Gregg still making Gregg decisions but also making ones that reveal he might be willing to make changes in formation and playing style. Such as Roling out a 4231 with Zim and Ream starting between Jedi and dest and musah alon side Adams in a double pivot. Those 4 centrally would be able to confidently pass out of the back and the dual 6 allows Adams much much more feeedom and highlights his strengths.

The fact that Gregg changed the roster around so much shows how much he still hasn't figured out. I'm happy Ream and Haji made it. These are players that should've been getting called up. Taking Morris, Moore, and Roldan are inexcusable.
@Favreian Vengeance well that's crazy since this is Ream's first World Cup. You're thinking of Matt Beasler. Ream wasn't on the '14 squad dude. Ream is the Captain of an EPL squad and brings leadership that we need.

Miss the old USMNT with Dempsey/Donovan and co. Honestly most of our guys didn’t have the European credentials of many of our current players but they had way more passion and fire. We’d go into games against the best of the best feeling like we actually had a chance. This current US Mens National Team doesn’t give us any confidence whatsoever.

Young teams don't show well in World Cups. The pace and intensity are too high. Semi-final and beyond teams average between 27 and 28 years of age, with very low deviation from that average age. It's too fast and physical with no recovery time for U-20s to do more than sub duty. Are you a new fan watching your first cycle and WC tourney?

@Peter Parker way before my time and honestly I’m glad he ditched the beard but he’s a big reason why Americans stopped seeing soccer as a sport for girls and he paved the way for Americans in major European leagues. Don’t understand why so many American fans don’t like the guy.

Honestly I would take Arriola over Morris
Its good but Ferreira, Morris, Zimmerman, Long, Roldan and Acosta all suck too. No European interest for any of these players. Maybe Ferreira when he gets better, but as of now they don't belong in the World Cup squad.

Fascinating! There is more nuance in the evaluation of soccer players than players in any other sport. How you put together a squad, what strategy you use, and how that plays out on the field--and all the tactical adjustments that are made in real-time during a match. Is there any other sport that has as many moving parts in play at the same time? I think not.

I love his analysis and he’s a great guy, but i cannot stand his play by play and color announcing. Americans are really the worst at it, so it’s not just him. usually listen to Spanish telecast because they actually call the play by play action and don’t over analyze and over explain every detail. he should be an analyst. I’m one of the few who wanted haji on the squad, he’s better on the ball than pepi and pefok and I think he’s a more well round player than them too. I would honestly start him over Sargent and Ferreira

There's a reason a lot of teams play 3 at the back. Lots of tactical flexibility. And Dest is such an awful RB, a back 4 is not gonna work

Bringing Sargent is probably the best decision on this roster. I've seen him play for Norwich, he has everything - pace, strength, work rate, and he's clinical.

Curious to see Wright but he was probably put over Pefok due to his relationship with the core guys like pulisic, mckennie and Adams. Pefok has a languages barrier with the group and probably why he did not make the roster.

MLS politics are involved .. had 2 say it lol.. I'm really glad up here in canada we didn't have this problem with our top league CPL (CANADIAN PREMIER LEAGUE) .. our best player in cpl (in my opinion) didn't even get a sniff at the national team. Which is a good thing . The others on the team are better
9 out of 26 on the roster are MLS guys and most of them won't see the field. It's not like we have a overabundance of fit and in form European based players Greg could just neatly slide into those spots.

Adding Ream now begs the question of why not sooner? I think Ream deserves to go but throwing him on at the last second really doesn't do anything for Ream or the team. GB should have brought him on in Sept.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ream starts. He starts week in week out with Antonee Robinson at Fulham. You look at Berhalter's comments last international break saying the squad didn't pick up everything the coaching staff was asking them to do. I think he's finally learning that World Cup cohesion is having player familiarity first and foremost. And Ream and Robinson playing together is key.

The last 4 years I've thought the young talent we have would be good enough to get out of the group. I agree that with Zimm and Long, we'll loose. The problem is Berhalter forcing us to play in a glaringly weak defensive strategy that Long and Zimm make much worse. We are not a scoring juggernaut, so giving up a goal per game on defensive mistakes will keep us third or last.
Crazy that Aaron long, Jordan morris, and Roldan are there…. Dudes aren’t national team quality. And two of them were out for close to a year with ACL injury…
Morris over Pefok or Pepi is an absolute embarrassment and picks like that are what makes the USMNT the laughingstock of international soccer. I'm never gonna hear the end of it from my Scottish buddies.

Sargent is not good enough for this level. He's proven it multiple times. He's good in the championship but at international or world class level he's not good enough. It's crazy that Pepi wasn't taken.

@Sean Carlson I’ll gladly eat crow on that header, but anyone else would have probably been able to put that one away too. He just isn’t that good anymore. Before his injuries he was definitely better, but he mostly disappears when he’s on the pitch now. He just isn’t good enough.
P R A Y . . . . . . . A B S O L U T E L Y P R A Y . . . . . . . that Berhalter doesn't start Aaron Long and Walker Zimmerman together as center backs. But he probably will because it's Berhalter. The correct pairing with who we have here is Ream and Zimmerman, and that's got it's issues as well, but is way better. Putting Aaron Long in is the same as installing a gaping barn door on the back of your house, that leads right into your living room, with no lock on it.
Josh Sargent was a great choice. He is going to make his place.
He's not a very prolific goal-scorer.
