Because the chip shortage made it so people are still playing there old systems and inflation has something to do with it too and not enough of a catalog of new games you can’t get on the ps4 that’s just imo

Because the ps5 is in short supply because of limited components they started selling PS4 as it’s much easier to make

Plus these bundles are BRAND NEW as in just 3 months old new. Which use the same components as a ps5 (material wise not part wise)
the actual reason I found from other videos was that it's a marketing scheme, an old generation ps4 is $350 but if you just add $50, you get to game on the newest gen. $399 doesn't seem so expensive for new gen, does it?
The reason for the price is because it comes with 1TB of storage, double the amount of storage the regular slim has, plus cod games have raised up in price
Yeah As an Australian mw2 is $100 so they would have to make it more expensive

I don't quite understand, my ps4 slim has 1tb storage and it's years old now.
if you look on the packaging of the console it says 500gb. so no, that’s not the reason for the price.
@Chronic X I just double checked the one he unboxes is the 500gb one but the one he shows the price of clearly says 1TB so I'm still right, makes me think that if he is biased towards Xbox he showed the price of the 1TB model to make it seem Sony increased the price of a normal ps4, kinda scummy if that is the case

Its no reason to buy it when series S is around. It may have less memory but at least its a ssd and stringent hardwear that Will keep up with next gen games. Ps4 is good but it is at it last peak now rip

Man, I remember getting the Uncharted 4 Slim bundle. Played it once, then switched to COD and Paragon. Fun times.
Back when demand was high for PS5’s, Sony said to offset demand they would increase production of PS4’s. Some speculated this was due to the fact PS4’s use parts which were more readily available than whatever is needed to make a PS5

Affordability is a large point with what they're doing, yes to the outside it may look expensive but factor what you're getting. In my country, cod is 90$ so getting that and a 1tb storage drive is pretty worth to me. (Also with a simple screwdriver set the slim is easily the most comfortably maintainable console)

I'd pay that just to have a second one i can keep unused for as long as my current one is working but if something ever happened instead of having to buy some used or refurb one somewhere I could just break out a brand new one.

I just did a few weeks ago. There's several playstation exclusives I really wanted. I was planning on buy a slim second hand for around $200 but a buddy at work had a ps4 pro he didn't need so he sold it to me for $150. Way cheaper then I ever expected.
