Indeed it was electric, and we still fucking lost like wtf. At the end of the day the job got done but with minimal effort. Fucking Brazil and Argentina are undefeated in their last 15+ games, they didn’t even go down on their last day of qualifying and they were both qualified 2 or 3 matches before.
Crazy seeing Yedlin in his role as a veteran. I remember wen he was a young buck at WC 2014 and also seeing him as one of the few consistent starters for years in England.

I have no problem with them celebrating making the World Cup. This is one of the youngest national teams in the world and I believe will be the youngest at the World Cup. This will be the first World Cup for all but maybe two guys. This is a big accomplishment for these young men. They know the job isn’t finished, but let them celebrate.
I give credit to Gregg for going for the win. He got criticized when he rotated heavily during the Panama away match but this is the same lineup against Mexico. Tyler said it right we qualified to the World Cup that’s all that matters.
He was criticized for over rotating the lineups and he learned and didn't over rotate. The criticism was correct.
I like Gre double g. Buutttt....I'm not convinced he is the right manager for this team. These kids do respond to his rah rah style. But often lack in 2nd halves. They come out throwing punches, as in this match, and should have been up 2-0. If you're up at the break, this strategy looks great. But sometimes you have to sit back and grind out a point against a world class goalie. I think his tactics will be tested in November. Let's see what these kids can accomplish. They have the talent & international experience to advance out of the group. But do they have the maturity?

@VAR ! A solid locker room presence is going to be very important for this young team. Yedlin is one of the only guys we can bring in that has played in a WC. He needs to be there.

I think that a good way for the USA team to start being strong is to play more often with powerful teams like Argentina and Brasil. You can only learn when playing with people that is better than you
yeah but the problem is
1. brazil and argentina are in conmebol, not concacaf, so the us don't play many matches against them
2. the us are in a very weak confederation, concacaf, where the only decent teams are the us, mexico, canada, and costa rica, and none of these teams are top tier
3. brazil and argentina are very good, a completely different tier than the usmnt, so there are hardly even any friendlies played between the us and top tier teams
As a non American living in a very football based country lol. every time I look at the American team and always think, If football/soccer was a bigger sport in the US, they would definetely be among the best of the world.

The point in the game was to make sure not to lose by 6 goals. Winning did not matter.
I'm always impress to see that eventhough soccer of football isn't popular compared to baseball, basketball, football etc. yet they are able to qualify for the world cup. So i'm gonna support US along with Mexico, Japan, and England in 2022 world cup.

By the caliber of players you guys have you should have finished above Mexico comfortably.
@Eduardo Rodriguez not just above Mexico but above Canada as well. When US gets sergino and Weston back they'll be good enough to reach quarterfinal. Canada and Mexico's limit will be second round. Costa Rica relies too much on keylor and they'll still be crushed by Spain and Germany.
We may be a results-oriented culture, but soccer/football culture *is not* ! Look at us, we finished 3rd IN CONCACAF with the most talented team in the region! Losing to Costa Rica's C-team nearly made us an international laughing stock if not for the World Cup Draw forcing everybody to turn the page. He makes Pulisic cringe with every word he says because he's a buffoon. Gregg did almost nothing himself, he should've been fired 3 years ago!

"Make history". Make history?? By losing to Costa Rica's C-Team 2-0 and becoming an international laughingstock until the World Cup Draw distracted everyone? We finished 3rd behind Mexico, THIRD, with our best-ever generation! They are still laughing at us! Pulisic cringes at everything Berhalter says. We may be a results-oriented culture, but soccer/football culture is *not* . I don't know how long it will take the world to forget about the Costa Rica game, but understand that losing this game was a small sample of a rotten attitude and loser's culture in the federation, and the players have to take some of the blame, too. We're in the World Cup, yes, but it's NOT all that matters when it cost us our self-respect and our pride.
