I had the privilege of hearing Cam sing this song at a restaurant in the Villages in Florida about 2 years ago for a Veterans Day weekend BBQ. He’s so soulful and an amazing spirit! Tears of joy is an understatement. Congratulations Cam!❤

Boy I'm finding it hard to read these comments. I felt compelled to listen 2 Cam's rendition of 'Hallelujah.again!!!! I think its the best I've EVER heard!!!! I was SO impacted how u could hear his whole soul, ache, BUT never out sung. Luke refered 2 how uniquely beautiful his style was. I thot the same. His choices were just so tasteful & his runs, so beautiful & not over done & u could hear his whole story just by how he sang. BUT I am DEEPLY disappointed that the Judges didn't put him in2 the top 24!!! His duet partner, they referred 2 as leader?! I thot WTH?! Jay wz NO leader, a leader does NOT just quit the show & not tell his duet partner & then come bk in the morning b/c he had a change of heart. I think the Judges REALLY messed up big time with Cam in particular!!!! 😪💔 I hope ACTUALLY another Artist or Producer hears Cam's audition & picks up Cam as an Artist, invests him, instead of having 2 wait on Idol. It's their loss & sadly 4 now, ours & especially Cam's!!!
@Tammy BoonI don't watch American Idol, but this came across my feed... that guy is phenomenal! When I read your comment and you said they let him go, I yelled out WHAT? ARE THEY CRAZY?! That is ridiculous!! That's actually why I quit watching years ago, because they'd send some fantastic people home and keep mediocre ones, and it made no sense except that it was a setup! Hopefully Cam will be seen and heard by the right person!
U know, I didn't watch Idol when it 1st came back. I watched The Voice. I STILL recall the 1st S, I was shocked how different the shows were. Coaching compared 2 judging. Tbh at times, I thot Christina Aguilera could be cold 2 certain artists. HOWEVER, I'll NEVER 4get during the 2nd season, suddenly she ALSO was the 1st Coach, who talked about Blake Shelton's heart & how he treated each one of his team members on the show & he further developed a reputation for how he treated his team members after the show. I only started re-watching Idol a few yrs ago & I had seen changes, where they DIDN'T exploit, individuals who obviously had no talent & almost treated laughing at them as entertainment!!! During the beginning yrs of Idol, I rarely CHOSE 2 watch the audition round. This season, sadly I ABSOLUTELY think they have EXPLOITED some of the contestants' & pain & history. If I HADN'T work in a certain field 4 many yrs, maybe I wouldn't feel as I strongly as I do!!! BUT they deserved better. I sometimes which on The Voice the contestants had more weeks to sing. BUT I learned only last year, that they do audition just not to the coaches, & it's not on TV. They audition to be on The Blinds. Suddenly that gave me a different perspective. Though I still wish they had more rounds to sing, I was glad that they don't seem to try & exploit contestants & that I do respect.
Cant stop the tears, this gentle being is just amazing, so happy that he was awarded with the Plantinum Ticket because he sure deserves it ! Looking forward to watching your career grow Cam !! you truly are a wonderful story teller with a voice of an angel. Cheering you on from Australia!!

Guys, you are not going to believe that I stand up, clap, and cry. Not only for his magic voice but also the fact that at 18 years he decided to take his siblings out of foster care to play the Mommy and Daddy role. This Dude deserves to get something extraordinary on his journey.

Aside from Cam's beautiful rendition of this song, I appreciated even more how Lionel recognized the need for a *hug* and immediately stood up to walk over and give one. The consistent acknowledgement of humanity is a big part of what makes this group of judges so special. ❤️

I spoke with Cameron while he was going through all he was with his siblings. I'm looking back at our facebook chats during that time and so happy for him. He was constantly working so hard to help raise them. He's the REAL DEAL. He would speak so amazing about his sister to build up her confidence. He had broken down cars, and struggled so much, but kept working so hard to be a singer. He's an amazing person and really really deserves all that the greatness he can get. He seriously was a parent to his siblings when he was still so young. Go Cameron.

I'm 63 and have heard this song performed dozens of times. However, this is the first time I'm really hearing and feeling the lyrics. His soul has astonishing vocal skills.

I’ve heard this song sang by at least 200 different people in my life… HE STILL MANAGED TO MAKE IT HIS OWN… unreal! GOOD KID… something about his voice that is for sure unique, but also has that silk to his voice, with a good amount of pure soul, singing from his gut… they were parts that actually reminded me of David Ruffin Lead singer from the Temptations, very impressed! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Every year it seems like the talent on this show gets better, deeper, stronger. That young man has an amazing story, what he did to raise up his siblings. And then to break into that song and put his own message into the song, he reinvented it into his own personal experience and made his prayer. Really amazing, the song was made fresh and new. You could tell from the first note he felt it deeply. And the. For the judges to love on him like they did. But the topper was to see how much his girlfriend understood what a special soul he is and to express her love and support, how could not be moved by the whole thing. I wish him the best and I hope he has a big career, starting with a run on American Idol, but he could be recording and releasing songs right now.

Indeed. Lionel reminds me of the story of the prodigal son. Very touching that the Father killed the fattened calf and threw a party for his son who squandered all his inheritance. The idea of the Bible story was that his son was lost, and now he's found and welcomed him home. Luke 15.

I have watched American Idol from its beginning but I have never cried watching an audition until I watched this one of Cam Amen’s. His voice coupled with one of the most beautiful songs of all time just touched every heart string in my body. I didn’t even know I was crying until I felt my tears streaming down my face. I have heard that song so many times since it was written and performed by Leonard Cohen but never in my life have I heard it sung this beautifully with such raw, storytelling emotion. Cam, you’re the real deal and I’m going to be routing you on to go far in this Contest. All you have to do is be yourself and sing like an angel and you can win American Idol. Your story broke my heart and I know both your brother and your sister are so proud of you. Thank you for sharing your gifts with all of America.
