The selfie cam on the z fold main display is perfectly fine for video calls. Video call quality is already low, the camera quality does not make it any worse. Please, don't make me deal with a permanent punch hole in my next z fold because you guys don't feel like flipping your phone around or you forgot there's another selfie camera on the cover display.
I am so, so so happy that you guys talked about how it takes you a few seconds to read an analog clock, because that is some thing I have secretly felt so guilty about. Lol. I thought that every other adult in the world could instantly look at the clock, and know within a fraction of a second what time it was, and I was the only dumb dumb that takes 2 to 3 seconds to really get the time.
Analog clocks are great for knowing the relative time, i.e. how long till the top of the hour, but yeah there’s definitely latency when figuring out the exact time.
I decided to go with an s22 ultra to replace my note 9 but I'm seriously considering going with a foldable when I upgrade next. The size is perfect, just hope all the kinks are worked out within the next few years.
I've been using the S22 Ultra since launch. Had a Fold 3 from launch through work, now a Fold 4 Fold 4 can 100% replace the S22 Ultra with the exception of camera. Main sensor is great, but zoom and ultrawide can't compare. Otherwise it's fantastic, and the battery life is better than my S22 (Exynos)
Love that your Podcasts are not Extended/Deleted scene/Movie BS experiences. Good quality. Straight to it. Not 3+ plus hours. Much love guys! Keep up the excellent work!
If I remember correctly Google is using Samsung folding tech as part of the deal they made to make the companies more synergistic instead of competitive.
Look at some of the cases for the pixel watch on Amazon tho. There are some that make it look like a G-Shock. Because of the form factor it's very customizable. I might get one cause it's on sale and I have a Google credit. I only use my smartwatch as a timer for work tho so 🤷🏽😂
I love my Galaxy Watch 4. I get 36 Hours out of it with 2 hours of Workout. No AOD. Coming to the watch faces, I really love the Pixel Watch's Concentric Faces one, its quite hypnotic. I have the same one as Andrew's but the colors are default one.
I have a question for you all: What if Google makes it so that you could use the dock for the incoming Pixel Tablet, as also a dock for the rumored foldable phone; essentially so that you could, in theory, do Facetime, er, Meet calls with friends & family, or maybe it turns into a makeshift mini-Home? Hope I explained it right.
22:25 I am probably one of very few who think this way, but since the only reason we have the camera bumps is because the cameras have to have more depth compared to the rest of the components, can we go for thicker phones so that we wouldn't have the bumps? I guess it will be too big for a pocket, but we, older generations, were ok with the first Gameboy. I will have to leave it to designers to make it look pretty, but I think there is a potential for those kinds of phones.
39:15 The screen is sapphire so super scratch resistant. I've had mine since launch and I have no scratches at all. Can't say the same about previous glass models.
I like the format of this ′′Pixel Fold′′ Just by changing the orientation of the fold, Google finds itself with a conventionally usable exterior screen, and an interior screen equal in display area to that of the Fold 4, by the way, I've never understood why Samsung doesn't orient its Folds in this direction 🤔 On the other hand, $1800 for a ′′Pixel Fold′′ 1st generation when at the time of its release the Fold 4 in new will surely cost less than $1300 😳, it will surely be made of titanium with ceramic, waterproof, 16 gigs of ram, 512G of internal memory with the management of a pencil and 5 years minimum of guaranteed Android updates 🤔
At the moment I'm not a huge fan of the form factor of most folding phones and I'm been thinking a lot about what I would actually be interested in and here it is: a top spec phone is the same form factor as the Samsung Z Flip series but about 1.5 times the size. That would still fit in my pocket (just) but then give me a huge screen in the right format when opening it up (not a fan of the square-ish tablet-ish screen you end up with on most foldables today). 😎
One thing to note about rumors and not believing them v. believing them -- Jon Prosser has missed some things (apple watch 8 lol), yes. But he is very accurate with Google products, especially as of late.
from a durability perspective it is the most vulnerable and it has no google services but the one foldable design I would willing to splurge on is the Huawei mate XS 2, especially since folded it is the closest as a folded foldable can be to the thickness of a normal non foldable smartphone
There is one foldable with a in screen fingerprint on both screens. but obviously not in the US Also this will not be the size of the Find N, its gonna be taller. The outer screen of the Pixel Fold is gonna be taller because of the bezels on the inner screen
Kind of zero point buying a Galaxy Fold as new when the prices drop by a grand when you "walk out the store". Seen Fold 3s for like $500-ish, maybe 700 if you want it mint.
I returned my 7 pro after a few hours of using it lol. One UI just has so many nice features that aren't in stock android. Not to mention front video quality is absolute dogshit in Duo and Whatsapp
Pixel fold will 186,000% be my next phone. Been wanting a foldable but nowhere near enough to give Scamscum any money, and I adore my Pixel 6. Sign. Me. Up!
It is not out of the question to have an underdisplay fingerprint reader on the front screen that would then be technically considered on the back of the phone like the old Pixel 5.
Depending on your utility you can end up with a zero dollar power bill with no batteries and solar, where I live we have net billing so batteries don't make sense, just use the grid as a giant battery
Oh my god I had a core memory unlocked moment almost at the EXACT same time as Adam because I totally used Bonzi Buddy at some point and completely forgot about it.
Thanks for sharing about about Solar power. But please when you can, please share more details, especially battery capacity, installation and maintenance and most importantly return on investment
so these tech guys and studio people are completely out of touch with outside world, or outside the US markets apparently, 26:52 since the Vivo x fold has been out since April/22/2022 and it dose have an under display finger print sensor under both screens, and that has completely gone under their radar some how, I mean look I get it if it was some knockoff brand trying to copy samsung or something but the fold phones are not that many, disappointed.
If the Fold5 moved the camera module to the left side (along the hinge) it would be perfect. When my fold 3 is unfolded I hold it via the back (not the outside screen side due to finger prints) but I kind of crab my fingers to not touch the cameras. Move the module to the left side and boom. Perfect balance. Taking photos would be easy and no finger prints on camera or outer screen.
8:40 it's more compelling to look at a cool car that you *MIGHT* someday be able to afford (Lucid), rather than look at a car you'll *never* be able to afford (Ferrari).
I remember when Apple launched its last phone and announced "Dynamic Island" as a feature and Marques said he'd never use that phrase again. Since then the only person I've heard bring up the phrase is him. 22:00
You know what’s cooler than a luxury 150k EV no one can afford, an ok EV that 99% of people can afford. It’s so irritating and frustrating seeing all these super expensive EV’s but knowing I’ll literally never afford it
Foldables are the solution to the “too big phone to use in one hand but want a bigger screen for content” problem. I think there are drawbacks in terms of device durability…those extra moving parts will probably never be as durable as just a rectangle. But if we are just going to live in a world where we upgrade phones ever 3 years, the phone doesn’t have to be built to last a lifetime I guess The next issue is the “screen crease” issue. If they can solve that then I’ll be pretty envious because I am pretty happy in my Apple ecosystem. I just use the 13 mini and that is fine for me, but if Apple did a foldable iPhone, that might drive me to upgrade. Which is significant because otherwise, I plan to hold onto this phone until it doesn’t get OS updates anymore or a new small iPhone option is released, which as of now seems uncertain at best.
@Freak80MC I’m not saying the phones will break like glass, just that by the way the universe works, 1-to-1, the thing with more moving parts will last less long. Like I said, the intended use-life is probably shorter than the typical usable life of the product, so that makes it kind of a nonissue, but still. It isn’t ideal that the product line scales in fragility with price. It would be better if the more expensive options lasted longer and with less risk of breaking
I feel like the "moving parts break faster" thing is overblown, coming from someone who has used a phone with a pop up camera for 2 years now and it's still going strong.
Hey Marques, I also have the Pixel 7 Pro. I see that you are wearing the Ultra watch. Are you also carrying around an iPhone in order to get full functionality with watch? Thanks.
He always has the latest iPhone in one pocket, and whatever android phone he’s testing in the other pocket 💯😉 clip-share.net/video/-pTGc7cIBIA/video.html
he uses 2 phones basically, something im also thinking of doing, since i really dont like my current iphone 12 mini and the new iphones dont give me what i want or what i like, but im deep in the apple ecosystem..
he uses iphone mostly (like for social media, cameras, youtube and all) but still claims android as his main phone just to keep android fans away from attacking him.
I’m almost certain folds will become a thing. Specially big folds (not flip style ones) because companies can sell double the ads on double the screen.
Former educator here re: analog clocks and calculators in your pocket. Never said you won't have a calculator in your pocket to my students, that's ridiculous nowadays. BUT overly relying on calculators when learning basic/new math concepts really stunts a student's growth as a logical/mathematical thinker! The ability to do basic math in your head is huge for building number sense and helps make advanced math easier to comprehend. Analog clocks on the other hand not super useful lol.
Pixel Watch battery life issue is overblown, full stop. Charge it when you shower and get ready in the morning; charge it again when you're getting ready for bed; no issues. You may think "that's too much charging" but I'm not wearing it in the shower or when I do dishes, it's pretty simple.
Of course more people are interested in lucid than the Ferrari, they more rare but once you start seeing them everywhere like the model S. More people would stop for the Ferrari
Is the Pixel 7's fingerprint scanner working consistently for you all? I can't ever get it to perform an accurate reading. It's starting to drive me nuts, because the Pixel 7 defaults to the fingerprint over the face reading for biometric unlock. I upgraded phones so I could stop typing my pin codes into everything and I'm still... typing pin codes into everything.
I like the little song that plays before the trivia, where did you guys find it, also I hope it's not copyrighted! And oh my gosh, the pun before the second trivia was funny😂
I was using a Fold 4 for a week or so. The bigger screen is a game changer but not always in a good way. Most apps I use don't scale well or just outright cut out chunks of the app. The Fold's outter screen is too small to use for anything outside of small tasks. Hopefully the Pixel Fold outter display remedies this.
Hey quick note! In the material we saw, the power button stuck out just as much as the volume button. Could be that they go with a design like the iPad Air’s Touch ID…?
Marques- Are you using an Apple Watch with the pixel phone in this or what is your daily driver currently? Having trouble deciding to use pixel or Apple when my whole smart home is google but the google watch isn’t quite ready yet versus Apple. Thoughts?
Andrew, you godda get a case for your watch when climbing. I keep a little bumper case for my Garmin Fenix in my chalk bag. Whenever I climb I just snap it on and it has stayed completely scratch free.
Ans of trivia about electric eel Its 600-800 volts Not watts Its different Watts means power Volt means energy to transfer electrons from different potential
Love the producers cam AND the light detail is incredible. What a nice episode!

I'm 33 and I feel it takes me longer than 3 seconds to read an analog 🥲
I love the podcast, it always feels so very authentic.

The concentric face looks pretty good on the Watch 4 but a little better on the Pixel watch because of the dome shape
I would guess that when the expanded foldable Pixel could be used as a Pixel Tablet as well, so that would increase its value
And then put on the dock and use it as Google home
iPad Air has a protruding fingerprint sensor
I have a question for you all:
What if Google makes it so that you could use the dock for the incoming Pixel Tablet, as also a dock for the rumored foldable phone; essentially so that you could, in theory, do Facetime, er, Meet calls with friends & family, or maybe it turns into a makeshift mini-Home? Hope I explained it right.

Foldable pixel would be so nice though. Yeah google does suck with hardware usually, it that software is just good enough to make up for it.
I would love it if Samsung just made a thinner fold. The split screen is nice but still...

27:03 VIVO X FOLD and "X +" is one. Having one of the biggest tech channels and just blatanly saying a horse tihs is just mind blowing to me.

Without the tesla charging network.. the convenience is not the same
Why would I want to have a watch, that I will have to charge everyday just so that it can "spy" on me and "track" me 24/7? LOL.

Is it just me or did this not make it to Google podcasts?
Not just you, it never made it to Google podcasts. Seems to be available everywhere else though 😞

Andrew: i don’t like that watch face
Marques: 👁️👄👁️
😃
THE (PIXEL FOLD) NEEDS AN EJECTING STAND AND A LASER-KEYBOARD/TRACKPAD EMITTER BUILT INTO THE STAND. IT COULD USE A PEN.
In Sweden we all can charge at a tesla charger. Almost everyone is open for any ev.
I feel like I'm always (OK, not always, but I've seen many!) seeing stories about bears being spotted in New Jersey.
Your flashlight is on sounds like the "you're fly's open" of the tech world
Andrew you should get Spigen Rugged Armor for watch 5
I was using a Fold 4 for a week or so. The bigger screen is a game changer but not always in a good way. Most apps I use don't scale well or just outright cut out chunks of the app. The Fold's outter screen is too small to use for anything outside of small tasks. Hopefully the Pixel Fold outter display remedies this.
It's absurd how little they pay attention to how the device works vs. a non-foldable.
What kind of dog is Mac? I want my brother to get a dog like that
More images about what you’re talking about please!
Clippy was in Office 97, which came out in late 1996. I remember it in middle school.
I would like it better if the producer camera was a small box at the bottom right of the screen that popped up when they spoke. Otherwise ❤️❤️❤️
Why not leave the render up for more than 2 seconds?
I know I'm an old fart, but for some reason I find it very disappointing that Marques is such the uber-tech that he cannot tell time 😅
Love the producer cam. I think Adam looks like a chipmunk 😂 it’s all love tho
Hey quick note! In the material we saw, the power button stuck out just as much as the volume button. Could be that they go with a design like the iPad Air’s Touch ID…?
Electric eels can generate up to 860 Watts for up to 2 milliseconds up to 1 ampere
Marques- Are you using an Apple Watch with the pixel phone in this or what is your daily driver currently? Having trouble deciding to use pixel or Apple when my whole smart home is google but the google watch isn’t quite ready yet versus Apple. Thoughts?
87k for a car is insane for 99% of people, it's not even a consideration.
Andrew, you godda get a case for your watch when climbing. I keep a little bumper case for my Garmin Fenix in my chalk bag. Whenever I climb I just snap it on and it has stayed completely scratch free.
Ans of trivia about electric eel
Its 600-800 volts
Not watts
Its different
Watts means power
Volt means energy to transfer electrons from different potential

$0 power bill for 4 months wow
