    • S.KullRandom
      S.KullRandom 4 months ago +29

Not to mention, the coverage complemented the action. Something a certain network on the NASCAR schedule fails to provide... And just presents cringe programming when rain delays that race. Can't wait for NBC to take over

    • Bevan McNicholl
Bevan McNicholl 4 months ago +3

@S.KullRandom Thats mostly because nascar and indy car style racing doesnt offer enough reason to have the money invested in it

@Bevan McNicholl The ISMA Supermodifieds are more exciting to watch than NASCAR and INDY combined......The cars look better as well.....And they each look different, no cookie cutters here, and no big corporations either.........The ISMA supers are the most exciting and different oval track cars hands down.

    • Bevan McNicholl

    • noggin
      noggin 4 months ago +136

To be fair, Townsend just loves Santino (which is already really suspicious and annoying considering the Ferrucis are terrible people) and he was being an idiot. The tire was clearly over the line, he just refused to see it because he wanted to see Ferruci win. Which is gross.

For a moment, I thought AJ Foyt was going to have a heart attack. Regardless, Ferrucci's 3rd place finish was the best for an AJ Foyt car in forever.

Absolutely crazy race! Feels like it had it all! I'm not sure though (after having some time to think about it) if I like how that ending played out. Newgarden is however a very deserving winner and I find comfort in that. It was a really, really good race! Congratulations Josef!👏🏆

I felt sad for Helio and TK, 'cause they weren't nowhere near they used to be when racing at Indianapolis, especially TK, being his last Indy 500. He surely deserved to win once more. And Helio, as his MSR-Andretti car wasn't that good throughout last and this seasons to win his 5th. But man, what a beauty to see Newgarden winning, and moreover, Ericsson losing. Sorry Ericsson's fans, but I'm not his fan at all. Felt sorry for McLaren also, as Brazilian fans have so many good memories with White-and-Red Mclaren (and Penske) Marlboro. This race was amazing to watch. Thank you Indianapolis! You beauty never disappoint.

I watched both Monaco and Indy yesterday. This was the better race, hands down. Drivers really going for it and giving their all at Indy beats the F1 paddock's complacent or lax attitude about their finishing places any day of the week. O'Ward, Newgarden, and Erickson put on one of the best shows I've ever seen and can hold their heads high. Looking forward to next year!

    • David Blake
David Blake 4 months ago +1

I hear you. The thing about Monaco is that it's almost impossible to overtake. The real race is the qualifying on the Saturday. The actual event on the Sunday is a (high speed) procession.

    • EXP2TR10T
      EXP2TR10T 4 months ago

@David Blake I know about the passing at Monaco, and yes, quali was so much better because anybody could crash. For me, it's more the driver's attitudes and mentalities. Max didn't show half the emotion or gratitude that Newgarden did upon winning. And compare Pato O'Ward's "risk it all for the win" to the overly content settlement of the other McLaren drivers in F1, and I know which driver(s) I would rather watch.

16:42 So happy for Newgarden, but IndyCar was sooo close to having deaths at the speedway be national news tonight. They have to investigate what happened with the wheel tether. We are so lucky that tire didn't go into the crowd and have a repeat of 1999.

    • igoris_batonas
      igoris_batonas 4 months ago +3

i think the wheel tether was completely intact, the wheel hub itself might have broken and let the wheel loose. if that's truly the case, i'm not sure if anything can be done about it

    • S.KullRandom
      S.KullRandom 4 months ago +3

I don't know what happened in 1999, and at this point afraid to ask, but something tells me it was similar to 1987 Talladega

Glen Chapman 4 months ago +3

@igoris_batonas Yeah the geometry of the accident would be well outside any design parameter's. Going backwards at a 100 miles an hour and being hit by a car going 150 miles an hour...who would ever think of that as a scenario.

Brother, if indy is the wild west, than NASCAR is Omaha Beach, We have a single driver that every other driver is out to get, and the same driver who rode the wall last year, a driver that can say the N-word, come back to the sport the next year, and dominate, and Juan Pablo Montoya, who is mainly known not for his f1 days by NASCAR fans, but is known for slamming into a jet dryer at Daytona in 2012. NASCAR is insane, bud. (But also stupendously controversial)
