@John Smith why bother comment then? Unless you feel certain genres of music are sacred and should not be meddled with. I’m no expert but what this sounds like to me is modern quantized math rock with flemenco influence. It sounds as harmonious as sonatas by Beethoven to me. I think you aren’t listening, and simply have a grudge of some sort.
I didn’t read any of these comments. But an undistorted flemenco/math fusion inspired Polyphia record sounds amazing.

i can't stop playing this on repeat polyphia has seriously leveled up in every way, from their storytelling and music writing to the mv quality and editing. 2 years definitely worth the wait because I'M DEFINITELY HYPED AS HELL. ive had old polyphia songs and even tim's archetype ad music on repeat for a while, so this is the best gift of 2022

The best part about polyphia is their lack of concern for "convention." They take the best parts of some aspects of genres (like the trap bass and percussion) and fuse it with very technical guitar, and then mix in break downs and smooth bridge transitions. Tim is a genius, Scottie is a genius. These guys have a distinct sound that no one else quite has. Love this band from the moment I heard the first song.

Polyphia is one of those bands where you say to yourself “Okay, I’ll listen one more time and then I’m done” but then you can’t stop listening.
It's more like "I don't ever have to stop listening to this" it's such an easy listen to have it in the background at all times

@Toka You misunderstood my comment about the power bass has. Also the true technical stuff you can do by building on other instruments note selection leaves bass in a very unique position. Obviously a solo performance wouldn't include bass so what's your point here? Bass doesn't function in the same way as guitar so it wouldn't sound as good if the bassist was thinking to make a solo performance of a guitar section. Things like playing the 3rd in a chord doesn't sound good on bass so you would choose other notes and shapes
he had a solo in goat and he can always be heard lmao. polyphia is one of the only bands that actually GIVES proper spotlight to the bassist. should be saying that to some other band instead💀 maybe it's just you that sucks at acknowledging and hearing the bass lmao

Clay (the bassist), like Clay (the drummer), is doing absolutely crucial work here in this song. If it wasn't for him, people would be lost melodically with what the guitars are doing.
@flowtingmusic Charles is great, check out Billy Sheehan solo 1987 also to be even more blown away. Billy is straight fingers, Charles prefers slap then tap.
I could listen to this song a billion times and never get tired of it. This song is legendary. Timeless.
@brandonbba I had that thought initially but I think for quality sake it'll hold up better than a ton of other crazy big artist's tracks from a decade(+) ago.
I usually use artists like skrillex & noisia/other legendary producers of the time as an example in this case.
A ton of people find works from that era of EDM as classics of their childhood still but have you listened to Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites recently? Bro I was 11 years old when that came out and thought it was flawless but just isolating different parts made it abundantly clear that the quality/tones wouldn't be hard to match. Now with stuff like supersonic it's kinda uncanny how far from perfection that earlier stuff was comparatively.
I think this one will still sound great a decade or two from now, they have a formula I'd be happy to rely on

@Jimmy LeBron I get your point and I have a lot to say on this topic. The riff from this song was just a random riff without officially released tab. Tabbed it back then because people were interested in learning it. Same with the 'No trust' riff and a couple more. It was never my intention to hurt the band. Polyphia is a really technical band and my only intention was to show that everything can be learned if slowed down. I just wanted to motivate people to try and learn riffs that sound impossible at first. I would never buy and share the official tabs for free
I know everyone appreciates your tabs, but doesn't it hurt the band? If they're selling their tabs and that's one of the ways they get income, putting them on Clip-Share for free is kind of a dick move

I can’t stop coming back to this video. It’s such a hypnotic song.
Things I love from this song: the fact that they are accepting they are only humans, but can play god for more than 3 minutes. The fact they somehow show both sides of a god: the badassery in the first part (flamengo inspired) and the absolute calm and confidence in the seconds part (the bossa nova thing with the happy whistling) and then both sides in the same segment (making this trap-jazz-rock hellova ending)

@Mr Cheese He released a drum playthrough vid... it's not that hard a song relatively. The most impressive aspect is just that the drums are so complementary and not overshadowing the rest of the band thanks to a nonlinear approach to writing the drums for this song. Like there are barely any sustained grooves-- it's a very ornamental drum part with several different grooves and flourishes all tailored to their specific sections instead of constantly pushing intensity like most rock drums

Opening section is actually much easier than it sounds. Took me about 2 hours to get it up to speed. Right hand was a bit more challenging to perfect than the left. Overall it's much easier than the main riffs from GOAT and 40oz. At least that's my opinion. Different things are more challenging for different people. The outro is pretty tricky though.
To clarify... the main riff from GOAT isn't all that hard either. It's just that one lick that took a lot of time to nail. (Y'all know which one I mean)

Hmm Yeah Covet/Yvette are doing nice stuff, but to me they are not really comparable. I mean, Polyphia is really another world, far ahead of everybody right now, ok maybe Unprocessed/Manuel can relate in terms of technique and innovative playing style, but overall production, composition, etc... accounting for everything, Polyphia is exploring places where nobody went before.
