Dont say that! Even if its a figment of your imagination I'm keeping it.
Comedy is subjective. If u think its funny, then so be it. I love the show for its profanity and lack of care over being PC. But the best part of it is the way its shot. The cinematography here is golden, with the whole show looking like a theatrical performance rather than something on a 2D screen. Its a technical masterpiece, and the humor just adds to it.

Mad Men showed us all that you have to do is set a show in the 50s or 60s and the Emmys will roll in, its bullshit.

A friend recommended I watch this show about a week and a half ago. I (reluctantly) promised I would. So I did. It's ABSOLUTELY fabulous !!! I binge watched all 3 seasons. Now I'm going through withdrawals 😅😕😮. I LOVE it!

I really hope Lenny is part of the main cast this season - he was included in the Emmy lineup and all those characters were main. Also the shot they used melted my fucking heart - he's clearly watching Midge. I ship it so much🥰
I’d hope he’s in it more, too, but I feel like there’s something problematic (to me, at least) with the idea of shipping a real person that died tragically with a fictional character. I prefer to think of them as colleagues and friends than lovers - bogging down Midge with yet another love interest also feels cliche and overdone.

@Raeeya I thought they'd write a love story between Lenny and Midge. I know realistically it isn't possible since he is a real character and married to booth. But, really, this isn't reality either.
I was REALLY scared he wasn't coming back to the show after his "all alone" sketch. I gasp when I saw his face in the trailer (I swear they did it on purpose, leaving him for the end). I'm so glad he's there!

He is in two episode and he gets a hell of a scene with Midge.
Yeah, I think they hinted pretty strongly at the end of Season 2 that his character would be leaving the scene. I don't think he was good for Midge. He just wanted to "collect" her like another rare piece of art. She deserves better.

My fav show ever, the set pieces, the acting,the music, it takes you back to the 50s-60s
I haven't watched a show that brings me so much complicated joy in a while. I just love her and her parents.
I must say this season was wonderful, putting aside the dad thing, I really liked it. All the scenes were as if they were dancing, so perfectly choreographed. The music was amazing as well. Technically it was the best of all the seasons, when it comes to the plot maybe not as good as the others but equally enjoyable. Really looking forward for the next season
I have all kinds of hots for Luke Kirby as Lenny Bruce. There's just something about that man.

Ruth Naranjo - As much as we’d love that, it can’t happen historically speaking. By 1960, Bruce was struggling with hepatitis and he’d be back with Honey (his ex-wife) pretty soon (though they never remarried and he slept with so many women even in marriage).
Bruce cleaned up a bit after Honey was arrested in HI (1956) for possession of pot. He had custody of their daughter who was born in 1955 and did somewhat okay until Honey was out of prison by 1959.
But Bruce was also with Annie Ross sometime in the late 50’s who was an addict and it is presumed the two of them used together. But it was after Honey was freed that he really spiraled down. His swings back to Honey always led to both of them falling into meth and heroin.
And, of course, by August 1966, he died of an overdose.
I think there’s something in Midge that appreciates Lenny and has a special love for him. And they are definitely attracted to one another. But some red flag inside her tells her not to tread down that road. Midge has this innate sensibility that Lenny could pull her into a place she does not want to be. She knows he struggles with addiction. Everyone did by this time, even if she did appreciate his genius.
Anyhow, that’s my take on why it won’t happen. Both Sherman-Palladio and Brosnahan confirm that they will not get together in that way. It will be interesting to see how their relationship pans out.
If you want to see Lenny in his raw self (& it doesn’t even include everything), watch Lenny from 1974 with a very young Dustin Hoffman. It’s on Amazon Prime. Warning, there’s a lot of nudity and the very last graphic you see is a zoom out on a photo of Lenny laying dead on his bathroom floor in the nude. I later learned that it is not Dustin Hoffman, but the actual police photo of Bruce. That was pretty haunting.
Anyhow, you can also search for his routines on Clip-Share and see him for real. The show he did with Steve Allen (featured in last season’s episodes) is there and it is uncanny how Luke Kirby channeled the original.

the "remember the face" scene where she hands out money is a reference to gilmore girls :) when paris and rory go on spring break and arrive at the hotel, the same thing happens, with the same "that guy doesn't work here"... it's a really great way of introducing liza weil into the season!!

Everyone in the cast and the characters are wonderful. There is great music. I loved seeing the women explore their opportunities this season. i am excited and looking forward to Season 4 of this awesome show.
It´s amazing what good writing, great acting by a stellar cast and opulent settings can do - first class entertainment that not for a second let´s the audience down or insults the intelligence of the viewer! This is how good streaming can be when all things come together!

Ms. Maisel is everything I dreamed about being as a 20-something - a stand up comic living in Manhattan with lots of great dresses and a crazy family. I can't believe they made a TV series just for me.

My greatest hope for this show is that they resist the temptation to show Midge gain stardom and then turn her into a big-headed, selfish shrew who devolves into bitterness as her popularity fades. I want Midge (and this show) to stay smart, upbeat, colorful, and unpredictable.

I LOVE Midge and Joel together. The final scene of season 2 made me so happy! I hated Joel in season 1 and he redeemed himself over the course of season 2.

Cool & funny show!!!
Started watching a couple months ago. Now just finished up to S3 E3. I never knew Borstein could play this type of character. Tony Shalhoub, I love ya, but all I see now is Adrien Monk... he still has some of Monk’s quirks in Abe. Even Midge’s mom is funny too. But, I think, along with everyone here apparently I can’t get enough of Lenny Bruce. Dude who plays him is a scene stealer. Midge is the best thing on the show no doubt, but Lenny is loads of fun to watch. Benjamin (Shazam guy) was fine, with more style than substance... he played the part.
The only thing I can’t stand from the show even early in 3rd season is Joel. The schmuck!!! I don’t care if he’s making up for it. Maybe I have something against guys that look like him with slicked back hair. Joel would probably be an ok friend, but Midge deserves better! Maybe I need to see the Joel actor in other shows before I write off the actor too.
Also, maybe I understand Sophie Lennon’s routine in how she is supposed to appear to be funny in the 50s/60s but at the same time appear oh so lame and repetitive in comparison to the other acts (mainly Midge) and leaves myself wondering how in the world anyone actually laughs at that boring stuff. You only laugh because it’s stupid silly...not haha funny a la Miriam. This is a comedy series, I get it! But holy cow Sophie is so lame you laugh I guess. Now I have to look up if Sophie is based on an actual person.

The song "Perfectly Marvelous" is from Cabaret, written in 1966. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel takes place in the late 1950s. Which means Mrs Maisel is _even more_ marvelous, cuz she's a time traveler.
