I bought a crash damaged 2019 BMW M5 Competition from a mechanic that decided not to carry on with the repair after he found some pretty serious chassis damage. But if i can repair and restore the BMW M5 for around £10,000 then im on to a winner!

as a bbody tech i can tell you for a fact that the tower has moved as well as the whole front has probably shifted to the right, i love the fact that you are rebuilding it but take it to a shop so they can measure it and so they can fix the structural damage, the car is not bad at all i have repaired way worse but it takes years of practice to know how to do it properly and for all others that are watching this content please do not attempt to fix structural damage unless you are qualified to do so and also you have the right tools
Hear,hear Matt please listen…👍🏼
A Hammer ....
Black Jack Jig anyone
Agreed. wants to be on a jig, the inner wing, turret top and NS leg replace for me.
@Some kind of Wonderful not to mention mat will probably be modding it like crazy so it will be even more danger. way better to be safe than sorry
I feel sorry for Hannah. Imagine having one of those mega hangovers and Matt is bouncing around being all positive, happy and enjoying his own hangover 😀 ❤️
Hannah Will like it soon when fixed
Good luck blad. Regardless on whether or not the car gets back to looking like it's out the main dealer showroom (HOPE IT DOES) i just wanna say hats off to you for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone daily. You are an inspiration to many generations of people, and you're doing Leicester PROUD! Good luck lad. 👍🏼
Discovered you by accident, Mat and I've gotta' say mate - I'm addicted to your channel! You have a real talent for not only creating content that draws you in, your voice over is also top notch. It takes a lot of balls to risk what you have and I wish you ever success for the future, mate. Cheers, Justin from Perth, Australia.
Fair play to you Mat, you have a heart like a lion to take these projects on and push yourself to the limit to get these cars back on the road. Just came across your channel by accident but already loving it. Great videos, keep up the good work!
To dismantle everything is a challenge but then to put it all back together it’s just unbelievable. Amazing stuff.
This is already one of my favourite rebuilds on the channel
Same because I am a bmw fan😂😂and the m5 is my most favourite car
Same here lol, I’ve always loved the bmw 5 series generally
I heard a lot about investing with Mrs. Allison Parker and how good she is, please how safe are the profit?
I'm a long time investor, withdraw my profit of over £ 56,000 during the covid 19 pandemic
incredible how much patience and passion you must have to be able to see this project through to the end.
Don’t think of how difficult it’ll be, think of how awesome it’ll be when it’s finished.
Ok alex Burke
What a legend, an absolute mammoth task you’ve taken on to repair that damage, a mad man for sure and for all the right reasons. MA I love all your content, your projects are all awesome. Maximum love and respect from a trie fan ✊🏽
Congratulations on the success of the channel Matt, it’s well deserved and I really enjoy the content
It’s always a good day when Mat uploads another rebuild episode ❤️
Awesome video and hats off to you for taking on a challenge only few would even think about doing. Love the mentality of just going for it and dealing with any issues as they arise. Be great if you can ping me so i can get you to attend a future car meet as a special guest.
Just come across this blokes videos and can't stop watching them. Think he does a great job with whatever he buys. Keep doing what you're doing mate and learning along the way! Can't wait for the next m5 video! 👍
Hey Mat don't forget to add those LCI front and rear lights when you get to that part. You probably are gonna do it based on your way of doing things. The facelifted version looks 100 times better in my opinion. I love this BMW model, one of my favorites.
Keep going strong !!
I am currently just going back through all the playlists and and videos on this channel as i only came across it about a month ago and need to catch up because it is awesome and Mat is a total legend :)
One of the things that does make me laugh is Mat always says "I know people are going to hate me for this" but i can honestly say i don't think i have seen a negative or bad comment or even a thumbs down on any video yet.
@Mat who cares about the hatters anyway there are far more of us that love you and the content you give us keep it coming
Not really a car guy but I love to do repairs. Yours are on another level, never would have thought you could repair a crashed car like that. Keep up the great videos
Although that front cross member went in relatively easy, both chassis leg ends have probably moved over half a centimetre. You need to get them straightened up or you can easily run into fitment issues when putting the car back together.
What you talking about it fitted by whacking it with a hammer? This is why I never touch repaired accident damaged cars
I totally agree! It should go in without hammer.
@Lyam Shah Yeh but it still went in relatively easy. No bending was required to get the chassis legs in. Just needed persuading
@Jimmy how do you know the part that got hammered in diidnt flex in the process? I can't believe where even discussing this stats show a 5 star ncap car incorrectly repaired can go to a 1 star
Hi Matt, hands down for me your channel and content is way ahead of any other - it’s interesting and inspirational. From one car nut to another I wish you and your team all the success and I look forward to more of your episodes.
Have a good Christmas all
Love your work Mat, always worth following!!
One of the best rebuild videos I've ever seen. It keeps me feel like I want to know more on the rebuild. Nice video mate.
awesome. wish you all the best in putting this together and running it the way it should. Cheers
This is gonna be a good rebuild can’t wait for the end result 🎉
Looks like you got pretty lucky with the damage, i’d check that frame rail on all axis’ to determine which way its out, as far as that strut mount its probably attatched with 3m panel bond, go to a Lotus dealer and ask to buy their panel bond adhesive or what they use.
Happy new year man! Can't wait for the next episode.
Your vids are damn good, 20 minutes feels like 5.
Let's go for 1 mil subs in January.
BMW them self's would be terrified of that challenge. Only a master and someone with patience of a Saint would even think about it. Love your videos matt .you prove to people that anything is possible. Can't wait to see the end result of this one.
Thank you fort he upload Mat! Very entertaining! Lots of upgrades that you can do e.g. new fuel lines: air intakes; turbos, choice is yours but as you will enjoy this ride & then sell it you might as well take it to the next level. I expect an additional 100HP to be added from a stage one upgrade.
Peace & Love!!!
Yet another time you prove us wrong guys! What an inspiration you are!! Very informative content
Hey Mat, love your outlook on life. Keep it going. One question and something I struggle with, how the hell do you store all the bits you take off so you have a chance of finding them when the time comes to put it back together? I can’t even keep my tools safe 13mm socket safe for more than a few minutes
For reference mat boats used to be riveted together and planes still are, it gives the ability to flex while still being strong, top tip for doing the strut, take photos or a video of the whole removal process taking notice of the points where the bonding glue is used because you'll probably find it's not one continuous seam. Hope you find that useful. Good luck.
You are telling him to take a video ? Really ? Not his first repair job . . .
@Wayne Pantry its not a perfect world, jonathan gave very useful advice
@Wayne Pantry negativity is not wanted here fella
@Wayne Pantry what mat doesn't do is map things out as he pulls them apart, he admits this very often, so rather than trying to be a big man be useful or keep your comments to yourself. As a mechanic and mot tester for 20 years I know what happens when you just blast into pulling something new apart you get excited by how easily it's going then when you go to pit it back together half the time you have no idea how you took it apart.
@Jonathan Smith I always get some cardboard, draw out the component and stick the bolts though! I always make notes as well because if your video fails then you're stuffed!
I'd say you've done an amazing job so far and most of it you'll defo be able to take your time and work out yourself but the strut turret, I'd defo get that done by a professional with the right experience and gear. A car like that needs to be spot on
Mat has got me into rebuilds damn i'm now addicted lol
I really enjoy watching all the repair work that Mat and Co do on all these cars. Best of luck Mat and all the best for 2023!!
Iv just watched both episodes back to back and I’m looking for the other then realised that it’s only 11 days old 😢 hoping your going to upload another in the next hour or so 😁
Love watching it and looking forward to the next , kind of inspired me to crack my 130 piece Halfords professional ratchet set out n go looking for smashed up sports cars to sort out 😁💪👏🏻
Looking forward to this journey. It’s going to fun
Can’t wait to see the upgrades 😁😁😁😁
I can’t tell you just how excited I am for this rebuild! Keep up the good work!
omg man ur vids and seeing u all happy and positive are the only thing that makes me happy and in a good mood these days i stumbled across ur videos like a week ago and i cant get enough of them it is lowkey therapy and iam loving it keep it up matt!! ❤️❤️
Excited for this one! You have one helllllava task ahead of you!! Gonna be epic mat
This looks like it’s going to definitely test you Matt what a good car for the channel and we definitely need a TT again to pay homage to where you come up to now
I would honestly put this on a body jig and have a remeasure and check the specs. It’s probably going to need a slight pull.Defiantly worth doing though. I’ve done training on “shark”jigs and minor jig work and would highly recommended getting it done! Loving this build!
Merry Christmas to you Hanna, Kevin and family 🎉 thanks for all the maxing car builds and laughs. This M5 😮 bonne courage😊
Mat is quickly becoming one of my favorite content creators! How does this guy not have double, or even triple the subs he's got??.. love this channel...😁👍👍
Mat you always seem to amaze me can't wait for the next live raffle I was so close to winner last time haha
Merry christmas to you and the family massive respect from Andy Holderness
Hey Mat, as a current F90 M5 comp owner ( which also happens to be Donnington Grey) this rebuild will be of a specific interest to me. The M5 is an incredible car, and in standard spec will destroy most cars on the road and embarrass some super car owners all in the comfort of a 5 seater saloon with golf clubs in the boot. I have been a subscriber to your channel for some time now and know how you like to add your own little mod touches to your builds so I will be interested to see what mods you have planned for this, some upgraded LCI headlights & tail lights is a good starting point with maybe a stage 1 or 2 tune, but these cars already put out masses of power. I am more than happy to provide my car as a reference for any checks or measurements you would like to do.
Keep up the incredible work with the channel, the content is right on the money, this is the only channel i sunscribe too and don't know where you find the time to be honest. Merry Christmas to you and your team and looking forward to the next instalment in the M5 rebuild
Lots of respect Matt! Thanks for the video.
Show us behind the scenes of how you catalog and store all the parts for your builds.
You are an absolute legend! Subscribed! Very excited to see the progress. Will also watch the other projects.
A friend recommended your channel a week ago and I am so thankful for that.
I have binged all your rebuilds and I am so excited to come along for this one and many more as they happen!
Much love from Germany!
this is very fascinating work, great camera footage and edits, def earned a new subscriber. the part when you said the more you take off the more you wonder how it will all go back on worries me sometimes too but you will triumph over this my brother!
This is way more fun than any Netflix documentary. Great viewing ❤👏🏼👏🏼
Mat hats off to you. Started my own business 23 years ago with 2 kids and 1 on the way. It takes a huge set off nads and confidence not to mention hard work to get were you are. F the nay sayers at home sitting on their asses sending negative comments, best of luck to you, just started your channel yesterday and I am loving it!!
The Segway to the sponsorship made me laugh 😂 looking forward to seeing this build progress!
That's a challenge for sure ! Which is why I love working on old cars. But you'll get it back together and enjoy it.
I‘d love to see a video on what happens with all the parts once you take the cars apart - what’s the storing / documenting process to ensure you get all the parts back together the way they were?
Yeah this would be great to see!
I was thinking exactly the same - I’m almost anxious wondering, what if something goes missing or you’re left with something and don’t know where it should be :/
It's encouraged in watchmaking to record yourself dissembling the watch. Remember he has loads of footage that ultimately gets cut for us. Very handy when you've got extra parts 😉
That's part of the reason he does these videos!
grate vid again mat ! keep up the hard work. you can get it sorted brother ! looking forward to the next vid :)
Great content Mat. Love the dedication bruh. All the way from Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦
Love your tenacity to find the single part you need👍👍👍
Can’t wait to see this build progress!
The M5 makes the Mercielago look easy to work on ... Pretty cool to watch
This is gonna be a sick build honestly 😉😉😉
You’ve got a tiger by the tail on this rebuild, Mat 😮
Wow huge crazy job man!! Now that i’ve changed the glowplugs on my 330d it doesn’t feel like much 😂 respect !
What a great project. Awesome job. You will get it finished and it will look straight out the factory..
Wow can't believe how quick you got that out and stripped Matt !! Fantastic grafting that !!! 😁👌When that tower is cut out and replaced it'll be like new !!
Mat your such a champ !! Love watching your videos. Much love from Kamloops , British Columbia Canada ! God bless EH ! 😊
🏁🏁Kudos to Mat for pushing the limit to make amazing interesting content …Merry Christmas mate 😎🤙🏾
How on earth do you do it. Just looks impossible to me how you can get that engine out and to remember where everything goes. Your talent is incredible Mat. I've watched every build since the audi on your drive. Your mechanical skills have become insane. Your channel is by far the best on Clip-Share. Absolutely love it. All the best for the New Year mate and I can see big big things happening for you.
Thanks so much bro
When I've done something similar just take mountains of photos.
Love these videos Mat! Got me hooked once I watched the Porsche one I can’t get enough now 😂
Well played for having a go Mat, as always. Brave lad.
This car is certainly going to be a challenge beyond what's been done before. But you can rise to the challenge... great upload.
Can't wait to see the end result of this rebuild. One of my favourite cars of all time. Good luck Mat!
Nothing but respect. Waiting so eagerly to see the beauty fly! ❤️
I like when the whole gang of May Armstrong works together. Such a fun to watch!
Loving the videos so much you should definitely widebody the car it would look dope
I can’t wait to see this beauty when she’s finally finished gonna be a proper animal with a real meaning behind it keep it up here to watch the journey 🎉
Impressive work so far Mat, I did cringe when you used that length of silicon hose to join the oil pipes, hopefully it didn't do any damage when the engine started and the hose expanded. Looking forward to next installment. Subscribed 👍
Congrats on all the success Mat, Been watching for a long time!
Good luck mate, can't wait to see the M5 back on the road.
Yet again another brilliant video never get fed up watching keep it up
Matt, I've just watched your video with Shmee, you really are a great guy. I love watching your videos and you seem soo down to earth, and your relationship with Hannah is testament to what a nice Chap you are! Keep up the good work mate, Tom

Mate my whole day is made when I see one of your uploads! Thank you 😊
Super excited for another build! Massive love from Arizona Mat keep up the epicness!
As we used to say in heavy engineering up here in lancashire, "that's a big job just broke out" but I am confident that if anyone can do it Matt you can mate. All the best happy Christmas to you both and another great year to come
Looking forward to see the end result 👍, so far so good.
I'm intrigued how this will go, hope you fix it Mat.
Can’t wait to see how you overcome this build
wow this thing is so much more complicated than your Murcielago can't believe youve taken it on. enjoying the ride watching you working on it good luck !
Hey man loving the m5 series so far , by the way the prop shaft is two piece and splits at the centre bearing mount just remember to mark it up as the shafts are balanced so will need to go back together aligned
Mat you are amazing drifty and have my deepest respect 💪♥️Love from Sweden
So as M340i owner myself I'm a massive fan of all things BMW - Can't wait for the next installment to see how this all works out 🤙🏼
With the amount of ongoing builds, keeping up with the upload. You are a madman.
Very brave to take this on but, that’s why I enjoy your content. Fantastic mate 😀 Merry Christmas to you all
This build is looking good. Even though it just started I’m excited to see how it turns out
