You may notice a strange edit at the 14:18 mark. That's because I had to remove a tiny section of video as a result of FC Barcelona claiming all the monetisation on this video, and I was forced to remove a tiny clip of Messi scoring his first goal.
Messi is god to 35% of worlds population.
who is mark?
As an Australian, I would very much enjoy the experience of internet
@Logan Wolfram ahh ok that makes sense lol is the ping rate dependant on how fast the emu can run?
@Chaz Martin they use an emu courier network, or so I hear
How you send this comment if u didnt have internet lol
You'd have to point the antenna down though, due to Australia being upside down
@maxsimes The internet cable connecting to Australia flips upside down to correct for it.
I love how this video makes it seem like we're disapointed in the current technology that allows us to send a message from the other side of the planet and back twice during an average blink.
I get lag when playing with koreans + ratio + bad ping
As a gamer in a developing country I AM DISSAPOINTED
I NEED LATENCY LESS THAN THE TIME OF HALF A BLINK
@Werner Bloem Yeah sure, at USD100/mth, requiring 100w continuous power, it's just dandy for the average Joe making USD1/day.
Best Electic vehicle is are as follows:-
1300 kg
1300 watts
130 kms in 1:1 ratio of rpm 😎
Meaning Tesla range have to be over 13,000 kms in single charge in 1:1 rpm and 24,000 kms and above in single charge with a transmission system with 1:13 rpm ratio mean 1 rpm of motor 13 rpm of wheels in middle level 1:1 in Torque mode 13:1 mean motor 13 rpm wheels 1 😇
Elon musk cars have over 500 to 600 miles range 😏
Change rpm to 1:1 can give us over 9x higher range which is over 4500 to 5400 miles per charge and I m not talking about using and transmission system which easily boosts the range of any Tesla cars over 13,000 to 24,000 miles in single charge 😏
But they r not going to do it cuz it’s very low profitable business and elon musk wants only money money money 😂
That’s y he is not supporting hydrogen cuz it’s even less money money money 🤣
@Werner Bloem There are plenty of places in Wyoming, the Dakotas etc. remote locations which don`t have internet service. So I hear.
All this so Musk can get great pings playing online games while he travels the world doing business.
Impressive problem solving...

Elon Musk is a puppet for the elites families, military industrial complex and secret societies. He pushes the fake space agenda with fake-x, the green agenda with solar city and Tesla, underground tunnels agenda with boring company, the AI agenda with Neuralink, the digital currency agenda with Paypal, and 5g agenda with starlink satellites.
@nivalius No, they need to find a way to keep this out telescopes. This will ruin astronomy all together.
I am watching this video via Starlink. It's safe to say this has been a massive success. It's changed my life.
Brian, this is a truly fine presentation. Intelligent, logical, well paced, and clear. Also free of annoying 'music'. Thank you.
I was alone in a dark forest when I saw these launching in the sky a few days ago. I figured there was probably a simple explanation but that didn’t stop me from freaking out a little. Never heard of Starlink but my spy phone knew I was subscribed to this channel and wanted to know what the strange train of lights were. 😁
SpaceX designs their own satelites.
SpaceX makes their own satelites.
SpaceX has their own rockets.
SpaceX puts their satellite in orbit themselves.
SpaceX recovers their rocket after each launch.
Competitors are screwed.
@Jmstraubgamer At that time it wasn’t.
@Bing Si Take your pill.
Oh ok
@ASA studios That does nothing for radio astronomy.
@Lone Star it's right in the video. spacex has added tech to dodge incoming space debris, and also deorbiting themselves at their end of life
I have a feeling that having so many satellites in orbit might cause us problems in the future.
they will cause multiples problems
Any system whether it's terrestrial or satellite based has a finite bandwidth capacity per square mile/kilometer in relation to the number of users. Terrestrial broadband can be easily expanded by installing more fiber lines next to each other, which takes up relatively little space. However, there's a limited number of satellites that can be in orbit within safe distance from each other even with thousands of them in a lattice formation. There's a theoretical and practical limit to the number of users which can be served with adequate speeds within each square mile/kilometer on Earth even with the maximum satellite density possible.
Imagine dense cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, once millions of users are sharing a limited bandwidth within a small relatively geographic area, speeds and latency will start degrading rather quickly. Unfortunately there's a limited number of satellites which can be above any large city at any given time, limiting the total data throughput. It's going to be a real technical challenge for Staflink or any other satellite provider to provide acceptable data service over densely populated areas.
Ironically with terrestrial internet, sparsely populated areas usually have poor speeds/latency usually due to lack of options and infrastructure, but with Starlink it's the opposite, in sparsely populated areas there's less load on the system therefore better data service.
They are all equipped with ion thrusters and are in low earth orbit. IE if everything goes tits up, everything will clear up in a year or 2.
Another advantage that you guys forgot is the interference due to big solid objects like moutains... That would mean that even on a journey to mt everest, we could stream. Even in the center of Pacific Ocean. Also, sky would be beautiful at night
Yet another great video mate, you've explained this system perfectly so we can all understand it. Brilliant job!!!!
I love how Elon thinks:
"hmm... we don't have enough money to solve this problem for humanity"
"let's solve another problem for humanity to make some money!"
I do not no if Elon is in a fight for people or not I am skeptical however being a capitalist is a good thing because if that is the reason for this that it is money then it precludes it from evil you should wish this as well. One more thing to add problems for humanity are not left to the ones that hold all the wealth it is left to all. If you feel strongly enough about the problem show Elon you will do the work just maybe he will help fund you in your endeavor.
And make 2 new ones too nice fucking over astronomer and put more stuff up there and sure that fact they can dodge each other is cool I don't think one will crash and shot gun itself into space and who know what

Just an update, the speed of light doesn't change regardless of the medium. Light speed is constant, hence "C". However, it changes direction to maintain its speed within a medium, which is why it appears to take longer in different mediums.
This could replace cable internet, but it could also compliment it. More channels for communication are always a good thing.
If SpaceX ever goes public. I’m going all-in with every dime I have.
@SmashDog so never lmao
He said he will go public with it after the Mars thing is achieved
I will dump my life savings on the IPO. However this is never going to happen cause Elon Musk specifically kept SpaceX private because he does not want a board of directors or investors dictating what he does with his vision for a Mars future.
I’m going all in on it, Cha-Ching.
Thank you for your detailed and simplified video.
This is enough for understanding the Mission and vision of Starlink and the era of internet.
You are the people doing really good things via Clip-Share!
good video. it would be nice to get more info on the bandwidth capabilities of the Starlink solution

Yulia Kubenskii What?
@D Jaquith Dude this is just fact, stop denying truth.
This is thing you can search up in 5 seconds.
Those things you say are mostly said by non reliable articles that just care for money, controversy = views = money. Who is gullible here?
Stop lying to yourself for your beliefs.
@Imię Nazwisko .. If you're that gullible as to who Elon Musk is then I'm here in Florida and I got some great swamp land for sale. 😆😉
Love your work. Like how you stick to the topic and avoid dumb jokes. And your pace is fun to listen to. I am coming out as a fan.
Exactly the video I was looking for! Thanks for the great quality of your work!
Thank you! I was looking for some of the logistics in space sat comms and this explained quite abit as to the business value of Starlink.
Some weeks ago my aunt saw some satellites and she didn't know what all those lights were. After a quick google search i found out about the starlink project. Its so inspiring to see technology develop like this : )
Quick questions on its application on financial market trading: Starlink is not recommending installed in population-densed areas because of the per satellite capacity. The communication between NYC and London might not be a ideal case solved by Starlink. So that first version of Starlink can't meet that need and I found it hard to solve that need from my knowledge. How do you guys see the Starlink evolving in the future that can be applied to these area? (some ideas like, increasing the per satellite bandwidth, specific/exclusive use satellite connecting the financial markets) Also any ideas about the feasibility?
When you're short on cash and need to do a side quest to progress the main story
🤣
Huh?
Thats tesla
@operator0 Another country, I am sure that if all things all into space, he'll just move to another Planet.
@operator0 oligarchs already started to panic after only a year of distribution issues due to covid
With some oil money now being used to buy shares in companies like epic games
5:00 Minor correction: The wavelength of light should be smaller in glass. Also when you play your animation, the light should oscillate at the same frequency.
I saw starlink once going across the sky...was like 30 satellites you could see at once. I can not imagine when the grid is down and how bad it will pollute the sky for astronomy. Also this will really suck for when storms come through your area just like when you are watching satellite TV...
Its already being used by the us military in some training exercises. The ability to transmit information with such speed to troops and aircraft/equipment is invaluable.
Nicely done video explains the technical and business aspects of Starlink.
This will be nice, especially in 20 years when it reaches its full potential.
This was very well done. I had no idea of everything StarLink involved. Thanks!
@Miat Mark my words.
The whole thing is highly suspect.
@I Z equivalent to the speed of one x-rays.
No mention of OneWeb? :(
3.6 ms, not great not terrible
@memberwhen Either that or he wanted to confirm any suspicions he had
Here's an idea: A betting pool for how the first Starlink satellite crash might unfold. Some may make placements based on anything from timing and duration, to others like chaincrash combo or minority of actual damage.
Who knows, it might be so far in the future that it is insignificant or maybe devastating, but it's all open, even to never occur while any of the bet placers are alive.
What a project. If successful it will be very impressive. I am slightly skeptical.
''It's already so hard to launch anything into the air because of the weather.''
SpaceX: How about we put 10.000 satalites into the earths orbit.
@Sanjay Swain I agree, a proposed 42k satellites all needing replacement every 5 years, it will require so many launches that it will be a financial and ecological disaster. Not to mention the pollution of the sky for terrestrial astronomy. All for slightly less latency. C'mon.
@anguita take it eassy on him. He is "special"
@ViralHub starlink will generate the Kessler syndrome and it does not matter that they have full control of their satellites, they can collide with any other satellite, it can be Russian, Chinese, American, etc. starlink is another stupid idea from elon musk, just like hyperloop
I have a latency of 1,000+ ms and I am about 30-45 minutes east of Lansing in Michigan. Internet speeds during the day are about .5-10 Kb/s. It is a lot higher during like 3:30 a.m.-4:00 a.m. but I am never awake at those times, and the latency then is still just as bad, making playing Multiplayer on video games almost unplayable. But with starlink, my internet speeds will be much faster and I can NOT wait for it to be available for where I live!!
5:00 Normally you would compare waves with equal frequencies. So they should have the same number of peaks and troughs, and the one going through glass should have a 47% shorter wavelength.
They called it Starlink, because Sky Net was taken.

Will cell phones adapt some sort of technology that could connect ? Like what if your lost in the middle of the ocean on a life boat ? And all you had was a cell phone. It would make a rescue that much easier if we were able to connect with our phones. I have had a few instances where I got lost on a remote island and then lost data signal.
This will be great for signal during a major emergency like an earthquake or landslide, etc. Rescue teams will be able to communicate and react instantly anywhere globally.
I have always maintained that full self driving would still need a ATC equivalent and it is this that would benefit from starlink massively
Explained so accurately ! Impressive
"Starlink promises to give SpaceX a budget that dwarfs NASA's" is my key takeaway.
@Yu Denton
So my take is, even though I'm in an urban area, it's possible to be a subscriber as long as the area is not near saturation.

@Nicky Moloney Somehow Elon Musk bags the markets. Cars, rockets, batteries and now broadband - to say nothing of his company being the biggest provider of solar electricity. Tunnelling doesn't seem to have 'taken off' yet and no doubt he has other 'stuff' in the pipeline. He will rule the world? Tks for your reply.
@David Ogawa The technical limitation is the population density. Each satellite only has a limited amount of bandwidth. To a lesser extent, the population density also makes it harder for the phased array antenna to lock on to the signal.
I love that you use references, so so helpful!
Would the fact that time goes by slower on earth because of gravity’s effect on spacetime have much of a change on latency? I know they need to account for this time change in all satellites to keep track of position and I know it’s especially important for GPS.
This is cool. I've had satellite internet before, and it had worse latency than dial-up. And don't forget the data caps! So if Elon's company can get their satellite internet network running better than an optical cable network, I'll be extremely impressed.
I live out in the boonies and my download is around 150 KB/s on a good day. AT&T is using antiquated equipment in the area that they bought out from a ISP and manufacturer and none of their modern equipment is compatible, so no upgrades unless they want to shell out the big bucks. Seeing that this is going the way that it is after watching the launch today, I'm glad to see that either AT&T will have to step up their game in the area, or face losing thousands of customers to this lovely prospect.
I like being able to get away from connectivity and I fear that this is going to remove that ability to be "disconnected" when we want to be. Sure its great that countries without connectivity want and deserve to be connected and like us, when we discovered it we were excited and in awe of its abilities but as it has grown and developed and become more common place, we wish to be disconnected more least for a time.
I see the end of truly being FREE from the intrusions of the outside world on our lives and the connectivity of "the boss" when we want tranquillity and peace.
This video was so fantastic. I can't imagine how much work it was to put all of this together!! Well done and thank you!
Chad Markley FACTS
@Andrew Suhady dont feed the troll, this guy has been replying to comments all over spreading his belief
@Killumination i could use u as a blueprint to build idiots and that'll be one more amazing accomplishment
Yeah all the utter BS collected in this one is pretty amazing accomplishment...
As an Irish person, it's much easier to understand you at 1.25x 😂 incredible video
This is brilliant. I am not sure about electric cars, but Elon is changing the world with Starlink project.
Just got my Starlink. Works as advertised. Very fast!
The low latency won't hold up to real life doings. Conversations rates are ignored and assumed that somehow all the satellites know everything instantly and yes 4 links are really good to track stuff but this won't happen instantly there will be a delay and im sure that it will take just as long in terms of latency. Also we didn't consider how many users there can be with what bandwidth since this will be a hefty factor.
bruh.
this would make internet at sea possible at very cheap compared to the outrageouse prices nowadays. this is the dream. i hope they can do it
So FC Barcelona has claimed the money from this entire 16 minute video about a satellite constellation because of a 10 second clip of their team. Clip-Share your system is broken. We have set up our own streaming platform to help counteract this bullshit: www.watchnebula.com
good luck!
Claims are usually automated, you should dispute it, it'll likely go through.
this is just cable tv rebranded.
Surely youtube did it on its own which sucks
Very well explained. Thank you. And wow!
The question I kinda have with this decision is that, although it will allow access to people in developing nations and such, wouldn't the problem first be the citizens not having the actual technology to access the internet?
No, not really; (some) people in Africa and Southeast Asia have cel phones. Research M-PESA (I learned about it in the book _Matchmakers_ ). A laptop + a Starlink antenna would mean internet access anywhere between the arctic & antarctic circles.
Is it just me or does anyone else get totally lost when he dives into the small details of how this is supposed to actually work 🤣
I’m not gonna lie.. it would be awesome to have this system, but it would be such a massive hit to the astronomy world, with long exposure telescopes suddenly getting all these lines from the satellites and stuff.
That just means we should rush the colonization of the moon to put all astronomy equipment there.
My parents got starlink and it is amazing so far! They are in an area that is hard to get internet (mountains) and they now have faster internet than I do and I'm in a city!
This might be my favorite Clip-Share video so far in 7 years of using the website. Incredible story and detail.
aether44j What...?
Check out Emplemon
exactly what i was thinking to myself
wow. Then you need to dig deeper man. I find a least 6 new favorites every year.
I liked seeing the number @ 5:45 By international agreement the speed of light in a vacuum is defined exactly as 299792458 meters per second ( note +/- 0 m/s )
I wonder If will future space missions be able to pass-through so many Satellites without hit some of them
A more connected world means more memes, and that's good.
Musk is amazing, not only has he a lot of money, he has a lot of vision. It is people like him that take the world forwards.
"Star Link" sound like a pretty good hint. Love the videos, I watch them in the morning to motivate myself.
SpaceX Executive: "We need more funding"
Elson Musk: "Let's turn the Global Stock Exchange into our Nr1 Client!"
Musk you mad lad.
@Jacqueline Antonio Honestly? Kinda crummy. Lots of really high expectations and having Dad metaphorically over your head all the time, even if you move away.
This evil shit is made for machines not for humanity.
Waxon Junglist ok boomer
Starlink sounds good but have we considered if the latency will increase due to weather conditions?
The latency can't really increase due to weather conditions.
I'm pretty sure he built this to target mostly the upper class of today's economy because he knows they will definetly buy it at such a low cost. But I'm alright with it as long as he uses the revenue for the starship and other falcon projects
are there any plans to use a hall thruster, if so w/ a x3 how long would be the trip
Talking in Mega terms, what will be the speed of the Starlink Service? any ideas?
Imagine when the starlink becomes available to everyone and the internet is very good and still saying im lagging
This video was so well done. One of your best and that's saying a lot.
Engineering wise, definitely. The rest (financial projections; who the network is intended for) just exagerated PR nonsense.
brilliant video, thank you for taking the time to make such video.
I have a feeling this will blow a hole in the cyber pirating glass ceiling, but a necessary step to connect everyone into the network.
I'm sure it would also help with Tesla's FSD system.
While the receivers may be out of reach of individuals in some low income areas, it’s likely a village could raise enough for one, and add routers and possibly repeaters. At the very least they could walk to center of town and connect to WiFi.
I can’t wait for the announcement when Starlink will go public. I need to save up my money now for this. This is a game changer.
@Mist666 No it's not. They only have 900 satellites in orbit of the 12,000 approved. They are only in the beta testing phase. I live in Texas and there is no beta testing ready in my area, so I am still waiting. It is not ready for an IPO. It won't be until they have at least 4,000 satellites up where they can provide service to most of America.
It is already public.
So you're telling me they launch 7518 satellites so I can play CSGO with my friends over sea? Im sold
they are legends
Pfft he's not stopping at 7,500! He just put in to launch another 30,000 or so
I never played Csgo now I want to
ELON is better than God. TESLA and Tesla shareholders will Rule Earth and Mars. Rest and their family will be Our Slaves!! ELON is Einstein, Edison, and Jesus combined. He at least deserves Five Nobel Prizes. Just worship Elon instead of other silly god!!
I think the best part about this is having the availability of high speed network being available everywhere you go around the world
Isn’t that the only part
I hope they open it up to everyone else. I wouldn't mind paying the crazy price I pay for Comcast internet if the service was better. Would love a more consistent and lower ping.
One thing that this video doesn't cover is how the weather might negatively impact latency. For instance, how would a storm between the base station and the satellite constellation impact the latency? You might get packet loss (which require retransmission), lower bandwidth, and possibly no connection at all. In these cases an optic cable connection might be more reliable. I'd be interested to learn about these worst case scenarios.
That's right. I'm also interested in what will happen to the more reliable optic cables.
Will cable be phased out for civilian use? Will people be forced to use Starlink?
Another country could nudge or knock the satellites out of orbit, set up their own "Starlink" network, and/or block & intercept relays between satellites. Starlink is more vulnerable and costly than cable.
I hope this dosnt fail, so we in Germany can finally access the internet regularely too
Seems the latency is ok, what about the throughput?
I wanna see AT&T and Comcast finally burn in front of my eyes
🤣 Facts bro
@MC273 No I don't care about those two brands, I would just like me and my future children to be able to see the stars in the night sky.
@TheYeetus14 Hey look an AT&T + Comcast lover
I want to see all of the Starlink satellites explode in front of my eyes.
@Niranjan R yes, they suck.
Rocketlab is already doing this! Good to see spacex wants to take away what a New Zealand company already is doing!
Is there any protection against other space anomalies such as solar flares or other large burst from the sun
Everything about StarLink from its funding to its eventual goals is stunning. Elon is truly a genius and a well-rounded genius at that.
Has anyone stopped to think of how much light pollution these will cause and how it will effect stargazing? Also how about when one of them goes out and comes back into our atmosphere and crashes into something?
I once saw a train of Starlink satellites. I didnt know what they were at the time. I was out viewing Venus w my telescope. I was showing my mom when they flew over. We were both confused. Pretty wak
As I'm watching I'm realizing he's mentioning new tech over new tech over new tech and I realize this required a huge team to put together. Good job
Also SpaceX gets "free" tests on their falcon rockets, they can tweak some things and see the results without looking for a customer.
I love that you provide references. Really good videos. Thanks.
