The software and engineering talent of Tesla is amazing. Also, most people are just beginning to understand all the features they have. Like the HEPA Filter in the Model S, X and Y which is the most sophisticated air filter in any vehicle. Pretty useful with wildfires in California and all the other air pollution in cities. And I am sure they will crack full self driving.
They 100% will crack full self driving.. they've pretty much almost got it.

Congrats on the purchase and great review nice to see someone go into dept with such detail and fun. Think the new tesla is amazing in almost every way, however for myself even the cheapest model is just too expensive I'm 21 and living in the UK for myself the cheapest tesla I have found is around 35k with close to 100k miles then my insurance is almost 3k a year just isn't possible but hey one day it might change.
Where do you work? If you really push yourself or possibly get 2 jobs you can get one

Thanks for a terrific in-depth review of the Tesla Model S Plaid. I liked how you mentioned that Tesla is as much a software company as a car company with regular updates derived from customer feedback. You also mentioned the extra little details, such as the wing mirror covers, that you had made to personalise the car to your wishes, which I think is very cool.
Talking of feedback and details, you obviously must spend a great deal of time filming and editing in order to create such a well-produced and high quality video, but could you please just take an extra few minutes to make sure that your closed captions are spelled correctly. As an English language teacher and proofreader, I was really disappointed to see "Quater mile" and "ect". I'm sure you would be similarly disappointed if your new car's door alignment was slightly off, but that too is an issue that is easily fixable.

Friend just picked up the Model S long range version today! It’s magnificent!
Insane mode at 3.1 seconds. Maybe 2.9 with rollout? Going to dragy it later.
Yoke seems like easy transition just after first couple of drives. Major upgrades on interior and minor exterior changes with nice refinements.
I have had an S for 7 years - P85DL - still amazing today!

As beautiful as this car is that steering wheel kills it for me and it’s so sensitive to the touch. I would love to have this car with a traditional steering wheel and no touch sensitive buttons but actual buttons
Think you learn to get used to it quickly. People were same about phones when smartphones came out, i will miss the physical buttons. Look now over 10 years later, even my grandmother has one and using it without issue. Think it's a human things, we refuse to adjust to new things but eventually we make the step and realize it not that bad after all.

It is insane how far this stuff has come. Makes me excited that hopefully in 7 years when I get a new car I will be able to get possibly a used Tesla and experience the features myself.
@Matthew Fernandez Tesla's are not facing the chip shortage like other manufacturers are. Tesla's prices are demand based. While everyone else has been limited in production due to the chip shortage, Tesla is making record numbers of cars. The sidestepped the chip shortage by buying up what other different kinds of chips were on the market and reprogrammed their software themselves to meet their needs. Demand needs to drop before we will see any significant price drops
@Trafalgar Law Thats the case for literally every car right now, thats not special to tesla. Car market is hyper inflated due to chip shortages, so used 2018-20 cars are costing more now across the board. Tesla's will depreciate like all cars will once market stabilizes.
Better save up more for a brand new car instead of used ones
They will eventually depreciate, but it's going to take longer than you think. 2-4 year old Tesla's are currently selling for more than when they were purchased new.
The plaid was also my first EV, enjoy it, and yes, it never gets old!
My friend got one about 3 months ago to go along his ludicrous Model X and the car is insanely fast!!!! I felt like I was at an amusement park roller coaster ride.
You know how Dom looks at his dads charger and says “it scares the shit out of me”. That’s me and Tesla. I don’t think I could drive one because I know already I drive too hard for the street. I don’t think having 5x more power is going to bode well.

@Shiftheads Your originak claim was that no 1000cc bike would beat a plaid. But it has been proven that it can be beaten. Then you switch to the argument of beinh able to have 5 people seated and a screen, etc... then you switch to durability. All you are doing is deviating and deflecting lol

@Shiftheads Doesnt matter. We are talking about buying a car for speed not for durability. You are just adding these other "how much will it last" scenarios because you can clearly find examples of cars being able to reach the level of a plaid in terms of speed.
@YoungWolf 567 not really any 1000hp engines that are gonna last run after run and not break. Not to mention there is no maintenance on the tesla besides wiper fluid and tires. If what you're saying were true then we would have tons of 9 second daily drivers out there. The closest thing is maybe a modified gtr? But now you are spending more than a plaid. Sure I could make 1000hp awd civic for maybe 25k? That thing ain't gonna last all season though
I remember when you were on the order page getting the plaid + 520 mile range. You were in sooo much doubt at that time. I’m happy that this gave you a good experience

@AwesomeBlackDude ok, you didn’t answer my question, but anyways. I think the features Lew was mentioning in the video are the ease of driving, especially with the “autopilot” engaged, the comfort level and ability so see so much of the dash with the yoke steering wheel. Ability to control all seats heating from an app. The pure joy of driving a performance electric vehicle and just how fun it is to put the foot down. Eventually when autonomous driving is solved as well, you’ll be able to watch Netflix or catch up on work, sitting in your own vehicle.

The more and more I drive my model 3, and the more I use autonomous features. The more I want a yoke. It’s a polarizing topic, but with auto pilot, and variable ratio steering depending on your speed. I’m down for the yokes ergonomic benefits.

Just got my Model 3 (first Tesla and electric car) in the same color combo and I love it!! I also have an S 63 so getting another fast car wasn’t necessary but the Model 3 is no slouch and I have been having a blast with it. Great video!

Reminder. This is a person that has owned a Taycan for a while now and is still this impressed by the Plaid, that says a lot about this car because the Taycan is also an impressive machine.
@BTICronox Car&Drivers 75mph test for the Model S Plaid is 280mi vs. as you quote Turbo S was 206mi. That's why I called it a significant difference.
Anyway no point to argue this to deah, I actually like the Taycan. It's fair to say some things the Taycan does better and others the Model S.
Agreed on the Lucid, efficiency at high speeds seems very impressive but I want to see more tests.

@Jay1171 What do you mean you can't upgrade one without the other? Brakes are something relatively easy to change, you can't fix the Taycan's overheating problem as it is baked into the car. It's a lot more than just straight line speed: Model S beats Taycan in tech, range, efficiency, ease of use (charging network).

@Morgan Oregon I mean yeah but it depends a lot of the way that it's going to be used. for example I work at home so I don't really need to own a car. 4 hrs isn't that bad if I let it charging meanwhile I'm sleeping and there's a couple fast chargers around as well. But I really want an E46 M3 or an Ae86, But also having a tesla is like the highest quality that you can have right now.

I am not getting what in your opinion "unskilled drivers". I will 100% agree with you if you meant people who have never gone to track. Yeah normal people will be extremely impressed whereas an experienced driver will be unimpressed and terrified of corner handling. Also can you share a link about that Koenigsegg sedan, I don't know about it.

@Ken Miller You are comparing a fricking lamborghini SVJ with a family sedan. Please don't compare lamborghinis with Sedans, they are made to perform, they are a symbol of sportiness and you know...... Whereas Teslas are just like normal family friendly cars (with the only exception being electric) and they just happen to be snappier and quicker than almost every other car in its range and above. But they have their problems like you said, they are HEAVY and they get almost out of hand in the corners at Plaid speeds, Also look at the Audi RS Etron, that is also a fast electric car and the happen to be a lot more great at corners at high speeds. So I think i made my point, Teslas are good as they are bad, the only unique thing with Teslas are that they GET A HELLA LOT OF SPOTLIGHT and in my opinion that's why the have dangerous fanboys and get a lot of hate and let me say one more thing, If Elon Musk didn't have a twitter account tesla would be just like any other company. They would be innovating but they woudn't get the attention they currently have.

Nice review. Had multiple S, X, 3 models here. Don't put too much trust in autopilot or you'll end up dead, it's not as "smart" as you think. Our F150 does better holding the road/lane.
