I Got A Personal Color Analysis

Every time she held up that dark green I was blown away, obviously black is iconic but pleaseeeee more dark emerald 😍

A reminder that your colors don't matter unless you want them to, if you have bright colors on your pallet, but hate them, then you wear the muted colors. You don't ever have to please anyone but yourself.
Also; trends aren't automatically terrible, trends could help you find your style.

You know what’s crazy? I’ve been really into color seasons lately and the other day, I literally thought to myself “I wonder if Saf is a dark winter or if I just make that association cus she wears so much black” and here’s the video.

Actually when I went to a personal colour consultant, she gave me secondary colour palette that still looks good, even if not the best. I think it is important to know the range of what looks okay to the best, not just sticking to the best. My consultant also gave me tips of how to make the best of colours that are not in the good tone for me by playing with contrast, position of the colours, etc. It is actually more freeing than restrictive when you have these tips and insights on how to make colours work for you!

It is completely amazing how Safiya not only is interested in these but does her best to be actually informed. Yeah sure she’s trying it, but she was really learning. In every video Saf and Tyler do their best to make quality content and it’s always respectful and enjoyable.

Her saying “this is painful” was the highlight for me. You all find people so naturally hilarious to feature in these videos!

She actually looked AMAZING by the end of the video, the clothes and the makeup look GORGEOUS and really compliment her!!!

This stuff is real. I had my "colors" done (my wife forced me) a very long time ago. Turns out that I'm an Autumn and it has helped me immensely with the clothes I've bought over the years.

It would be interesting to do this with a few color stylists and see if they come to the same conclusion. I personally just don't have the eye for this and can't see the difference in most instances 😅 but it's still a fun idea.

As a Winter myself who has used my colors faithfully since my teens and can recognize them pretty well, I've always been of the opinion that Safiya is a fellow Winter. She couldn't wear as much black as she does, looking as good as she does in it, and not be one.

The funny thing is someone who has been professionally trained to do this like myself can tell what you are without doing the actual analysis. The process is done to shock the client so they understand the basic premise of colour seasons and use it in their daily life. Having said that. I still wear black even though it’s not my colour :)

Very entertaining video. Kinda sad that Tyler didn't also get his color palette done. It would have been nice to see him also shop for some clothes.

I really like that you did a segment at the end of your color analysis where you went through all of the color palettes. I had reached a point where I was just thinking. “well duh, dark colors bring out the features of majority with lighter skin “ but seeing the different types of dark palettes on you definitely made the difference

Video is randomly recommended to me, but I think this is the one video where I can totally see the effects of color analysis. In the natural light, it made so much sense. She looks really good in the purple and her makeup!

So thinking back to your Perfect Makeover video, Brad and Stacy thought you had a slightly warmer tone and now it's cooler, more than likely because your hair color is darker. The one thing they all have in common though is that those richer, jewel tones REALLY suit you! Especially that royal purple and dark emerald tones.

I know you say you don't feel that comfortable with bright colors, but let me just say that the ones you picked out, look so effortlessly good on you! like they've been in your wardrobe all along!

Can I just say the degree of organization, clarity of explanation, and detail of the accompanying graphics are incredible and reflect such hard work on the part of Safiya, Tyler, and the entire team. We appreciate it!

As someone who works in fashion retail and has been a personal shopper, this is the most exhausting thing to be introduced to. It's not the service per se I think it can be helpful and fun. But it's the customer who laps it up. They take it way way too seriously and unless a piece matches the colour in their book exactly, they won't buy it! It's incredibly frustrating. I have been able to make people look beautiful and feel confident without a silly little book for years.

As someone who was in high school in the early 80’s, my mom took me to a color “expert.” It turned out I was a winter, too. Going with this knowledge in hand, Mom picked an iced blue fabric with which she made a gown for my upcoming concert. It was a really lovely dress that totally washed out my skin under the stage lights. In the pictures, you could see my black hair, some lip color, the dress and my instrument. It looked as if a ghost with a wig was filling out my clothes!

You looked stunning in the purple! Your whole face lit up and you even carried yourself more confidently.

Her analysis was definitely completely correct!! Those deep cool colors look absolutely beautiful on you.

I see so many differences between the two of us, but your colors are basically the same ones that I feel more "fancy/sofisticated" when I use them!!

Honestly I wish I had known about this kind of color analysis when I was still interested in acting. I NEVER wore good colors for my auditions and always wondered why I didn't feel confident or why I couldn't figure out my "type" of character ! With this information, I feel like I'd be unstoppable :D

Colours really do influence your skin, but remember that anyone can suit any colour. If u like it, wear it.

I'd like to get my colors done too since it's so hard trying to tell what color my undertones are. The closest that I've gotten was being told that I look good in orange and I don't like how purple looks on me, but that's pretty much it. Saf definitely rocks the wintry palette though, so good for her! Those jewel tones are dead drop gorgeous.

completely honest... when you switched into the new clothes and makeup at the end i actually gasped out loud because you COMPLETELY shined. like all your features stood out so much stronger. you looked younger too!

I got my colors done and got copper spring and found that my favorite colors were in the palette already! Sometimes you just know without knowing 😂

my mom (who is super good at this) gives people this advice: to find out what your palette is, look at your wardrobe of favorite clothes. if you always love how you look in certain colors, it's probably because they're the most flattering colors for you. also people tend to compliment you when you're wearing your best palette.

I built up my whole black and white wardrobe only to learn my neutrals were charcoal and cream 😢 also love the Flying Biscuit shoutout! I crave their apple butter weekly

I’m surprised how good this all looked! I never really took this seriously I just thought that’s a cool concept but it’s subtle things that do make a big difference ☺️

The makeup was definitely the biggest stand-out for me. I hadn't even realized the warm foundation was kind of... not doing Saf justice. I think a slightly darker eyeshadow will maybe tone down the overall brightness of the look itself, but the pink lip, the cheeks, etc, really made her pop. That was neat!

I did this when I was young and found out that fall colours look great on me, especially once I get light tan. Bright spring pastels just make me look....pale and very ill.

My mom had a book called “color me beautiful” straight out of 1985 and trying to figure out my season as an 8 year old is a core memory for me. still not sure what colors are mine

You’re literally GLOWING, this lady knows what she’s doing. Those colors look really reaaaaally good on you!

I think what makes this really work is because colors can reflect. So the red, green, yellow, etc color is bouncing back to your skin and it is adding to your skin tone. That color reflecting is mixing creating an effect that is subtle to the eyes but really it’s enhancing the natural undertones of your skin. Color theory in general is about understanding contrast and complementary colors on the color wheel. Having that knowledge alone can help a person style or design almost anything.

okay, but I feel that winter and autumn is really easy to mix up. my mom and I grew up thinking she was cool toned and I was warm, but then we figured out it was the opposite by discovering that i was a winter and she was an autumn. we both look better in darker colors and would often share jewelry, makeup, or clothing because our coloring is the same. our color palettes are literally neighbors.

those colours are really perfect on you. I am a true autumn. Found this out by analysing why I always wear the same 5 shirts and somehow never the thousand other things in my wardrobe. We are simply drawn to the colours that suit us best and we also feel best in those. So you can actually figure this out on your own by being honest to yourself and paying attention to your own behaviour.

Your videos are not just fun but also a deep dive in a particular trend/topic, which I love. In the world of bite-sized info, I love such videos.
P. S. Seeing Indian actors in the mix of celebs, I really felt seen.

I got a professional color analysis recently and I was also typed as a true winter! It has helped me discern better colors of clothes and makeup be I just always felt washed out or overwhelmed by the colors I was putting on. So cool to see you show this process!
I also dyed my hair a dark blue green after getting my analysis!

I'm cool toned. I just take my mom when I'm buying clothes. She's pretty honest without being mean about it. Plus I can tell when she loves the outfit & when she doesn't really think it looks good on me.

a lot of this is also highly subjective imo. both from an outside and inside perspective. inside as in you feeling confident about a certain colour and wearing it no matter if it "suits you" or not. confidence automatically makes you look better in any colour. and outside as in the subjective taste and opinions of others. one person might like you more in a certain colour, and another person less in the same one.
(Edit: e.g. me, while liking the colours they picked for her, also actually liking a lot of colours on Safiya that they didn’t recommend her wearing.)
don't get me wrong, this is a fun little thing to do and can help you personally, but it's not to be taken too seriously. if you really wanna wear a colour but it's not your "designated tone", just go for it! life's too short not to wear whatever the heck you want!

It's kind of perfect and hilarious that one of your color palettes is black, but also looking at the other colors - you do tend to pick those as makeup colors that are perfect for you. Also, omg I didn't know you were in Ottawa T^T *cryes*

I did this years ago and it was life changing. Also, it helps with decluttering your wardrobe. The colorist I used had a community and we would meet quarterly and bring our decluttered items. We would spent an hour with the stylist giving our clothes to the people they belonged to. It was legit so much fun seeing the clothes go to the right people. People definitely pop in their right colors. Also, free clothes that look amazing on you.

Aww I had my colors done a couple months ago & have been loving wearing more color. I used to wear all black. I am a summer but best believe I kept a lot of black clothing items 😆

Lol a few weeks ago, I got myself diagnosed with Deep Autumn 🍁🍂 (Althought I'm a spring baby), no wonder my mom always says I would look like a grandma if I ever dyed my hair in cool tones like silver or blue lol (I bleached some highlights in my natural hair)

That makeup and that pink lip suits saf so much! Its insane

For those who are interested in this color styling, keep in mind it's all meant for your top half, or things that are near your face. You can wear whatever color bottoms you like, and you don't need to wear full outfits of your colours. These tests are literally about seeing how your face looks against certain colors, so don't be worried thinking you have to give up your favorite pair of pants!

I had this done in 2009 when I was 14, I hated the colours she gave me then, but it’s basically all I wear now!

I feel like Safiya is a cool/neutral and can pull off any colour. A thing only cool/neutrals can do.

I just found your channel. This was great. When I saw you were going to do it, I already knew you would be a winter. My Mom and I had this done back in the 80s when I was in HS by a Mary Kay rep. My Mom is a winter and I'm autumn. At the time, all I wore was black! Goth before it was a thing. Love your channel!

My mom is so cute with the seasons. She is a true autumn and any time she sees one of those colors she goes "look it's my color!" She has finally gotten her self esteem improved and she loves dressing up.
