@Andrew Rodriguez iPhone designs are way easier to fix than most androids. The screen is the first thing to come out, followed by the battery. The problem is Apple locking parts to the motherboard, so repairing them doesnt work. The design itself is actually very repairable, but getting parts that work perfectly is impossible, so they are hard to repair

As a 3rd party service technician of smartphones and tablets (for about 5 yrs now), I agree with everything being said.
Impressed by Apple, let down by Samsung.
De-throning Apple as the #1 consumer-hating company, is quite an achievement.
What happened to you Samsung? You used to be cool.
Jokes aside, I really enjoy watching your videos, perhaps due to opinion bias confirmation, perhaps due to the calm and relaxing tone in these videos (despite the frustrating discoveries made when testing some of these trashcans) or perhaps it's just fact that I get to tag along in someone elses mind when it comes to reviewing the build quality and durability of these devices.
Either way, thank you for your work and efforts and well done, keep it up, I very much enjoy your content!

1- The PCB's inside apple phones use regular pcbs with matte black solder mask because they don't want to spend your money on making them nicer (white pcb)
2- If you were talking about the actual schematic, which is not open source, reverse engineering has proved it be to be very poorly engineered and designed

@1 dude, you don't get it.
Your cellphone and every other computational device is a calculator, a highly powerful calculator with some extra inputs and outputs. How do you think that every pixel is shown in your screen? Yes, by doing some pre programmed math (a lot actually), same with every "process" that at it's basis, isn't other than a bunch of boolean operations.
Whatever you interpret is irrelevant to the cellphone, for example, it detects some "touches", then it does some math and outputs something (it doesn't know, it doesn't have conscience), and there you have it, music or video or whatever.
Same with the electromagnetic signals (wifi, bluetooth and 2/3/4/5G, even the camera, but it's a little bit different)
So, yeah, they are the same, but cellphones and computers are more powerful (how much? Idk, a lot, maybe) and with extra memory, inputs and outputs.

@Canido well yes, but a smartphone has a lot more features and does more complex things. the apollo guidance computer is literally set up like a calculator and doesn't do much more than that. it was a highly specialized device, comparing it to a general purpose computer like a smartphone is just silly.
a more apt comparison would be to a engine control computer

    • Canido
      Canido 2 years ago +1

@1 you know? your cellphone is another calculator.
If you think calculators are not impressive, try to imagine a world where we continue using the abacus, that means only technology from the 1700~
Every computer is a calculator with extra peripherals.
      So, yeah, calculators are impressive.

    • 1
      1 2 years ago +1

I really hate this comparison, it sure SOUNDS impressive, but those flight computers are really just glorified calculators, as well as a lot of the math had been done beforehand

Sendiya Bandara one was used as a glorified calculator, the other is used for various things originating from the use of a calculator.

iPhone 3g and 3gs still used philips screws at the bottom instead of pentalobes! Also, when removing the earspeaker, IF you were to break that flex cable, faceID no longer works and the cable is too thin to solder. Part is not replacable and has to be done by apple like the TouchID part on older iphones. Shame on apple for that. Cool and properly done teardown!

pentalope screws are used because they don't strip, normal screws usually strips when going to smaller dimensions to the scale apple is using.
Torx screws are standard screws for smaller dimensions but beyond certain size they to start to strip, apple had been using them till they started using smaller screws.

finally a big battery, that's the only reason I got the 11 pro max over saving some money and getting the Xs max, the screen is normally the biggest drain on a smartphone so if you want long battery life when actually doing stuff you need mAh! The small battery iPhones get hammered when your Actually doing tasks
