Troy Baker (Joel in the game)as one of David’s men and Ashley Johnson (Ellie in the game) as Ellie’s mom, so glad they’re getting a time to shine in the show too!
Wanted to see Joel and Tess kill Roberts men. Wanted to see joel and Tess torture Robert. Wanted to see Tess shoot Robert twice in the face point blank. Wanted to see how the soldiers would shoot unarmed civilians with out hesitation in the city in broad day light. Wanted to see Joel and Tess execute the two soldiers stoping them instead one. Why so pg 13. Toned down to to much.

@alfr8do that kinda actually looks like bella ramsey the actor of current ellie delivering someones baby and she had to hold them, cmon thats gotta be it, maybe joel and ellie comes across a pregnant woman and ellie had no choice to deliver her baby, i believe that scenario could be possible instead actually seeing ellie’s mom in a flashback that could still happen though but it crazy for people to jump at the thought of actually seeing ellie’s mother the moment they see an unrecognized woman, i remember when people thought that abby from part 2 was ellie’s mom in the trailers 😂
I was pleasantly surprised and PLEASED at how well this was made and how it stayed close to the source material. And I liked how some of the iconic scenes from the game's intro were in the first episode; they were almost a shot-for-shot refilming of the game's action sequences. The casting is on point as well. THIS is how you cater to fans of your source material, and still produce quality content.
Episode 3 though. Watch the trailer. The first two episodes are close to the game. But changed some things for the better. However episode three is about raiders at bills. Instead of the sneaking through town to get to the school. They hinted that since no spores. There are no bloaters. So no big fight at the school. Which means a complete derailment from the game.
@Theocritus Yeah D&D cut ties with GRRM in the later part of the show's run, GRRM was originally working with them writing the show but they made choices that didn't sit right with Goerge and that's why he was out. And yes, the early seasons was great not only coz of source material which GRRM wrote, he was also there writing and offering guidance.
This first episode really goes to show how incredibly well made & important the game was for the industry as a concept for storytelling. Games after the last of us all followed suit. Translates so well to the screen, from to the script to the directing
Video games have truly grown into a medium for damned good storytelling. I just recently got started on Ragnarok as well, and I hear they want to adapt Horizon Zero Dawn as a television series - I really hope they do that one right, if I hadn’t known better I’d have thought they adapted the game story from a novel.
@Jeffrey Greco I'm not criticising any of the casting. I'm just noting that people have a priority on Ellie looking unattractive than they do with how other characters swapped races. That is concerning.
@120mm Smoothbore Pedro & Gabriel nailed Joel & Tommy and it wouldn't make sense for Sarah to be blonde haired and blue eyed with a Hispanic father and uncle. Maybe Pedro was the best choice for Joel and the went with continuity with his ethnicity
This is an extraordinary series, I was amazed when I saw the first episode launched and it always makes me curious about the next episode. HBO never disappoints its viewers!
This show is incredible so far. Well done HBO, you really know how to give the fans a great show and do it justice! Hats off to Pedro Pascal, this has the potential to be his best role yet imo. Bella Ramsey is knocking it outta the park too. And the episose lengths are fantastic, enough time to really get into it. Cant say enough good things to far, it feels good to be excited about a series again!
@Ryan Finks I just dont understand why you want them to rush through the story. I want them to take their sweet time and put as many stories in as possible to get as many seasons as possible, as long as they maintain this quality level of storytelling.
I just want to know why episode 3 is a filler episode. How many more filler episodes are we going to be getting? Save yourself the time and only watch the last 10 minutes. You won't miss anything important.
Pedro Pascal has a talent playing characters with tough exteriors who are trying to transport children across long distances slowly starting to love that child like his own despite seeing them merely as cargo at the beginning of the journey.
Nico Parker did an excellent job of being instantly likeable, it is very difficult to make the audience care about your character with such little time on screen but her death was gut wrenching, the girl will go far in life. Pedro is as brilliant as he always is aswell, can't wait for more.
@S S The race swapping is whatever, the game is the canonical version of TLOU universe. If it bothers you that much just skip the scenes, btw Maria Miller will be black as well so don't get up in arms about that.
@Joshua Campbell Obviously considering one only affects a tv show I was prepared and even expecting to see flop like a lot of live action series based on videogames and the other affects our culture and every series out there, not just this one
Just saw the first episode and wow what an episode it was. They nailed every single detail possible, the problem I have with this show is that I can't binge watch it and it will have only 2 seasons. Can't wait for next episodes
@120mm Smoothbore I disagree. I don't think things magically become good or bad based on how many people think they are good or bad. There is such a thing as objective technical merit when it comes to things like writing.
@Adam Plentl The story will be bad or good depending on how it is perceived, that's the basis of everything that's ever to exist. Some people like it, some people don't. In the case of TLOU2, most people dislike it whilst some like it because of the reasons stated.
@Dan&josh Odartey Because they tried to pull some sort of character redemption at the end where Ellie doesn't brutally murder Abby like she should've. Ellie goes through the trouble of tracking the people down that killed Joel over the course of months across the entire country, slowly and meticulously carving a path towards Abbie, killing pregnant women and beloved dogs just for her to suddenly decide to spare Abbie? The person that beat her father to death with a golf club in front of her? She loses her wife, her child, doesn't avenge Joel (the whole point of the game) and loses all her friends in the process. It's ridiculous.
I’m so happy with how well they executed this show. As all others I’ve only saw the first episode but I’m really impressed with this masterpiece game turned into such a masterpiece show. I was sadly disappointed with the uncharted movie. Nothing against mark wahlberg, but he was not a good choice for sully. What happened to Sully’s cigar? The actors and actresses in TLOU HBO series really nailed their characters so far. I was so happy to find out that they were making TLOU part 2. Phenomenal storyline for both. I’m so excited to see more and the anticipation for the upcoming episodes.
Knowing the scenes from the game, I'm both extremely excited and horrendously nervous to see this. Not because I think they'll do it badly, but because it's gonna emotionally HURT SO BAD.
@Yin_Nyang Yeah I'm starting to see where the mentally ill teenager stuff comes from, 16 year old "non-binary" with an opinion that makes no sense. What someone does in the real life outside of their acting career doesn't mean anything. Ramsay has experience playing stubborn young/teenager girls and she played Ellie perfectly in the first episode.
@Yin_Nyang An actor with experience in playing young girls won't be able to have the facial expressions of a young girl? Your opinion matches your age, ignorant and unfounded.
@120mm Smoothbore First of all I am a 16 year old non-binary. And secondly, the Actress playing Ellie looks nothing like the character in the game meaning she won’t be able to capture the facial expressions that Ellie in the game had. It will seem cheap. *Period*
This is great. It’s definitely gonna be one of the best video game adaptations. I’m glad I continuing watching this. Unlike another HBO Max show that is a spin off and focusing on less funny humor, treating the characters terribly, even taking the mascot off because it’s mostly for children… You know what I’m talking about at the end…
This show so far while only one episode so far blew me away. Its soooooo good. Sticking to alot of exact scenes from the game. Camera views and all. Chefs kiss
Knowing it's coming from the guys who made the Chernobyl mini-series, I have good faith, Pedro Pascal is phenomenal. The bad thing is how many times this show will make me cry if done properly. TLOU was one of the first games that I really got connected to, one of the best games of all time IMO. Lets not mess it up!
@Ray Lopez To be honest, I hope someone deep fakes him into it just to show how awful it would be. "No need for a plane ticket dear, we will just hold onto the fuselage!"
@John Johnson Nah, I feel his accent is good. Gives it a differential from other roles he has played, i.e. The Kingsman. Makes it a bit more appealing for worldwide audiences. Chernobyl is a good example, they mostly use clean English, than some lad from Yorkshire or Liverpool who uses almost entirely their own dialect.
Just saw the first episode and it was amazing. You respected the source material, thank you. I hope the showrunners don’t pull a Witcher or GoT and go off the rails with it and make the story unrecognizable and nonsensical. I am all for changes that make sense, honours the source material and even improves upon the original. All I care about is that the writing is great and makes sense, the story isn’t rushed because the showrunners are bored and want to wrap up the show early to go work on something else, and that the story doesn’t take a wild turn for the worst like The Witcher and Game of Thrones.
Last of Us first episode was amazing, captured the vibe and feel of the games perfectly, Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal are the perfect choice for Joel and Ellie 👏👏👏👏
watched 1st serie - very good actors play and everything looks really good, as game itself. good dynamic not boring. after house of a dragon its totally unexpectfully good quality
I hope this will make people realize what an experience and how generation defining the game was. I hope this game makes people respect videogames as art and recognize that some games have better stories than movies. This is one of them. Thank you everyone at Naughty Dog .
@Ugandalf the Brown and yet it's still one of the most beloved video game stories/gameplay loops of the previous generations? One of the playstations best sellers on two generations of consoles. So your point is?
@I Need More Flavour that not really a counter point, or at best it’s a flimsy one, like I could say, ”it’s great, hence why everyone rememberers it”. You may not remember it because the story didn’t resonate with you for whatever reasons but I remember every part of it large in part because a lot of game don’t make you sit with the choices of the character like The Last of Us 2 did.
@bruce wayne I’m 28. Some of my favourite game series I’ve played are Uncharted, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout, GTA, COD, Assassins Creed, Batman Arkham, but story wise I think The Last of Us is better than all of them.
Watched the pilot yesterday. Probably the most pleasantly surprised I've been in a long time. After the dumpsterfire that the _Halo_ series is, I was incredibly skeptical that this show would be any better and would do the game justice. Boy, how wrong I've been. This is what a quality series looks like, 343. This is a warning to other game executives considering the production of a TV series; if you're not sure you can pull out something that matches _The Last of Us_ in terms of presentation and quality, don't bother.
They will be moving away from it at times, as they've stated before. One of their already shown deviations from the game is that the infected now spread through tendrils in the mouth rather than spores in the air.
1st episode review for those who have played the game: 9/10, everything is well executed, some parts are better than the game some parts worse. I Personally loved the extra time we spent in the pre-apocalypse, the car scene was more suspensful, Sarah death a little bit less emotional but that might also be because I already knew what was going to happen. The acting is superb, Pedro Pascal feels like Joel, I have still got to get over the phisionomical difference from Ellie, but Bella Ramsay sure can act. The thing that the show undoubtedly does better is the atmosphere, and also condensing some boring parts and expanding where it's needed. One negative note: I feel like the titles should have been put exactly after Sarah death just like in the game, It gives more impact and time to process what happened. (I will keep adding reviews for each episode)
After I played the first game I said it needed to be made into a movie. Nearly 10 years later, after all the talk of movies/making a series were finally getting it. Feels like a dream come true. I hope it lives up to the game because it was the best game I have ever played
@Dmitry V I'm no hater, but TLOU is good because it has a good story. The gameplay is only solid (as in its perfect for the game but not the best) Just staying within the type of game (zombie/apocalypse), there are plenty of games with "better" gameplay like metro, fallout, state of decay, project zomboid, STALKER. Going out of it you have plenty more, Batman series, Spider-Man series, Tomb raider series, Red Dead & GTA series and etc. Not including plenty of gameplay focused games like X-Com etc. Heck, I'd even say that Uncharted has better gameplay because the puzzle elements are better there because they are a main part of the gameplay. The main part of TLOU is stealth combat. Scavenging for parts is the second main gameplay element (which isn't anything new) and "puzzles" are just mini environmental breaks from the action (understandably not complex given the scenarios).
@OneTwoMark And that's what we call good casting. You get actors who can embody the character and then transform them into the character, not the opposite. We don't need cosplayers.
All I have to say is thank you Netflix for not making a last of us adaptation on their platform we know how that would’ve ended and thank you hbo max for making a true adaptation to a amazing game and sticking with the music source material ❤so happy Netflix stayed away from this masterpiece
I've seen episodes one and two, but haven't seen the trailer, and when I see it now, it's very emotional, plus the music is epic, adds to the emotional atmosphere
I like the launch trailer also of this show with the original soundtrack from the game. If you played the game, it hits harder cause it's from a powerful scene from the video game.
I honestly had low expectations for this at first, but this looks REALLY good. Also I like how they're putting their own twist with additional dialouge and scenes while staying faithful to the game.
@Shockked aye well I'm glad you enjoyed it!!! I like Bella as Ellie but I agree we are gonna have to watch the whole thing before our judgements can be finalized! So stoked for Ep 2 tomorrow!!
@Jeffrey Greco I take back everything I said. Legitimately everything. I made this comment over a month ago. I’m still on the fence about Ellie, but everyone else killed it.
@Shockked the casting is top tier. Pedro nailed Joel so far, Bella nailed Ellie. Marlene is the same actress who voiced her. Gabriel Luna embodied Tommy. Just bc you don't like how they look doesn't mean it was bad casting
I immediately wrote this show off, as I’m tired of the same “end of civilization” type films, they’ve made the plot into countless movies. The only reason I gave it a shot was for Pedro Pascal. It’s actually really good y’all. Like seriously. You will not be disappointed!
I hope people don't write this off as "just another apocalypse show" because the Last of Us really is one of the best stories told in a game, that I've encountered. If they stick as closely as possible to the source material, this is going to be special.
@Leg explain how one of the flashbacks is half of this game then lol. That's not a biased opinion. I legitimately think the games pacing is hindered by all of the flashbacks. And no. The first game didn't need, nor did it have, any at all.
@phil the first game didn’t need any flashbacks? The flashbacks in the second game show events that happened in between the first and second game. Not sure how flashbacks make the storytelling bad. I’d be glad to accept an unbiased opinion as to why you think the story was bad.
After episode 1 this seems like its gonna do well. Only complaint is some of the actor choices for the characters on a visual standpoint. Acting seems to be solid so far but Tommy, Sarah and Ellie could have had the actors look alot more like they do in the game but its not a huge deal. Just a nitpick
@uuserThe writer was actually pressured by this woke feminist crazy woman. Forgot her name. She influenced the writing heavily. Anna Sarkasian I think? The game was gonna be very different before she joined.
@phil maybe you’re being ironic here but just in case you’re not; you don’t like “controlling a character” that is literally the point in most games. If you don’t like that there aren’t many games left to choose from
I really enjoyed the first episode. Even the voices match up..I know it will be hard to do but i might wait till end of season 1 to watch it again so i can binge watch it..
I think they cast Joel and Ellie great, no matter what people say. they may not look like the characters in the game but they are 2 great actors and I’m excited to see what they do
@120mm Smoothbore take it easy, so we talking about ugly people with talent and black race now, umm ok. Maybe you should look in the mirror than message me your talents. :)
@Mochi Puzzles Would you rather them sacrifice acting ability to get someone a bit closer to Ellie? Are you also annoyed at Sarah being black, Joel's wife being black or Maria Miller being black? You're more outraged that a teenager isn't attractive than you are at people swapping races. Get a grip.
Ellies sarcasm, joels indifference, the clickers, a bloater, traversing rooftops with boards, Tommy being there for his brother, etc... It's just like the game.
And to your original comment, you ultimately can't tell it's just like the game until you play it. Trailers aren't everything my dude. I'm sure you know this too though. I hate to sound like a pretentious a$$. I do hope it turns out. But we don't know.
@Catdaddy666 It's also been told a thousand times over in the Bible. But surely you already know that. Just makes you think that maybe it's more than just symbolic (not that it can't be). But when it's repeated so many times and is generally loaded with literal truth statements after another that we can not only figuratively but also practically take from it and hopefully let it impactfully transform to our own life-and see how it's been historically passed on so many times, along with the figures that reside within it. Which have lived on to inspire Christendom itself, many people and many institutions worldwide, and many other stories themselves like LOTR, I think it goes a little beyond that. If that makes sense. Of course, I won't undermine lectures that Jordan Peterson has on them for example. I'm sure you know him. He's a fan of Jung aswell and tends to extrapolate it from a more symbolic viewpoint. And in doing so, he sheds some theological truths in his own right and tries to bring to light its meaning when many tend to take the thing for granted. But it's inevitably not a flawless perspective. But it's something to consider. Anyway, I know this may be such a absurdly off-stranded thought tangent thing to say on this particular video, but for the sake of the discussion here, I hope it's helpful. And likewise, you need Christ. Go find Him. If not that, truth. And those lectures may also help. Making baseless & arbitrary claims won't.
@Seth Damn I have to apologize to you now. Will you accept my cyberspace hugs sent in binary? You know the heroes journey is the oldest story and it only makes sense, no matter how original something is, that the heroes journey has been told thousands of times over. Jungian theory is cool as fu! When you get over his matrixes and math.
3 years ago, I watched a BBC documentary about this fungus in ants, And then I said to my friends, " What if they made a zombie movie with this". After years, Here I'm watching this 💙
Honestly after what happened in the Last of Us II (almost everyone hating the game) i wouldn't mind hbo to change the story for a possible season 2 and go with something better hopefully, would be hard to do worse. Loving this season very respectfull to a loved game and story.
Actually they SHOULD change season 2 episode. Otherwise I won't bother. I don't want to see a man's journey who eventually will be reduced to a golf ball.
“You may not be her father, but you were someone’s.” Damn Henry never said that in the game and that’s a great line. I can’t wait to see some original writing for this new show that mixes with the game writing and the fact that they have Neil Druckman helping is how you know it won’t disappoint.
@Pawelec Widelec You're saying the ppl working on the show thinks the audience is dumb, so they have to spell what Joel thinks of Ellie....even though the line was already in the game.
@DehydratedTree good to know that you have years of experience in the field and have made better masterpieces yourself. im glad somebody finally recognized that and made you king omg 💀 ong anyone who claims they are better than professionals that critics adore gives me either 14 year old needs to touch grass vibes, or 40 year old divorced dad who got into a right wing pipeline vibes
@Richard Jefferies Amy had NOTHING to do with TLOU. Do your own research and stop copying misinformation that read on the internet. Druckmann 100% wrote TLOU1. That's why he took the credit for it and got put in full charge of the sequel. Which I honestly do think was a mistake. He wasn't the director of the first one (Bruce Straley was) so he didn't have the power to let his ego get the better of him like he did with part 2. So yeah while I agree he definitely screwed up the sequel big time, there's no denying the fact that he is indeed capable of writing a more than decent story when kept on a tight leash. Uncharted 4 literally provides this theory as well.
The fact that Neil Druckmann is helping gives me great pause. he didn't write it and he fired the woman who did and then he made LoU2, which sucked b@llz.
I enjoyed the first episode with very compelling scenes, credible and pressing dialogues, I have strong doubts about the number of episodes that could water down the contents
The mall lighting up, Riley and Ellie taking a picture, Sam hugging his brother, Bill meeting his partner, Ellie and Joel hugging!!!!! This show is going to tear us apart!!!😭❤😄 BEYOND EXCITED!!!
Watching the first episode and it's really really good praise to the film crew how much they try to follow the game steps Take notes Resident Evil! That's how you film a game!!!
I can’t wait to watch this. The game was the most emotionally involving one I have ever played. It was almost like an interactive movie and had me close to tears on more than one occasion. I am so happy to see that at last someone is making a game into a great television drama.
@Juan Francisco Rivera Valcárcel You cant really say that bruh..I heard many people saying that the writing and pacing goes downhill in the Last of us 2 and it was just a generic and an unnecessary sequel with relentless violence.. I never played the game,so i cant really judge..so i actually appreciate the other guy's opinion as he is a Berserk enjoyer..as in this case,we cant really state a simple objective right answer..
HBO did something special with the first episode and I was truly impressed. My only critique is the one that really can ruin the whole thing which was casting. They really decided to go more 2023 with casting instead of 2013 which really shows, and the target audience won't be please.
One of my favorite zombie serie was the walking dead. If I compare the pilots with each other: last of us has a very strong beginning but towards the end it felt like less strong. Where the Walking dead pilot had a slow beginning but a very strong end.
@120mm Smoothbore lmao I am not about to argue with a brick wall, by what you commented, I can clearly tell you didn't read what I had said... 😭🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Richard Santana The only thing that's "woke" is Ellie's attraction to women, and even then that was foreshadowed in TLOU which came out in 2013. Well before anything was being pushed in the media.
They take out the best small parts from the game.
Just got done with the third episode so far this is pretty much a PG version of the game. There is hardly any violence or tension pretty much no infected to deal with. Hopefully it starts to pick up next episode.
@lemon critics don’t matter, there’s a reason a lot of gamers didn’t like it. And there’s also a reason Naught Dog mislead people w/ the trailer. Plus, there’s no way Ellie could carry a TV show.
@Xander Crews every critic agrees that its a masterpiece. honestly only uneducated people say that the story is bad. you can 100% DISLIKE the story, but to say the story is BAD is objectively incorrect. its one of the best stories ever made and it wasnt afraid to take big leaps. they knew they would face lots of backlash and they knew it wouldnt be good for business. all they cared about was the story, which is an extremely rare gem that should be appreciated. whether or not you admit it, tlou2's story is WAY better written than the first game
The last of us devia ser um filmaço i não serie.. The last of us foi o melhor jogo que joguei no console ate hoje,e sempre sera conçerteza, nunca nenhum jogo me tocou tanto como o the last of us! ❤️
Boy last of us game will also give you goosebumps . When I seeing this trailer it is resembling all the sene which I played 3 years ago and it's still in my mind.
Played through the game a couple of times & love it - of course... Watched the 1st episode twice.... First from the gamers' perspective ( probably " over critical "). And then with a " clean mindset" re the story.. On the 2nd watch ... Thoroughly entertained. A few omissions that I thought would've helped ( The hunt for Robert through the docks.) + a few additions that really helped ( Are you my Mum ?---Do I look like your Mum..?) Nico Parker ...To coin a British expression " Hat's off !!! " Beautiful performance.. Always completely confident on the castings - Alarm set for episode two...
Wow! If I had a nickel for every time Pedro Pascal took on a role where he first sees a child as nothing but cargo but then grows to love as a father, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice!
Prediction that Take on me will rise on the charts again, like the way they use that already stunning song is just on point. Also I need the trailer version on spotify on FULL LENGTH!
Ellie pretending to twitch like an infected is totally in-character for her 😂 I was skeptical at first how well they'd adapt this story to tv, but this trailer got me excited!
@Richard Wilkerson really though, she never jokes about joel dying in the second game and he meant a lot to her, dont you think she wouldnt joke about her bff and also girlfriend maybe turning into a zombie probably right in front of her?
@Richard Wilkerson Ellie is played by an upcoming British actress Bella Ramsey, the daughter of a lady I've known for many years.. She comes from an adventurous but very grounded family, I think she on her way to a successful career 😁👍
I don't have high hopes considering who they cast. They should have made it another show and not the Last of Us; Won't be able to satisfy most. Shame, could have been great buit it's going to be a dumpster dive.
I came here after watching the 1st Episode. Never heard of the last of us game. I don't play games 😂😂. Saw it trending on Twitter watched 1st episode it was very very good. Really want to see what happens next. There might be some great emotional moments I sense in next episodes. Can't wait.

Show flopped it's so sad
Why did you change the music?
@toomanywokepeople where did you get this info
so sad this show flopped, sad it's cancelled too.
@RO BOT yeah bit it doesnt have boring segments like the walking dead so far
Troy Baker (Joel in the game)as one of David’s men and Ashley Johnson (Ellie in the game) as Ellie’s mom, so glad they’re getting a time to shine in the show too!

Those are captain grime and Tulip Olsen.

@heisnotlongbutthin Bodner Not really just them. The Resident Evil movie last year was unbearable🤮🤮.

This show is amazing. I hope it gets all the support it gets so we get more projects on a similar scale. Love it
As Gamers we already know the story… we just want to feel it. I hope the actors make us feel the chemistry better Joel and Ellie. I am so excited.
@Armand Rudy DIAMVINZA it's a show and they nailed the first episode so far
@wholethedogsout they also brought you TLOU.
@Mosaab why do you want a 13 yr old girl to be attractive? ☠️ that's really sus. Bella nailed the essence of Ellie.
This is an extraordinary series, I was amazed when I saw the first episode launched and it always makes me curious about the next episode. HBO never disappoints its viewers!
Can't believe they pulled it off, one of the greatest games of all time I love how they used the same theme song, just classic.
The second episode was amazing. It left me on the edge of my seat. My god the introduction to the clickers was perfect so creepy, so nerve wrecking!!
@John🤣
You must have watched Prospect, such a great movie :)
@cuh Prospect
@FlappyTurtleSnatch WTF
@FlappyTurtleSnatch don’t you feel silly now?
Nico Parker did an excellent job of being instantly likeable, it is very difficult to make the audience care about your character with such little time on screen but her death was gut wrenching, the girl will go far in life. Pedro is as brilliant as he always is aswell, can't wait for more.
@S S of course this comment comes from the SS
Ignore the basement dwellers. They are the real race baiters, worse than the sjws they complain about
@S S what does the race swapping matter exactly? How did it affect the narrative?
@120mm Smoothbore you not liking the narrative is not the same as the narrative being bad.
@Dezon how was the last of us 2 trash💀
I’m so happy with how well they executed this show. As all others I’ve only saw the first episode but I’m really impressed with this masterpiece game turned into such a masterpiece show. I was sadly disappointed with the uncharted movie. Nothing against mark wahlberg, but he was not a good choice for sully. What happened to Sully’s cigar? The actors and actresses in TLOU HBO series really nailed their characters so far. I was so happy to find out that they were making TLOU part 2. Phenomenal storyline for both. I’m so excited to see more and the anticipation for the upcoming episodes.
As someone that never played the game, I enjoyed the first 2 episodes very much. Good show so far.
Knowing the scenes from the game, I'm both extremely excited and horrendously nervous to see this. Not because I think they'll do it badly, but because it's gonna emotionally HURT SO BAD.
@Galx96 why don’t you make a series then 😂
@Yin_Nyang Yeah I'm starting to see where the mentally ill teenager stuff comes from, 16 year old "non-binary" with an opinion that makes no sense.
@120mm Smoothbore
She looks Down syndrome and like she collects bugs for a living which does not fit Ellie’s character.
@120mm Smoothbore
First of all I am a 16 year old non-binary.
Unlike another HBO Max show that is a spin off and focusing on less funny humor, treating the characters terribly, even taking the mascot off because it’s mostly for children…
You know what I’m talking about at the end…
This show so far while only one episode so far blew me away. Its soooooo good. Sticking to alot of exact scenes from the game. Camera views and all. Chefs kiss
Just finished episode 2..this show was the bomb!
When you desperately expect someone to make a masterpiece and it finally happens, irreplaceable feeling.
Edit: Episode 3 is not masterpiece.
@kinggzz Agree,that's really messed up
ep3 was no masterpiece, not by a long shot.
@Official4KTREY bro it's the Mandalorian and the Girldalorian. What cast did you want?
@Official4KTREY go cry
@Official4KTREY some people can never be pleased I guess
@The 10th Man I'll waste my time watching season 2 because I wont base my opinions on the internet and I'll be open minded and make my own opinion.
@Joemar Sentasas loved it
did you enjoy the first episode then?
They did such an amazing job with the series. Absolutely awesome.
THE LAST OF US É UM DOS MEUS JOGOS FAVORITOS ❤🇧🇷
E essa série támbem Vai ser uma das minhas favoritas ❤
the love joel has for ellie is so very human we can all recognize it
Just saw the first episode and it was amazing.
This is absolutely unreal. Can't wait for this show to come out. Ashley as Ellie's mom, Troy as one of David's men is perfect.
@Alfred Hitchcook then who should Troy be?
@RCL they already confirmed their doing a season 2 lol
your opinion
Troy as David’s man is perfect? That’s not what I’d call it.
@RaimzI don’t think they plan on doing a second season because of how badly TLOU 2 was taken.
I'm surprised how good it was. Hope they continue with the same high standard
Last of Us first episode was amazing, captured the vibe and feel of the games perfectly, Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal are the perfect choice for Joel and Ellie 👏👏👏👏
Obrigado por ser fiel ao jogo HBO. Nós fãs agradecemos de coração
watched 1st serie - very good actors play and everything looks really good, as game itself. good dynamic not boring. after house of a dragon its totally unexpectfully good quality
I hope this will make people realize what an experience and how generation defining the game was. I hope this game makes people respect videogames as art and recognize that some games have better stories than movies. This is one of them.
Thank you everyone at Naughty Dog .
@Ethan Stites thank you for the kind words :-)
@Ugandalf the Brown and yet it's still one of the most beloved video game stories/gameplay loops of the previous generations? One of the playstations best sellers on two generations of consoles.
So your point is?
@I Need More Flavour that not really a counter point, or at best it’s a flimsy one, like I could say, ”it’s great, hence why everyone rememberers it”. You may not remember it because the story didn’t resonate with you for whatever reasons but I remember every part of it large in part because a lot of game don’t make you sit with the choices of the character like The Last of Us 2 did.
@Vash Rein that’s fair. GoT let me down too. Hope you find some good new books!
I’ve already watched the first episode three times! Can’t wait for the rest ❤
After the first episode I am glad they are staying accurate to the source material. There was no reason to change it, it was already super good.
Hey all, I want to share a few experiences I've had this year.
@Fuzzy I’m not sure why you’re even in these comments for this trailer if you hate the game so much
@OneTwoMark I always felt Hugh Jackman would be perfect as Joel
@Dmitry V I'm no hater, but TLOU is good because it has a good story. The gameplay is only solid (as in its perfect for the game but not the best)
Just staying within the type of game (zombie/apocalypse), there are plenty of games with "better" gameplay like metro, fallout, state of decay, project zomboid, STALKER.
I first had my thoughts about this show but after watching the first episode I was overwhelmed! 1-0 for HBO.
All I have to say is thank you Netflix for not making a last of us adaptation on their platform we know how that would’ve ended and thank you hbo max for making a true adaptation to a amazing game and sticking with the music source material ❤so happy Netflix stayed away from this masterpiece
I’m so happy they turned this into a series! It’s a good story
I've seen episodes one and two, but haven't seen the trailer, and when I see it now, it's very emotional, plus the music is epic, adds to the emotional atmosphere
@Salty Bunghole Tears I really want to play the game, but don't have PS or PC damn
@Nick Network Gaming Bella Ramsey is 19.
@クロノ she nailed the essence of Ellie though. You could have an actress that's a spitting image of Ellie that doesn't deliver her essence at all.
I played both the last of us games and I must say the first episode was phenomenal. So hyped for this show
I’m loving it so far!! I can’t wait for the next episode and beyond. I’m excited to see the clickers!
2022 From HBO: house of dragons best series
It's 2023 : the last of us
It's gonna be the best series again
I immediately wrote this show off, as I’m tired of the same “end of civilization” type films, they’ve made the plot into countless movies. The only reason I gave it a shot was for Pedro Pascal.
It’s actually really good y’all. Like seriously. You will not be disappointed!
Ever played the games ? They're pure gold and the first episode was fairly accurate minus a few changes to keep the pace going.
@Self Knowledge nahh, there are games that have better stories
@Self Knowledge buddy play more games lol
By far the best storie in a game is The walking dead by telltale games. Absolutely a masterpiece and will never be a game like that
Just watched episode 1 and actually loved it really looking forward to episode 2 and yeah I have played the game 👌
I’m *really* hoping they do this show justice, the last of us was my favourite game to play with my family when I was younger.
Bravo HBO! This is how it should be done!
The first Episode 10/10!
If they get Joel and Ellie’s relationship right, the show will be a huge success
@Schwadzne Luan so tired of the gay love scenes and Im gay! I dont need to see it in shows I watch, not at all.
Two great actors. Can’t see them going wrong.
👍👍👍
@uuserThe writer was actually pressured by this woke feminist crazy woman. Forgot her name. She influenced the writing heavily. Anna Sarkasian I think? The game was gonna be very different before she joined.
I loved the game I hope the show is good
This says alot. If a script from a video game is good enough to make a television series, you know it must be good! Glad to see this!
"The last of us" is my first zombie game which I love. I hope this film doesn't disappoint me, time to watch
I'm so glad and lucky that I haven't played the game before the series released so I can experience the show without any clues.
This game is in my top 5 favorites of all time. So excited to watch the show!
Video games have such great stories, stories that deserve to be experienced even by those who don’t game
Yeah Tetris the movie
@ScoopDogg even short clips from older games have simile effects.
100 % facts.
@David B this whole video was about a video game adaptation so I misread what he said as "all video games should be adapted".
@phil maybe you’re being ironic here but just in case you’re not; you don’t like “controlling a character” that is literally the point in most games. If you don’t like that there aren’t many games left to choose from
One of the best games I played. Had me shook too in the house by myself lol.
For real seeing Sarah die AGAIN made me freaking tear up
I have found my new series! Love the plot, characters, visuals and music.
I really enjoyed the first episode. Even the voices match up..I know it will be hard to do but i might wait till end of season 1 to watch it again so i can binge watch it..
I think they cast Joel and Ellie great, no matter what people say. they may not look like the characters in the game but they are 2 great actors and I’m excited to see what they do
@Mochi Puzzles Yes I agree. She did a fantastic job.
@Adam Plentl that's the best HBO can find? clap clap i guess
@120mm Smoothbore take it easy, so we talking about ugly people with talent and black race now, umm ok. Maybe you should look in the mirror than message me your talents. :)
@Mochi Puzzles or they could pick the best person for the role like how they did.
@Uncle Ted appreciater Hats off to you dude.
@Catdaddy666 I'm sort of joking
This is gonna be great. Saw the first episode. Absolutely brilliant 👏
3 years ago, I watched a BBC documentary about this fungus in ants,
And then I said to my friends, " What if they made a zombie movie with this".
The first episode was WOW! If only we could binge the whole season now!
@DehydratedTree This aged like milk
The first episode was amazing.
This is a pretty good adaptation of the video game so far, compared to other videogame-based tv shows out now. Well done! 👍
Never played the game but damn this show is so damn good
HBO never disappoints viewers.
@Toni Harikadua HOD is not bad. Not great as GOT but still 👍
House of Dragon?
The mall lighting up, Riley and Ellie taking a picture, Sam hugging his brother, Bill meeting his partner, Ellie and Joel hugging!!!!!
This show is going to tear us apart!!!😭❤😄
BEYOND EXCITED!!!
@Alexander Osmanov what’s funny about it 😅 it’s a story they already know, so they know what to expect
lol, everyone is so emotional 🤣
I clapped when I saw the thing yaay
What about the song "Take on Me" in the trailer!! Remember when Ellie played it on the guitar.
For real! I’m already crying just watching the trailer
Watching the first episode and it's really really good praise to the film crew how much they try to follow the game steps
Take notes Resident Evil!
That's how you film a game!!!
I can’t wait to watch this. The game was the most emotionally involving one I have ever played. It was almost like an interactive movie and had me close to tears on more than one occasion. I am so happy to see that at last someone is making a game into a great television drama.
Loving this series already!
Wow. First episode was mind blowing, emotional. 10/10
This has the potential to be one of the most compelling shows ever. The video game took everyone by surprise with how good it was story-wise
@Yeet Cannon clearly they are not though
Ellie is going to be played by a black girl and Joel will be played by a native American lol
@j gipson lmao The Walking Dead wishes it was The Last of Us.
@Berserk 1 Pity that someone with a Berserk profile thinks that...
The "Take on Me" in the background gave me spiritual levels of whatever the feeling I just felt was
Just finished first episode, they stick to the story even better 👍👍 I really like it, for sure it will be a success.
This show is awesome!! Episode one was amazing!!
this is a certified playstation classic
When your talking playstation your talking the last of us
@ArthropodSpideywhy you so mad💀
@𝕷𝖆𝕸𝖆𝕽 Those where boring after 2 seasons
@120mm Smoothbore lmao I am not about to argue with a brick wall, by what you commented, I can clearly tell you didn't read what I had said... 😭🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Richard Santana The only thing that's "woke" is Ellie's attraction to women, and even then that was foreshadowed in TLOU which came out in 2013. Well before anything was being pushed in the media.
Now that is is here and I'm through 2 episodes I can say with confidence they have done an AMAZING job with this series. Thank you.
They take out the best small parts from the game.
Just got done with the third episode so far this is pretty much a PG version of the game. There is hardly any violence or tension pretty much no infected to deal with. Hopefully it starts to pick up next episode.
I've never seen the game so I have no expectations. Trailer looks promising so to me it's worth a shot.
Ive played both games so this is gonna be good
Seeing the two brothers that Joel and ellie meet broke my heart, I'm not ready for that again
I won't play the game. What is it about these two brothers? Can u explain in detail?
yeah that’ll be rough 😢
literally said "oh no" and had to pause. i am not ready for that again
The last of us devia ser um filmaço i não serie..
The last of us foi o melhor jogo que joguei no console ate hoje,e sempre sera conçerteza, nunca nenhum jogo me tocou tanto como o the last of us! ❤️
This series will be a masterpiece...
I am damn sure about it...
A few omissions that I thought would've helped ( The hunt for Robert through the docks.) + a few additions that really helped ( Are you my Mum ?---Do I look like your Mum..?)
Nico Parker ...To coin a British expression " Hat's off !!! " Beautiful performance..
Always completely confident on the castings -
Alarm set for episode two...
Wow! If I had a nickel for every time Pedro Pascal took on a role where he first sees a child as nothing but cargo but then grows to love as a father, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice!
@Ryan C I agree. I thought of Prospect before the Mandolorian .
If I had a nickel for every time his head was compressed into a bloody pulp, I'd have 5 cents
Actually 15 cents because Prospect is close enough to count
This is the Way.
Grogu is a blessing.
The trailer looks good .Just watched two episodes . They were decent . Man I got high hopes for this . As someone who has played the game .
Prediction that Take on me will rise on the charts again, like the way they use that already stunning song is just on point.
Also I need the trailer version on spotify on FULL LENGTH!
So exciting, I'll watch this with my DM. We love HBO shows. I enjoyed watching the game play, too scary for me to play though !
Finally we gamers and fans been heard! Thanks for this masterpiece! ❤
Ellie pretending to twitch like an infected is totally in-character for her 😂 I was skeptical at first how well they'd adapt this story to tv, but this trailer got me excited!
How do I twitch like that? I’m an actor in training
@Richard Wilkerson really though, she never jokes about joel dying in the second game and he meant a lot to her, dont you think she wouldnt joke about her bff and also girlfriend maybe turning into a zombie probably right in front of her?
@Jay Likes To Race 🎯✔️💯
I Love This Series so Much I Can't Wait for More and Reunited with Riley Ellie's Friend
Отлично! Первая серия очень понравилась, надеюсь следующие так же будут на высоте )
I came here after watching the 1st Episode.
Never heard of the last of us game.
I don't play games 😂😂.
Saw it trending on Twitter watched 1st episode it was very very good.
Really want to see what happens next.
There might be some great emotional moments I sense in next episodes.
Can't wait.
