The fact he is still happy with 50xp shows how much of a gamer he is. Every little bit counts XD
Gotta get them XPs, esp. since he can't get anything other than vendor trash from that encounter.
You never know. A set of hobo glams might go well with those skulls.
A true gamer of culture. 🧐
I had the exact same thought! Cheers :)
All about the gains.
Should have shown the 50xp added to an xp pool of over 8 million, just to show the insignificance of the enemy you just killed
Does that even count as an enemy or just light relief.
@Aaron Lowe due to the level imbalance between them I would call it light relief or a chew toy at that point cause seriously he can't even scratch him with his attacks they do nothing at that point as you saw
And he's still happy to get it.
@Hariman on his new steam deck yay
Hamish is the best, he always puts his all in to his characters but his fruit seller bit is still my favourite episode ever
My favorite is him as a Boss with his orb as his weakness.
I love him as the guy attacking during the cut scene “Excuse Me!”
Same, especially when he promise to spread rumour about Ben, that's funny as heck
Now imagine if this boss scaled with player's level
He does not have starter gear. So... maybe two back slaps instead of one? 🤔
"Why does this guy take more hits to kill than the literal end-boss of the game?"
@Enthuast that is actually an issue we resolve by giving Stat boosts to bosses dependant on items.
It is very difficult to get a clean boss which cannot be cheesed, as we say.
Most of the time, sadly, the owners do not care. We want the best player experience, yet often we cannot provide it for the playersm
Man, I HATE games where everything scales with the player. Totally does away with any reason to -do side quests- play :(
@Step-Moonton i think melania might be one of the best non chees-able fights. 1v1
Tbh it IS a very good feeling when you go into the main story overleveled.
It's like using cheats, but you actually earned them, so it ends up balancing out.
Even better when a game can get reasonably challenging deeper into the quest still.
most likely you'll just forget you ever have a main story quest to begin with...
That's a bad game mechanic from Bethesda, Elden ring for the win.
I lost it when Hamish got slapped, fell down and said “NYIH!”
Straight from the Order of Knights That Say "NYIH," I see...
@MidnightDStroyer They are now the Knights that Say Ikki Ikki Ikki Ikki Zubboingu Tengu Szrm
IKR 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Same 😂😂😂
Hamish plays all of his characters so well 😂😂😂
I know he's a true and pure player when he didn't skip any dialogue.
and then he did a speedrun
@NoName its ok. he finish the game without skipping any dialogue then he SPEEDRUN it :D true gamer do it this way
Nor he ever skips any side quest. )) Absolute player!
And an even truer player for having to ‘skip’ the battle dialogue by... skipping over their life.
An elite player would zip in at near-light speed on a burning pheonix, listen to all of the dialogue and cutscenes, admire the textures on the tent, sleeping bag and lantern, grab a collectible journal, harvest a mushroom, then zip out at near-light speed again, blasting every creature in the area with an aoe mount passive on accident.
I like to do the sidequests precisely so I can breeze through the main story. It gives me a chance to appreciate dialogue and cutscenes without stressing about beating the boss.
That is me, I want to appreciate the game design when I don't have to struggle. Prep always helps.
Then again, accidentally killing a boss too quickly may cut some dialogue you might wanna hear
which games would recommend like this?
What game are all these videos based on???
@Lights_Utopia I did it last in elden ring. At low level I was just running away from so much stuff that I couldn't properly appreciate and explore the world as well. So I just came back to beginner regions once I was op and started combing through every nook and cranny.
I know he was an NPC but I give him credit for staying in character, even though he obviously rather be doing many other things.
This is legitimately how I play a lot of games on my way through the main story I'll just get sidetracked with so many side quests in between each main story quest so by the time I reach the actual quest I've overpowered for the quest and I go through it easily
Also first time going through the game you always listen to all the dialogue
And I just see the side quests as extra loot and a little bit of story if you want it
Same for me...
I N A L O T O F C A S E S
Guilty as charged
Guilty
You are the real deal...a 'real' player. Be proud!
Gotta clear my quest log!
I love it how he puts the sword away and you can see that he's thinking: "I wont need a sword for him."
The more I watch these, the more I want an RPG with NPCs that are actually like this, like, commenting on level gaps or mechanic clichés. We need an Epic NPC RPG to get made...
I really like how humble and nice this adventurer was.
He appreciated even the little EXP reward.
He must have listened to his grandmother. 50 cents or 50 dollars, it all adds up!
If the adventurer was Ben, he would have laughed menacingly the whole battle through, and his dialog would have been arrogant and stoned by his power
Also he didn't skip the speech and you can tell from his looking after the attacks that he kinda feels sorry for the boss to be absoluty no match to him.
Unlike alan 🤭
I mean, he could've tried to pretend to be hurt...maybe use a real attack like "oh no, I'll have to use 80% of my power'
I like how the PC put his sword away -- like he was embarrassed by the amount of overkill it would cause.
I love how self-awareness and actually hearing what players say is just an accepted part of how the NPCs in this game work.
1:18 I was fully expecting the player to say "Hm. 2 damage. That's the most I've taken in a while." with a healthbar above his head showing like 17M/17M
Hamish's tiny squeal when he hit the floor had me ROLLING!!!
This is so accurate, I like to do so much side quests till the bosses in main story isn't even a threat xD
When you finally stood a chance against the hidden bosses, the main story bosses became like child's play.
I think back to a game from like three decades ago. Baldur's Gate. I don't recall if it was the first or the second game but in one of my play throughs I went exploring immediately, came across a rare encounter, defeated the NPC (barely) and gained a very nice enchanted silver sword as a reward. If I remember correctly that damn sword ended up carrying me through the rest of the game.
I love how Alan's character is so innocent and genuinely enjoying the gaming experience
It also looks like he feels bad for Hamish since his attacks literally do nothing to Allan.
Gameplay must be super fun to spend all his time on side quests before starting the main story
@Jorge Curiel López Skyrim in a nutshell... I spent about 30 hours doing side quests before I stumbled upon an essential npc and triggered a main quest on accident. That was when I realized that I haven't even finished the 4th main quest yet lol.
@Nico I basically explored the whole world, won the civil war, led the thieves guild, became archmage of the college before going up the mountain to see what the shouting was about.
I think I was about max level a few times in skyrim before even trying the main quest... that's how you enjoy the game right?, also my main quest will never be completed, my quest to steal every single piece of cheese in skyrim.
I'm sure this is exactly how Alduin feels when you do everything before the main story
My problem with this one is that the thieves guild would usually be involved in side quests more than the main story line
oh ya mean like how the main quest in skyrim will force you to go to the thieves guild unless you've already done it
So, I genuinely would find this being turned into a game, kind of fun! There's a lot of solidity in the story, despite the oddly comedic skits, that you guys, if you wanted to, could turn this whole thing into an actual game! I genuinely would love to see this stuff all put into an actual MMORPG.
That fact that he didn't need his sword made me smile, but when he just smacked him... 🤣🤣🤣
Just because you've been playing side quests doesn't mean you don't want to enjoy the story! 😁
I always love how Hamish’s characters are completely aware of how terrible the situation is yet are unable to deviate from their programming to make the best of it. Always lends a frantic element to his acting that sells it.
I agree 100% and like someone pointed this out specifically! It's his character thread and it works with his acting style so well lol - probably not a coincidence!
Hamish is the best actor period. they are all amazing but Hamish is just different man
I like how he didn't even bother to loot the body.
@Ryleigh S Yep, they do a great job playing into each others strengths - Amish is great at playing crazy, Ben is great at playing pissed off, Rowan is great at playing confident etc. 🙂 I always love when they're "typecasted" again, because it promises an awesome sketch.
When Hamish is involved , you know weird sh*t is about to happen.
It’s always nice when you become strong enough to no longer have to dodge or block attacks.
Ah this is what the NPCs were thinking when Maple engaged them with her mecha hydra sheep armor + her eating skills
What amuses me is that the NPC is fully conscious of and frustrated by how imbalanced this is, but he still does his best to follow the script.
This was me in Elden Ring after farming levels for 2h. I deleted like 6 bosses from existence with 2 hits. Those were truly epic fights.
I really want a game where if you do this, the final boss actually reacts to how over-level you are XXD
imagine going to the main quest without completing all the side quests first.
this is why skyrim levels the whole map when ever u level. It knows the chances of you doing the main quest with any coherence is wishful thinking.
I don't understand what you're saying.
People do the main questlines??
What kind of monster would do that?
Look to save my child I clearly first have to save and rebuild every single settlement in the commonwealth.
i think this one has got to be my fav from epic NPC man no matter how many times i've watched this. hamish's reaction to everything is just on point 🤣
This is what happens when you learn that the cave in the marshes in the witcher have cockatrices that keep respawning and each trip provides about a level
I am proud to say, i am a side-quest leveler, and this is exactly what happens with me in main quests.
This happened to me in cyberpunk. I enjoyed the side content so much that when I actually got around to doing the story missions, the bosses were very easy compared to the sidequests
They should do one where "when your character is overleveled but the plot demands you lose"
Literally laughed out loud when Alan backhanded him into the afterlife.
me too friend, me too.
Backhanded to oblivion
That is the legendary skill "Strike of Will" very effective.
The little slap which OS the boss 🤣
You should do one for when you are playing on new game plus and you are WAY over powered for the enemies at the beginning but somehow the first boss still beats the crap out of you because it's part of the story.
So... When are you guys going to actually make a real game based on these adventures.. I'd buy it.
I did everything skyrim had to offer before I did the first optional story quest, I felt this. I even broke a few missions jumping over mountains to clear stuff I wasn't supposed to
he's like the kind of who goes like a madman to open every chest in the map
I was like this in Final Fantasy Crisis Core: Reunion. I did all the side quests as far as I could before continuing with the story, then as soon as new side quests unlocked did all those too. I was finding some of the side ones hard, then when going back to the main story everything fell over when I looked hard at them 😂 The only optional one I can't beat is Minerva.
Even knowing he is gloriously outmatched the master of thieves keeps to his script and makes it fun for the eager newbie. 🥰
A joy to watch as always.
I really like how humble and nice this adventurer was. He appreciated even the little EXP reward.
such a good heel. kayfabe all the way.
Nice day for fishing, ain't it... nevermind.
yes the OP hero wase willing to hear the story and the thieve master still gives the OP hero the story he wanted. what a chad
The casual backhanded pimp-slap was just perfection! 😂
I love playing games and being overpowered against enemies. I hate when you make massive upgrades and the enemies all feel like they matched you
I have watched this one a few times. Still one of my favorites . I sometimes imagine a flick to the nose killing the boss.
I love the little squeal Hamish does at the end 😂
When the boss music kick in but not for the boss . 🤣🤣🤣
The kick is for ass of the boss
“Call an ambulance - but not for me!”
The little squeal when Hamish hits the ground 😆
absolutely killed me XD mep!
You beat me to it with a second. lol
"MEHP!" *Plop*
I loved it xD
Ñe!
Playing Oblivion, it sure felt like it at the end. Doing all the side quests, I had massive regen skills + I returned 90 % of damages to the enemy hitting me. So I basically stroll my way out of an ambush while every enemies killed themselves by attacking me.
This is like when you revisit the first boss of a game but you have all the gear you got from beating it
I love taking my time and exploring side quest. As much as I would love more of a challenge, I hate missing out on quests.
Imagine if NPC's reacted to your level.
If you're super high level some NPC's run away.
It like Bofuri: I didn't want to get hurt so I maxed my defense.
I love how he showed his true player status by saying "nah I don't need this" and just put his sword of flames away and bitch slapped him for the win
Hamish is a hell of an asset for y'all. He excells at playing the unfortunate, the bamboozled, and the anger fueled so well.
In one of your previous skits, his ramp up from being simply annoyed about them skipping his ba-nay-nay and carrot sales dialog, then progressively pushed beyond his breaking point to fury. His absolutely hilariously aggressive delivery of the line, "YOU WANT SOME FRUIT?!?" was a perfect line delivery.
His silent anger is still the best acting i ever seen
@bryant prak "Well, I guess I don't need ALL of the children..."
Got to play all 3 in this one!
You are talking about BEERBOT 5000 here....of course he is AMAZING AF💯
I also loved the "puzzle" performance where he descends from superior and mocking to frustrated and furioud when the adventurer solves the pathetic puzzles that have somehow been intact for thousands of years
Sometimes it feels like the side quests are to be done in a spesific order with the main quests, since they give tips to the main quest and force the player to invade the same enemy camps
Reminds me of going through old dungeons in wow, where you sometimes had to take off your weapon and hit the boss with fists to prevent them from glitching out.
The moment he realized using his sword on a pathetic thief wasn't worth it:
At least he still got to see all the boss's cutscenes. Last game I played where I was overlevelled skipped pretty much all the cool phases of the boss fights because I did too much damage at once. :(
I think it depends more on the programmer than anything else. Sometimes, if you're over-leveled, one attack is far more than the boss' entire health bar. However, after one hit, it activates the cutscene programmed for when he drops to 75% health and is at that health when the cutscene ends (necessitating extra hits for however many cutscene triggers they have).
Depending on the game and level, it might even be programmed as something which you have to lose; the boss will only be damaged to a certain point and then his health bar will stop going down and the only way to progress is to let him kill you (I've only had that happen once and it took me a bit to figure out that I was supposed to lose for the story).
Reminds me of the time in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion when I was wearing full deadric armor and had cultists in their undies attacking me with wooden clubs as part of the Shadow Over Hackdirt quest line. I stood still for a moment without doing anything and discovered they couldn't even hurt me.
HE DIDNT EVEN LOOT THE BOSS!
The ultimate sign of disrespect :D
"Nothing you could possibly carry interests me!"
real gamers "ooo a shabby pair of 3$ boots with a slight color difference and a *bosses name here* in the name....in the bag you go"
@furryfan141 Even if it's only to be sold to a vendor 5 minutes later.
RUDE! some of them might be collectibles!!
Always loot for crafting essences and other things to be sold.
@BlueBearie THATS WHAT I TOUGHT
That's what happened to my in Skyrim. I did so many side quests and leveling that by the time I got around to doing the main quest line I was overpowered beyond belief and everything was literally a 1-shot. Good times.
Its time for PFaB, my friend. Google it.
Skyrim is laughably easy to do this in, just skip visiting the tower in Whiterun main mission, and there are no dragons in the world aside from some hidden side quest ones. Collect some specific alchemy ingredients, brew and sell a specific potion (Creep Cluster + Mora Tapinella + Scaly Pholiota) for massive amounts of gold, then buy and disenchant stuff so that you can then run a loop to overlevel your smithing and enchanting abilities for massive damage/protection/health.
I love this channel to an unhealthy degree
The best strategy to apply when you’re over-leveled will either be divide and conquer or superior firepower. The only thing that bugs me is still being susceptible to certain hazards (radiation by limit) and giant explosions, against which there usually is no stat to increase in modern games.
Would love to see a game where a boss reacts to you being over powered from doing side quest lol
If you do anything with someone being a loot goblin, have them mention some perk or stat where they can move full speed even if they are overcumbered.
I loved how delightfully awkward this was:
The leader of the thieves guild reluctantly had to put on a show and the player went along with it understanding it was awkward for them both lol
Who else would let him finish his quest dialog if not Greg the Garlic Farmer, whose sheeps ran amok?
Yes, we both watched the same video but thanks for the recap.
I mean this quest was meant for lvl 5 characters.
@Petrow Egynyolc this is him before being turned into the npc known as Greg the garlic farmer
lol, this is pretty much how I did my first play through of ff7 on PlayStation 1; I was like level 30 before I left the first town.
Hamish kills me every time with his falls and sounds he makes😂😂😂(among good writing and editing in all these skits). This has now become my favorite in addition to Weak Spot, fruit seller and Just Press C. I can’t find this type of comedy gold on television anymore.
Doesn't even bother to check the body for any good loot. That's the real mark of knowing you're overleveled, you've already got everything you need.
It is now canon that grinding Mercenary jobs, clearing dungeons, & exploring caves is the meta power-leveling strategy when we get a VLDL game
It would be fun to play an RPG where all the main storyline characters react to the player character being over-levelled. Like you go into bandit hideout and their boss berates you for being the big dammed hero picking on petty criminals.
love coming back and watching this one... hamish is too funny
Those are some serious improvements for a sheep herder
Garlic Farmer.
@Mark Kronour i think he's both or a part timer
Garlic farmer that owns sheep.
The game have only so much of character preset
Sheep Herder is the tall red head that keeps going on about the Dark one and the One power.
I have a love hate relationship with this. I love doing my side quests when they are meant to be done, but often it leads to you being equally leveled for each fight. I love myself a challenge and usually play on the hardest difficulty with enemy upscaling etc. However, even if I do this, a ton of the boss fights feel a little underwhelming, unless I'm playing an extremely difficult game. At the same time I don't like getting stuck at one part for 10 hours.
This was me as a kid playing oblivion. By the time I actually started the game I had like full glass elven armor with enchanted swords. Was walking around like I beat the game lmao
Should have shown his health bar being like 10 times the size and glowing with a shield and a magical spell buff and more orbs flying around it for whatever reason.
You know, I really like the NPC. He shows up again in the Mythic Quest line to save the elves and I loved it. Too bad he vanished after speaking to the Role player and his female companion. I hope she ended up saving them.
Love all the changes y’all are making except one: really need that “EAPPPPIC NPC maaAAAAN” at the end
This!
Agreed
True that
Absolutely
Yes - could have the new end card with the old audio above it.
This was me playing Forbidden West 🤣 Had so much fun running around adventuring that I was maxed-out by the time I returned to the main quest line.
The slap was genius, a far better response than I could have dreamed. No need for the swing of a sword. 😁
Yall need to make a full on movie for this. Maybe like an epic dungeon crawl or something.
A reason why I generally like it when enemy levels are more based off of their area or point in the story and not the player's level.
I always love this clip. If you play these types of games, we have all done this at some point.
Honestly, Hamish's appearances in VLDL vids have me laughing almost immediately. He nails each performance.
True Hamish is really dope! =)))
Same here, I never have enough Hamish in my VLDL videos. Top comedian.
So True.
Want some fresh nanas?
They are all great in their own ways but yeah Hamish is my favorite.
Hamish with that energy never gets boring
Used his hands to not damage high level sword. True gamer.
When I see Hamish in the thumbnail, I automatically click! I know it's going to be funny. No offense to those other two or three supporting actors that show up from time to time.
Love how Hamish can switch from intimidating npc to just hilarious mid-scentence 🤣
Hamish has Emotions.
All right, few things genuinely make me laugh out loud but the casual back handed b*tch slap to win had me in stitches. Thanks for that XD
This has the same energy as you killing a dragon but accidentally hit a chicken and the guards come to arrest you after you literally suck the soul out of a dragons body.
You know you are overleveled when you don't even bother looting the enemy you just killed
I get so badly sidetracked onto the side quests that I sometimes forget about the main storyline
In Taiwan there was an old RPG game and a player didn't know how to trigger the main story line to leave the town. By the time he left the town, which is normally around lv10, he was already lv30+ by slaughtering countless bees and learnt the move "God of Sword", and hence his net nickname.
FYR most people end the game at lv50-60
Edit: Oh no according to the ref he was lv71 when finally set foot out of the town.
Top notch, love this. Honestly, make Side Quest Guy a recurring character. This could be it's own series
definitely agree, I want to see a boss fight
I was literally thinking the only negative thing about this video is that it was not long enough.
"Eeeepic OP SidequestmaaAAAAN"
Side Quest Guy = One punchman
I would like to his his journey to level 78. You know, before he became overpowered. His positive can do attitude in the face of adversity could be an interesting dynamic.
I was hoping for a backhand, and I am very happy to see that's where it went!
Please do one where due to the level scaling, the minor boss is stunned when his own little bow turns into the Flaming Light of Azazeal and his leather armour turns into Unholy Plate of Chaos.
This video perfectly explains what I mean by "I defeated the boss with a single slap". Real gamers never ignore the real power of side quests. 😂
The feeling everyone had when they reached Lv.50 and got into the final bossfight with Adam Smasher.
This is me in literally every game. Because I have no interest in playing the game once the main storyline is done, I finish all the side quests before that so when I get to the main quest's final boss I'm usually one hit and done. 😆
Player: “I hear boss music”
Boss: “Wait I hear even louder boss music”
