@Ready321 I definitely agree, hoes should stay in their lane and not worry about the ins and outs of how men are spending their own money. However, some guys make it very clear early they are willing to spend all their income making wife happy. Then, a slow, painful death ensues as the female spider's saliva breaks down the poor bastard.

@greenflock Correct, even with air filtering installed you would survive as long as you can remain in the bunker.
There is no point surviving a nuclear war, if its of a scale big enough to end civilisations across the world.

What about NBC(nuclear biological chemical) filtration system hepa filters at least water purification and a swamp room decontamination alot of other issues. Waste off money if it is not for a survival purpose just a expensive basement lol

In the event of a war with Russia, the uk will be wiped off the map. The UK is a small island nation and if Russia dropped only 10 tsar bombs, all its cities would be destroyed, but even if the whole world dropped a nuclear bomb on Russia, the Russians would still survive because they have huge territories and cannot completely destroy such a vast territory.

Really impressed with this bunker and your work ethic.
With your latest tunnel project, you are nearly connected to the house. From the workshop to the bunker is like 4 times the distance as the workshop/house tunnel?!
Did you think about doing a tunnel back in 2015 when building the bunker? And no doubt realising now, how much easier it would have been to have dug it all out at the same time as digging out the bunker. With the new houses at the back of your garden you no longer have an access for a digger and lorry, so workshop to bunker will take you the best part of this year? Look forward to seeing how you tackle this one :)

So I have a new house with a huge retaining wall at the tree line that looks perfect for digging into. It's a little more than 10ft. Can anyone say how much they think it will cost to build a similar room? I'm thinking 20k if I dig into the wall and do it myself, but doing what he did and digging it all out with equipment would probably be an extra 15k. Looks like the bunker build itself professionally will be like 70k-120k. The house connection would add more. Looks like a full bunker would be 150k for that style, but I'm not looking for bomb shelter, more like a basement in the yard

Okay so it’s been in my mind a while now since starting this series and after seeing that you did quarry out the ground to put the bunker in. My question is why you didn’t trench up the halls as wel and then rebury them? Is the project a fun adventure for you is the reason? You want to handicap to make it a fun project such as the no noise part? In my mind the whole project could have been done in a fraction of the time doing it this way and save you a lot of man hours digging and hauling dirt.

The one question we’re all thinking, as this is England how on earth did you get planning permission from your council. Before people say it’s a private house it doesn’t matter, large scale stuff like this that can affect the surrounding environment and future house sales usually have to have some third party approval.

    • Oblivion

@KraKen7716 its not that expensive depending on what you're trying to achieve. What this guy did is more of a storm shelter than a bunker. His vent system is very exploitable as in its a simple tube connecting to the outside, so anyone could either block it or stick gas down it, he also has no toilet at all so if he had to stay down there for say 1 month, it would be ''shitty'' literally. Last but definitly not the least, you usually want around 10ft of soil on top of your bunker. So what you want is usually the bunker itself with around 2 or 3 ft of concrete around it as a sort of outer shell, and then 10ft of soil over the concrete shell of your bunker.

I think in the states the bunker counts as an accessory structure until it hits a certain square footage. In some areas that means it's the equivalent of a shed and requires no permit unless you plan to live in it.

@John Church Yeah I had the county planning commission try that crap here (I live rural)...I built it ANYWAY... All they did? FINED me and the cost was only about double what the "permit" they wouldn't give me cost... Less than $500... I don't take NO for an answer, it wasn't the first time as they tried playing games with the install of my Septic System Drain Field... I rented an Excavator and put it in myself where I wanted! By the time they figured it out what happened it was too late! They Don't Like it? They Can Piss Off... I walked the assessor off my property at gunpoint as well... No snoopy ding dong allowed!

It's beautiful. Nicest bunker I've ever seen. That would easily cost a couple hundred grand. Maybe alot more. Who knows. The only problem is it's in the middle of a neighborhood and literally 14 million people know where it's at. Lol. Good luck if there actually ever is some kind of apocalypse. Better have a pretty good arsenal to defend themselves because people are going to want that space. That's why hi live out in the country and always will. Beautiful job though. I would love to have something like that.

Can this be a shelter for tonadoes, bombs, and wildfires? Hypothetically, if the lawn was engulfed in flames I suppose the oxygen would be limited but you could perhaps survive a passing wildfire ya?

I think if I were considering building such a bunker, it would have to be made into a proper theater with a massive entertainment system and some killer surround sound speakers. I would also have probably built some actual stairs, but that's just because I'm lazy and climbing ladders is a lot of effort. Still, this is a massively impressive project, particularly since it's all steel enclosure instead of the usual concrete block affair. I look forward to the project update after you've finished out all your tunnels and you get back around to adding in a proper bathroom and kitchen to the bunker. Some nice televisions stuck to the walls with a high enough contrast ratio can function in lieu of windows, at least to provide a better atmosphere for long-term bunker residency.

If you want a small toilet room you could just make a corner big enough to sit on the throne, or just put in a toilet with a looped shower curtain to slide around it & retract when not in use - the have the basement toilets that have an internal pump to force everything up, or they also have the electric or gas kind that incinerate everything into ash, just saying as options.
I was wondering about the vents in the corridor, you never did say in the video what they were for but I'm gonna guess it was to cut down on condensation in that small area where the humid air coming thru the hatch hits the cooler air below in the summers?

Works nicely if you build it in a place with low ground water level. At my place the ground water level is about a meter under the ground - then you would for sure have rust problems.
