Lol, just randomly searched “lightsaber duels” and found this video again. Now I hear another one is coming?! Great to hear. Great work on this vid, btw!
just randomly rewatched VFX Artists React to Bad & Great CGi 6 (where they recommend this channel) and you've just released the teaser ^^. awesome!
OMGGGG!!!!!👀👀 YASSSS!🔥🔥✨
@Shadoko Thank you!
@frostnetz Those guys are the best.
I love how Obi Wan actually looks like he's fighting for his life and Vader is fighting for revenge.
Shit for reals. The minute the did the force push he knew he couldn’t do anything anymore. Shit had me crying!
*for Luke’s life
Yeah, this fits in with the lore better too. At this point in the timeline, Darth Vader had been in so many lightsaber duels during the clone wars and purge that in the EU, it was generally accepted that he had become the greatest lightsaber duelist to ever live. The only reason Luke was able to survive his duels with him was that Vader was never interested in killing him.
Then there was Ahsoka who said she wouldn't leave him, and Ezra snatched her from another plane of reality. Vader forefeits revenge outta confusion lol
"You can't win Darth..." And indeed Vader can't win this fight...Vader standing in front of the closed blast doors "I've been such a dumbass".
This is absolutely beautiful. The aggressiveness from Vader. The stall from Obi. Truly Disney needs to be taking notes, I think even George would be impressed.
literally this scene is 1000 times better than that embarrassing fight in the obi wan series
@Brian Alejandro Bro i literally just watched the kenobi fight 2 days ago and actually thought it was Ai generated! It just looked so off, so fanfiction esque that i was sure that it was made by a fan with an Ai. I just recently learned its real. Cant believe the over the top force powers, and why would vader and obi meet again? THIS fight is where they met again. Its awful.
@CODA I just got back from watching it, had to see this one again for a good example of a Vader/Obi-wan fight.
@CODA wym mane the fights in obi wan were great to me honestly, I mean they made the Inquisitor look so different from he did in rebels 😹 that’s ab it for me, other then it shows how much Vader was dominating the fear into obi wan and everyone til obi wan eventually had to conquer that fear in the end which was beautifully Executed, given Vader can’t do back flips anymore like he did on Mustfar it was great 😹, but I would love to see if they add this fight scene into a new hope this was greatly amazing as well and would prefer it then the fight we were given in a new hope of there long awaited meeting again
George wouldn't even understand what he's looking at.
Better than every fight in the sequel trilogy by a land slide. Well done man, haven't felt this engaged in a lightsaber duel since the end of Revenge of the Sith.
Duel of the fates is pretty high.
@Constantine V no one can ignore the fact that duel of the fates is one of if not the best star wars duel of all time
@mahu most impactful? Easily. Best? It's top 3 forsure but not best
@Boba Skoba what do you think is the best
I love how seamless you interwoven the fight in between actual scenes from the original, it makes it flow way better and honestly improved it. Absolutely amazing, this is honestly both eye opening and jaw dropping
nice court of the crimson king profile picture
I cannot tell you how many times I've watched this. I cannot tell you how much I absolutely love this!! Every time Disney produces another terrible movie or show, this is the video I remember...reminding me that there are people out there who still love Star Wars and can create amazing content. Thank you so much...
Love how Vader was burning, then extinguish as he was taking the lead at 2:23. Really a "I'm no longer the man I once was." moment. It is Anakin who burns, and Vader, as he is, does not.
I absolutely love how aggressive and full of emotion this fight is, thank you for bringing this into existence.
Star Wars iv new hope Darth Vader and the Obi-Wan Kenobi long fight with the lightsaber should be in the DVD or the bluray.
Definitely
@Arthur Hillyeah definitely this edit should be cut into a new hope. It would be amazing to see
This is canon for me. And I love how it aligns with canon lore, showing how Vader was dominating the whole fight. So good.
I don’t know how you brought Alec Guinness and Carrie Fisher back to life for this, but the Dial of Destiny de-aging of Ford and Hammill looks fantastic. Glad they decided to return for this.
Impact plays an important role in any fight scene. Each hit, each movement, each force push is emphasized so perfectly here. Really makes the viewer feel the fight. Seriously, great job! 👏👏👏
Back after watching obi wan finale
It’s kind of like a play. It may be not real but the progression and skill of doing the impossible to make it be possible with the right use of effects and actual realism and stunts from the cast can indeed create the illusion of it being real. And this like you said will be remembered from what I just said and how far it goes will forever shine bright
4:36 This shot is so powerful! The slow rise with the red redlection, the music swelling and the echo of "I HATE YOU" - the last words Anakin said to Obi Wan
2:25 Is amazing as well. You can really see and feel Vaders hatred for the one who caused him eternal pain. Swinging and slashing with all his might.
2:06 I love how you included the lil' spin in the original and made it actually plausible in the fight. Amazing work, bravo.
I’m convinced this is how it actually looked and Lucas was simply too limited by technology to truly portray it.
Jayden Calderon yeah that’s probably how it was
I wonder if Lucas saw this and liked it?
Plus some of those sound bytes were 30 years away.
I like to think all the Star Wars movies are just imperfect portrayal of the real thing
Yes, but when they remade Star Wars, they should have had something like this
my only problems is that vaders helmet is shaped differently and Alec Guinness’s photoshopped face looks awkward at times…other than that THIS IS INCREDIBLE. I’m glad it looks as amazing as it is. This really feels like the battle would’ve been like. keep up the good work!
This version is fantastic: the actors, the framing, the direction, the choice of music...
I would love it if Lucas or Filoni would come across this and say : shit, there's something to do with this team...
For me it's a straight Oscar for the best revisited scene ;)
Ps : Hello from France & sorry for my english
I love how Vader hears Obi Wans call to Luke after he dies. Of course he could sense that.
Vader coming out of the fire with that one-handed upward slash gets me every time!
This might be the single-handedly (pun intended) greatest Star Wars edit ever created. I'd even go as far to say that this scene alone is better than what Disney Star Wars has offered as a whole.
I love how those stormtroopers just stand there and were all like:
*Man I want a lightsaber*
I’m dead 💀😂
Huh
We all are the stormtroopers.
you're acting like you wouldn't do this as well lmao
Right
I’m gonna consider this canon from now on. It’s so well-made!
Same definitely cannon in my book
I know this is 4 years old at this point in time but it's done really well all things considered and I liked it. It gives Vader's anger a lot more meaning and it definitely feels more like Ben can fight him off even with them both being so much older than their previous encounters but poor Obi-Wan literally always encountering Anakin/Darth Vader years and years after just living alone in a desert he can't put his lightsaber away even if he wants to 🥺
We need a petition for the team who did this, we need to run this masterpiece in movie
At the end when the imperial March plays and we hear obi wan in the force scream you where the chosen one hits hard. It's simple but yet reminds us of what happened all those years ago on mustafar and symbolizes Anakins fall into Vader and i love that small yet very meaningful detail.
Dude, awesome job. Fantastic add in with the fights scenes and editing. I bet if Lucas could see this and go back in time.... he would use this one in the original film!
Imagine how people in 1977 would have reacted if *this* was how the fight went.
I know right
There would be no survivors.
I saw it in '77 and I didn't like this version. It doesn't show, in fact contradicts the idea that Obi intended on sacrificing himself and had no intention of actually killing Darth. You kids are so ignorant about the how the plot works within the movie. SMH
@Cuvtixo bros mad
@Cuvtixo Yea but it could make sense if Obi Wan had been stalling for luke then it would make sense for the fight to be longer. The new generation of star wars fans aren't against you. We understand the plot. Don't over think it
I think this is what George Lucas would have made the original dual like if the prequels came out first. I loved how this really showed how experienced and powerful Vader is. It reminded me of him in rouge one or the kenobi show. As good as a new hope was, the original scene didn’t really convey that.
My favorite part of Episode 4 has always been Vader tapping at the clothes after he kills Obi Wan, because it shows HE knows something doesn't add up. He's seen a decapitated body before, they don't just poof into smoke...Obi Wan did the one thing no Sith could ever do - He achieved immortality.
Ironic - the power that all Sith Strive for and it's exclusive to the light side of the force.
This has always been awesome. There is one glaring dialog flaw, though, which is when Vader tells Obi-Wan, "There is no escape." Before this fight begins, Vader tells a subordinate about Obi-Wan, "Escape is not his plan." That makes the "there is no escape line" out of place.
In the bigger picture, it's a very minor issue. I come back to watch this over and over again, as it's a great showing of how the battle should have transpired.
Came back, post Obi-wan, to tell you that I STILL absolutely love this video. Your team did such an amazing job on this reimagining and I think (especially compared to Obi-won) that this is such a great scene. I loved it when I first saw it, and after a quite a few dozen times watching it, I still love it. It's great on so many levels, so thank you so much for making this!
The part where Anakin hears the voices from the past..( "I hate you!" "You were my brother Anakin!") That got me... 😭
The fact that Vader catches on fire and doesn't care is so badass
Turning his ptsd into a weapon
He’s used to it, it’s an everyday occurrence to him
@SquareLizard924 he doesn't get lit on fire everyday lol
@SpongeBob SquarePants maybe it’s part of his morning routine
Vader was born in the flames.
I am shocked, it is the fight that Obi Wan deserved before passing to another life. Heart-stopping from start to finish.
Damn missed this 4 years ago! Glad i found it. Shows Vader at full power and the menace he is ❤
2:35 is always my favorite part, the viciousness of the fighting and the way the lightsabers contact- its not this digging, binding force which we usually see, but two forces pushing at one another, trying not to stick, like trying to opposing magnets together with the amount of force and anger behind the strikes. The way the lightsabers slide along each other really gives a better show of the weight behind the swings themselves, and how much more is going on with the body.
No matter how many times I see this I’m always amazed
Wow! This would definitely blow everyone's minds back in 1977. I want more!
I can’t even fathom what these guys could accomplish with a Disney budget and all of their creative means.
Unfortunately we will never see it because Disney doesn't give a shit about us and still bring over a billion for every star wars movie
The Jedi Master you got my support 100%
I agree bro I enjoyed this more than episode 8 !😅😂
@Richard Pilhofer
E7 1.9 b
E8 1.3 b
E9 1b+ (even beaten by movies like Captain Marvel)
Solo was even the first ever movie with a loss.
They slowly killing it that way.
As Trekkie I could say: so what?! But Star Trek has also fallen in the hands of Abrams and Co.
Better special effects, i went into a seizure from all the video game graphics, Thumbs Down.
I actually think this is incredibly well done! Good job!
The fighting choreography is really impressive!
This is AMAZING! It would fit perfectly in the OG trilogy
Love how Obi Wan fights in this as well he pulls out some really cool stylish moves.
That scene where Vader punches Ben, throws him against the wall and tries to take his head off is really really well done. Chill bumps
This actually feels like someone wanting revenge after getting thrown into lava
Ranxrox when your friend punches you into lava in Minecraft: I HATE YOU!
There's two things Anakin used to hate: Sand and *high grounds*
Yeah the ferocity in his fighting style is just pure hatred and desire for revenge pouring out
literally got chills with sound clip from revenge of the sith. “I HATE YOU” and you could tell he really did
@MTUK I agree too, but I wonder if it was too intense, because at 3:28 Vader pushes OLD obiwan to a metal wall and SURVIVED. Is that even possible in the starwars universe?
I love the echoing grunt Obi-Wan makes when his robe gets struck down. Sounds like he felt the slash of Vader's blade in the process of becoming one with the Force.
Whenever youre watching a new hope, always have Clip-Share open ready to quickly switch to this video when the scene comes up.
This video shows you how beautiful star wars can actually be.
I don't know why fans have to hope that something this epic and powerful happens in a star wars movie, think the closest thing was the end of rogue one and its no where near as good as this. They're hiring the wrong people.
Better choreography than every single Disney lightsaber battle
Man that is so impressive. I wish I could mod movies the way I do games. Great job!
This is awesome the only issue is Vader is far too short since he was like 6 feet 8 inches. But otherwise this is one of the best add on parts I have ever seen. Cheers!!
I love Vader's style in this. It's a perfect blend of the agile dexterity Anakin fought with and the brutal powerhouse that Vader is.
I especially liked the proper sword strike he used to kill Obi-Wan instead of the big clumsy baseball swing from the movie.
@Alexandria Hunter There was an original scene that was similar to this. You can find it in deleted scenes.
Large amount of form 5 in Vader, very open movements with an aggressive style focused on offense. I think that’s how he would’ve fought when meeting Obi Wan.
4:43
It is always those moments.
That changes a individual to their true potential; moments where people create their own nightmares out of those they pretended to love.
They loved what they thought you would be; what they hoped you would be.
Not realizing what it does to you.
The guilt of your fall rest on your shoulders for entertaining others delusions.
The pain, the agony, the betrayal.
They realize your realization.
That they are the source of your torturous torment.
Then they see you as a monster of their own guilt and failure.
Poetic how they create their own monster, from their own misguided actions an feelings.
For where Love an hope is sowed.
So is hate and despair.
Yes, Vader is so good here
If they ever remake this movie this scene has to be in it!!
Additionally, this falls well in line with Obi-wan being a master of defense & Vader (being slower with his new prosthetics) managing to make every single swing of his light-saber a potential killing blow! The ultimate showdown of offense versus defense!
This is absolutely brilliant! Well done!
So so so well made. Amazing. Much more like what would have really happened. Massive congrats.
This kind of lightsaber choreography needs to brought back into any new movies or shows containing lightsaber duels, shows enormous emotion and holds so much gravity during the fight. Well done!
When the dialogue of Anakin and obi wan played “I hate you!” “You were my brother Anakin, I loved you.” It hit so deep, like wow.
It gave me the chills.
actually makes me cry every time I hear that part.
And then at the end when you hear "you were the chosen one" it nearly brought tears to my eyes no shit.. so well done
Gauge Jacobs and to think that that was the last thing Anakin heard before obi wan left him to die
Rick Davis no u are wrong I know opinions are opinions but no wrong just wrong
That was INCREDIBLE.Walt Disney SHOULD re-release that movie again on the movie theatre with this particular scene, just like this was done.
If there EVER was a fight between good and evil, you are looking at it......
When I watched the original production, it was at a time...long ago, that the intensity of this portrayal, would have stopped hearts. But wow, that was amazing.
Looking this fight right after watch the 6th episode of Obi-Wan series is so impressive.
I really hope that serie have a 2nd season to see how Obi-Wan learn from Qui-Gon the final ability in this video of being one with the force.
The whole Star Wars saga is just an Artwork.
This is the Star Wars we deserve! So good!!!
This was fantastic - great job!
This actually feels like a rematch between Kenobi and Anakin
right?i bet george lucas would love this if he saw the fan reimaging
It honestly is
Honestly this fight is my new canon.
It literally is dude
A weaker anakin and obi wan
This is amazing one of the best fights of the entire series perfection
Whoever did this is a utter legend!
Watching the obi-wan show final fight and then watching this adds additional context. Last time they fought (at least in the first season of Kenobi) , Vader lost and he was very very angry about that. This time, you can feel that anger and hatred behind every swing.
Obi Wan seeing Leia and Luke together and then smiled... Looking back, I did not know the gravity of the smile - now I feel it's full weight. Good job on making this one of my most watched Clip-Share video!
Well said. I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. It all makes perfect sense. Obi Wan had achieved his goal and knew it.
Except that when George Lucas made Ep.4 he hadn't written that part of the story, so the smile is for Luke alone
@Defective Industries this is so true! That gives gravity to the genius that is George Lucas as he really made this smile really a huge deal!
Seeing this again after watching the Obi-wan show just feels so complete now. I remember watching this three years ago and was blown away by how perfectly executed this was.
You can feel Vader’s rage and Obi-wan’s desperate struggle to stall for time.
This whole fight feels like Vader is fighting to kill, using all his anger and hate, and all Obi-Wan can do is defend himself. Beautifully done!
You can feel the power of the dark side in this video
We can see in this edit that Vader is fighting to kill and Obiwan is fighting to buy time for Luke and co. Obiwan knows he is outclassed but continues to defend defend defend, until he sees that Luke is ready to escape. That vibe couldn't be seen before - it just looked like two girls play-fighting.
Which is essentially what happened in their fight on Mustafar, just there wasn't quite the power gap between Obi and Anakin as there was there, and Obi didn't get so lucky lol
That's Obi-Wan's fighting style, soresu. Very effective against Sith, they get so deep in their rage and emotion, that they're more focused on destroying the opponent than defending themselves, and that's when he attacks. That's how he could've beaten Vader here.
Obi-Wan actually uses Soresu form, that's why he looks like that
I love this... I wish all of this was in the orginal movie Canon or Not or Timeline events regarding the prequals. This is just brilliant.
Amazing !!!! What a duel !!! This is the kind of fight we would want to see in the real movies.
This is way too accurate, I just can cry watching this, for me its full canon. « i haaate you » … too much goosebumps
Fantastic work here! Flows so nicely!! Job well done!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
this was insane, well done
If fans back in the 70s saw this, their faces would’ve melted off
your profile pic made me think my screen was scratched
@Luca Nicolas Stefan and i said wtf this fcking hair its inside of screen or what XD
@Luca Nicolas Stefan imagine using light mode smh
@Big PP I do use light mode during the day
Ngl have a feeling they are dead:(
Love when he pulls back his Saber and readjusts it in his hands he cuts the controls for the blast door. @03:38
Such precision, awareness and efficiency.
I expected this would be way worse. But it's actually very good. This deserves to be in an actual movie. My respect.
I've watched this multiple times and still get teary-eyed by it.
Great way to update this battle! Thanks for recreating. I always felt like the original version was a bit flat when compared to the more recent fight scenes. Well done!
Even after Kenobi. This still captures the characters and story 100 times more accurately.
Have you ever wondered why Ben smiles just before he dies when he looks at Luke. It's because he knows he has accomplished his final mission. Luke survived his childhood and embraced the Jedi cause, did not reject what he was unknowingly protected for. Furthermore, by allowing himself to be sacrificed, Ben knows that Luke will want to avenge him and will have a particularly strong motive to confront Vader from now on. Finally, he knows that even in death he will be able to continue to help Luke with the power that Qui-Gon was meant to teach him. At this point, despite appearances, the victory is complete for Ben.
He really meant it when he said : "I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine"
Now Anakin’s failure is complete.
I do wish Lucasfilms would put this into ANH, for real! They’ve already Special Editioned the Original Trilogy to death. Why not add this to give their final duel the intensity it lacked in ‘77.
I figured it was because he saw Luke & Leia finally reunited.
Totally agree! but it just crossed my mind the thought that revenge is not the jedi way, nor atachement.
@stereo92 Not revenge, But motivation to stay on the right side of the force!
Wow this was stunning. So much better than the original movie and even a bit better than fights in the prequels!
As someone who saw SW in the theater in 1977, I gotta' say -- this is excellent. Bravo!
this is actually amazing it would have been great if this was the fight scene in the movie 😮
love the for-shadowing of the final blow when Vaders light sabre cuts across obi in the distance at 1:31
This was epic!! Oh my god, the violence of the fight, both of those martial artists are so talented
A little fun fact about Vader’s suit, the shoulder area is so heavy that it is near physically impossible for Vader to lift his hand above his shoulders. Notice how for most of the fight he does swings from the side and when he strikes down he brings his whole body down too.
It’s all great attention to detail
Yeah the whole heavy over the shoulder area is because of his cape, which is said to be made out of armorweave
Indeed he's hit there, a glancing blow, and it hurts but the armor resists.
The only tiny tiny flaw in a perfect scene is that Darth Vader here appears slitghly less tall than the original.
He's old af too, gotta watch his blood pressure
@APodbayDoor Vader is old? Dude is 44 years old at this point.
I was gonna say something about that, cheers for the guys doing that
Wow, this is intense! What the scene in 1977 should've been, I was alive to see that in the theater-no comparison!
There wasn't tech or budget to make it like that yet
This is BRILLIANT AND THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN! 👏
For a fanmade-Project... this is mindblowingly good. I wish that would be real (with million-dollar budged CGI ofc). Would upgrade the whole movie. Amazing work. Amazing skills. Amazing writing
Wow… this was actually incredible. Bravo!
God I love how heavy Vader’s saber swings are. Very reminiscent of Anakins style when he was angry. Bravo
Actually, Anakin was faster and had more finesse. Vader's style is heavier and more direct because the suit has mobility issues, but amplifies his strength.
T Prime Very true. The heaviness and anger in his swings just reminded me a lot of Anakins duel with Dooku on Geonosis and eventually obi wan on Mustafar.
T Prime acktuashlyy... when anakin is angry in both movies and animated series his swings become heavy, ruthless aggressive swings as he loses his finesse due to losing control of his emotions.
@E Reynolds actually, actually is spelled "actually"- not "acktuashlyy". You clearly were very angry when you wrote that, you lost all your control amd finesse.
@Pugilist Specialist Actually, it was a play on the meme of how the nerd will always interupt with "actually" like the one I replied to did. Sorry you ddint get the joke hombre
That was frkn awesome. Great job on this remastering and additions to the 1st light saber fight in movie history. It was great you made it much better.
I'm always getting mad goosebumps when their RotS lines come in
This has to be some of my favorite Star Wars content on Clip-Share. Seen it upwards of 15 times by now, probably.
The only other thing that compares to it is that awesome Anakin/Obi-Wan duel re-enactment in front of the orchestra.
this is simply amazing; you took a piece of Episode IV and added so much polish to it; i commend you!
I'd love to see a reimagined full movie of this. Great stuff!
Edit: I wish I could add this seamlessly to a New Hope as the Definitive Edition. Disney needs to hire this person.
Nah. Star Wars "fans" would demand the original be restored along with death threats toward everyone involved.
I like the detail of Vader becoming more aggressive in combat when he catches on fire. He turned his PTSD into a weapon.
Holy I didn’t even think of that dude
Man this version is wild 😳😳but I like it 😁😁
@Mr Martin This is every version of Vader. Vader has never been afraid of fire. If you refer to the scene from Kenobi where he flinches, that was just bad writing on their part.
@Darth Nutsack Everything in Kenobi was bad writing on their part.
This didn't even cross Deborah Chow's mind.
this is exactly what we all pictured in our heads when we watched a new hope the first time. excellent job....
This should be added to films. Great work!
If they ever do a remake, would love to see something like this, well done
