Goalkeeper Ben Foster looks back on his first Wrexham appearance for nearly 18 years, after he marked his return to football with a clean sheet and a home win
Just a thought: Having a seasoned Premier League professional like Ben, who have had media training, doing the post-match interview, must take some pressure off the other players who don't want to do it. Well done, Ben.
18 years since I last watched Ben at the Racecourse! Frightening! A great 2nd debut, Ben really gave peace of mind. Experience so apparent from the outset. Great interview, obviously a great guy as well as a great keeper. Fancy a season in League 2 Ben?
Just proves the point that this league needs another promotion spot. The gap between national league and league 2 is non existent at this point it’s about time it’s incorporated into efl league 3
@John Doe went to watch a league 2 game today and I've genuinely seen better quality and more exciting games in the NL. So glad it only got £2 to get in , not the full £22-£25!😲
Great positioning, great distribution, pinpoint throwing, great awareness and second choice punching under pressure. Wonderful reading of the game when an attack breaks up. Great footwork and movement as an attack splits to a wing. Very vocal and his timing on jumping effortless. Total natural. The York shot really does expose and separate the men from the boys as regards to making the stop. It was hit with good power and the ex England keeper was equal to it. Some goalkeepers best work comes with age. He’s fit, very agile and a great brain.
United fan here. Ben is class person and a PL pedigree GK. So glad he came out of retirement to help Wrexham charge through the finish line. Love him at United. Im sure he will be love here in Wrexham too. Good luck for the remaining games. Go get that title lads. I will be rooting for the whole Community💪🏽🏴
I imagine when Ben and Ryan have a chilled time together they could heal our world, 2 fantastic humans that pour empathy to everyone that wants to listen, NUFC .
He wouldn't have gone to a prem team because he can't throw his camera in the goal. That's why he's at wrexham. And the hollywood owners. If port vale offered him same exact terms etc he would've told em to bounce
@Scott Chegg The distance was the issue with Newcastle. If a more local club like Wolves or Leicester had come knocking I think he would have signed. Pretty certain he is midlands based.
I'm a Baggies fan / Ben Foster fanboy 😂😂 I was nervous for him today, nice to see your fans have an unbreakable respect for him. I remember last season, the Watford fans really hated him to the point where I was fighting his corner on social media so please don't be plonkers to him and we'll all get along smoothly 😂😂 hope you guys get 1st place
As a watford fan I love fozzy, instead of bitching about Ben having a life outside playing our fans should have pointed fingers at the board's lack of ambition in the transfer window and their baffling decision to hire a retired Roy Hodgson to try and save us from relegation. That's why we went down, definitely not because of Ben.
Have an inkling feeling that Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham would love to have Benny for another season. You have a nice bubbly, down to earth bloke that's not afraid of the camera and he just likes to do what he enjoys best which is to play football.
Ben I am sure you know , some of the BEST goalkeepers in history were 40, some at their peak, Banks, and Buffon just to remind you , my friend . So Happy to see you at Wrexham, even for a minute
Fair play to Wrexham for pulling it off I’m a county fan as much as it kills me to see it fair play what a season it’s been. Regardless of the rivalry we’ve been forced into due to one automatic if you beat us to it I would rather a team like you go up compared to one without the footballing history. I think we can both agree on the fact we both deserve promotion based on the table and the points difference of us compared to the rest. All the best here’s to the best season the national league has ever witnessed.
@John Doe absolutely, you’ve been top class too, if it wasn’t for county we’d have been sailing, I completely agree it’s the best the national league has ever seen, we both deserve to go up, all the best my man and it’ll be a quality game between us, best of luck 🤝
@Wayne Shone your right we are only doing as good as we are because of each other forcing us to not drop points and I can’t wait it’s easily the biggest game in national league history.
@John Doe it’s making for an exiting season and again it’s disappointing the both of us can’t go up, longstaff is some striker btw, this is propper football down here and honestly I don’t think I’d change a thing about this season
@Wayne Shone you never know yet we both might end up going up we both deserve it points wise this genuinely is the only season where if anyone else goes up bar us two would be a robbery but that’s the beauty of this league. But Yh wow what a player langstaff is regardless if we get promoted or not he’s going in the summer for some serious money. Our recruitment under our new owners is something else when you consider the likes of palmer Ruben and langstaff and the fact the didn’t cost anything.
Newcastle fans need to realise that no one outside of Newcastle thinks they're the biggest team on the planet. Pity your lot didn't even turn up against us in the final the other week
that he financially stable and has been in the game for over 20+ years. I would rather play for a few months with a team that took me on when i was teenager/young adult than go to a team that isn't going to play me in the first team. You might want to go and hear the reasons why he turned down Newcastle, you will learn something!!
If you listened to him talk about it, he didn't want to leave his family and kids where he lives and move up to Newcastle on his own. He valued family over money, that tells me all I need to know 'lol'.
I don't pay too much attention to Wrexham every week but looking at thier amazing season and results it seems a kick in the teeth to the keeper who's helped get them to this point for foster just to walk in straight away
the back 4 will learn alot having fossy in net. worth it just for the mentality and coaching from the back.not a slave driver but very vocal an happy to give someone a bollocking if they arent where they should be.
Ryan Reynolds has played a blinder here. He's bought a club on the cheap... done it right, they're playing well, attracting big crowds and his investment will more than pay off. Their must be other celebrities out there inspired by this success story who want to invest a few quid somewhere.
I don’t think you could’ve asked for a better character or player to join Wrexham. Absolute class from Ben. Come on Wrexham!!
I think Lionel Messi may have been better
@connor topping Ben foster is a goalkeeper do you know ball and why would Messi go to wrexham
@Manchestereditz I think he’s joking
@Manchestereditz Brother, pick one club. Pick your local like a normal person
@Manchestereditz you're more confused than Scoody-Doo rkid.. GGMU
Just a thought: Having a seasoned Premier League professional like Ben, who have had media training, doing the post-match interview, must take some pressure off the other players who don't want to do it. Well done, Ben.
Not just media training. His social media work shines through as well.
Yeah hope they are paying him well
@Jacpot Foster has admitted he’s being paid “peanuts”, and that he’s doing it as a favour to the club and owners.
18 years since I last watched Ben at the Racecourse! Frightening! A great 2nd debut, Ben really gave peace of mind. Experience so apparent from the outset. Great interview, obviously a great guy as well as a great keeper. Fancy a season in League 2 Ben?
I reckon Parkinson tries to get him to sign on. To have a goalie who was in the Prem just 10 months ago will be massive for League 2.
An absolute class act and a great character!
Quality shows. Great signing for Wrexham....Absolutely bonkers!
Just proves the point that this league needs another promotion spot. The gap between national league and league 2 is non existent at this point it’s about time it’s incorporated into efl league 3

Well done Ben , and a clean sheet 👊, great debut.
Outstanding man and keeper
Love it, smiling the whole time. Awesome way to start my Saturday. Cheering all the way from MN, USA
Skol
Great interview... considered questions, excellent responses. Foster's a class act both on the ptch and on camera.
Great positioning, great distribution, pinpoint throwing, great awareness and second choice punching under pressure. Wonderful reading of the game when an attack breaks up. What a class signing. Simply marvelous.

Such an amazing singing for Wrexham! And duly needed! Adding a strong goalie to a strong team. Onwards and upwards for Wrexham!
I imagine when Ben and Ryan have a chilled time together they could heal our world, 2 fantastic humans that pour empathy to everyone that wants to listen, NUFC .
Great interview, great guy, great story, great result 😀
Love this guy. Great to see him back playing.
Quality keeper over the years, and still got it 🧤
Ben looked so happy. To think he turned down Tottenham but came to Wrexham in one month.
Didn't turn down Tottenham down prem blocked it.
Wrexham have a winning mentality unlike the Spurs bottlers 🤣🤣🤣
He was offered to Newcastle before he retired
He wouldn't have gone to a prem team because he can't throw his camera in the goal. That's why he's at wrexham. And the hollywood owners. If port vale offered him same exact terms etc he would've told em to bounce
@Scott Chegg The distance was the issue with Newcastle. If a more local club like Wolves or Leicester had come knocking I think he would have signed. Pretty certain he is midlands based.
Really rooting for Ben. Brilliant signing for the team.
Ben foster is seriously a national icon. What a guy
You don’t normally see players talking this honestly about being nervous etc. Ben is a top man & exactly the type of person Wrexham need.
Thank you Ben and Parky for making it happen. Ben, You know you will be still at Wrexham when were in League one for 24/25 !!!!!!
This guy could have signed for spurs or Newcastle. You lot are lucky to have him! Wicked signing!
Why would he go to a small club like spurs when he can go to a massive club like Ryan Reynolds FC
He wasn't looking that great last time I seen him play against us (wolves fan) I think he would of been a bench warmer at those clubs
Go on lads, love Foz, I'm an Albion fan from just over the border but just as many others have, been following since the takeover. Keep going!
Foz is a lot of fun and humble, too. Even from seeing him taking warm up shots, he looked ready and very able.
Ben Foster
Well-done Fos, keep up the good work and good luck to Wrexham.
What a pro on and off the pitch
Comes across as a gentleman. Great signing by Wrexham
I'm a Baggies fan / Ben Foster fanboy 😂😂 I was nervous for him today, nice to see your fans have an unbreakable respect for him. @The Tabby Guy I understand it was a minority of Watford fans but it felt like a majority with the way some of them were going about it
Impossible to dislike Ben Foster!
Just seen the highlights and he looked sharp and confident.
I can imagine he's great to have in the dressing room, what a character. Loved him at Watford ❤
What a signing 👏
Such a class keeper.
Great signing having such an experienced player at lower league level must give the players confidence
Class act, outstanding!!!
❤class man and class keeper
Can I say Ben Foster hast to be one of the best people at doing interviews always professional and fairly entertaining.
This story is just sooooooo much fun! Insanely great!
Cracking keeper, 🧤⚽️👏🏻
It is amazing how 9 months without training heals a lot of the niggles and reduces pain.
Top goalie top team top owners top town 👏
a lot of tops hope you get some
This guy is gonna give Wrexham more media attention than they have already got.
Have an inkling feeling that Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham would love to have Benny for another season. You have a nice bubbly, down to earth bloke that's not afraid of the camera and he just likes to do what he enjoys best which is to play football.
Well done lads ! Ben’s a top lad
I love everything about this story.
Ben I am sure you know , some of the BEST goalkeepers in history were 40, some at their peak, Banks, and Buffon just to remind you , my friend . So Happy to see you at Wrexham, even for a minute
Yep, Pat Jennings was 41 when he played in his last World Cup.
buzzing for this guy. what a lad.
Hopefully Ben can play with Hastag after this spell, class keeper 👏
Well done. So happy for you
what a massive impact of Ben on this Wrexam AFC they had about 700 subscribers before and this right now
This video has 62k views already.
All the others have like 3k.
Ben foster . Legend.
Well done Ben good saves
He was so smart with his distribution
Well done, Ben! Keep the clean sheets coming, mate!
Still can’t believe we’ve got a huge pull now to get foz out of the clutches of prem teams btw, awsome 🙌

Ben Foster with the clean sheet 🙌
It makes you wonder, how many other players out there are thinking, I'd like to play for Wrexham too
Just seen Isco is a free agent
Upping the production values for Mr. Foster.
Best of luck Ben and Wrexham!
Really happy for u mate keep it up
Could have gone to Newcastle..... tells me all I need to know about this guy lol
Newcastle fans need to realise that no one outside of Newcastle thinks they're the biggest team on the planet. Pity your lot didn't even turn up against us in the final the other week

The beautiful game makes beautiful stories
What a ledge, welcome to Wrexham!

Congrats Ben! I love Fozzie!
I don't pay too much attention to Wrexham every week but looking at thier amazing season and results it seems a kick in the teeth to the keeper who's helped get them to this point for foster just to walk in straight away
The keeper is injured mate hence foster signing for them
Howard isn’t injured he has played 30 plus games this season
@Maria Steier just got injured last week, so for the last games foster playing
@Knowlton Knowl mark Howard was on the bench yesterday he ain’t injured he has played 33 games in 2022/23

Welcome back Ben :D
Talking like he’s on his podcast.
I prefer interviews like this, where you can really see someone’s personality.
3-0, clean sheet, BOSH!
