America is currently plagued by the hydra-headed evil duo of inflation and recession. The worst part about this recession is that consumers are racking up credit card debt. In April alone, credit card debt went up 20% while rates have doubled in a year. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, invessting is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

That's why I make it a point to speak with a financial counselor before choosing any investments. I've been using one since the pandemic. using profit-oriented tactics and minimizing risk as a buffer against inevitable downtrends. In addition, they have access to insider knowledge and analysis, making failure virtually impossible for them. I made almost $700K after working with an advisor for over two years.

Recession is most likely the result of an external factor. For the first time in decades, the United States is losing its clout as a federal reserve currency. They don't have any more economies to use to control inflation, and less money is being spent on stock and oil trading than in the past. They all lend support to the idea that a new multilateral world order is in the works.

Keep this in the back of your mind. There are good days and bad days. It's a zero-sum game, but keep this advice in mind: spend wisely, invest wisely, and diversify your holdings so that when one performs poorly, the others do as well. This can be accomplished by hiring a knowledgeable specialist whose platform provides a wide range of investment options. By doing so, you leave little room for regrets and may even gain more.

Big ups and big love for the awesome daily content. Because inflation devalues your savings, it compels everyone to be an investor. Meaning you need to preoccupy yourself or offload your time/energy to the study of investment opportunities both of which are very costly. Thanks to Alex Gomez for showing me the appropriate way to get into bitcoin investing and trading with his trade signal and investing guidelines. Investing and trading are more than just having TA skills. There is a big component of discipline and emotional maturity, that one has to work on! Time in the market vs. timing the market. If you keep that mentality as an investor, you will stay calm during the storm! Within some months I was making a lot more money and have continued on that same path with Alex Gomez

Why is there a widespread desire to abandon the dollar? It is because when the Federal Reserve creates fiat money, it essentially takes away from the reserves of all countries holding dollars. Inflation not only affects consumers, but also anyone holding dollars. In essence, the dollar has enabled the systematic draining of wealth from nations without their awareness. Emitting fiat money is not necessarily harmful for countries as long as it is proportional to their GDP growth, since this means that they are capturing their own growth. However, the hegemon uses global GDP rather than national GDP for this purpose, which means it is stealing from the growth of other countries. Countries will only move away from the dollar if they are not concerned about facing sanctions or military retaliation. Thus, the anti-dollar trend is a consequence of poor governance and a decline in the hegemon's power.

    • Ricky Yamamoto
Ricky Yamamoto 2 months ago +14

The argument being made is that the scheme was deemed satisfactory by most nations as long as the hegemon fulfilled its role in providing leadership, promoting order, serving common interests, and demonstrating philanthropy towards the weak.
However, it is apparent that these conditions have not been met for quite some time due to poor governance, excessive self-centeredness, and instances of mistreatment.

The markets are still unsure if the Federal Reserve will continue to its plan to raise interest rates until inflation is under control, despite the fact that bond yields are rising while stock prices are falling. What is the greatest strategy to take advantage of the current bear market while I'm still deciding whether to sell my $401k worth of stocks?

Even though there will probably be more pain in the future, investors should look for stocks like Royal Philips NV and Alstom SA that have been sufficiently battered down to be a bargain or get a great portfolio manager.

It takes a lot to see beyond the whole ocean of news on focus on what is important, which is that no matter how low stocks go, they always bounce back. We underestimate the fact that banks are corporate entities also governed by greed. Since 2020, the banks have been over-leveraging their assets, which was one of the reasons for SVB's implosion. I have never been okay with keeping much money in the bank. I simply invest through my financial advisor, collect my profits, which I then spend.

Well said Palki. Remember that when all those dollars are repatriated to the US it will cause high inflation. In 1947 the Soviet Union aptly referred to the IMF and the World Bank as "branches of Wall Street". The loss of the US dollar as the global reserve currency inevitably means the end of the American empire. I look forward to that.

IMHO The federal reserve will do a currency exchange when the cbdc is rolled out. If the cbdc is backed by gold and greatly reduced from the amount of dollars floating around then there would be no real financial collapse. There would simply be a shift in currencies.

It's a very good move by some countries to transact trade in their own currencies & avoid US dollars. Once for all US's domination in world trade with their fiat currency of dollars needs to be challenged as it appears the exchange value of its intrinsic value is in serious doubt as the US Fed keeps on printing massive amounts of dollars to suit it's selfish interests & the real intrinsic value of dollar today is in serious doubt & hence it is in the best interests of the countries to arrive at appropriate exchange rates with its trading & in some cases even go for "Barter" system depending upon demand -supply of goods & services. As it is USA's debt to GDP ratio is more than 100 percent & among the highest in the world & that way also it is exporting inflationary value on it's dollars doing trade with other countries which is not favourable to its trading partners...

      Joseph John 2 months ago

@Carolle N Due to economic sanctions by USA , Iran is engaged in barter system of trade with Thailand which they claim to be beneficial for both Iran selling crude oil for Rice from Thailand. Similarly many smaller countries are engaged beneficially in such trade like Singapur & Malaysia and some countries in the African continent...

    • Carolle N
      Carolle N 2 months ago

@Joseph John /// God bless the old and proven bartering system. It's a fair one, when considering it makes some smaller countries' economy sustainable. Some countries like Canada have all the resources they need, they can become a bartering system if they wanted to. However, Canada is viewed as a little brother to USA. Hopefully Canada can also join BRICS. and leave USA fix their own problems, they made this economic mess so, I'm not placing all my eggs in one basket.

    • Joseph John
Joseph John 2 months ago +1

@Carolle N Yes madam barter system of trade is a real boon under the present political climate where USA behaving like world's policeman dictates terms to suit their interests & impose economic sanctions which becomes unbearable for smaller countries to survive. Ofcourse Canada is an exception as it is joined at the hips with USA & it's the 2nd biggest country after Russia with massive untapped & unexplored mineral wealth & other economic resources & it can take care of itself but not the smaller nations which are still developing & others which are struggling for development and for them this barter system of trade can come handy 🙏🙏🙏

Reserve currency concept applies to individual human beings also. Some people store their own wealth as money under the mattress, some trust the bank to get some interest, some in stocks so their wealth grows and shrinks with the market, some in real-estate so the wealth is a bit more inflation adjusted, some in gold and so on. Your wealth will grow and shrink based on your choice of your reserve currency, and how you balance it across multiple instruments. Just like gold mining has natural limits, there are reasons why BitCoin cannot be minted (like dollar printing) beyond a maximum limit (21M). It is important to review your wealth buckets and see if any change is needed in your reserve currency to be moved between any buckets.

Brazil can switch Right to Left, and it doesn’t matter: BRICS rolls ahead in all its manifestations. People emphasize what China wants, but of course, Brazil wants out of using USD, as do many other nations. China will support settlements with the India Rupee. All the BRICS nations have a vision of a multipolar world, as opposed to a vision of a bipolar world where US hegemony faces one competitor. BRICS is a vision of distributed leadership and financing, across many countries.

It is NOT so simple. There are COSTS to internationalizing a currency. Not only it is very expensive administratively, you lose CONTROL of the currency. Speculative attacks on the currency is very real if your economy is NOT strong. Also you need both HARD power & SOFT power to ensure other countries support your international curreny.... and that is NOT cheap!!!

US-China trade in goods hit a new record in 2022, according to data published by the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) last week. Total imports and exports grew 2.5 percent year-on-year to reach US$690.6 billion, breaking the previous record of US$658.8 billion set in 2018.
This is just US. Add the rest of the West's trade, and it's over 1.5 trillion.
All in $US. China is selling its US bonds to pay for its failing internal loans. China is collapsing.
It will be North Korea in 10 years.

You should have balanced this by examining the requirements for a reserve currency. Issues like open, flexible financial markets needed to support a global reserve currency but China’s need for control makes make it doubtful. People need a stable government, not one with a repressive political culture that can rapidly affect trust in the currency any time. A simple question I always ask people: if you are given 700 Yuan and 100 dollars, what would you take? I really hope for credible alternative to the Dollar but right now the Yuan is still very far.

This is GOOD NEWS. The world would be a safer and better place with more balance of power among nations, and that applies to global currencies. Relying on just one country's currency as the global reserves currecny (ie US $$) gives US the huge advantage of being able to print as much money as it wants with little or no consequences. It also gives US the power to suppress and bully developing nations.

The last time I checked, USD isn't really depriciating much. Not sure, but I guess USD is still in net appreciation.
Personally, I'm a Bangladeshi working and living in India. My own perception is - its just too hard to get Rupee or Yuan and they are too volatile as well. I still has to rely on USD to get or send money to/from home. Without making Rupee or Yuan easily available to all, eg: making Rupee-Taka, Yuan-Taka systems or widespread currency swap at a good rate, its not gonna make much of an scratch to USD.

Relax Palki. USD will be there even after your retirement. I am hearing the demise of USD for the last 50 years. Problem for China's Yuan is that nobody trusts China. That is a big problem. Trust is very, very important. I have some knowledge about finance. I hold a finance MBA from UK and also CPA designations from US and Canada.

The US dollar used to have the backing of gold. This was taken off by Nixon in 1971. But since the currencies of major hydrocarbons producers in OPEC were more or less pegged (fixed) and hydrocarbons were the only major source of energy US Dollar enjoyed their reign.
Now that the world in seeing the diminishing role of hydrocarbons as energy source, there is bound to be diminishing role of USD in international trade. Even the OPEC countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE are trying to manoeuvre part of their trade outside USD.

This isn't about internationalising the Yuan. It's paving the way for countries to not use the dollar in international trade. That is step 1. Step 2, is introducing the BRICS+ currency and a new financial system outside of the US purview. Therefore, no sanctions, no stealing foreign reserves, no kicking off swift.
