I will glitch or mod the game if need be.
This is why I have 3 rules at my d&d tables...
Rule 1, anything in front of the players will be interacted with in some way.
Rule 2, if it is not observed, it will be going home with the players.
Rule 3, the players can and will ruin any plan I think is guaranteed.
They were getting a delivery of heavy armors for a guy, and they managed to snake one out for themselves really early in a Cyberpunk game. ^^;

This is so relatable. A powerful weapon that one shots enemies and would be super OP for the entire game somehow has to be left behind for no reason.
Probably one of the worst things for a game to have. Once somebody is given the taste of heaven, they’ll never be able to go back.
I mean if you could take it, it would have a big downside like “-60%hp -100% element resistance”

You can do this in dying light 2,a glitch helps you get a mission weapon from the dlc that deals high damage and has high durability and even if you are low on durability you can still repair it with the korek charm

Years ago playing a dungeon crawler board game called Warhammer quest, I encountered an event that caused me to loose a random item. This happened to be a sword that had been handed to us pre setting off on the dungeon dive. Reaching the boss room the DM started getting all fired up by proclaiming our parties “doom” for foolishly bringing this cursed sword back to its trapped master.. freeing him once more to plague the land and bring ruin to all…bwahahahah… this quickly became an embarrassing silence and situation after explaining that the sword was destroyed like 5 rooms ago, didn’t you remember that incident…

Instead of having the player drop the gun themselves, make it so the gun breaks right when the last enemy gets killed. That way the loss is less annoying than being forced to leave the super OP weapon behind.
Or the part that powers the gun is needed to protect the city.
Or have it break on the last few enemies so it doesn’t feel so unnatural, and you just kill the last few normally.
Ie it powered the city’s defense grid and is needed for the mission to save it.
Like in re 7 with the chainsaw after the mutated jack baker fight,you use it to cut a steel bar to access a door which in turn snaps the chainsaw in half(the steel thing that holds the belt)

@Jacob Santos Hamish is the anti hero, the sorcerer who defiles the corpse as the player respawns and appears just in time to see Hamish finishing up... Imagine what he would do to all of Honeywood.. he would have wood for all of them, evil wood... naughty wood... then he would have his way with all the heroes, especially Adam, as he forces them to play Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

Fun Fact: most open world games that have this kind of quests has a bit of loophole
So if you get ur hands on the temporary weapon but you can't leave the quest area to take it for yourself

Abandon the quest by failing it
-like killing a major character
-or if there's a feature of abandoning it
Ciri's steel sword be like:
Your supposed to enter and exit the menu 5 times and then fast travel to your base. As long as you don't complete the quest you can keep it.
I remember several missions in City of Heroes where the cool temp powers got moved to mission completion instead of picking them up midway.

Unlike other weapon types, machine guns have a delay, making it a lot more fair.
Hell, in Team Fortress, spies exist, and they tend to take down Heavy’s quite often.

He did a speedrun technique that let's him keep the gun. You see that during his fight with the friendly NPC, the animation of the fight nudged his hitbox slightly out of the invisible barrier. After cancelling the fight animation, he continues to run towards the barrier until he gets through.
In Mafia 2 in chapter 1 and 4 There are so called turret sections where you get an MG 42 With infinite ammo. But you can only fire in one direction and cannot move it it also last a few seconds each time before it permanently gets locked and no more enemies spawn.

@Alexis Leskinen Yes. But nobody ever acknowledges when you make a potion that does 10 million damage or a chest piece that gives you negative health. I want the code breaking to be part of the story, so the NPCs acknowledge it.
@GlitchedMuse a combat fork not a potion. And hopefully the chatgpt mod will progress to that point. Cant wait for every game to have high level AI implementation in 20 years.
