Petition to get 5 minute long highlights from a Bo5 match. 3 minutes including a walk-on is insultingly short.

Alcaraz is often over confident, arrogant when he wins and a sore looser if he looses. He need to learn much

    • Leon Axhemi
Leon Axhemi 4 months ago +52

I think he handles losing very well, he respects the opponent and leaves while clapping. Players like Tiafoe and Rune who have a big and loud players on the court are the exact opposite of that

his drop shots has improved dramatically even cobolli kept throwing his hands in despair. Absolute dominance, no mercy, yet still being nice about it.

Such a piece of match for Carlos.
He looked on a really high-level, executing exquisite dropshots and making his opponent always played an extra ball for winning the point.
Looking at this young guy playing on clay courts is seriously admirable.

    • Michele Williams

Yeah played well but the Italian wasn’t much of a challenge. Actually Alcaraz play better in hard court than clay.

    • Juan Pedro Arévalo
Juan Pedro Arévalo 4 months ago +2

@NotSoHandyTim Are you sure of that?
Cause since my point of view, Alcaraz is also a good player on clay courts and he could be a big risk for Nole in a potential match between both here (semifinals)

    • NotSoHandyTim
      NotSoHandyTim 4 months ago

@Juan Pedro Arévalo: As 2021 champion I think that Djokovic is well aware of all that you point out. If they meet, the risk will be nearly equal to both sides of the net. Foot speed vs guile. Whoever performs their strengths consistently the best will prevail. 😏

Wow. Wow! Carlos is a genius.

His wheels are something special. Impossible to forget how Rafel Nadal has beaten everyone in the top ten due to his legs. It is only possible to stay in the top ten with good legs.

    • shashank srivastava
shashank srivastava 4 months ago +8

Nadal was great with his legs but he won so much becoz of playing style which is the most unique of all tennis players especially on clay. Alcaraz has more diversity in his shots but Nadal game was very heavy for any player to deal on clay. He just makes mockery of Federer and Novak many times on clay courts just as same Federer on grass.

    • Seju
      Seju 4 months ago +11

They were not against Alcaraz, they simply celebrate that a rival who was being crushed in the previous sets, reacts and gives more battle. Its a normal thing. But you only have to see how they have applauded Carlos in amazement throughout the match with each of the big points he has made. Also the affectionate applause he received at the end of the match. We have to know how to differentiate when the public is against a player (where they even boo, something that has not happened with Carlos at any time) or when they simply celebrate that a player who was being crushed finally manages to put up a bit of a fight and lengthens a little more the match.

At some point I’d love to see Carlos add fed’s old fake drop shot to his bag. His drop shots are so good players have to be ready to sprint forward as soon as that backswing changes. Imagine how easily he would trick opponents by winding up like he’s hitting the drop shot and then just pushing it deep in the court

    • Mirea Felder

No, he's usually very clutch when he has to close games or matches. For a 20 year old he's incredibly strong mentally already.

    • Nico L
      Nico L 4 months ago

@Mirea Felder I obviously agree that he is an exceptionally good player for his age, but I've seen him lose his serve a lot of times when he is close to victory, he usually stills wins but is forced to go the extra mile nevertheless. My point is that I believe that's the only field in which he probably needs to improve, but I'm just nitpicking.

    • Mirea Felder
      Mirea Felder 4 months ago

@Nico L Are you talking about 2022? His serve definitely improved a lot this year to last year, he won Barcelona and Madrid with losing barely a set. Of course at only 20 years of age he's still beatable and has some bad days until he reaches his peak level at maybe 21, 22? But Alcaraz right now is still the best of all players over 52 weeks with a over 90% win/loss index.

Anyone who plays with Alcaraz will be tired.Because it requires more energy to run and if the opponent wants to drop back, Alcaraz's speed can fight with the drop ball.
So whoever plays with Alcaraz is tired and lost.
