Kudos to Ben Hodges for patiently discussing the same subjects over and over again. His tireless efforts in the information space have contributed greatly to Ukraine's efforts to drive out the invaders. We should all try to do our part as well. Most importantly, we can contact our government representatives to *increase* military aid to Ukraine. We can also post our support on all social media outlets. Another thing we can do is contribute our own time and money to organizations that are supplying supplies to Ukrainians.
Thanks again to General Hodges!
Nae bother Ya Beggar
eastern ukraine is russian since centuries.
This is one of the best interviews I've seen and listened to in a while. The Lt. General is very well spoken and explains everything so clear. And at the other hand complementing the interviewer for her good questions is great to see.
Thank you Gen. Hodges.
I wish there was more of a conversation through by someone who understands the conflict not just reading questions
This was an excellent interview! Absolutely packed with timely information regarding this war.
Best analysis I’ve heard on the conflict so far. The General put his opinions in terms most people can understand.
Opinions are like a**holes...everyone has one. Clint Eastwood.
@Wot DaFok Right turn Clyde! 🙃
One of the best interviews I have ever seen with Ben Hodges. Well done Times Radio. Ben Hodges message is crystal clear and any level headed person will begin to make sense of this brutal war.
He's said the same thing for a year, over and over. Why the wait to supply F-16's? Why no ATACMS? Pathetic the way we let Russia get away with this.
@Paul Bedichek Slava Russia
@Paul Bedichek it’s quite simple really. There’s two things the US doesn’t want from this war: a quick victory and an end. The longer the war goes on, the more it weakens and destabilises Russia and Putin, making it ripe for regime change. This was detailed in the Rand corporations strategy document to the pentagon in 2017. The purpose of arming Ukraine is give them enough ordinance to make them competitive and a threat to Russia and keep them in the fight, without being enough to be decisive. The US is perfectly willing to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian if necessary. They have secured European gas and oil markets, are making huge profits from supplying Ukraine and NATO militaries with arms and oil, and getting to test their latest tech against a near peer competitor in battlefield conditions, including their latest AI gear, without any loss of life to their own military personnel and zero strategic risk should Ukraine lose. The profits have replaced those lost with the withdrawal from Afghanistan and its worth noting special forces are getting lots of opportunity to perform behind enemy lines attacks deep into Russia, embedded in and leading Ukrainian units.
Bravo Times Radio, finally an interviewer whose ego does not produce interminable five minute questions, whose questions are brief and relevant, allowing the person we are here to listen to, talk. The general was allowed to be his usual, humble, self-effacing, insightful self.
Здравствуйте я русский и смотрю это интервью с открытым ртом, браво причем я понимаю всё что говорит учёный муж Бэн, и я понимаю почти каждую идею, так мысль его ясна и логична.
Great interview 😊
Do you support Putin? Don’t you think Ukrain leaning towards NATO is bad?
That was a terrific interview. She asked the right questions, and he answered them succinctly. Why on earth can't our news organizations generate the same quality?
Who is our news organizations? This is off of PBS in the U.S.. Frontline is the most informative news program no one's heard of and its free. People watching too much Fox and CNN should try being educated by the channel that taught them the ABC'S and how to count "ha ha ha ha" laughed the Count. Anyhow ignore her accent this show is produced in Boston for Public Broadcasting System.
Excellent interview. Thank you to you both and your teams.
Excellent interviewer!
Ben Hodges as brilliantly informative, as always!
Well done to all concerned.
(New Zealand is simply desperate for quality interviewers such as this intelligent, erudite & unbiased interviewer! An abject lesson for the entire journalism sector!).
Respect from New Zealand. 🇳🇿
Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
As another Kiwi I suggest you watch some interviews with Douglas MacGregor. Easily found here on youtube.
@Larry Lelemur thank you. I hadn’t heard of him - so will look him up now.
Thanks again. RH
Kia Ora
Great coverage and effective interview style. Thanks for bringing more Gen. Hodges to us.
I thought so too, thanks for posting !
16:40 Talking about support for the war in Congress"...strong bipartisan support. ... there are three or four loudmouths on both extremes..." That perfectly describes just about every issue in the U.S. today. General Hodges is one of the most articulate, well informed, and reasonable leaders I've heard in a long time. I hope he continues to lead in our country in some capacity for a long time.
There is growing impatience with providing the bankroll for this war. This isn't reflected in Congress yet, but the population is dissatisfied. Look at Trump and RFK Jr poll numbers, two candidate for ceasing hostilities in Ukraine.
Finally someone that understands reality....
A brilliant interview with Lt General Ben Hodges, the interviewer know her subject and it was a delight to listen to both of them. its always interesting to hear an authority on military matters, talking about the war Russia started with Ukraine, and how it is evolving. These high ranking military people have a vast amount of knowledge to give on a realistic and strategic level, they make it easy for us non-military people can understand. Congratulations must go to Times Radio for arranging this interview.
As a South East Asian citizen, I really dream we had a capable bunch of top brass generals with half a caliber of Lt.Gen Hodges or Gen. Wesley Clark in my country. So far the only terrains those Generals are capable of conquering are our own elected governments by Coup d'état - pretty sad.
@love peace and respect Very interesting - would make a good article in FT or Forbes.
@love peace and respectso they're all tyrannical dictators, what's your point??
Lost in Iraq and Afganistan😂
@love peace and respect No.
@Mutt Jones 😊😊😊 MO❤r
A pleasure to listen to this interview, thanks to both Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges and Kate Gerbeau
Lt. General Hodges provides articulate, intelligent, reasonable insights guided by common sense and fealty to our core ideals of freedom, democracy, and basic human rights--increasingly hard to find a voice like his these days. Our country needs more individuals like him in leadership positions, and more voices like his in public discussion of military/geopolitical matters.
Are you Hodges mum.
I agree! He is just the best and I always tune in when I see his name as a guest anywhere!
Only when it suits the west's purposes mind you. Look how unconcerned you all are about Afghanistan, Yemen etc. Damage done let's move on is your mantra.
@Sunny The best liar, yes... And he doesn't mind Ukrainians dying...
Thank you LT. General Hodges that was a wonderful interview! This is what talent looks looks like!
he lost two wars
❤
Sheep😂
What a simple minded guy!
What I like about Gen. Hodges is that he is upbeat. An important quality in a commander.
NPR gives equal weight to what the Russians say. I think budget cuts are a problem for them. They don't do analysis anymore.
And a propagandist.
@Feeble Clone yep!
This man certainly knows what he is talking about, his manner is easy-going but you know he doesn't suffer fools gladly. I could listen to him for hours, great interview. 👍
The General tells it like it is without a doubt. It’s always interesting to listen to him, and I’ve learned a lot from his interviews.
Very well done very informative. Thank you for your professionalism and thank you for your service
So refreshing to hear a journalist who appreciates the big picture and does not ask dumb questions as if this was the first day they'd heard about the Ukraine situation. Thank you TIMES RADIO! Thank you Kate Gerbeau!
Except that what both are saying is all false. Not a shred of truth in this.
@Rose-Marie Mukarutabana Hey Natasha, or Ivan, 8 Megatons for Moscow!!!!!!!!
Being a army brat it was like hearing my father speak again and I could listen to him all day long plus he makes perfect sense
except these days the vets are just as likely to be the biggest critics of the government and even the war now arent they? next time you see one ask them what state of readiness their unit is in....
@Operator 9 actually that's the super old timer vets like vietnam era or gulf war era vets, the more modern vets from afghanistan era aren't hugely anti government but obviously not in total alignment with it either.
i think if you ask most afghan era vets most of them will probably say what the US is doing with ukraine is generally pretty good, if not they aren't doing enough.
Great interview, Good old Ben, voice of reason and truth.
I was glued to my phone listening to this interview. I loved the girl asking the questions n never once did she interrupt Major Hodges with his answers. He was so good at explaining everything. I really liked this man. Obviously a very good man. Thank you both for an excellent interview.
Finally, a decent Times Radio presenter/reporter! Ben Hodges. Superb as always.
All of them seem good
10% disapproval says you are wrong.
@Juan Sanchez Maths not your strong point? Eh?
@Deena Another way to put it is, lets say you need life saving surgery and the doc that is going to do it has a 10% failure rate. Would you hire him/her because 90% survived his surgery?
I was speaking in the first person. It's not a contest, a war.... everyone has value to add.
Great interview! Love the General!!
Ben Hodges is really impressive. What a thoughtful and articulate man.
Please keep bringing him on. There are few if any US media outlets that would cover such an in-depth story.
Thank you.
He has in depth interviews on US media often.
Hodges didn't say anything to the audience except "hooray." His popularity is understandable to me, but... Why waste time. I watched it for the first time. I'll watch Hodges a second time if I want to have fun. He's trying to make fools of the audience. In my opinion, Hodges is a bit like the actor Bruce Willis. Maybe this is the secret of popularity (such "Die Hard")?
His calm assesments are very much appreciated.
@Andrey Zaycev beat it you stooge
@NYCAC1 Dear sir, thank you for your opinion, it is very valuable to me :)
- What will happen if Ukraine fails to conquer Crimea by the end of August 2023. Will Hodges "disappear from the radar," or will he continue to talk to the audience as if everything is going right?
Excellent interview. Ive seen a bunch of interviews of Kate Gerbeau now, and i very much enjoyed all of them.
Incredible, insightful interview, thanks.
That was a great interview, well done.
Extremely intelligent, a great speaker he often points a large concept into a practical situation. I’m impressed
It's great to hear a highly intelligent journalist asking all the questions we're eager to hear the answers to from a respected mind. Brilliant stuff!
I am glad that Ben Hodges mentioned Germany's current role positively. What an interesting interview! Thank you!
Indeed... and at last.
@XRP 747E What?
Germany's 280 tanks vs Russia's 37,000! 😅😂😅😂
@William T Smith Yes, 280 real tanks against 37 000 oversized, badly serviced caviar tins. Imagine that!
Without doubt one of the best beautifully Smart piece of interview Ever . A real eye opener isn't it ? Clever brilliantly articulated Smart interviewer sqweezed Lt General Ben Hodges into giving a brilliant panoramic abreviated sight into present Situation . - we'll be in war in five years - you said it much better than I did - Lt . General Ben Hodges . Thanks Salute BRILLIANT !
Another great analysis by General Hodges - erudite, insightful, balanced.
😂😂😂😂
He said Biden is doing a great job😂😂😂😂😂 were you asleep while listening to this?
@Bot As far as I can tell, every country is on a trajectory to a big-time recession in one from another, if they aren't already there. Even my own country of Australia which has not had a recession since 1992, is headed that way. No country is an island but part of a global community whether one likes it or not, so if the United States is suffering, well guess what, every other country is too. What Hodges was referring to was Biden's contribution to Ukraine. He could had ignored the calls for help but he didn't. Now that is what I call doing a great job.
Just found this channel and subscribed. Great interview! I look forward to watching more 🇺🇸🇺🇦
This guy has missed his calling .I really enjoyed his interview, not laughed so much for ages.
Ben Hodges deserves our respect and appreciation. His understanding of politics, negotiation, world trends, and history is admirable. Imagine if he was our president.
Assuming Biden wins again I would love to see Gen. Hodges as Sec. Def.
Assuming Biden doesn't have another brain aneurysm....🤔
I agree, but he doesn't always have good insight or advice. That thing about posting the chain of command of the people who destroy Ukrainian hospitals is useless, sorry. It's completely naive, it's like expecting a snail to see something through its shell and be put to shame by it. I'd be happy to see him as an advisor to the Secretary of Defence, he'd be great at that. But not the decision-maker. Very slightly lacking in knowledge of Russia.
Very true - he's well rounded
It is good he actually mentioned the UK, so many news sources always talk about the US and with nothing on the UK and with what they've supplied.
She is an extremely good interviewer, well done on your line of questions and he answered very well also.
MAD is the only reason.
I like this guy. He knows his stuff.
This guy needs his own military stream talking about the way the world is going, I'd watch him.
Good idea, his time is valuable though. Maybe a bi weekly or monthly stream would be cool.
Great interview, Kate.
Very helpful interview with Lt Gen Hodges!
Excellent interview, thank you both!
Very informative and well conducted interview.
Always a pleasure to hear from Gen. Hodges. A consummate professional, always humble, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable.
…He’s great…Slava Ukraine…💙💛💙
I love this guy. Just the way he talks radiates intelligence.
Great interview - thanks. Insightful and interesting.
Finally a news commentator that’s a real journalist
'Hard to get a man to understand something when his paycheck depends upon him not understanding it.'
Zelinsky?
This guy is always a great interview
Excellent interview! Thanks!
Great interview and a great general. It's almost nuts that some people in FOX news are supporting Putin.
Report that to the FBI, they must take action now!
Great show, guest, and host. Thank you.
There are 2 experts that are miles away from the rest: Gen. Ben Hodges and Prof Michael Clarke.
Thank you guys for your great work. Slava Ukraini 💙💛
Agree entirely.
I agree!
Exactly
Elegant. I continue to appreciate you and your dedicated professionalism, sir.
Intelligent commentary and a decent interviewer. More of this, please.
Great interview!
This lady is Amazing ! Calm and professional ! She is a very very very talented lady ! Really ! Keep going ! Please !
Great interview.thanks 👍
The fact that he predicted this war eight years ago is impressive. My impression of how insightful this guy is continues to improve beyond what I thought the limit.
Yeah, he's a very good expert, but Lithuania had been warning the West against Russia for years. Unfortunately, the West lived and still lives in a sort of bubble (and I don't write this with any malice, my country is in NATO and I majored in English). But you should really pay more attention to what Poles and Lithuanians and the Czech president (a retired general) and other people like that say. We know Russia better than you do, or than Gen. Hodges does. It's incredibly frustrating when you say something for years, than Russia attacks and... people STILL don't listen to you and praise other people who have sligthly less experience than you do.
Funny, all the world knew that this war will happen since 2008. Russia warned west with Georgia and Krimea about it. And this man is clever? Oh, yes, he fighted war in Afganistan against goats and sheep, and still manage to loose. Krimea return idea says all about this man wisdom.
@MartaVdz Yes, very true.
@doca Did you forget Budapest Memoradum in 1994? Also if Finland joined NATO, why isn't Russia militarily stopping them? It is all about land and resources for their kleptocracy.
@doca he did far better than Russian Generals did in Afghanistan. The US wasn't going to stay
Excellent and really interesting interview
Very interesting interview. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦
She let him respond in depth. Very insightful.
Surprisingly good, very interesting just to hear it all spelled out by a good communicator.
Great interview, very informative and looking forward to how it all unfolds.
Hope there are further followups to this discussion. For better of worse...
Excellent interview!
Ben Hodges is bar none the best pundit covering this war. Always enjoy his commentary. Great speaker.
There is also an older British guy that's been on this channel that gives really good commentary too
Yes. Ben Hodges has always tried to be the American Tariq Aziz.
It's not a football match!!
Just because he say what you want to hear does not mean he is right,
Well, I still remember Bens assumtion of Ukranian "irreversible momentum" last year -- nothing left from that. I hope, he is right this time.
How can he be right, when his intention is to lie and manipulate?
@Rose-Marie Mukarutabana he is either intentional or delusional
@Rose-Marie Mukarutabanaunsure on your point, he is retired, hence only a commentator. Who is he manipulating?
Great interview thank you!
Thank you, I was beginning to worry already, but, since Ben Hodges says, it must be true... ROFLMAO
I think this man knows of what he speaks......thank you.
Excellent work USA! Thank you.
Ben Hodges is a level-headed patriot in the Eisenhower mold. No bragging. Good sense of humor. Self-effacing. Incisive, competent, and credible. Thank God we still have folks of his caliber.
@Ivanna Jerkov keep coping comrade.
shame he talks nonsense
Great man, great interview. Too bad that most western leaders don't have his insight. :-(
Yukire
Kate I am loving your interviews with these leaders such as Ben Hodges and other thinkers in this series of interviews about the Ukrainian invasion.
The reason why the US isn't part of the ICC is because there would be alot of Americans who would be charged with war crimes.
Yep
As it should be. We need to hold ourselves accountable too.
Is that not true of every country?
Including every living president.
All the more reason the U.S. should join. It's 2023 and this is way past due.
Best analysis of the conflict from a purely American perspective. Clearly explains the impact this war will have on the world and the US’ future internal relations. This guy should run for president.
He’d have my vote!
This is one of the best interviews I’ve seen with this guy. He knows what he’s talking about and we should listen to what he’s talking about. I recommend this to anyone that wants to get a better grip on what’s going on in Ukraine and what’s going on with Russia?
This is very true ! 🇺🇦
Unfortunately, his expertise is surpassed by that of Lithuanian experts (well, logically, because they're in NATO, but also have plenty of experience with Russia and Ukraine). But they mostly give interviews in Lithuanian.
@MartaVdz Not to mention the Estonian security services; they are probably in the top 3 globally on russia.
@Opponens Periculo I'd love to see English translations of what they say!
@MartaVdz I'd love to hear that translated into English! ❤
This guy needs to run for president
I love hearing Ben Hodges speak.
The best jokes from Hodges regarding Russia. CNN should hire this guy to be their CEO
Excellent interview. Always very impressive to hear what Gen Hodges has to say.
Cogent, smart comment. Excellent piece. Have to admire Kate G for understanding that the best interviewers are there to allow the interviewee to express and expound their views in a way that is appropriate for the audience, rather than being a medium for the display of the interviewer's intellect. (Which is the current standard of interviewing on the British Media). I want to hear the guest's views, I want the information, I want questions posed, but I want to hear all of the answer!! Good job.
Your interviewer was well selected and briefed. She wrested informed, articulate, educated, experienced-based, analysis and information out of Gen. Hodges, whose competence extends beyond his vast military knowledge. Thanks to them both and to Times Radio for this valuable exchange.
Kate Gerbeau
didn't even talked about nukes.
@riskinhos if you want nuke talk, I warmly recommend you The Russian Media Monitor. 😂😂😂
Your hosts, solly, skabby and simony are the peak of ruzzian entertainment 😅
I do appreciate Ben Hodges views very much, and he is my first go-to General when it comes to analysis of this war. However, his assesment of Biden is... Wishful at least... He barely knows his way in to the white house. Let alone finding the door out.
She didn't wrest anything from him. What in the world is wrong with you?
Very good interview. Good questions. Good to give the general the time to answer.
Always love to hear Hodges' commentary
The General always offers keen insights.
Wow! There's a man who knows what he's talking about. Could listen to him all day.
Like a bed time story
@Bruce McNee Gotta love a happy ending! Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦🇬🇧
I think this was the best interview I've seen yet with a (former) US General. So well done both parties, very compelling and informative.
I agree! And I'm 63 years old!
Agreed.
I like Kate's diction, and her voice. Hodges is always awesome.
We could probably find more useful interview subjects than US war criminals ...
There is something about US Generals - they epitomize the very best of our society. Just sound and well rounded communicators, our politicians need to communicate as good as them.
Great show. Great questions with clear and concise answers.
Enthralling ,insightful interview. 29 very fast minutes.
"The funny thing about being in Vietnam was I was getting Time magazine delivered.
It came in the mail.
I would read what Lyndon Johnson would say, what McNamara would say, and what Russ would say.
I don't know what war they're talking about, but that's not what's going on here."
-Bill Ehrhart, U.S. Marine in Vietnam 1967-'68
So refreshing to hear a high level American talking good, intelligent sense. Ben Hodges has a complete understanding of the situation as it is, and the best way forward with regard to this conflict and what may follow.
Go away bot.
The situation is we lost🤣
Respect this guy Ace
Putin in February 2022: "I'm doing this to prevent NATO's expansion."
Putin today: "Oops."
Great interview and high respect for General Hodges, I feel if I were a soldier I would have been honored to serve under him for his decency and fairness. On the point of war crimes, I strongly believe the Russians need to be held accountable. The US, also needs to join the ICC and implement serious reforms when it comes to its soldiers conduct in wars as well as those on top. We need to start with trying Mr Kissinger's war crimes during Vietnam and stop covering up US soldiers misconducts with whitewash and pardons. This should also extend to our friends like Israel for its crimes, and if not, the world will never respect the US asking accountability from its adversaries.
Onward to your death for no good reason....RiP
@Geoff Lee Don't know what you are saying?
This was the best interview I’ve seen the times do.
