It's time to take a closer look at how the "Iron Dragon", came to be known as the "King" and the best jiu-jitsu practitioner on the planet.
Sports
Its so crazy that Ryan is still crushing this hard at age 64
he's 27 wdym
@Dilip Krishna P V no hes 65
@Dilip Krishna P V 🤡
@exp1450
This old man is truly inspirational.
hes 28 dude
95 dide LMFAO
Actually he is 56 but okay.@Sigh Phi Guy
@ps s id ask for a source if i really cared, but everywhere i've looked says "born July 8th, 1995".
It's very inspirational that he gets in there with people 30+ years younger than him and still manages to out speed out grapple them. He is truly a phenom, i hope im that fit when im 64 too
You basically copy pasted that comment
Gordon Ryan is amazing being in the sport for over 20 years people don't realize how effortless he makes the moves and holds what an artist. I do admit when I heard of him and saw him i thought he was in his 50's
Steroids help
Juicing yea
@John Johnson they don't help technique
@cheebawookie if you are under the impression that fighting is all technique then you are a fool. Technique is nothing if you dont have strength, speed, mobility and endurance.
Excellent presentation. What a warrior, the determination to push forward through every possible obstacle is formidable. Gordon Ryan is a living legend.
Gordon is the youngest oldest man to ever grace the Submission world.
Respect to Eddie Bravo for making the tournaments available to highlight individuals like Ryan.
??
And many look at him like crazy man yes he have crazy theory flat 🌎 etc..😂😂
Why? What type of tournament to highlight what?
"highlight individuals" means guys who are underrated and who are up and coming. Eddie bravo looked for talent and made open tourneys.
so yes respect to Eddie for creating tourneys where Ryan could perform and put his name out there for a actual career
What always amazes me about grappling at the highest level is even though you lose, you only lost by a small amount of experience and circumstance. So even watching a fight where your fighter loses is an absolute spectacle to be respected.
Exactly. All it takes is the slightest split second mistake and the fights over.
Also its so clean
And the losers dont make a stink
Smile and congratulate the better athlete
This is completely untrue. He dominated Andre. He outsmarted him by a mile and even though Gordan had his back for a good solid 5-10mins. It was obvious what Gordan wanted to do (get the choke) and Andre couldn't stop it. Don't be a dweeb. There's levels and certainly the level difference was no small amount
@Ilikecommenting my comment got over 100 likes. Your comment gets one dislike. Who is right?
@Ilikecommenting "Don't be a dweeb". Says the biggest mark in the comments.
Anyone who has not done grappling will not know the balance and energy conservation this man has. It looks effortless because he has a flow like no other.
I still wish he would transition into mma. He's huge, has unmatched BJJ skills, and can probably take a punch.
@NooDLES411911 It is certainly and option. I suspect he would do better than Bo Nickel. He is doing fine in grappling though and maybe doesn't want to be punched in the face. I'm with you though. It would be fun.
@Vikotnick I can't blame him I don't like being punched kicked elbowed or kneed either.
@NooDLES411911 I've unfortunately been punched and kicked. Not nice. I don't think I would like to go into an MMA fight. Takes a special person. I would also like to add that your comments have been the nicest I have had on Clip-Share so far. Great stuff.
@NooDLES411911 ya me Too. I Love If Elite bjj Fighters Show their Skill in mma.
I surprisingly haven't followed the professional grappling scene despite it being my favorite discipline within my life, and this was an absolute treat to watch. Reminded me of the old days when I used to grapple hard like that
Really well-done video, you managed to distract me from work for the entirety. Probably the best put together and narrated video I’ve seen in a while. I managed to learn a few new things despite knowing 95% of the info in the video, I was captivated and watched the entirety; again, thank you and very well done!
just same for me :D
What an athlete! Master of his craft.
For those that don't know its easy to break someone's leg pressure wise and the way Gordon puts pressure without breaking these guys legs on the knee bars is truly impressive, you can see where he can go deeper but chooses not to, some guys just extend and pop.
great control over aggressiveness
A lot of people are thoughtless a$$holes. Guys like Gordon Ryan and George St. Pierre are true sportsman, decent human beings and at the top level of skill.
Yeah he manges to control the strength from the roids super well
@Huwhite Cavebeast I really wouldn't call Ryan a decent human being
This guy have proved everything he gotta prove in grappling. It’s nuts to be that dominant in a single sport in an even heavier weight division than him
Proved that steroids help get an athletic advantage??
@Rhett Gerner ADCC does not have anti-doping rules. everyone has the same "advantage" from steroids cause they're all doping lol
Gordon’s desire and drive to be the best is amazing. I hope he figures out his stomach issues so he can keep doing his thing.
What a great sentiment to one of the greatest warriors. Loved it 👍
Not a warrior, just a great grappler
Esse ai vai entra pra historia, respeito 👌
I didn't realize grappling events were this popular. That was a much larger crowd than I would have ever expected.
hes said the only reason he hasnt done mma is because he makes much more doing what he is now
Thata 100% BS. The truth is that his style is not mma friendly and they have anti doping protocols in mma
@cree stee i hear you but thats just it, are you going to choose something that pays less with more restrictions or something that pays more and has less?
@mr. christopher Gordon makes way more from bjj than he ever will in mma
cree stee
Yeah man he could make low 6 figures a year and sign his name image and likeness away.
While receiving brain damage.
Usada? The org that does the special Olympics para Olympics fhe Olympics and ufc.
ahhh. The gold standard.
Love this!! I look forward to another version of this for another athlete. Or even just an updated version in a couple years for Gordon!
Gordon Ryan is an example of someone who wasn’t born in golden cradle and made his way to the top! When you discover earlier in your life what you love, and find the right people to be with, and give your 100% that’s the recipe for success 🙌🏽
+ steroids
Where is the advantage when they all take em?
@marklower007 never said they didn't all take them, but you're kidding yourself if you think you can compete without.
@Joe Yes, vs all the other juicers.
Fair game imo
Really nice to hear someone narrate who can speak well, form articulate elegant sentences, and use technical terminology well. Very good job.
it's like a Behind the Music episode.
100%. So many times I can’t watch videos because the narrative has a bad voice or is just not a good narrator.
100%. So many times I can’t watch videos because the narrative has a bad voice or is just not a good narrator.
thought it was narrated by nick offerman at first :P
so, the average narrator is a caveman?
Its Actually Crazy How Great Gordon is 🤙
Awesome video recapping Gordon's achievements. The scrip and narration was on point as well. You guys definitely deserve a sub! As content creators ourselves, we feel inspired by this video. Looking forward to seeing what you guys have in store for us in the future!
Dude is the definition of 27 going 55 hahahah
That man is a gentleman. He goes so soft when he knows he's got it. A real class act.
Dudes on roids
Even with all the roids you could never reach that level
@EleosGames this is such a piss poor response. you are right, unlike this guy i wasnt tossed into martial arts as a teen. I will never catch up and be a world champ. That doesnt mean he didnt get his ankle foot snapped by another bjj artist who tested clean for peds. We may never be him, doesnt make him anything special.
Ryan has awesome tactics, exciting watching his climb great up load.
It’s amazing to me that he can go 45 minutes and some people in the ufc get tired after 3 minutes of grappling more often than not.
I haven't been actively fighting professionally for years now feel like been there done that seen it all and then I seen Mister Ryan literally has reinvigorated my love for martial arts
To be that much of a beast while battling H. Pylori says a lot. I suffer from H. Pylori and play in high level basketball leagues and tournaments and sometimes the nausea, vomiting, and coughing make it hard to do anything and it can strike at anytime. It can get real bad under intense cardio sometimes, so kudos to him
Plenty of fighters fight with stomach issues. Like ulcers during the fight. It affects one less than youd expect depending on severity and lifestyle can help manage
I had no idea he was 27 years old lmfao. I thought he was some grizzly 40-50 year old veteran. LOL.
Roids will do that sometimes
@Parker Smith hes open about it , as he says everyone in the sport uses them.
@Andrew Taft yh they're not banned, everyone uses and is open about them in this sport so its all good
@Allen Sastre fighting fire with fire.
He is a legend of our time and so young ....my hat goes off to him..
Not a legend dudes just nailing roids😎
Legend in a trash sport
@Rhett Gerner they all on roids( its legal ) so yeah a fucking legend
Respect everyone, fear no one!!! Spoken like a true champ!
fear no one? and pena?
Dude is like a surgeon. Precise, deliberate, and patient.
More like a Pharmacist with his extensive knowledge of prescription PEDs
Lol troll!
4:18 the nuances to how Gordon defends this arm bar is incredible. Watch it in 0.25x speed and note how Gordon uses his shins and forearms to shield his chest and stomach - preventing his opponent from getting his legs involved in the arm bar to create leverage. The opponent is unable to secure any points of attachment or control to Ryan aside from the arm itself, which is not sufficient to prevent the subsequent roll & escape.
Forreal, watch it in 0.25x and pause liberally to take it in. It’s amazing… especially when you consider this was EARLYYY in Gordon’s career and the very beginning chapter of his development into the GOAT. Nowadays he has every single position, every single movement, every possible outcome from every possible angle… all down to a science.
Gordon isn’t even really putting on an athletic performance when he competes anymore… he’s out studying people and out-nerding them with his understanding of physics and human body mechanics. Like he’s doing stuff and creating wedges and angles with hus body that his opponents don’t even understand, let alone know how to defeat it.
Then on top of it, he obviously IS an athletic specimen… *and* he’s taking steroids. Put it all together and I’m not sure the laws of physics, nor our current modern understanding of the human body, allow this man to be defeated in a 1 vs 1 submission competition.
I think Danaher is the perfect guy for Gordan Ryan . Gordon would have had success without him but Danahers teachings in technique and his phylosophy on why attacks will work and getting gordon to totally buy in has taken Gordon to ultimate level . Appreciate it while you can we may never see his like again .
Gota respect so many aspects of his performances he made fluidity of movement next level
I love the coverage of his wins but more so his losses. It shows how hard he’s worked to improve his skill and come back to deal with opponents.
He is a cheater on steroids
@Janinge Kristensen how is he a cheater when the organizations he competes in allow it? make that make sense chief
Well said
Take a loss, take more juice... lmao 🤡
Pena didn't ask the promotion to post-pone the event, Gordon asked Pena if he wanted to and Pena refused.
Also, for the match against Galvao, the rules were "no points before the 10min mark", which is why you can literally see Gordon look at the clock and once past 10minutes, he started scoring points, passing guards, taking the back etc, in less that 2 minutes he scored 12 points.
An inspiration to us all. Simply amazing
What a sportsman and u have never hear od him before. This sport doesn't get the recognition it deserves worldwide. I know, there are people that recognise, but this should be on the level of a boxing heavy weight title. Greetings from Berlin Germany
They would need to stop the drugs and it wouldn’t be nearly as interesting. Imagine the same fight with 50-100 pounds less and couldn’t go past a couple minutes fighting… look at any other major wrestling competition, it’s way less entertaining than guys on drugs submitting each other lol.
This guy could’ve broken a lot of elbows and knees, but was a gentleman.
Everyone in this sport will be in a position where they can snap limbs. Most of them don't do it on purpose, so they won't get a bad rep because then people will start doing the same to you, given the chance. It's simple jujutsu etiquette and nothing that deserves praise.
@Alexandro Hutt UH I remeber a guy not worth mentioning his name but he should have been banned from all events not just the UFC he was the worst I have ever seen . I undertstand using speed and intesity while competing but what was going on there was a bad person trying hurt people for the sake of hurting them . his name starts with a P and if you don't know who he is good for you he needs no recognition .
@Samuel Workman does the name finish with alhares?
@banmadabon Well you are giving that POS way to much recognition for my taste but yes .
Insane video! Very informative, I had no idea Gordon had so many losses. But my God is he good too!
u mean after using the roid or before?
I love that you guys cover so many different forms of combat sport, and bring top notch quality to all of them.
I'm impressed with your video of King Ryan! I'd love to know his whole story. Incredible 😊
It's truly insane. I'm always gonna wonder what he would have looked like if he put that same mind towards MMA.
It's a much different sport when you are getting wrestled and punched and kicked while attempting to bjj an opponent. In BJJ, he can just focus on that specifically. I would expect, if he can handle getting whacked in the head a bit, he could transition just fine to MMA. But he would have to learn how to deal with the Dagestan type grappling as well.
....Also, looks like Ryan is sporting some bulging veins. Probably using PEDs. Would probably test positive if fighting MMA. Not sure how strict bjj tournaments are with testing for PEDs.
@AlexZander That's not how good BJJ athletes would transition to MMA, which is why Gordon hasn't done it. Even Garry trying to do it the right way took several years.
Not to mention Gordon possesses more than just BJJ, he does have the type of high level wrestling that can be used very effectively in MMA. Striking can absolutely be taught.
How can this not be his peak??! I mean holy hell he is a BEAST
Gordon Ryan vs khabib would be fire
@seek for Jannah khabib fan here, but his style fits perfect for mma and not pure grappling. In a grappling match khabib would loose without any chance :)
Incredible. Loved it. Didn't know just grappling only contests existed. Wow.
Wow. In high school, those contests were called wrestling
Top-notch narration, great editing…love how you highlighted “limbs” being attacked…just became a subscriber and can’t wait to check out the rest of the playlist…keep up the great work fellas
He is arrogant, he is obnoxious, he is cocky, but he backs it all up, no one - regardless of how big of a fan, or a hater you are, can say Gordon is all talk and no skill. Truly the most dominant no-gi grappler by far.
Great video guys, earned a sub! Check out other grapplers as well, it'll be great to see something for Craig Jones.
He juices.
@Wylee elPuppo didn’t realize juicing gave you grappling skills.
Put him up against Jon jones
@Richie makes you stronger and faster doesn't it?
@Richie you don't know what juicing does to your stamina your muscle endurance.
Let alone the explosiveness and strength.
Do just a tad bit of research child.
This is not sport ..... This is magic
Wow, what an incredible athlete... I'd never heard of this man until the youtube algorithm suggested to me. Thanks Clip-Share.
He is amazing! Overcoming every obstacle. I just started grappling, I've been into boxing since a child.
You will give up on BJJ within 6mo-1yr at the most
@RyanAttack872 BJJ looks very hard to learn to me, but what makes you say they will give up on it ?
@steve ferry Just based on my experience. Probably 10% or less sticks with it for a year
This kid is absolutely fantastic, big props to his parents
Kids a beast
?
You should cover more athletes that deserve attention from other martial arts and combat sports ! I love this video gets me much more into the sport
"Deserve" is a subjective word.
@Ninja Dildo Show In Gordon Ryan's case everybody sees he deserves it unless they are blind. Subjective yes. However, overwhelmingly 99.9% subjectively see he deserves it.
demetrious johnson next yes pls!!
you should make him an offer then
This is an incredible mini documentary about a legend. Congratulations.
Amazing show!! Never heard of the guy. I’m glad I have now lol. What a life story!!
Something else I REALLY liked about the show, is how you highlighted the moves, so dummies like me can understand haha! True though. Thanks!
Gordon Ryan is a once in a generation superstar 🤩
thanks to the roids
@Matt I’m sure 85% of his competition as well.
@nēdăCFilms’ Muscle Car Time Machine then that means it's a joke of an organization can't clean out cheaters
@Matt that’s been an ongoing battle with all athletics. Hell even a bicyclist was stripped of multiple titles lol. Regardless, they dude is a submission machine. They guy is always two moves ahead.
I couldn't even imagine grappling for 4.5 minutes at Ryan's pace, let alone 40-damn-5 minutes, holy shit!
I have not watched combat sports in awhile but I never heard of this dude but his style fascinates me
I swear, this is the best sport!
Aggressive, physical, technical, and non-violent...mostly.
And great sportsmanship!!!
This was really well done. A very enjoyable watch!
last two three minutes was off on audio / video. Seems like a big miss for such a good production. Content was awesome nevertheless
@Rivvar that wasn't happening to me. Maybe youtube issues?
Put him up against Jon jones
@T K completly different sports lmao , jones was a very good wrestler but would get dominated in a bjj fight , mma jones has a higher chance of winning
This is sick bro you should do a series of mma guys that we dont hear much about but are very skilled ,your narrating is amazing,i usually i dont like narrated videos but yours is perfectly done...bravo sir id be very proud of this video 👏👏👏👏👏👏🤙
Although highly skilled, Ryan falls into the sad truth of all high-level performance athletes. There is a reason why competitive grappling has little to no sanction on drug testing. You take a guy who is already immensely skilled, and then throw in some Test, GH, and EPO, then you have an unstoppable man.
Excellent documentary, thoroughly enjoyed your commentary as well. Ryan is the GOAT but Musumeci is my personal favourite.
Very good job telling the story… the voiceover, B roll, sound design… everything. Well done!
Wow very impressive and by far the best grappler ever. Ryan is always 1 or more steps ahead.
Lost to Danis started taking roids.
Have you ever heard of Damian Maia?
You deserve so many more subs than you have bro! The quality of the content is outstanding! Thanks for all you do.
Pun intended?
@camarofever04 I don't know what you mean 😉
One of the best athletes specific to a sport. Different specimen.
He’s obviously supremely talented at grappling and submissions. But it stinks we haven’t been able to see him in a MMA fight and probably won’t. But I had serious stomach issues as well and I truly feel for the guy. It’s a problem that persists throughout your life and there are times that I’ll get bad stomach issues out of nowhere. Even when taking care of yourself, abstaining from drinking, eating the right foods, taking vitamins and supplements! You can live the healthiest lifestyle but if you have this problem non of that will help.
If he does find a solution or something that helps, PLEASE let the rest of us know!
For real. I'm doing everything seemingly right then boom, a week of stomach pain out of nowhere. Still looking for an explanation.
Can you describe some please? Pain'?
How do they test for it?
@Timothy Alexy They do bloodwork at hospital. Checking patologic micro-organism,staff,coli's and other bacterias, virus, fungus, protozo'es m.m.
a beautiful sport for gentlemen. clean technique , something amazing !! 🔥💪💪
I was thinking of getting into jiujitsu but I was hesitant because I felt like I was too old. Then I saw this grizzled, white haired old man absolutely dominating. He was at the top of his game and he was old enough to be my dad. I thought, if this old dude can do it, so can i.
My inspiration was short lived 😂😂
You should start anyways! I get people in my YT recommendations all the time that are 50 year old white belts. I think BJJ is awesome in that way that you can start late in life if you want to
Gordon Ryan is a beast! Loved watching this and seeing his evolution
Dang it, I have been using this man as a symbol that age can't stop you. I have been telling my son to look at this tremendous grandfather with white hair who destroys his competition. No way he is 27.
He isn't scared of anything but a drug test.
I respect John Danaher, and hopefully he's making enough money from his squad of juice-heads to cover the shame he must feel about them.
Sends a great message to the kids in BJJ. You want to be like the "KING" you need to be fully blasted on gear in your 20's.
Hopefully he makes enough money to stay on gear for life, or at the minimum health insurance to cover the doctor and pharmacy to be healthy for the next 50 years that he might live.
I've watched many amateur athletes hit the gear hard for their 20's...and let me tell you there are consequences when you get older. If you make a bunch of money from it great...if not, expect a rough ride later in life. Not always...but I've seen it happen enough to be cautious kids.
everyone is doping in grappling lmao there are no rules against it. Look at Galvao lmao
Why is this guy not in UFC, with some boxing and training he will be killing it
He's so smooth with his holds and finishes too.
Dude is so great, the only thing his haters can do is say he looks older than he actually is 😂
I've never heard of this man until now and he is truthfully a frightening person.
Jiu Jitsu and Judo are beautiful arts. Amazing. I could watch them for hours.
I don't know how to respect a sport that overlooks PEDs. Just look at the guy. The transformation is literally otherworldly. If he ever comes to MMA, I wonder if he can still perform at that level given USADA rules.
dang, never seen someone at his older age still dominating
Great doc. Big UFC fan, but don’t really follow these bjj tournaments, so this was an interesting peak into that world, and his achievements. Thx!
Never thought grapple sports where so huge. Thank for the killer video.
Very well done. I genuinely enjoyed watching!
My best friend growing up in school who did that exact same move/slap. The one that cyborg did at 15:25 and got disqualified for. But anytime we had a wresting meet or tournament literally every time he would try to snatch the head he would just smack the shit out of them lmao. And let me tell you it did indeed work I think he lost just 1 time in a year haha.
Edit- I stopped to make the original comment above before watching the rest of the video. So I’m watching and then I see he had a match with Jacob couch. Funny story the buddy I’m talking about is best friends with Jacob couch and trains with him at daisy fresh his name is Michael Pixley if you want to check him out!
this is interesting, ive never really looked into this type of competitions, which seems to be way more technical and what appears a war of masters. taking out striking from what i see makes you have to focus totally on technique and i see it here. perhaps ill look at others than just UFC which is mainly all i watch that and ballator, but now gonna look into this.
Gordan Ramsey is really the G.O.A.T
We need this man in the UFC right now 💯
He rather be a big fish in a small pond. Dude has 0 striking and 0 wrestling
You know he’s juiced to the gills, right? If he advanced into the UFC without roids and with no striking or kicking defense or ability, he’d be absolutely destroyed! It wouldn’t even be close!
That was a very well made video. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is a great resume for GR. I watched so much GR recently, but I never knew his history quite like this. Thank you! 😊
Excelente video! Parabéns!
Dude is a beast!! Respect
Jujitsu keeps you young Gordon doesn’t look a day over 45 years old. He’s living proof.
The world would've been delighted to see Rixon in his prime with about 500 victories no blemishes verses the king of grappling n the best jiu jitsu practitioner in the world aka Gordon Ryan 👑
This was so well made and an incredibly enjoyable watch!
That's Mind Blowing!!! The Kid's Gonna Throw The World over His Knee!!!!! Go Get It Brother!!!
You’ve gotta respect his game on the mat at least. He always goes above and beyond to be respectful and not injure people.
Wow! I am 52 and feel like I am lazy. haha. Inspirational indeed. :) A good role model for those young and young at heart.
Excellent presentation, thank you. I enjoyed it very much.
It's impossible to say he has not reached his peak. You don't know that.
This man is a true Warrior...
