Alex is a likable dude and most importantly his fights are so entertaining, it's not fireworks like a Jiri, or Charles, or Chandler, or Gaethje fight, in how chaotic and wild they are but it's super entertaining in a very calculated but powerful way, his relaxed style and calculated and technical style mixed with being a knock-out artist makes it fun to watch in a unique way, when he knocks someone out it's like the least surprising thing for some strange reason

    • Finn Marr-Heenan
      Finn Marr-Heenan 3 months ago +10

What I like about his fights are, it allways seems like he’s just downloading and conditioning you into a trap. Plus the fact he gets rocked but recovers fast and has a hole in his game with the ground game makes it exciting, he is never far from his win condition but at any moment he can be taken down .

    • TopeA8
      TopeA8 3 months ago +5

It's sad how you have to explain it this way lol, as if chaotic fighters are the gold standard. It is sad that people think fights like Chandler, Gaethje is pinnacle mma lol. Do you think guys like Alex and Izzy don't know how to brawl lol? Literally ANY MMA fighter can brawl, it's not a skillset. Look at Izzy versus Gastellum lol, consider Alex's chin. Of course these guys could brawl like Nate Diaz if they wanted to, but they are ABOVE it. It's like asking Lebron to play at the level of Westbrook or asking Jeff Bezos to do ecommerce like some random youtuber. Of course they can, but why would they? It is the job of fans to learn more about the sport, not for fighters to dumb themselves down. This is not aimed at you, it's just sad that you have to say it, is all I am saying.

Alex learning English from Sean Strickland is going to be a huge mistake 🤣🤣🤣.
Sean learning striking from Alex would be super helpful for Sean. If he can get Sean to stop holding his hands right in front of his chin Sean will be an even bigger threat. Sean is never head hunting so if he tightens his defense it would be very interesting to see.

What I never really understood is that if you watch the first fight between Alex and Izzy, Izzy never really took Alex down... yes he held him there.. but he didn't shoot and take him down. Alex attempted to trip Izzy and ended up on bottom position. Actually... if you watch the fight Alex actually shot for a take down and was successful...

I agree but can you clarify for me, Alex goes for a kick, Izzy catches it and moves in to a body lock(I don't know what Izzys intention was), in that body lock Alex initiates the trip and yes Styles changes the momentum in mid air to end up in top
Looks like Izzy wanted a take down also but

This would be an awesome fight if it was pushed back at least another 2 more months, but as it stands now - I'm worried this is too quick of a turnaround for Alex after recently suffering such a bad ko, similar to what happened to Tua following his devastating ko against Cyril and then getting ko'd extremely quickly by Sergei. I still think he has a very good shot at winning, especially cuz Jan isn't the same guy he was even just a couple years ago, but we shall see. Either way - ill be rooting for him to come out on top!

Alex is actually such a nice guy. Not saying he letting adesanya go but the fact that he chose this coming path is just way more worth it to dominate 1 weight class and get over it and dominate another will be the ultimate plan to upbring his legacy as opposed to just keep chasing adesanya. Why be a 1 division champ when you can be a 2 division. When everything all set he will be known as one of the top champions that became champ in multiple weight class shall he win the 205 strap

with fighters like Alex I genuinely can never tell if they're dumb or they're smart, but probably both, because he fights really intelligently, he sharpened his technic and skill-set through-out his kickboxing career and even in MMA, constantly getting better, adding more tools to his arsenal, doing certain things that many other fighters cannot do being a knock-out artist while having high output and outlanding and outpointing masters of outpointing like Israel, and then he does super braindead moves like treating Israel like a punching bag, and then fighting 3 months after getting knocked out and probably even sparring hard, ignoring the damage he's taken.

They were both self made champs in kickboxing but Izzy had to fight a lot more to get to be champion in the UFC whereas Alex only had to fight a few times and then he was put into the title match just for his past with the champ. Sean's reputation won't suffer much once people see Abus in action this Sat 7/1. No shame falling to a much better opponent. I would say the only MW fighters that have a chance are Robert, Izzy and of course Khamzat. My guess is the UFC already has the contract ready for Abus vs Khamzat in the UAE. October fight already warming up in the bullpen.
The UFC knows exactly what they are doing here. No decision win for Sean if you get my drift. Probably the call out post fight Saturday by Abus. The billionaire crowd is going to go nuts and Abus and Khamzat will be paid extremely well. Main card. The winner then gets the Izzy fight.

The UFC matchups are looking exciting.
Rob Whittaker vs Dricus DP winner gets Izzy.
Isreal Adesanya should fight the winner of Alex Perreira vs Jan Blachowich at 205 for another side mission.

Pereira keeps denying that he didn't fall into a trap everyone knows he fell into a trap but he keeps saying it was just a moment of despair for izzy

We Are Warriors 3 months ago +7

He didn't fall into trap. If one of his connected on Izzy there won't be any counter strike from him. Lucklly Izzy evaded and timed his right perfectly.

    • Richard
      Richard 3 months ago +4

Exactly. 2 more punches & izzy was going bye bye. Lucky counter hail mary punch by Izzy.

    • Mad Gavin
Mad Gavin 3 months ago +1

@Richard Nothing lucky about that punch. Izzy set him up and Alex fell for it. That's the first time Alex has been outright KO'd as well, many never recover from bad knockouts like that, especially when they're in their mid 30s. Take Usman for instance, dude was in his own head the whole fight against Edwards in London.

@Mad Gavin you are right he might never be the same guy but he knows what's best for him so let's just hope for the best.

@Da MMA GUY Him returning so soon against Jan after getting flat-lined could very well end in disaster. Plus anyone who used Jan as a stepping stone, ended up losing to him.

Why the hell would the UFC
put this event in Salt Lake City of all places and on the same day as the Spence vs Crawford fight? I really want to watch both but now forced to choose have to go with the boxing match the whole boxing world has been demanding for years. UFC makes some questionable decisions sometimes
