Kudos to Ben Hodges for patiently discussing the same subjects over and over again. His tireless efforts in the information space have contributed greatly to Ukraine's efforts to drive out the invaders. We should all try to do our part as well. Most importantly, we can contact our government representatives to *increase* military aid to Ukraine. We can also post our support on all social media outlets. Another thing we can do is contribute our own time and money to organizations that are supplying supplies to Ukrainians.
    Thanks again to General Hodges!

    • Guinness
      Guinness 4 months ago +2

@Paul Bedichek it’s quite simple really. There’s two things the US doesn’t want from this war: a quick victory and an end. The longer the war goes on, the more it weakens and destabilises Russia and Putin, making it ripe for regime change. This was detailed in the Rand corporations strategy document to the pentagon in 2017. The purpose of arming Ukraine is give them enough ordinance to make them competitive and a threat to Russia and keep them in the fight, without being enough to be decisive. The US is perfectly willing to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian if necessary. They have secured European gas and oil markets, are making huge profits from supplying Ukraine and NATO militaries with arms and oil, and getting to test their latest tech against a near peer competitor in battlefield conditions, including their latest AI gear, without any loss of life to their own military personnel and zero strategic risk should Ukraine lose. The profits have replaced those lost with the withdrawal from Afghanistan and its worth noting special forces are getting lots of opportunity to perform behind enemy lines attacks deep into Russia, embedded in and leading Ukrainian units.

16:40 Talking about support for the war in Congress"...strong bipartisan support. ... there are three or four loudmouths on both extremes..." That perfectly describes just about every issue in the U.S. today. General Hodges is one of the most articulate, well informed, and reasonable leaders I've heard in a long time. I hope he continues to lead in our country in some capacity for a long time.

There is growing impatience with providing the bankroll for this war. This isn't reflected in Congress yet, but the population is dissatisfied. Look at Trump and RFK Jr poll numbers, two candidate for ceasing hostilities in Ukraine.

These high ranking military people have a vast amount of knowledge to give on a realistic and strategic level, they make it easy for us non-military people can understand. Congratulations must go to Times Radio for arranging this interview.

Even my own country of Australia which has not had a recession since 1992, is headed that way. No country is an island but part of a global community whether one likes it or not, so if the United States is suffering, well guess what, every other country is too. What Hodges was referring to was Biden's contribution to Ukraine. He could had ignored the calls for help but he didn't. Now that is what I call doing a great job.

Yeah, he's a very good expert, but Lithuania had been warning the West against Russia for years. Unfortunately, the West lived and still lives in a sort of bubble (and I don't write this with any malice, my country is in NATO and I majored in English). But you should really pay more attention to what Poles and Lithuanians and the Czech president (a retired general) and other people like that say. We know Russia better than you do, or than Gen. Hodges does. It's incredibly frustrating when you say something for years, than Russia attacks and... people STILL don't listen to you and praise other people who have sligthly less experience than you do.

Ben Hodges is a level-headed patriot in the Eisenhower mold. No bragging. Good sense of humor. Self-effacing. Incisive, competent, and credible. Thank God we still have folks of his caliber.

Cogent, smart comment. Excellent piece. Have to admire Kate G for understanding that the best interviewers are there to allow the interviewee to express and expound their views in a way that is appropriate for the audience, rather than being a medium for the display of the interviewer's intellect. (Which is the current standard of interviewing on the British Media). I want to hear the guest's views, I want the information, I want questions posed, but I want to hear all of the answer!! Good job.

Your interviewer was well selected and briefed. She wrested informed, articulate, educated, experienced-based, analysis and information out of Gen. Hodges, whose competence extends beyond his vast military knowledge. Thanks to them both and to Times Radio for this valuable exchange.

I do appreciate Ben Hodges views very much, and he is my first go-to General when it comes to analysis of this war. However, his assesment of Biden is... Wishful at least... He barely knows his way in to the white house. Let alone finding the door out.

Great interview and high respect for General Hodges, I feel if I were a soldier I would have been honored to serve under him for his decency and fairness. On the point of war crimes, I strongly believe the Russians need to be held accountable. The US, also needs to join the ICC and implement serious reforms when it comes to its soldiers conduct in wars as well as those on top. We need to start with trying Mr Kissinger's war crimes during Vietnam and stop covering up US soldiers misconducts with whitewash and pardons. This should also extend to our friends like Israel for its crimes, and if not, the world will never respect the US asking accountability from its adversaries.
