When you mentioned the hearing accessibility feature, I literally screamed! As a deaf person, I never hear things like the tap, the doorbell, the cat at the door etc. so I’m incredibly intrigued to see how well this feature works, because if it’s good, it will literally change my life! ETA: For those wondering, I use subtitles along with my hearing implants to hear what is said in videos. And rely on lip reading and the implants in everyday life. Just because I use assistive technology, doesn’t mean I am not deaf, because without this technology I would struggle to hear an air horn next to my head, and even with it, I still rely partially on lip reading to understand what is being said.
I will say props to you
I didn’t know this either! I’m hard of hearing...wouldn’t say it’s that bad - 75% deaf on my left side and my right is almost perfect but I do miss a lot of things. Going to give it a shot!
@Llama Parmesana 9:49
They finally added a lot of the features I’ve been wanting! A few things that would be nice to add would be the ability to put widgets on the Lock Screen, customize app icons without having to create a shortcut, and set different wallpapers for different home screens
This is coming in iOS 16.
Yes, I would love to be able to set differences wallpapers for different screens too. That’s what I miss about the android.
This is probably our favorite update in some time. Favorites include: widget capabilities and that new library search... !!
I love the double tap on the back feature, I so want to use it for android, plus the video multitasking is awesome, yes it is already in the android but the way it goes in the screen and plays just audio is impressive
I really like the new widgets! I was able to really customize my Home Screen to a more user friendly display. Now I just wish they would do something with the fonts.
Petition for his voice to become a phone assistant
I would prefer that
He can replace siri
We're all behind that bud 🙂🙂🙂
Personally, my favorite feature for iOS 14 is the “Back Tap” in Accessibility.
Man my brain went numb i miss my android device but this feature oh my god I’m starting to get in love
I absolutely love your videos! Thanks for being a great at explaining stuff. 😉
Hey Marcus, great pod cast, I watched it a few times and really appreciate your interesting enthusiasm for iOS 14 specifically the smart stacks.
Great content as always. You have superb lighting and editing as well.
First time in apple history when i’m actually excited about an ios update
@Thomas Alias iOS 7 was controversial, I still miss skeuomorphism but it seems to be slowly coming back as neumorphism
This was the only time, since I am alive , that there has been INNOVATION
Yeah- it’s okay. It’s not super great.
Love the widgets! Never really liked how they played out on Android. IOS seems way more intuitive.
Clip-Share is getting really comfortable with these double unskippable ads
just get an adblocker on your computer
Me with Adblocker : You guys getting ads?
The feature I like the most is the ability to organize my home screen with only the apps I often use and keep the rest out of the spot. And about the topic of who made it first, I don't care who made it first, I only care who made it best!
Apple really needs to start doing an always on display. It's one of the most handy things to have on your phone
The “incoming call” not taking up the entire screen is going to be useful!!!
@Femi Awo Guess what you don't need to customize anything!! WOW IKR unbelievable 😮. You can use the Android's base all on its own! I've heard that dumbass argument so many time. "THerE's tOo mAnY wAys to CuStoMize, iT so ThEre fOr itS rubBish."
@Le Brain its literally not complicated. It's not rocket science.
For everyone saying it’s been on android for years, yes that’s true but as someone already mentioned android has always looked ugly as hell even with all the customaziation it still looks ass. Even if we wait 100 years for a feature already on android, apple would do it 100 times better and looks a lot better. iOS is far better than android not only in looks but a lot of other things aswell. Android will forever be ugly and too complicated for simple daily use.
This should've been there from day 1, extremely inconvenient

Upgraded my Note 9 to the iPhone 12 Pro Max and after spending a bit of time getting used to iOS 14, I was surprised to see the capabilities that iOS shares with Android. I expected my jump to iOS to be frustrate me with how restrictive could be, but I was surprised to see that most of the core functionality that I’m used to in my Android phone is now present in iOS, and I think iOS 14 really helped with that
Thank you! Very useful!I’m downloading iOS 14 right now and I feel prepared now thanks to your video 😃👍🏽
I really like your videos. Clear, concise and very instructional...Thank you.
iOS 14 wasn’t really supposed to be a big change it’s just many few changes which keep on adding up. The sign language FaceTime will sure help a lot of people.
I would like to see Google copy:The feature where phones older than a couple of years actually get updates.
iOS runs on older phones because it fundamentally doesn’t even do anything.
Samsung (for now, I just know that samsung) is providing 3 years of software updates for their phones now. But then again that's only 3. Three is good enough though
Iphones chips are faster than most androids and battery life is much better now in the iPhone 11’s
I'd like to for the blind ass people to see how Apple just copied some shit from Android and tried to make it their own
billysielu Would be more biting if Apple hadn’t been successfully sued for deliberately slowing their older phones
Your the best tech reviewer! Simple, quick and best explanations!
This update I'm looking forward to. Looks like really cool improvements that makes sense!!
You’re great at explaining things. Very clear and concise
Definitely love the accessibility touch feature. Glad i saw your video, otherwise wouldve never ended up using them. Cheers.
That "recognizing ASL in a Facetime call" actually seems super dope and I'm glad they are pushing for more accessibility options so everyone can be connected!
lol next time I group facetime I am just gonna put some gang signs to be on top lmao
until someone starts throwin up gang signs
Ima be honest, I’ll just use it to make my screen bigger when I say fuck you in sign language
I just installed it today and i LOVE it like for real battery performance is EXCELLENT and it’s not overheating anymore the widgets look crazy good . 10/10
I love the new video player function!! It’s something I use very often 👍🔥💯
Just loved the back tab features ❤️
Good video! You mentioned that green dot appearing when the camera is in use is a unique feature in iPhone. Well, this has been available in Android phone especially OnePlus 8 Pro since early 2020.
actually the widgets are: windows phone live tiles, ios version
@Lars Spargur of course it looks cleaner. They had years to perfect it after everyone else have had a go
And has been pointed out - Windows live tiles are Apple Desktop Widgets, windows version.
i have a tablet that uses windows 8.1, and i gotta say although people really hated it, for a touch device i prefer windows 8/8.1 over windows 10. idk it's just more "fluid" i guess?
@Rantceck My opinion while the design was something new and different when it came out, it also got old really quick.. while there was good ideas, it wasn't the best of designs
Search Clip-Share for: "If apple created windows 10"
Back tap is my favorite...IOS needs to include features like password/faceID for every application...!! You are really awesome..You explain every-things with ease...The best...
Thank you young man for a clear straight forward presentation. I am upgrading today on my Apple 11.Have a blessed day.
Android users: Wait I’ve seen this before. iOS users: what are you talking about. This is brand New.
@Somesh kelkar True True
Windows users after seeing ios widgets: were we a joke to you?
Well but the widgets at android work really different. and also are kind of uglier
Are you John f kennedy's brother?
Just now watching this video, and I'm actually so shocked to see how many main stay things Android has had that I'm so used to, that Apple is just barely adding.
Asking Siri to open google assistant is like asking dominos for Pizza Hut’s number.
Siri is mother of all the other assistants, Siri introduced virtual assistants to smartphones just like Apple introduced smartphones itself, even if it’s not on par today with Google Assistant/Alexa, Siri is still a decent assistant, I use it all the time, my HomePod is a very good example (since I don’t rarely use any assistants on my phone) sometimes Siri in the HomePod finds the song just by telling her the lyrics, while my Google Home nest and Echo Show don’t. Also Siri is always connected with me so she’s (subjective gender) more accessible and convenient to me since she travels throughout my all of my devices, whether it be desktop, notebooks, mobiles, tablets, watches, smart homes and even my headphones whilst Google Assistant is a bit limited, and Alexa is even more restricted
@naaya :) Yep. Mac offers the best combination of gaming and important uses.
@Parth Tyagi Yes I know! The iMac is pretty good for gaming, and so are the M1 Macbooks, but only if you aren't a full on heavy gamer, otherwise the macs are a good choice - no doubt!
@naaya :) 💯 agreed. But that’s for Mac Book. Mac book is not meant for gaming. No doubt about that. However, I Mac is really good for gaming. I am not saying that it’s best in the business, but it’s not bad either. Mac book serves the purpose of official as well as school use really well. While I Mac can be used for some good gaming also.
it's like using a mac to game.. (no offense to everyone who uses a mac to game i'm a big apple fan but don't use a mac to game please don't kill me thank bye)
Very informative. Thank you. I’d like to play around with the widgets but I can’t get the + to appear in the upper left. I long-press until the widgets wiggle, but that’s as far as I can go. What am I doing wrong?
What's weird is I'm an Android user, and I'm always watching and getting myself updated about the latest iPhones update and news😆
I’m so happy I saw this when it first released m. Now I can actually use the features! You’re always on it!!
I think they are adding these things to make iOS more friendly for Android users. Most people who want to buy an iPhone already do. So to attract new customers means getting people to convert from the Android side, especially given the privacy benefits of being on iOS. Customizable home screen and 'compact UI' were the main reasons I resisted switching to iPhone. I think I will be joining the dark side next year.
Its uncanny how many of these UI improvements were wildly popular in the Jailbreak circles for years now
aeonjoey yes a trillion dollar company is struggling to come up with ideas lmao the jailbreakers just copied android
i loved my old jailbreaks but i stopped because it really isn’t fun anymore due to the fact that its all in normal ios and if i have a jailbreak feature miraculously 3 months later all the normies have the tweak/feature
Jason hey man it takes time they can’t do it in 1 second
Exactly. I just made a separate comment about having widgets on my 4S and iPod Touch
A good company does not wait 8 years.....
I love using Apple’s email app. So simple yet convenient. Idk why it’s hated. If anything I wish I could set default map app as google maps :/
Android has an awesome feature that allows you to crop text from a screenshot and extracts/copy the text from it and allows you to keep/paste it . Would love to see IPhone do something similar .
happened in ios 15
Love it!! Just wish they added schedule messaging!!
I want to see the camera and mic notifications come to Android. There is an app that can do that and it worked great on Android 8, but in Android 11 it requires Accessibility Services access but I am uncomfortable giving it that access.
i love these “quality of life” updates. no new MAJOR features, just easier to access, navigate and use. the new feature with calls not taking up the entire screen is a big one for me.
Sony Do all this a lot better Xperia1 and 5 to Xperia1 March II 👌
Now I can’t annoy people by spam calling them
YUNG_Cam _ naw I want my ft to pause lol.... I might have to kick my other bitch out
Welcome to Android
Thank you. Such clear explanation without the long story telling.

Thanks Marques for the ios 14 assistance. I will be a first time iphone user. Have selected iPhone 12. Hope the 4gigs vs the 6 gigs doesnt give me a problem.
Hey Marques! Apple just released the iOS 14.01 update. What are your thoughts? Should we update our software? I just updated mine to iOS 14 and there are bugs, particularly with regard to the widgets.
I'm actually a huge fan of the little colored dots to know when something is using my camera and mic
I did give some feedback to Apple that I think on OLED screens, it should appear even when the screen is off because the dot only appears when the screen is on.
Shortfuse Industries it more of a hardware and software feature if you hack the software the hardware will activated thus the light will appear you can’t use one without the other so you are safe
@Pranav Flame MIUI 12 launched with this feature a few months ago lol
Won’t stop anyone, especially the government from being able to use it without your knowledge
@Ill Bag Maybe but after it has been activated a message appears on control center for a moment explaining what the dot means.
MKBHD great review as always !
This is a great roundup...especially the accessibility settings introduced
THE most helpful video on IOS 14 yet. Just now installing. Huge thanks.
I would like to see the feature where you can split the screen and use google and whatsapp at the same time (or show it as a smaller screen if that makes sense)
Apple 10 years later: now u can put widgets in the middle.
The Amazing yes
I amAn iPhone user and I approve this comment 😐
First time watching - very upbeat and informative. Nice job. Bc
I can't wait to use ios 14. I am still on ios 13 and am struggling to update my phone to the latest OS of the iPhone, ios 14 but I will update it some how!😀
Yeah, that's definitely Apple's thing. If they didn't come up with it first, or make the best version of it first (which they have in a few cases) they simply won't incorporate it until they feel they can do it better. It's interesting. It's not a unique way of doing things, other tech companies do it, too, but it is a way of at least creating the perception that Apple is above trends. It's why we still have yet to see a touchscreen Apple laptop or desktop, although I do imagine we will see one someday.
You can just simply move apps to the app library and they don’t show up on your home screen, instead of hiding a whole home screen.
Apple: Adds green and orange light to tell when the camera/mic is being usedThe Government: *Our plans are ruined*
@thunderbreeze _ That’s just the ir blaster….
Declan Olivetti I don’t but I figure I’ll go back to this video and tell you
Omg yes I just yesterday when I updated it
The government? Try Facebook 😂
Apple has removed ‘Capture Outside the Frame’ from iOS 14. Please make a review about this. I have photos with & without the feature. WITH the feature, I was capturing photos up to 17MP with my 12MP camera. Now that’s gone. I’d be happy to provide you with examples if you review this travesty.
This update is awesome. Only thing I don’t like is the new Apple Music app logo, the red is a little too much imo. Other then that, I love this new iPhone experience, finally something new!! Feels like I have a new phone lol the translate app is really cool too, they really out did themselves with this update
Thank you for being very thorough and precise....Very professional.
Btw, ik this comment is very late, but my favorite weather app is WeatherBug. If you’re looking for a rather minimalist and darker-tone competitor to the Apple Weather widget, WeatherBug is super clean. I have a screen dedicated to their large widget.
I love the calling and FaceTime feature where it doesn't take much space.
@Derek Stingley Jr. or they just have a jailbreak
I hate it soooooo much😂😂
@Derek Stingley Jr. u prolly broke af
And here I am, taking that feature for granted for the past few years lol
hey Marques do you know a better solution for iPhone file transfer? They seem to have made it obsolete in the new iOS, in efforts to FORCE everyone into full cloud dependence. I know a lot more people could use a video on this than you’d think!
Thanks for the review 👌🏼 definitely wanna try out the tap feature!
As a full-time video editor, I'mma throw you a virtual high-five, bud. Great work.
If google can make an option to make everything more look simple and sleek that would be great, ALSO Apple has a better settings app it’s so much more organized, if android can fix these I would consider getting a note or something
My favourite “feature” is that incoming calls don’t take my phone hostage anymore.
Risky Cryptic This Apple fanboy on this comment mentioned his favorite upcoming feature. Nothing else he stated that should’ve caused issues. Then a ton of android fanboys come in like “aNdRoId HaD tHiS” like ok nobody cares
@Macabre Android user here, I agree with that
But... you always had the option to exit from the call screen without interrupting the call on iPhone.
@Umer Masud That's why they're not one of the most successful and profitable company in the worlds. wait...I'm definitely getting a Iphone next if I'm looking to replace my Mi 9T pro. The integration and their ecosystem is so much better....
Android fanboys complain that iOS doesn’t have these feature and then when iOS gets them they complain that android did it first. You can’t win with these people.
Very useful. Thinking of updating to iphone 11/ pro from samsung s8. Info interesting even though slightly out of date 😂
Do u guys remember the way apps opened up before? Like when you’d open an app it would slide in from the right side. It would show the logo, and one defining color from the app covering the screen. Me and my brother used to have this on our phones a few weeks ago, and I remember it being apart of this update. But now it’s gone and I can’t find anything similar to what I’ve experienced
Being partially deaf I'm loving the sound notifications and the ability to look something up when using Facetime. Great video - really clear thanks - have shared it.
The password function was the one thing I wanted, and its poor execution and non-user-friendly set up leaves little to be desired. It doesn't even recognize when you change passwords at times, and you have to actually close the screen by swiping down to get it to register. It will remember the wrong password, and you have to go back and redo the whole process again. I wish you could use the strong password function at any time.
Best breakdown so far. Everyone else is just reiterating the details from the reveal.
The fucking best
That why he’s the best
Anthony Thomas, To be fair it was two hours long, so those reiterations are helpful, but nonetheless this was the best breakdown so far.
Watch Nick Ackerman or Brandon butch they did great vids as well
New to Clip-Share. Very clear and looks like good quality! Good job.
I just got the new iphone (happy solstice to ME! Thank you 7 plus for lasting this long!) and I want to thank you for your videos. I love that you categorized the time line for extra clarity. Thanks again!
So helpful. Thanks 🙏🏻
I feel like this guy is the only person I ever need to watch when I wanna know anything about a phone.
I've been a lifelong android user, and I've tried the iOS. It's true you don't have even a small percent of customization options In the current iOS compared to Android. When I got my first android device, I would play around with it, always changing the colors, widgets etc. But the reality is after a while, you stop caring. You don't pay much attention to the small details like changing different widgets etc. Quoting "Mr who's the boss", after a while, you are more focused on the apps you use rather than the phone itself, and the way those apps perform when I use them is what important for most people. For e.g., Instagram works better with iOS than Android, pubg mobile works better on iOS because it has a beast of a processor, and the awesome lag free fluid experience of the iOS makes up for the small customization issue you have.
Rei Ranmaru There’s a files app in iOS what are you talking about
IMHO, iOS yet sucks. Yes, it's my opinion, it's not objective, but preferences just can't be objective.Apps? OK. Many apps are shared between platforms. So, in general I'm OK with apps which I use. I don't use Instagram and TikTok. And I don't know any other apps which work better on iPhone, rather than on Android. In general, experience pretty much the same.Android has some functionalty which is essential for me. Such as File Manager, for instance. Android has it from the beginning. Also, we see a home screen more often, than anything. Only iOS 14 get some functionalty, such as widgets and ability to hide unnecessary apps.Speaking about customisation. In iOS you just stuck with default laucher, assissant, browser (until iOS 14), e-mail app (until iOS 14), maps, etc. It's apps that you can't choose.Actually, I would say, it could be right, that apps are essential and Android provides some unique options with apps which iOS lacks, and those options may be quite essential for user experience.
@Aran Rasekhi I live in a place where it I don't need the weather updates constantly. ( I am assuming that you are asking me because your comment came in my notification but you haven't replied to me directly in the comment)
YES! Exactly. I've tried and used Android phone before. At first I was really excited for the customisation but after that I don't just care about it. The app performance was quite bad, which is more important for daily use.
@gmsunshine I am not colourblind because If I were, then I wouldn't have to set a black and white wallpapers and icon pack because I would be seeing things in black and white anyway. I find a monotone colour scheme to be very aesthetically pleasing.
Why other reviewers never mentioned all these tiny yet essential features when reviewing the iOS? I want to switch to iOS from Android but wasnt sure if I should until now. Thanks
I like the changing default apps. Just wish like many that google Maps was a options to change.
@MarquesBrownlee Good idea using shortcuts to open the camera with back tap, however I don't think it works :/. For me, it only allows me to take one photo, limits capabilities, and then it does not save the photo and was causing other problems. Same for trying to do it w/ camera though shortcuts, anyone else have this experience?
Super useful video, thanks 😊
10 years laterApple: you can now change the size of your widgets!
@Abdullah Mufti ok but why perfect it eight years long?
Tho u can change the size of it in iOS 14...
do anyone know how backtap works ? from an engineering point of view, because i can't seem to get how it works since there is no sensors at the back, uses gyroscope maybe ?
I StM I and why would an apple sheep go to an android video content? Like the heck?I've never seen an apple fan boy commenting on a android site, and there you are, an androidtard flocking on an apple featured video. Hahaha HYPOCRITE!
azzam_ they wanted to perfect the os and make sure it’s ready, apple don’t want to take risks like other smartphone manufacturers
This is literally the final nail in the coffin for me to switch back from Android after 5 years. The ecosystem has claimed me
Back tap is the most innovative feature Apple has come out with in the last 5 years
Say what you will about Apple, there is something to be said about their commitment to keeping phones updated that are 5 years old. I've bought flagship androids that didn't have updates after 1 year.
Thank you for taking the time to share! Greatly appreciated!
"So I've had this beta for about...A day now"Not gonna lie, you had me in the first half.
Foe Moe Years Moses ten commandments
Ali Yusuf Now u can watch Apple do it better
@Bento I've had it for about 7 years but maybe that's because it's an android
@MoeIt's in dev beta rn, so you can find it somewhere, but the official public beta comes out in july
The new IOS 14 you make it easy to learn and understand not like other people i been watched i don't get what they're doing. Thank you 👍
still wanna see customizable fonts and live wallpapers that move without you needing to press down on them! but great video :) thank you :)
Hi, I do have a question : somehow I set up on my brand new iPhone 11 a function that allows me to touch any icon in the status bar and they enlarge in a larger window in the middle of the screen. I'm running the latest iOS 14.3I cannot seem to be able to get that same feature on my wife's iPhone XR running the same iOS 4.3Any idea how/where to set up that feature? Thanks. Bruce 🙂🙏🇨🇦
As someone that was big into the Aviate launcher (purchased and eventually sunset by Yahoo) this actually looks pretty cool
Marques in 2030: Well it took them a decade but now you can finally resize a widget in ios.
@arcanacooper and what are u?
Well some people just like to care about what’s important to them and some just like to play with widgets and wallpaper.
You can resize already... Just not the way you are used to.
Hi MKBHD,Can we have a video where apple shortcuts are explored. It is capable of multiple things and would really be helpful for all ios users to get the best out of their devices.
Would like to see timed message option in apple.. we have built in option in redmi android phones
You can set camera to double back tap by creating a custom action and binding to back tap
Excellent info, thank you!
