Gaming
Even with all the glitches and the awful performance of the game at times, this is probably the best all round pokemon game in a decade. The story/stories told through the adventures, while could be a bit predictable, were actually well written. The enemy team was really interestingly done without giving away any spoilers, and the end story bits with the last area were genuinely heartbreaking/heartwarming. Best writing in pokemon in a long while by far. Terra raids are a lot more fun than the dynamax raid counterparts were, unfortunate with the glitches in them, though hopefully they'll get patched or fixed in the future. These games are a much better step forward content wise. I think they are certainly my favorites among the modern games including my criticisms of them.
There's a great game in Scarlet and Violet, especially knowing it came out the exact same year as Legends: Arceus. However, it really shouldn't have released this year and should have gotten a couple more months to polish and optimize, because shitty optimization's definitely holding this tgame back.
I mean im def enjoying it but sword/shield felt significantly more polished imo
For as much raid problems ppl had early sword i never really experienced that, so going from the sw/sh raid system to this one is a MASSIVE downgrade - the raid system as it currently is is an absolute disaster. Unbelievably buggy, tera mechanic being more awkward than dynamax, and the individual battles/time counter just is not working at all
They released the best Pokemon game at least a year too early.

Thank you for this exploit! Also to add a bit of info: the beach by Levincia city has pearl strings you can find which sells for 10k. I found one casually on the beach randomly, did this, and usually get around 9-10 pearl strings per 30 minutes session. It's a really good method for AFK farming or before you go to sleep.

What you can find on the ground is influenced by what level you are as well, IE how many badges you have

The glimmering item doesn’t need to be directly under the basket, it ONLY needs to be in the area that you are able to walk around your picnic table

The basket doesn't actually need to be on top of the shiny piece, it can just be close to it. So don't worry too much if it's not directly on it.
Found something potentially useful out. The glitch still worked for me as of today, but I was getting Potions even though I was sure the item I was manipulating was a Star Piece. Turns out, there was a Potion nearby that was confusing the glitch. Once I removed all items that weren't the star piece, I started getting Star Pieces.
It's funny because multiple games have this "proximity glitch/exploit".
No Man's Sky has a duplication glitch using 3 refineries in close proximity to each other. These break a lot and just gotta correct them at times or start over and try again. Must be a common programming mistake to have it do it's checks by how close it is to another object. When they overlap..dupes happen because the object exists in the same coordinates. They gotta know this by now I'd think...

A little tip you don't need just two as I found it a lot easy by having 6 of the same pokemon that are the same gender tend to spawned a lot faster

The story is what makes me overlook the bugs and glitches and such. Sure, online terra raids are annoying and you cant even join them half the time, but that story was the best in a while.
If the "standing close = more drops "thing is true, it's probably something to do with framerates lowering if you move away, and the basket is counting frames to determine how often it happens.
That is actually a very good way to look at it. I'd bet it's correct.

I have tested different ways to improve the speed but for some people it seems slower for others. So for people that has slower spawn, the fastest way to get star piece is to actually breed Pokémon too. Put male n female to breed item and egg. If you click the basket every 3 minute you will get 1 to 2 star piece compare to using non breedable I get 1 to 2 star piece every 10-15 minute

I’ve been trying it most of the day and I get 1 every 3 minutes no matter what. Haven’t tried a new location but have tried moving my character to different points, different mons, claiming it periodically, etc. Always have 10 at 30min. Has anyone found ways to increase the speed?

Thanks for sharing this glitch, however you do not need to put the basket on top of the Sparkle. I found out because I had a Star Piece and a Potion sparkle close by and any sparkle that is within the picnic range the small distance your allowed to walk in will count because I was picking up Star pieces and Potions so for best result try and get more sparkles in your circle for more infinite loot.

Does this work just as well if I used breedable pokemon, so I can breed for eggs while also getting star pieces? Or will that produce less star pieces than non-breedable pokemon?
I tried this glitch on 12/4/22 with two female dratinis in my party and level two egg power. It seemed to still be spawning items, but I only got 3 star pieces in 20 minutes
So a few things I have learned from doing this glitch:
Yes, it does work with non breeding pokemon, but I've found that breeding pairs give way more output. As well. Those breeding pairs DO NOT give eggs. Or at least the entire time I've done with a corviknight and kilowattrell, I only ever received star pieces.
Also as a big tip I found put the hard way, once you find your star piece, PICK UP ALL OTHER SPARKLES AROUND IT. I absolutely got wrecked after waiting for 10 minutes on one of my setups and got nothing but potions, even though I was on top of the star piece. Upon inspection after packing up, the other two sparkles around my picnic site were indeed potions. I tested this again in a different spot and indeed the same thing happened, this time with super potions, and again with a heat rock. Each time it seemed to spawn the more common items more easily than the star pieces, than if I had set up around a star piece and only a star piece.
There MAY be a chance that if you have more than one item near your picnic of the same item (ie 2 star pieces) you get an increased chance of finding them, as the potions and heat rocks spawned much faster with multiples around, but I can neither confirm or prove this part of my findings, only that if more than one item is present around your picnic, it tends to spawn the less rare one more often, and breeding pairs provide much faster results.
By “breeding pairs” do you mean those two Pokémon are in the same egg group but we’re both the same gender, or do you mean they were also opposite genders? Also did you use Egg power 2 during these tests? Thanks in advance!
@starlightmeteor I've had better luck with it if the breeding pairs are both in the same egg group and are different genders, but it does seem to work still if they are just in the same egg group, or if they are just opposite genders and not in the same egg group. Like I said I had way better luck if they were in the same.egg group, were opposite genders, and no other items were around the one I wanted, and I only ever got Stat pieces, not eggs.
Also, for whatever reason; it may only be for me; putting ANY pokemon with ditto that can breed will only produce eggs, not items, so if for whatever reason you decide to have Ditto on your team, only put him with non breeding pokemon like legendaries or another ditto. Like I said. This may only be for me, but it just absolutely would not work if I used ditto and any breedable pokemon.

I had my meowscarada and jolteon with me and the first thing i got was star piece but everytbing after that was nothing but eggs. I wonder what i did wrong 🤔
@Jaye3rd89 I'm not sure my guy, it worked for me when I used a male corviknight and a female kilowattrell, got nothing but star pieces (except when another item was present around the picnic), used the sandwich to increase my egg rate and got all star pieces. Maybe it's possible only certain pairs work? Or maybe I did something I didn't realize on setup that somehow did this? 🤔 I don't remember doing anything besides precisely the setup in this video and just played with the pokemon I used for the method. It worked really well in the instances where either:
1) The two were breeding pairs and were opposite genders (this is the one I had the best of my luck for)
2) they were breeding pairs (same egg group) but same gender (works really well but yielded slightly less per 10 minute intervals than the first for me)
3) they were not same egg group but happened to be opposite genders (provided significantly more than if the non breeding pairs were same gender, but still I had a rough time doing this)
If the first method doesn't work with having breeding pairs and opposite genders, try the second where you get a breeding pair and same gender, as many of my friends I've showed this to had better results than me with the second method. Really it may just come down to experimentation in your game to find what works best for you
Just for raids you’ll make money faster if you do 4 or 5 stars this guy is definitely making it seem better I’ve literally done this so many times on average I’ll get 10 in 30 minutes with the same sandwich most I’ve gotten ever was 13 and I’ve done this quite a bit
I just did this and it still works. Got 8 star pieces in around 30 minutes
This game is easily the most entertaining pokemon ever imo, even the main stories are really good.
For those wondering, it’s been patched. You may get 6-10 star pieces in 30mins. Still good…but 60k in 30mins is pretty slow when they’re trainers you can beat for 10k in 2 mins.
Not really sure what ive done wrong. The whole thing technically works, but sitting afk at my picnic with egg power 2, first 5 minutes I got 4 star pieces, second 5 minutes I got 1. Why such a huge disparity?

You dont need 2, you need 1 in your group or make sure they WONT make eggs otherwise you will end up with 7-8 eggs and 2 stars

When I tried it, I used my clodsire and my skeledirge and when I tried to get the star pieces I kept getting Pokémon eggs in between. If you are shiny hunting or getting 6 iv Pokémon then you could do that while getting infinite money, but I currently am not intending to do that as of right now. So if you want to just get star pieces and not fill your boxes with eggs then I recommend using two unbreedable Pokémon
not to harp on you too much, but the reason they were producing eggs was because clodsire and skeledirge are both in the "field" egg group. this means they are compatible for egg breeding. the method here works so long as the two mons cannot lead to an egg. so opposite egg groups or as the video shows, 1 of the paradox mons.
a good example for that would be your clodsire/skeledirge and a Makuhita/iron-hands. (makuhita is in the "humanlike" egg group and its pretty easy to get early.) Anything thats not in the "field" egg group (or other corresponding egg groups) will work for this.
which unbreedable pokemons can i use that are easy to find and catch?

As of Nov 30, 2022 this works.
Did 3 tries with inconsistent values of Star Pieces being found.
1st try - 9
2nd try - 15
3rd try - 10
Had a gabite female & male grass starter pokemon at its final evolution (cant recall the name since I call it Razor). Also make sure you aren't near 2 of the item drops or else you will get both of those which means it reduces the efficiency of star piece farming.

Tested this 6 times in a row & found out that you definitely gonna get 9-10 star piece per 30 min afk run but there's a catch to this.
for the 5 runs I got 10 pieces for sure.
for the one run I used a rubber band to let the camera keep spinning around me I got 7.
So as someone below said "standing near to the basket makes it spawn more cos of the FPS" I think that might be true. Unsure. But out of 6 runs 1 run with rubber band gave me a lower piece spawn than just manually making sure my Switch don't goto sleep.

I think they should make better methods for making money so you can afford in-game items and IV enhancements, etc.
Anybody know where you could do this over a big nugget otherwise I believe the best one to do this over is a pearl strand as it gives the most money
Truth be told this may be my favourite main series pokemon game (coliseum and xd still top it for me) and I've played every game. The game may have some issues but most don't bother me or some have a bit of fun to them like gta for example the one ones I'd say I really need to see fixed are ones regarding tera raids and if there are any (I haven't got any despite beating the game) any glitches that get you stuck or falling through the world. All in all I'm loving this game and more than anything I hope pokemon expands on this rather than being deterred which is what I'm afraid of.
Yeah. The only things that need fixing are the things that actually stop you being able to play.
@Mr Bubbles yea luckily outside of tera raids I haven't encountered any (worst one is the undying raid boss I literally ko'ed a 6 star breloom 7 times before I finally won. Each time I'd ko him he'd revive at red hp)

Sword and Shield had the best Infinite farm mechanic. Get Amorite Ore from raids, then get Watts From Digging Pa for the price of Armorite Ore, and then go to the Left Digging Brother he takes your watts and gives you Rare items.. It was "THE BEST" Afk farm, for both, money, and bottle caps.
All you needed was a Turbo Button too. And you could infinitely farm. As long as you have the Watts.
Keep the Bottle Caps, sell the rest. Infinite money, And then use that money for Vitamins at the Dojo, which had a discount price.
I miss that exploit already. And it wasn't even an exploit or a bug, or a glitch. It was the best way to use resources to gain other resources / materials.
Best way to make money in those ones was hoard watts, buy luxury balls, sell for pokedollars. Less complicated
@LabAccident You'll be missing out on Bottle Caps. Which is why the Left Digging Brother method is better. You'll comeback with 999 Rare items and a lot of Bottle Caps which has a 2% drop rate. . Poke'dollars is mostly used to Buy Vitamins anyways.
You'll have to go to the Left Digging Brother anyways to get Bottle Caps anyways. And usually you'd be AFKing it anyways.
Leave game on over night or while at work. While your Turbo Button auto Spams the "A" button on the Left Digging Brother.
I don't advise the Luxury Ball method, because your using watts. Which could of been spent on the Left digging brother to farm both rare items, and Bottle Caps. Otherwise you'd be wasting resources as I mentioned before. This is the best way to use resources to gain other resources / materials.
And Bottle Caps are a must have in Sw/Sh to make competitive teams. Take it from me who has infinite money, and over 400 Bottle Caps. Lol. And I have 999 rare items in my inventory to sell for more infinite money. Which I won't run out anytime soon. Lol.

This isn't a bug. Grab 6 Iron Thorns. Watch closely. They walk up and physically interact with the basket: there is an animation exclusively for interaction. No star in basket, always star in basket after. More Pokémon = more items.
Why Iron Thorn? His animation is easy to tell.
The point is to camp near item spawns. If no items spawn nearby, you can get biome specific berries instead.
I can honestly say that I have not encountered any of the glitches that people have been complaining about, to the point that the first time I heard about all this I was genuinely confused, so idk maybe I'm just lucky.
Are there better glimmer drops elsewhere like a comet shard?
A better spot would be that small island off the coast from the marsh biome. Can find a pearl string there, which nets $10,000 instead of the Star Piece's $6,000!

Was pearl string saving for you? Everytime id find a pearl string it wouldnt save the location. I saved before each pick up. Found pearl strings 3 different times, but when I would reset it would be a different item. The star piece always saved for me. No idea why.
@ShadowElite247 i may be wrong on this but i think there are a small amount of set places for pearl strings where you can use this glitch but when items respawn and become pearl strings they won't work since the item is random
Tried this method out twice today. It worked, but I can't say it really got me a lot of pokedollars. Got 11 and 15 star pieces in both half an hour time. I used an egg level 2 sandwich buff. It's more than nothing I guess. But can't say it was really worth it.
I would like this method if it wasn't so passive, don't like the fact that it won't work well unless you use an unbreedable pokemon with ditto so that it only gives you the item drop repeatedly, along with having to wait 5 minutes using an egg lvl 2 food buff so you just end up sitting there. Feel like ace trainers or just picking up the items to sell in a batch from the desert area strikes the right balance.
If you get sick of searching for a star pice like i did you can go to south levencia and find a big pearl or pearlstring that sell for pretty good amounts
Also, about this method. I don't make any changes to my party and it still seems to work. Unless that whole idea is to make sure you don't accidentally breed, lol.
This is basically a duplication glitch and I’m glad that I’ve come across such a thing. Btw, if anyone knows where to find a Big Nugget as a shiny item pick up then it would be much appreciated to not only me, but to also everyone that would come across this comment.

There are no Big Nuggets in the overworld and there are a finite amount of them in the game as far as I know

This is not most of the time, this doesn’t guarantee star piece every time. Most of the time I got potion. It’s good if you really want to afk. Other than that raids are best so far.
I havent been doing this even knowing about it because you get a ton of materials to sell from raids as well. But it is pretty funny to see, but at the same time I cant blame them because who would think of something like this to even try? But I do agree, the game is very much a blast to play, despite the performance issues that I've had. Definitely looking forward to the add ons that will obviously be coming our way. Hopefully Pokemon Home update wont be too long.
This doesn't seem to be a glitch, you don't need 2 Pokemon to do it (1 works just fine) and the Egg Power doesn't increase the chances of spawning an item in the Basket... this does seem to be a feature, which makes sense, you don't need to be on top of the item, but the item needs to be in the radius area of the picnic, makes sense if you think that it is your Pokemon that pick the items and put them in the basket.
I think it used to be a glitch in wich the spawnrate was. Bc now u get like 2 every so often
@ShinoIAki i've been using this for a while now and have done a few tests myself.
I did noticed that the texts are different, when you get an egg, you are asked if you want to keep it or not, while if you get an item, they just say what item it is and move to the next text box which is either more items or eggs or saying it is empty, there is no second text box asking you if you want to keep the item or not.
@Terios i know that. I did this when the game was new and i had roughly 400k an hour with that method (not including the stuff u pick up while looking for a star piece) and now 4 tests after 1.3 i cant seem to get more than roughly 100k an hour. So they did drop the rate of it spawning.
The 🌟 just needs to be within the camp's walking distance not in the basket

With egg power 2 eggs appear in the 30 seconds to 2 minutes range, so I'd expect a return value of 60 to 15 pieces per sandwich
Get an Ability patch.
Equip your ride pokemon
Give ability patch to ride pokemon as hold item
And go catch a pokemon. Then you can infinite dupe AB's

As you said the problems should be acknowledge, but I cannot deny that it is the most fun I have had with Pokémon in years and I can only hope they fix the issues that needs fixing (the missing shiny sound/visuals for example), but as the game is now, I love it.

Get an ability patch from 6 star tera raids, clone it (search a tutorial), sell each copy for 125,000 Pokedollars. Perfectly designed game with no flaws whatsoever.

114k for 30min is a bit low given the fact that beating 1 trainer from the league/ace tourny gives 26k with amulet

Would getting egg level 3 boost increase the star piece spawn rate aswell or would that not work?
Honestly even if it does, I doubt it would make enough of a difference to justify using an herba mystika. It's probably a lot faster to just go for egg level 2 instead of farming for a bunch of herba mystika first.
People asking for refunds does not mean they get them. However in a lot of countries you can in fact get a refund if you give back a game within 14 days. So, it might in fact be less Nintendo doing something and more them doing what they have always allowed.
Does this work with any type of item? Because I have a feeling that it could be used to duplicate items for free, like getting 999 Poke, Great, Ultra, or any kind of ball as well as more valuable items like Big Nuggets and Comet Shards.

You should be doing Beaches and looking for Pearl String, its the highest sale value from sparkles.
EDIT: People are saying it's way rarer to find the pearl strings than I thought it was so maybe this isn't good advice.

Very nice for afk but it seems amulet coin with the school battle brawl (and Ghouldengo) will net you more for your time

this glitch is still great if you haven't beaten the game
@Luto You can look up the duplication glitch but they patched it. You can still take advantage of it if you have the dupe Pokémon setup to duplicate before the update but it's possible to get a ban if it's on your team when you do online battles. I'm not sure of the details for that tho
@Zachary Brockman u will need a miraidon to do this glitch so this method is impossible while in the early game

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, it works but... It gives mostly Eggs and the Star Piece just a few times (without packing the table). I can't get just Star Pieces instead of Eggs. Tried many diff positions.
If you get eggs it's because your pkmns can breed. You have to bring with you pkmns that cannot breed.

Doesn't it cap out at 10 before you need to grab though? You aren't going to hit maximum anytime soon using this method. You could dupe one ability patch in 30 seconds and make as much as you would just sitting and waiting for 30 minutes for a star piece to generate.
This is for people without endgame since you can do this whenever

There is an item cloning method. I've been using the newest version of it to get roughly 4 ability patch every minute. They sell for 125k

i rather prefer a glitchier game, with an amazing story. than sword and shield which felt like a pain to get through the story. but thats just me

tbh i dupe 1 ability patch and it has more value and it still works in 1.1.0 if you knew how to set it up.
It doesn't really work aftera little while, and the star pieces are hella frustrating to find

every 2 mins seems to work for me
If a glitch can be used and abused by the player to enhance their game play experience then you can be sure Gamefreak will patch it.
If the glitch negatively effects a player's experience then it will remain in the game forever.

I thought this was gonna be a glitch, but that looks intentional and I even had the idea of testing that out
Not sure if this works anymore. After I opened the basket for the first time I got a few star pieces, but the rest were all eggs. I tried have 1 pokemon in my party, as well as having 2 incompatible pokemon, but that never spawned any star pieces in my basket.
