  • Published on Mar 27, 2020 veröffentlicht
  • For almost a decade, Usain Bolt was one of the most popular sporting figures in the world. In 2008, Bolt broke his first world record in the 100 meters during the Olympics, and soon after, he broke the 200 meter world record with a time of 19.30 seconds. The following year, Bolt struck again by breaking his own 100 and 200 meter world records (9.58 seconds and 19.19 seconds respectively). In just 2 short years, Bolt rewrote the record books, however his career was far from over.
Following this early success, Bolt remained the best sprinter in the world for close to a decade, but which moment made Usain Bolt the absolute G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time)?
In this video, we'll break down our pick for the moment that made Usain Bolt the undisputed GOAT of sprinting.

@Project DX When you are born with natural gifts 23 is not 'early'. What you have to understand is that most sprinters are not 'designed' to run that fast and need years and years of development, conditioning, coaching. Also every individual has their own different physical peaks. Bolt was born a sprinter and clearly did not need quite as many years of development as others. Once you reach those incredible heights- it i almost impossible to improve on that. Also I'm sure he was still quicker than most right up to his late 20's, so your argument is rather pointless.

Jamie Gormer 2 months ago +1

@Project DXhis actual body type ain't the norm for a 100m sprinter ,slowed down from a front view ,his running style is very awkward, which possibly put more stress on his joints ,causing injuries,
There's several sports where there has been ,young sportsman who have peaked ,in early 20s where the norm is 28-32 ,
One being Mike Tyson ,who was also not built like any other heavyweight ,at 6ft and 16.5 stone very short reach
Football Michael Owen ,peaked early 20s , electric speed ,hit by bad injuries, with muscle and ligament tears ,

I ain’t ever heard somebody say, they watched the Olympics for your Phelps man.
      Bolt is that guy.
The face of the Olympics changed with arrival of this man.
Put Phelps in any place apart from the USA and he’s just your average white man, can’t say the same for Bolt tho.

    • Speedy
      Speedy 4 months ago

@NiKlaus Salvatore mate, Michael Phelps has 28 Olympic medals. 23 of them are Gold. Usain Bolt has 8 Olympic gold medals. Phelps has almost 3x the gold medals compared to Usain Bolt, and 3 1/2 the amount of Olympic medals Usain Bolt has. And also, shut up with ur “dilusional America” stuff, because we are dominating the Olympics, with the most medals earned. We have 2980 medals, while second place, UK, has approx. 950. And don’t forget how we are one of, if not, the most powerful country in the world.

Honestly, I think one of the things that put the icing on the cake of Bolt being the GOAT is how he treated Justin Gatlin when Gatlin won against him at Bolt's last 100m race in 2017. Bolt accepted defeat graciously and stood up for Gatlin against all the boos. And also against that reporter's ridiculous question at the post race panel.

Bolt is so fast, his shadow is still trying to find him after all these years. Usain is so fast, cheetahs make their cubs watch his videos for training. Bolt is so fast, the start of the race sounds like two starting guns went off, and Usain catches up to the bullet. Bolt is so fast, even the pixels in the pictures from the camera are blurred. Usain once challenged The Flash to a race around the earth years ago, and The Flash is still two laps behind. When Bolt runs, the weather patterns start changing in that region, and tornadoes pop up.

Bolt is so fast, that he's not a goat, he's a bull, bolt is so fast, that the speed of the sun going around the galaxy is 8x slower than him, bolt is so fast, that if he ran forever, his body couldn't catch up, and he would live forever, bolt is so fast, that if he ran from Canada to America with his eyes closed, his eyes would be open, bolt is so fast, that when he runs, the earth goes around backward like he's balancing on a ball, bolt is so fast, that he didn't just win the world record, he won the omniversal record, the only reason that bolt wasn't that fast in the race, was because he was taking snake brakes every 0.0001 zeptoseconds.

    • breaks
      breaks 3 months ago

@Amala nope average height /compact people have better take offs , but as the race progresses tall people have the upper hand cos of the long strides, which is why bolt can overtake athletes near the finish line same as Carl Lewis has a rubbish take off , an overtakes people within 5-10m it's not common in average height people doing that to someone way taller than them.

Bolts height has him at a disadvantage, so him beating them at 6'5 is even more impressive than someone at average height, he has to move his heavier and taller body against smaller, more lightweight and aerodynamic competitors, so him flying past them is even more impressive than it seems. That's why he looks like he's only jogging.

Jamaicans are like that when they know they’ve got the prize in sight. Net ones to waste an opportunity to humble critics in the most feisty and audacious way possible (mek dem look small) not so much rivals, they deeply respect other competitors, unless rivals are dissing critics. As my mum used to say after watching Bolt win a race ‘im a show off, an a gwarn like im win already wid im boasty self’ then follows it with a proud chuckle 😂

LoL Baumgartner doesn't need to run 27mph...lol
Once you've flown past the speed of the very sound your making at Mach 1+ or 1,346 kph one could hardly be arsed to dash a puny hundred yards across flat rubber just to receive your approval...LoLL
On the other hand if Usain were to pull off a world-record complex and demanding deed of death defying valour like that of Felix Baumgartner...well that would make him a veritable hero... Ah but alas...LoLLL
Have you ever wondered why such a niche sport as the flat rubber dash has became such a media-hyped quasi-religion?
While so many other far more significant sports and spectacles are quietly tucked away and all but ignored by the so-called ""free"" media.
Ya think there could be a cultural and psy-ops agenda involved?
Is it all just random chance?
Ever heard of the Bread and Games method?

I watched that world record run in 2008 and I said it then and I still say it today. He pulled up probably two steps to soon in that run or that record would probably be even more impressive. If he would have ran his hardest through that line instead of to it, we would probably be looking at a record that could never be touched. Unfortunately I feel that just the right guy will come along in the next 5 to 10 years and beat that record and people will look back at how he pulled up just before the finish line and wonder what if.

Always thought 2012 made him the GOAT when he beat the star studded 2012 100m lineup, won 200, and anchored the 4x100 for a world record and even the announcers that year were calling him the GOAT, but, seeing how he ALMOST missed the final and once he got to the final wasn’t even the favorite and still came out ON TOP seals it for me.

The fact that Bolt almost always slowed down at the finish line to do a taunt or a celebration is just insane. If he wouldn't have done that and just stayed focused, his times would have been even faster (if only by a fraction of a second). Yet he did those celebrations and still won virtually all of his victories in an extremely decisive manner. That was what I noticed the most about Bolt.

@Stian Jorge Jarnæss if you look at it, physically bolt is just different. He is a tall sprinter capable of using his long strides to out pace all his rivals. He is naturally fast my guy. He's exactly what these records show, an abnormality in physique and speed. 100m is one of the most vetted sports in track and field, that along with Usain bolt being the most tested athlete in that sport gives less room for using banned substances than Armstrong and any other athlete you can think of.

Bolt is the best, so far. There's no one who can match his performance, today, he's the best ever to run the 100 and 200mts.
However, science says that, there will be a point, when someone will break his records, specially his 100mts. record. Science says that the limit time performance for a human at the 100mts. is of 09.27. Bolt's current record is of 09.58.

He's not even bad at all. I don't blame him for saying he would win, he had pretty good reason to believe in himself, he had outrun Bolt all season. But you what they say, pride cometh before the fall.

Gatlin stumbled 10 meters before the finish line. It slowed him down. Makes you wonder if he could beat Bolt if it weren't for his stumble.

Bolt is the fastest 100m and 200m because of his height 6f5i and his smooth running make him the top most sprinter

Please, just remember his fastest 100 meters time, 9.58, was not supposed to happed for another 30 years according to some scientist tells you that to even compare another sprinter to Bolt is a joke. Notice since he retired the runners in the 100 meters or the 200 meters aren't even coming close to the times he ran.
