I'm just glad we're getting Robin in a Batman movie!

    • Aura Honeydew
      Aura Honeydew 5 days ago

Well kinda it's Damian pretty the antiRobin. The Robin you use when you don't want a Robin. The equivalent of having a chance wear an spot on version of the comic suit just to bring up how silly it looks and how they would never wear it.

    • Sam Konkel
      Sam Konkel 9 days ago

@SilverShion Because he’s not only the current Robin to helm the moniker, he’s also Batman/Bruce Wayne’s ONLY biological son.

Having the story move back-and-forth from animation to live-action is smart. Saves money, plus, you can take more risks. And DC has been stellar in the past with their animated movies.

@Marvel's The Punisher(1.0) año 2023 Well, how do you explain when the world keeps switching between two completely different art styles? And if it doesn't in-universe, how does everything canonically look? I want to see exactly what the characters see, not see through a cartoon lens and live-action lens. Things have to be consistent.

@michael knight I'm glad you said that, because growing up my top 4 favourite superheroes were Black Panther, Shazam, Ant-Man and Blue Beetle, all of which I was made fun of for liking, people saying things like "they're not cool characters" "nobody cares about them" all 3 now some of the best movies Marvel has made, so I have no doubt in my mind, if they follow the recipe, Blue Beetle will slap hard

Not to be argumentative, but it's 100% reasonable to assume that not every DC fan knows much about Themescera. Everyone has their own little niche. For example: I know a ton about the Batfam but absolutely nothing about the Lantern Corps. He could also be speaking to any potential newcomers who don't know much about DC.

  • Vampiranhador
    Vampiranhador Month ago +2

Honestly... What he's selling and the way he's selling it actually kinda peaks my interest and even makes me cautiously optimistic.
If they manage to pull off the concept he sells, the 'linking/tying' different mediums (movies, series, games and animation) together in the way he says (by way of storylines, actors reprising their roles throughout the different mediums, etc.), they'll even be taking things a step further then Marvel and all while doing their own thing.
Wasn't a fan of how Marvel clearly forced and anorganically tried to ty different mediums together sacrificing good things in the process like for instance the EMH Averngers cartoon, the Spectacular Spider-man cartoon and some of the Netflix series.
Also, why bother trying to link a game to your cinematic universe if you're too cheap to make use of the actors? I for one hope Gunn 'll pull it of because DC deserves to shine as much as Marvel.

@Ryan anyway the point remains the same, origin movies or shows are what builds up the fanbase and gets everyone in the world onboard for bigger things. Without them only hardcore fans might (key word) be interested and that's just not a big enough market to support even a comic let alone a show or a movie.

    • James Neese
      James Neese Month ago +1

@Ryan and i was there when it premiered at NYCC in like...2010? and it was BOOED because it was CGI and tons of ppl were like "no CGI!" "Animate or don't do it at all" and it was horrible that the fandom were so close minded and intolerant. I loved the series but as you already know, countless ppl refused to support it and it died with one season. I thought the series was awesome and sinestro's guest appearance was amazing but it died and after the two GL animated movies bombed, GL was left to rot.
The Ryan Renolds movie had great potential but somehow went off the rails so fast esp with Hammond being both total cringe in the movie and ...becoming the first yellow lantern....wut? Beware My Power wasn't a terrible movie but wasn't great either and was all over the place with the characterizations and the finale was a mess....
      I despair

@Rezsurfer ! Why are some of you MCU stans so defensive to your core? Like, each of your mediocre movies are doing in 700-900m range, just be happy instead of taking offense in every little praise for DC. Where did I say MCU has bad writers? Gunn had directed Slither, Super, and wrote Army of the dead before moving to MCU, so he doesn't belong to them.

    • Bustuhh
      Bustuhh Month ago +1

@Abhi what he means by talented writers is those that are woke and protected, there's a reason why Henry hated the writing of Witcher, when a writer tried to cancel Henry, the writer got backlash and tried to backtrack on their attempt at cancelling Henry by saying the things he had done was only rumors
Hollywood is so knee deep in wokeness they're sinking into the quicksand making films (and other media) that actors are ashamed of, Chris Hemsworth and Charles dance did the wokebusters, it failed hard

Yes staying true to Comics is important but you also have to look at the consequences of doing that which is turning away or turning off certain people you have comes with fans that read Comics ever since they were two years old if they're pulling for a certain comic book and be like I don't know where the store is going I don't need to see it or I know what his story is going but I'm not interested and I wish they tell a different story.
You have to meet people in the middle you can't have it one way and expect different results

    • shadow19
      shadow19 Month ago +1

@44excalibur cuz look overtime at the film's The Hulk doomsday 100 percent to the comics it change things, Ironman didn't say 100% true to the comics but it changed its story, Captain America didn't say 100% true to the story, neither did any other superhero film that came out over the decades or the years of comic book movies. You can take the essence of the story the essence of the characters but you have to create your own story if you follow a storyline in the comics you are tied to what the story is in those comments you have to look at the comics that came out this year you have to look for crossovers of these characters meeting with other people you are tied down to an existing story and you're being lazy. Also they are coming book movies that stay true to Source material the Toxic Avenger that movie nobody even knows about, the first Fantastic Four movie that stayed heavily close to Source material and everyone hated that film the very first one if you don't know then that just proved my point.
And yes not everyone the world is a comic book reader but some are so if you're making a film that stays heavily true to comment then you losing those fans because they already know what's going to happen. Do you have to change the source material again look at Peacemaker changes its source material but also stayed true to the character there's a character called White Dragon and that stays heavily true to his, counterpart, Amanda Waller face heavily true to her, counterpart. But they're in stories that feel human that are interesting to follow and that not a comic book reader or a modern audience can point unsafe I know where this is going just because I read a comic book about it no you have to give them a new lens a new frame of where the story is going for also they can't point out oh I know this because I read in the comic book or no I read this because I seen the comical panel I know what's going to happen. If did use that character nobody's going to talk about his Guardian of Galaxy phones because they're like well I don't care or this characters to self serious or this character is not as funny or none as important and then guess what you're going to lose that more audience because they don't care but just want to be entertained and what he's doing is entertaining people so you can't argue with results

@Road Runner I don't want to have to read every Star Wars book and play every Star Wars game ten times for a Star Wars marathon. Just watching the nine Star Wars films is enough for me.
I'm currently watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with my mother, and the next episode we have to watch is The Well, which ties into Thor: The Dark World. So do we have to watch Thor: The Dark World before we continue watching the series? And if we decide to watch The Dark World, will we have to watch the Phase 1 MCU movies and Iron Man 3? My Mom can't stay up watching a whole movie at night, so it would be awful of me to force her to binge watch every MCU installment because of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And when we finish Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and if we watched everything that tied into the show, will we continue our MCU binge into Phase 4? Because of Daredevil's appearance in No Way Home and She-Hulk and Kingpin's appearance in Hawkeye, we would have to watch Daredevil. And Daredevil crossed over with the other Netflix shows in The Defenders, so we'd have to watch Jessica Jones, which Mom really didn't like when she saw the pilot episode with me those years ago, so she didn't want me to see that show. Also, No Way Home used characters from other Spider-Man film universes, so would we have to watch those films too? And when Deadpool 3 comes out, it's going to tie the MCU to Fox's X-Men movies.
So yeah, with Marvel doing a whole continuity across multiple series, it's such a pain to binge. The Star Wars expanded universe is even worse because it includes novels which requires you to think up the images yourself based on descriptions, and video games which are interactive with choices and may be on a system I don't own. Across multiple media, a series is a pain to bingewatch. The old DCEU was simpler to binge because it was just live-action movies and one show that can be skipped. Pretty sure Ezra Miller's cameo on the Arrow episode of Crisis on Infinite Earths is non-canon. Because if it was required to watch, then we'd have to watch the entire Arrowverse to get up to that point, plus those other shows and movies referenced in Crisis. And Michael Keaton's Batman is going to be in The Flash movie, so does that mean we have to watch those Burton Batman movies? And what about pop culture references and crossovers? Would we have to go through every piece of media in existence? It would be better if one series is self-contained and not crossover too much.

@Aesthetic Ballers Oh god, you’re one of those people who think a movie is a masterpiece because it got a good rotten tomato critic score or made a lot of money at the box office, but ok fine by that logic we are going to use your mindset and say with a straight face that all of Michael Bay’s transformer films are a masterpiece because it made a lot of money at the box office? Now don’t get me wrong you could like the films, it’s your opinion at the end of the day. But are you going to say that the films are objectively good for example does the film have plot holes, plot contrivances, inconsistent characterisations, inconsistent/bad world-building, inconsistent internal logic or objective examples of poor writing? If so and it ticks all or almost all the boxes then I am sorry to say this but your favourite film is objectively bad in a movie sense.
The only good film Snyder made was man of steel because of the action, good music and pretty decent writing (I still haven’t watched justice league sc yet so I won't say anything and probably never will because it’s too long also not worth of my time to watch it).
