@idealicfool To be fair, there isn't a single soundtrack that Hiroyuki Sawano has made that I haven't loved. His work on Attack on Titan, Aldnoah.0 and so on is just fucking awesome
@Y it's not hard to be after listening to them for a while. The moment I heard their work in the Fak/Strange trailer was like yo, this is Gunna be a banger.
Well, his videos are analyses, right? He breaks it down and explores what makes it good or bad, what are its strengths and what not. It doesn't suddenly get more interesting, per se, he just lets you see it through another lens, it gives you a fresher look on the show that you might not have had on your own. He's really good at this, which is why I love Gigguk so much. He's so good.
Re:Creators was god-tier genius, even when the execution occasionally wobbled. The premise and the true deconstruction of it all made it one of the most unique entertainment experiences I've ever encountered. To this day, it's one of my favorite anime. I wish there was a way they could make more of it, even though that would make no sense.
Ahh re creators. The 2nd one anime that I hated so much that I had to give it a 1/10. The MC and that b1tch. Holy guacamole! Gosh I hated it way too much.
Yeah and when you know that hiroyuki sawano acknowledges it you know it's some good shit. I wish that one day it could become a movie with disney tier of money. Even if it becomes a weirdass battleroyale it would still be insanely entertaining.
Gigguk always got me goosebumps everytime he do these kind of videos, he know just the perfect words to choose everytime he explain about anime, and this one... BIG W
Honestly tho, what if... what if there was an Avengers series of anime, like with actual characters from different anime shows in a single series. It would be the sickest shit ever.
@ゆうき i'm not by any means a big anime fan, but i saw it was really popular and figured i might give it a go. To this day i don't understand why anyone would recommend it
After watching your video essay I had to check this anime out, and I wasn’t disappointed. I really liked this anime because it shows us writers that our characters can exist outside of our head, inside our hearts in our own mental meta space. Brilliant video man.
As a person whos been trying to write a book its true. I got into DnD and my first time being a DM I decided to homebrew a session in my world. It would be a fun way to introduce peopld to my world and such. The best part of it was that in doing this session with them, it caused me to do more world building I never originally intended.
I’m so glad someone is talking about this anime. Discovered it with a friend a couple years ago and the great writing and awesome soundtrack sold us on it. It’s very clear it’s a show that is made by writers and shows a lot of the mental crises that writers go through, and many times it gets so meta that breaking the fourth wall isn’t even close. And also with a very tragic but believable narrative behind all the genre clashing. I wish more people would see it, because I also loved it.
I discovered this anime by accident while searching for one of those « re » shows and everything. Honestly, one of the best discoveries I’ve made in such a while. The opening song got stuck in my head for months, and I’m so happy that Gigguk’s doing a vid on it. Truly something that went under the radar and would have deserved more attention!
Surprised to see some Re:Creators love, but always glad to see it. Same! I rewatched this twice! I down for a live action movie if done right. They got similar concept like this with the movie Inkheart but I definitely think that with similar concept like this would be banger!
What a blast from the past. Thank you for covering it again and just reinforcing the idea that a 7 or 8 that I love is worth more than a 10 I didn't enjoy watching. This anime was truly something else, a 10/10 in my book, and as someone who used to write a lot back in high school and immerse myself in stories, hit different. I remember watching this back in 2019 and have no idea of what made me seek it out initially, but I loved it. I tried to get others onboard but they'd be turned away by the dialogue after episode 1. Even online it would be difficult to find someone who truly liked it; they'd always talk about its flaws more than what they liked about it. I recognise that it has its flaws but still felt like it was magnified for no reason other than "yeah I know what I'm talking about as a seasoned viewer of anime". Oh and the soundtrack. I was addicted to Sawano after this anime and watched Aldnoah:Zero afterwards (RIP) for more of him. Every track in this anime was a 10/10 with Layers being a 11/10; the meaning behind the lyrics being the reason why it's higher on my list. Kudos to the crazy people who came with this and the ones who let it be executed. I want more shows like this, I'm sure they're out there but I haven't found them yet.
God I love Re:Creators, still my favorite anime of all time. Thank you for talking about it, been trying to convince my friends to watch it and they watch you so maybe with your endorsement XD
13:35 I LITERALY HAD TO PUT MY HAND OVER MY MOUTH, OAUSE AND TURN AWAY CUS SHIT GOT SO REAL. If Guts found out all of his suffering was designed and we had to tell him that people were inspired by him, but he and his whole reality was basicly sacrificed like an insect for that... I... This video is a godsend, I discovered Re:Creators during a very low point in my life, I was heavily depressed, unsure about the future and what I could do to improve my situation. I remember trying to cope with it all by drawing daily, studying the works of my favorite artists, trying to understand what appeals to me creatively. I'd watch 2 episodes a day and the more I waited, the more it ruminated in my mind, the beauty of creation itself, the inner-workings of the characters we create and the philosophical discussions which arise from the stories that exist, as well as the importance of character interaction. Sota's story felt incredibly real, his inner-struggles in trying to justify his own creative spirit, and the looming threat of consequences from his past staring him in the face. Each of the various creators had their own philosophies for creation, each one we got the chance to explore felt incredibly relatable and nuanced. To top it all off, Altair is everything I've ever wanted in a character, she's my favorite character ever made. To me, Re:Creators, despite its flaws, is undoubtedly my favorite series I've ever watched. If I hadn't discovered that first episode when I did, I don't know where I'd be right now.
After having checked Re:Creators from seeing this video, I quite liked it. Yes there was so much talking which could've been reduced, but also I wish they spent more time developing the characters as some didn't feel like they had a lot of depth to them. Also found Magane to be one of the most interesting characters, and found it weird she didn't appear in the last ep, but by far Altair was such an interesting villain with real movies. Overall a great show.
When this anime first released, I almost skipped over it without even giving the synopsis a read. I believe it was when the 2nd to last episode aired when I suddenly had a change of heart and threw the first episode on. Episode 2 was when I felt an emotion I can only describe as "This is it. This is the one." And that it was, I don't think I'll ever come across another piece of media I love more than Re:Creators. My 2nd place will be crowded, but 1st is sitting comfortably.

Denn gleichwie der Leib ohne Geist tot ist, also ist auch der Glaube ohne Werke tot. Jakobus 2:24,26
the whole concept of a character meeting their creator reminded me of satoshi kon's manga, opus. gigguk's made me want to revisit both that manga and this anime
I enjoyed Re:Creators when it was airing. Not sure how much I'll still enjoy it through a re-watch, but from what I remember, it definitely had its moments. The concept reminds me of the movie, "Last Action Hero," but in anime form. Also Cautious Hero slaps
I just watched it because of your video (i finished it), i LOVE it. The concept is so interesting, i rly enjoyed the interactions between the creations and the creators (and with the other creations), it has good music, entertaining action, overall rly good and became one of my fav anime. Though, the explanations of what is happening were rly confusing and nonsense, and way too long. I rooted for Altaïr the whole time, and i'm pretty satisfied with how she ended up (not the best ending by any mean but still).
i swear Garnt has such a way with words in expressing something I've loved and feel the same way towards for the last 5 years. what a video man. i do kinda wish he touched on the amazing soundtrack a bit though, knowing he's a huge Hiroyuki Sawano fan as well
I didn't expect Gigguk to talk about Re:Creators but man am I glad he did. Also the music is a banger and I bet all Re:Creator fans were singing along, I know I was.
Truly one of the interesting anime ever released, even if the execution is all over the place. Unrelated topic but this anime reminds me of some Narreme/Pataphysics related SCP Writings, which is awesome if you ever got exposed to that concept though imo.
There has only ever been a monogatari. I consider it to be a masterpiece. Been watching animes for years. Haven't found a show which tells stories like the monogatari series. Gigguk plz make a sequel to your earlier video on monogatari series.
I loved ReCreators and its concept! It was really interesting and the fights were awesome with banger music. I was surprised to see no one talking about it or making art of the characters. When I posted my fanart of Meteora it seemed like no one knew who she was, so I guess it's just one of those shows that somehow slid under everyone's radar.
Thank you Gigguk! Мне всегда страшно зря потратить время, но у меня огромная любовь к аниме, и именно благодаря тебе я нахожу всё новые и новые произведения, от которых хочется взять и продолжить жить по настоящему!
I just finished watching this. Its good. But I am gonna add one thing. When you watch it, it can cfeel somewhat unremarkable. I thought about it a bit and come up witht following conclusion: A LOT of the character interactions are so natural for how the characters are written that it just feels like a regular conversation without anything interesting going on, additionally because the interaction fits so well for the characters, it is also easy to predict how said interaction will go, making it less exciting. That being said its a good time.
I should rewatch this show myself. I had a fan fic for it going for a little while, but eventually lost inspiration, and I always thought a rewatch might jump-start my creativity, but haven't ever gotten around to it. This might be just the push I need.
One man's trash is another's treasure. This is my treasure. I just watched this for the first time because of this video, and it was amazing. It scratched an itch I never knew I had man
Oh. Someone really know about this anime! I have watched it very long time ago. Today, a couple of hours before this video i remembered it because of its opening song "gravity wall" that i caught on my music playlist. So i remember that this anime like: "It was a grand idea, but with very very rough realisation and too much 'people on the internet are scary' final plot twist" In the final there was incredible moment where this "monogatari type" caracter didn`t returned to her world because of her personality. So yes. It is an incredible anime. But... there is needed some "recreation of re:creators" because of so much things it done wrong. I also read one or two novels of similar idea... So i think... If i become a god of someones little imaginary world, i must implement some of re:creators idea. (What a strong dejavu... I feel like i already wrote comment similar to this under video like this...) (Is this ever gone be read? please be read it would be fun)
@Weebmatic I understand. But sometimes people want to have a proper essay and have jokes, like his older videos, which are good blend of information and jokes (mostly). These past few times though, it hasn't been the case. I like Scamboli more now anyways.
Just started watching and honestly all the dialogue really helps set the stage, these characters are having freakin existential crisis and are dealing with ethics and philosophy. The dialogue hightens the drama and internal dilemmas which make this show poppin. Thanks for the rec!
Being one of the people who actually genuinely enjoyed and appreciated this show. This just sent shivers upon shivers down my spine. Im.... Speechless Thank you gigguk for this gift.
I really liked the show, but always hated the mc. And despite what gigguk says, still hate him. He gave a perfect analogy: it's a Shinji-ass boring mc wasting our time and overall screentime being indecisive over the same thing for over half the show.
Can’t wait for the eventual Gigguk Genshin video 😤 Re:Creators has been on my watch list for waaaay too long, and this video is the sign that I need to start watching it now
"A seven or eight out of ten show that appeals to me is in my opinion more important than a perfectly crafted ten out of ten classic that doesn't." I feel this way about Finding Nemo. I know that it's a "classic" that I appreciate, but it's my least favorite Pixar movie to watch.
Huh. That ED-esque last 10 seconds was a real surprise and somehow hit like a truck, despite being nothing but some OST, voice-lines and a montage of action-filled zoomed-in attacks. And must say each thing was well-picked (somehow was touching despite being nothing :p), good editing!
The fact that you finally managed to talk about this anime after so long is just a testament to how rent free it lived in your head. Good job Giggster !
mannn I need to finish this, I litterally was watching when it came out for like 5-6 eps but I dropped it at some point and I have no idea why, I think I just forgot about it
I love you use weeb positively. And yeah you got me it’s on my list now. Well done in many ways with how you changed energy, words, jokes , respect, honesty, appreciation and even memes….. like it’s so refreshing to have and you use music to make your words more. Damn it’s beautiful. Seriously like wow. Incredible job is an insult to your work
Just as i thought people rarely watch this anime, i alr recommended re:creators my weab friends back in 2017 and now finally someone is speaking about this after 5 years and all of them start watching it yesterday hahaha.
I love recreators. Sadly we live in the alternate universe that this series didn't become a undisputed classic but one where its only remembered by a few for how amazing it was. And you know what I'm happy to be one of those few.
I discovered Re:Creators due to subscribing to Hiroyuki Sawano's music yt channel and is the first anime I watched because of the music (second was LotGH DNT). No regrets watching this, still love it to this day, and man, Magane Chikujoin is the best.
I haven't seen Re:Creators and I have no plans of watching it. But I really agree with you. I've been watching anime for 3 decades but only few stayed in my heart like this anime did to you. For me, the anime that will be forever in me is Madoka Magica.
Never saw it when it aired and questioned watching. To me it sounds Animator vs. Animation but Anime. Or like Castle Town Dandelion the family plot is there of a competition but the down time each character arcs work well only it's what ifs with anime characters in the 'real' world and to me that sounds cool. But to me the action moments lacking for people sounds like people want action figures fighting level of ridiculous how else do you build situations with talking not everything is particles and attacks on screen for their inner highs. XD The situations of 'these situational what ifs and other down time events' to me does sound interesting then action. I don't care for action scenes that much so I only cared about it in certain anime. Animegataris used it's references and elements well I think the ending was weird but still.
We need more re creators fans, and you bringing it up is gonna make people come into this anime more. Thank you so much about talking about it, and thanks so much to the people here watching it, cause it needs some sort of spinoff that isn’t just another manga set in one of the fictional worlds and it needs support like hell needs sinners.

@fck peace Ah a fellow Omniscient Reader too! While it's not the best, but It's like a 100x definitely better than the the Solo Leveling *(too overhyped ngl, it's actually just some power-fantasy crap for power-obsessed edgelords to jerk-off into)* Actually Omniscient Reader is also a similar concept to Re:Creators too *(Concept: Reverse-isekai; Characters from a fictional piece of media getting transported to our world)* but ofcourse the difference is that Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint does it better than Re:Creators.
I mean for an Isekai anime, It's one of the best Isekai *(I mean, it's a REVERSE Isekai so i'm not entirely wrong)* Animes ever, definitely better than today's modern Isekai trashs. *(God I wish there are more great Reverse-Isekai Animes like Re:Creators. Oh wait... that's right! **_more generic Medieval era-based w/ Fantasy and RPG-styled system with an OP Protagonist being sent by that world by some funni Big Metal Box on lots of big wheels! That's CLEARLY what we need!_** damn)*
I remember watching Re:Creators years ago and having an absolute blast, but I never heard anything about it anywhere. Heck, I only knew it existed because a single friend recommended it to me and I have no idea where he found it
Re:Creators is a decent author being frustrated by garbage authors. I loved Re:Creators but I was already too deep into writing and reading novels to think more about the show than it really is. It's mostly well made with some fluff and I would be interested in what that author worked on after this but not so much so as to actually look it up.
This is Garnt's like 10th time trying to get us to watch Re Creators and I think this video sums it up so well. He addresses the shortcomings but highlights the strongest portions and convinces you that you should care. The show is good, he's right it's a 7 or 8 with unforgettable moments that you remember more of the strong moments because the highs are so high more than you may remember the individual seemless details in a 10/10 masterpiece. Garnt as always a true banger

Hey, guys! I need help from every anime lover out there. When I was a kid I remember my older sister watching an anime about the main protagonist who can switch genders and has red eyes that made people scared of her slash him. The main protagonist has a master who like took her-him in and has three ladies who are like fairies who serve him, he accidentally hit her-him on the head with a bowl (or was it a vase) that was intended for some guy and at some point in the story he gets amnesia. I wanna know what the title of that anime is if anyone knows it. Please! I really need help!
Gigguk, you've won, but at what cost? I paused your video part-way through to go watch the anime. You've gotten one more viewer, but at the cost of watching past 1/4 through the video. (I'll come back after don't worry, if only to update this comment on how right OR WRONG you were)
There's an idea for a future video. Gigguk have recently released a video about Katawa Shoujo game. But there's another story of another non-Japanese indie dating simulator. The game is called Everlasting Summer. And I think that the story of the creation of this indie game is really interesting too. Maybe, some information about this game and its development can be found in English. And, just like Katawa Shoujo. Everlasting Summer has its roots in another imageboard website, though it's not 4chan. Everlasting Summer is available on Steam, by the way, and is translated into English, French, Spanish, Italian and Chinese.
I just finished this anime today, I remember knowing about it thanks to a critic of some other show that mentioned magical girls and used Mamika as example. I also like to draw and found myself touched so deeply by many themes in this story like I never did before, all the good memories of fandoms, fanart, fancharacters, fanon and theories and also the struggle and sometimes darkest part of seeing others with such a great talent sucess while you are left behind was just so raw and charming I just loved it. Needless to say I cried a lot.
I know exactly how Gigguk feels, I'm not sure if many remember this but a personal favourite of mine is deca-dence. I loved the work building and the over aching plot focused around perseverance and redemption. I loved how the two protagonists clash in personality but eventually learn from each other. The action is great and the animation is smooth. It's a real shame it wasn't popular.
I love how gigguk is going heavy on the soundtrack. Because anything by Hiroyuki sawano is going to sound amazing.
@idealicfool To be fair, there isn't a single soundtrack that Hiroyuki Sawano has made that I haven't loved. His work on Attack on Titan, Aldnoah.0 and so on is just fucking awesome
@Chinglish the music just pairs so well with the characters and the story. Gives me goosebumps everytime.
@Y it's not hard to be after listening to them for a while. The moment I heard their work in the Fak/Strange trailer was like yo, this is Gunna be a banger.
I think its ai:lu but id its not, pls correct me
Whats the ost in the end of the video?
i swear any show gigguk talks about suddenly gets 4x more interesting after i watch his video
Well, his videos are analyses, right? He breaks it down and explores what makes it good or bad, what are its strengths and what not. It doesn't suddenly get more interesting, per se, he just lets you see it through another lens, it gives you a fresher look on the show that you might not have had on your own.

This is the one."
And that it was, I don't think I'll ever come across another piece of media I love more than Re:Creators.
My 2nd place will be crowded, but 1st is sitting comfortably.

I think all anime creators need to watch re: creator so they can really understand themselves and what their putting out for us
What I like about Re:Creators is that Altair 100% literally has the power of God and anime on her side.
This man can make anything sound emotional, beautiful and poetic and batshit hilarious at the same time.

Agreed
kinda like the Avengers movie.
Allow me to agree to disagree. I have read " What you wish for with those Murky eyes." And I would rather reread that than watch this.
the whole concept of a character meeting their creator reminded me of satoshi kon's manga, opus. gigguk's made me want to revisit both that manga and this anime

Hey, I liked Cautious Hero. I actually watched it more than once because I enjoyed that show.
And yeah, Re:Creators is awesome.
i swear Garnt has such a way with words in expressing something I've loved and feel the same way towards for the last 5 years. what a video man.

I think one of the later episodes showed actual fanart based on characters appearing in earlier episodes.

I feel like i already wrote comment similar to this under video like this...)

@Weebmatic I understand. But sometimes people want to have a proper essay and have jokes, like his older videos, which are good blend of information and jokes (mostly). These past few times though, it hasn't been the case. I like Scamboli more now anyways.

XD
The situations of 'these situational what ifs and other down time events' to me does sound interesting then action. I don't care for action scenes that much so I only cared about it in certain anime. Animegataris used it's references and elements well I think the ending was weird but still.

@fck peace Ah a fellow Omniscient Reader too! While it's not the best, but It's like a 100x definitely better than the the Solo Leveling *(too overhyped ngl, it's actually just some power-fantasy crap for power-obsessed edgelords to jerk-off into)*
Actually Omniscient Reader is also a similar concept to Re:Creators too *(Concept: Reverse-isekai; Characters from a fictional piece of media getting transported to our world)* but ofcourse the difference is that Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint does it better than Re:Creators.

Re:Creators is a decent author being frustrated by garbage authors. I loved Re:Creators but I was already too deep into writing and reading novels to think more about the show than it really is.
I even liked the dialogue tbh
