I enjoyed this movie. The nostalgia hits hard. So good to see nearly everyone back after 33 years. It wasn't gonna be as good as original but it was still worth watching as a fan.
The story was pretty bad and ruined the characters.
I made it to about 27 minutes and couldn't watch anymore. Was looking forward to it. All the jokes were pretty bad - could tell where this was going..

I'm probably the only one who feels sad about this new Coming to America movie. My cousin Rafael and I have watched the first part since the early 90's and it brought us so much fun. We have seen it maybe hundreds of times and we practically memorized almost all of the famous lines, especially the songs. My cousin would imitate them really well, and it ws so funny.
In July of last year, he died of complications of pneumonia, and it was really heartbreaking for me. Sometimes I would see part 1 available in Netflix, and I would think of my cousin Rafael. Then I saw this part 2 trailer and there's this feeling of excitement but also sadness. =(

I’m hearing conflicting reports about the quality of the film. But just to see John Amos able to come back in his original role... God love him. Every time I see him, I smile. He represents my childhood, and I never wanna lose my childhood.

This was a good movie not as good as the first but definitely some laugh out loud moments and all the actors came back from the first, it was really nolstagic and great watch. Keep doing your thing Eddie 👌🏾💯

I’m so excited for this movie! It looks fantastic from the preview.
I enjoyed it. I quite understand that almost all the characters from the first is kinda over the top, but you gotta admire that concept and quite enjoyable to watch. The script is quite a rehash.
Can not freaking wait!! I love Eddie Murphy and I've watched coming to America a hundred times and now the sequel is coming out finally, all these fantastic actors are coming together again to make another awesome movie! We are in for a treat!

I remember gathering around the TV as a kid when this came on for the very first time. Now i will gather my children around the TV to allow them to watch it for their generation. #nostalgic

I loved this movie, grew up with the original and while the ending was predictable, i think this is a worthy entertaining sequel, they joke about sequels in the movie so it was self-aware and didn't try to be something it wasn't. I have zero complaints.
I'm going to watch this original one (which came out when I was 8) on Amazon Prime just for the hell of it in a few hours and I can't WAIT till the second one comes out in 2 days on Prime! If you haven't subscribed to Prime, yet, hurry up!

Coming 2 America is a dope remake... Not cheesy at all and all the re-casted characters was balanced out perfect in my opinion.. Also perfectly remade for this generation.
My mom and I absolutely enjoyed it! The original is always gonna be the classic but this was a fun sequel and everyone was fantastic. Some people just take movies way too seriously and don't know how to enjoy them anymore. Like common how can Eddie Murphy not make you smile? And bravo to Wesley Snipes he was awesome.

I watched the movie today 3/5/2021, it was hilarious as the 1st movie.
Eddie, Arsenio, Westley and all the well known actors did a awesome job. It was worth watching. One of the best comedy movie I've seen for 2021.

@Verhoeven1980 Am not saying CGI dont matter am just saying CGI in a comedy isn't that important. It is only when you make sifi or fantasy movie where you focus on the CGI aspect. The only one had shitty quality as well compared to modern standards, if you like it, why hate the current?
@Michael If the elephant and the lion look like a cartoon, it takes me right out of the scene. So yes. Cgi/sets/costumes matter. In every movie.

So I just watched this. And I have to say I was actually amazed at how many people they got to return for the film. Sadly Madge Sinclair passed away, they never even paid any respect or homage to her at all. Which I found odd... The ending was predictable as everyone guessed. But with a few surprises thrown in. It reminded me a lot of the original film. and We are given an explanation as to how Akeem was given a SON. Don't pay any attention to the haters who are judging it without seeing it. Simply watch it for yourself and you'll enjoy it....

So, I just finished watching this movie...although, this is not the original movie, the core and bones of the first film resonates through it like a vintage car barn find worth restoring. This is truly a great movie to watch and is like renewing your vows to a movie that you loved so long ago. I'm happy to see Eddie and Arsenio are able to show the world again their talents of the other characters they had portrayed once before. The plot was good and was rooting for the daughter to take her rightful place. Everyone has their purpose in life...well put in the movie. By far the person who stole the show was John Legends' rendition...quite a pleasant surprise. I'm looking forward to Eddie's return to stand-up and to whatever happens to this franchise. Bravo! And well done! 👏👏👏👍🤘✌️

Eddie always kills it in every role, and emphasizes that killing when playing multiple characters, but I'll be damned if Arsenio didn't almost steal the show in CtA (Eddie had been known for over a decade for his comedic talent)! Also, that little moan that the great writer/director Vondie Curtis Hall does - "Ooooohhhh; I shall cherish this for the rest of my life... For the rest of my life!" As you may be able to tell, I love the original, and have been looking forward to this sequel for years! I really hope Frankie Faison is in it too (he killed it in Banshee, btw)!

First I want to say love from Ethiopia!! I watched this movie yesterday and it was fun, I love it!! And, It was nice to see these beautiful ladies with Ethiopian traditional clothes., also the Cross the King had on, which specific to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church which we the believers wear it because we believe in it!! You can just wear it as jewelry... I also noticed our alphabets were used.. ... I hoped to see sth referring to the costumes/outfits, and everything used from the Ethiopian culture specific to the Orthodox Church would be recognized at the closing credits on the movie...that would've been nice, cultural appropration...so more people will know about the different outfits that included in the movie ...please do something about that!! Thank you!! 💚💛❤💚💛❤

If they concentrated more on the plot than an agenda, the movie would have been better. 5/10 IMO.
I going to watch and hopefully love it as I do the first one. I think a plot twist will be that it's not Akeem's son but Simi's since he did lie like he was the prince to the sister. And while Akeem was dead set on having Lisa, they(him and Simi) did go out and probably hooked up with someone until Lisa gave him a chance. It happens I don't know why it's that hard to believe.
I say just watch with no expectations and enjoy it or just don't. 🤷🏾♀️

I know people are looking forward to this and they're rooting on this to be funny but I admit after two trailers I'm worried that they waited too long to do this.
It's the PG-13 I am worried about. When a sequel is PG-13 after a rated R original I always think water down cash grab. Hope I am wrong but the jokes seemed a bit childish.

Originals are always better..This wasn't terrible it was actually decent..They did a good job of capturing the nostalgic feel in many parts yet it had to be modern....Thank to Eddie Murphy for giving us this sequel for the culture! Another depiction of powerful black kings and queens are always needed!
