    Thermal paste is made to last though, while shampoo may keep it cooler, you would probably have to replace it every few days, while you can go years on one layer of thermal paste, still really cool though.

    ATTENTION. I have actually done this before over a period of 3 months. It seems that for the first week the Temp under load didn’t even come close to going over 35-40, but after that every time I ran the machine the temperature under load would increase after each bench. When I examined the cpu the shampoo had crystallised. Maybe I had a different shampoo but thought I would share.

    In some ways this doesn’t surprise me. Have you ever noticed just how cold shampoo feels when you squirt some into your hand? That suggests strong thermal conductivity.
