Kremlin Calls ICC Arrest Warrant for Putin 'Outrageous'

  • Published on Mar 16, 2023 veröffentlicht
  • The Kremlin said Friday that an International Criminal Court arrest warrant issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin is “outrageous and unacceptable,” adding that Russia views the move by the International Criminal Court as void.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes related to the alleged abduction of children from Ukraine, a largely symbolic move for now that the Kremlin shrugged off.
The tribunal based in The Hague said one of its pre-trial chambers had granted a request from the prosecution filed Feb. 22 for warrants against Putin and his commissioner for children’s rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, according to a website statement.

@Justin Perry stop it with that nonsense and US propaganda lol. I served and the US absolutely committed acts that rise to the level of war crimes, which is why the US passed a law that gives them the power to occupy The Hague in the event that the ICC arrests any US service person. That Law is called the American Service-member Protection Act - ASPA, otherwise called The Hague Invasion Act. So yeah, “rules for thee not for me“!

@Henkka Henrik The ICC has no enforcement arm. Additionally, because international politics operates in a state of chaos with no real governance, powerful nations can choose to participate as they wish, e.g. the US does not recognize the ICC. If Putin were arrest by an ICC adherent that nation would have to calculate whether it could withstand the onslaught of Kaliber missiles Russia would immediately send their way. That essentially means the start of WWIII with a nuclear armed super power. All of the countries you’ve mentioned, especially the Nordic states are peons militarily. Without the US they are nothing, as a military veteran who has trained with many of them, I assure you, they would not last in a toe to toe match up with a United Russia and China and the US knows this, that’s why they are urgently trying to contain both.

@Noobmaster69 so? 123 countries out of 195 globally do recognise them. Which is a majority. And there are more powerful nations than just Russia, USA and china.
UK, Canada, Germany, South Korea, France, Japan, Australia, Switzerland and Nordic countries are all relatively powerful countries that are parties of ICC. Granted, Russia China and Russia are the top 3 when it comes to power rankings, but they're outnumbered.

War causes a great mental distress that is often underrated by the perpetrators, either on moral grounds or means of looting a nation of its natural resources based on feudal traditions of colonialism. The world is advanced beyond our wildest imagination. Mr Putin is human and I personally feel that the human spirit couldn't endure so much of unnecessary human waste we have witnessed in the invasion of Ukraine. He is getting older, and the strain is beginning to tell on his health. I followed the unacceptable invasion like it was unreal, I have been in hospital couple of times because of hypertension of both worries and managing personal life at the same time. The damage is done and it doesn't make Russia a greater nation in the eye of the world. Once Mr Putin leaves Russia in his underwater space shuttle before the international criminal agency veto a peace deal with the government of Russia and military leaders before escalation of the war into Russians infrastructure, which is currently taking place by unidentified persons, to water down military confrontation with U.S military, which won't prevail, however, for the safe return of U.S military back home and security base in Ukraine to maintain peace within its territorial integrity, then the commission for war crimes would be focused on the circumstances of coordinating the right direction to fulfill the international rule of law obligations for Ukraine, its sovereignty and right of its citizens to live in peace. Mr Putin should be afforded the right to stand trial and defend himself in a coalition negotiation with both parties. Russia and Ukraine leaders. Earlier the better in resolving this important matter. Freedom at last to the people of Russia and freedom to the people of Ukraine. The insecurities suffered by the Ukrainians by bombardment should be halted.

@Anothera Beer most countries actually are against Russia in this war now, and most countries globally are under ICC jurisdiction. ICC has power in 123 countries out of the 195 that exist in the world, so currently Putin is considered a war criminal in majority of the countries in the world, and has thus lost his diplomatic immunity in all of those countries, and could be arrested the second he sets foot into any of them.

NONSENSE! Its helpful if people inform themselves to avoid being taken for a ride by equally uninformed people. There are only 4 ways in which charges can be bought before the ICC. (a) by a State Party to the Rome Statutes (b) a Non-State Party but who wishes to bring a case against ITS OWN national who committed crimes on its territory. (c) The ICC Prosecutor on his/her own initiative against the citizen of a State Party & (d) on the referral of the UN Security Council. Period! The US & UK were not State Parties & their citizens could not be charged by the ICC. Peskov is right, that's the law! Hence the US has a law called the 'Hague Invasion Act' of 2002 which authorizes the use of military force to liberate any American or citizen of a U.S.-allied country being held by the court.

United Kingdom actually is a ratified ICC state party. UK has been under Rome statute since 2001. The only European countries that aren't part of ICC are Belarus and Ukraine.

Civility in our great world would appreciate it if you didn’t work so hard to express support for this tyrant. Yes yes lecture the ICC about it’s own rules on bringing charges. Ukraine has accepted jurisdiction and the crimes originated in Ukraine.

in order to accuse someone of kidnapping children, there must be evidence.statements about the abduction from the parents, with a description of the circumstances.it is the abduction, and not the fact that parents abandoned their children to the mercy of fate.(and this is the deprivation of parental rights).and they were picked up and sent away from the war in order to feed them corny, and so that they survived.there are children's ombundsmen in Russia.correspondence with them should be provided, where they refuse to assist in any way in the return of children, unless it is a question of deprivation of parental rights, due to the actions of parents.if the parents are dead, and the children want If relatives pick up, they must provide official documents of the refusal of the official bodies of Russia for child supervision to receive these relatives, verify their identity and transfer the evacuated children to them.Otherwise, all this is a farce and perjury, with the corresponding consequences for both the applicants and those who staged this farce on perjury.all of them will be identified and convicted, and they will not be amused for such a farce that does not have the required legal procedure.

I hope there aren't Americans posting comments here that are pro Putin. I'm unclear as to why so many Americans are starting to be pro Russia and anti democracy. To me, that is wicked ingratitude. I'm grateful to have been born into a democratic nation and very much want other image bearers to have the same gift.
