I love Ed Sheeran so much but when my fiancé passed away 5 years ago I couldn’t listen to him without crying. And now with this album I can finally listen and it’s happier tears. Crazy how you can learn to grow with the artist that perfectly describes your feelings.

When I first heard just a portion of this song, at the initial listen, I thought it was just a routine break-up song, but after taking a closer look at the lyrics and looking up the backstory behind this (and discovering that this is actually about coping with death and grieving), it just hits completely different now. I lost my dad to suicide 16 years ago. I’m 23 now, this song is a very accurate and beautiful way of describing what it’s like to lose a loved one. The pain never fades, we just grow and deal with it differently

This has become my new favorite song. I watched the documentary on Disney+ and cried through most of it. Ed has an amazing heart on top of all his talent. It’s incredible. This song has not only touched but hugged my heart in a warm embrace. Everytime I hear it I get goosebumps and a hard to swallow lump in my throat. Been crying since Friday, Ed, have mercy, tissue paper is expensive over here

I just want to say thank you for this song. I'm suffering from compound grief. My sister died (quickly) from cancer in September, and it hit me hard. We were really close. Then my mom died in November, just before Thanksgiving, after having a hip replacement. I was with her when she passed. I had to take care of her final wishes and service. Then my father passed in his home in January, just before my birthday. I found him. I had to do everything from getting him cremated, planning his service, cleaning out his estate, etc. In that 5 month period of time, I also lost two friends (one was in his early 30's) and my aunt. I'm so depressed. I heard this song and immediately connected to it. It's absolutely perfect. So thank you for sharing this. It was even released at the perfect time. As a matter of fact, I even told my mental health counselor about the song. It's absolutely beautiful.
