I love how restrained this episode was. I was worried that emphasis would be put on spectacle, and while there was spectacle the focus of the episode was on the dialogue and setting up plot points, which is what made Game of Thrones great in the first place. Also love how Miguel pointed out that spectacle should add to the story, not be there for the sake of it, which is what D&D seemed to have forgotten in the later seasons of GoT.
@Unknown Warrior you were absolutely right. The whole season was great. The only real gripe I had was with Rhaenys and the stunt she pulled at the end of episode 9. She murders at least ten thousand civilians at Kings Landing then says (I'm paraphrasing) "This isn't my war to start" to Rhaenyra at the start of episode 10. If murdering thousands of innocent civilians of King Landing isn't a declaration of war I don't know what is. Although because the season was so good I can easily look past that.
@Alfred Hitchcook I'll agree that the scene had some issues (though it felt much more like Stannis at Blackwater rather than Jon at BotB) but there is a lot of meaning to it. Daemon's desire to prove himself rather than to accept help from Viserys makes him agree to a suicidal plan. And against all odds, he somehow succeeds which is quite literally a stepping stone for his character going forward. As a second son, he was able to make something for himself.
He says that, and then episode 3 airs. Everything with Crab Feeder was pure spectacle, and didn’t add anything to the story. It was just Battle of the Bastards all over again. Dodging hundreds of arrows, one dude slashing through dozens of mercs, getting surrounded and then saved at the last moment because not a single Crab Feeder merc noticed the massive army sneaking up on the island? Come on. Just nonsensical all around.
Finally finished the ep after 2 failed attempts (always fell asleep). I’m interested now thanks to the plot point towards the end and the bond between Daemon and Rhaenyra shown prior. That totally piqued my curiosity how the story would progress from here on. But I would say the decision to include the tournament thing and the gore almost made me quit and could be the case for other casual viewers who aren’t fans of this genre. Lord of the Rings just has full-on fights but not this kind of knightly stuff, right? It’s just boring and cruel to me. I never finished watching GoT because it’s just too convoluted with lots of unlikable characters but this one seems more manageable in scope. And characters seem more decent in quality as humans, just with understandable motives. So it looks promising to me and I will keep watching.
Logically better than GOT season 8. Dragons were literally blasting everything but a super powerful whitewalker dagon couldn't melt the rock Jon was hiding behind. Just GOT last season things. 😅
Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in. If that first episode is a sign of things to come then bravo. HBO has another masterpiece it can add to its long list of amazing shows.
the man in your profile picture is a social media puppet that a marketing company use and pretend to be him on social media to promote under the table indian products. india is corrupt af
I was really scared for a short moment that the princess's little maid was sent to the king to sleep with him or that the creepy uncle wanted something from her... the actress is so young, sweet, pretty and pure i REALLY hope they spare her in the series or i will stop watching even the opening was quite solid (even i am still not a fan of the brothel scenes...)
It's not too much to say because it's not saying much or anything at all. TV series have gotten terrible since streaming arrived. There hasnt been a good TV series in a long time. This definitely isn't it. When you watch the Inside the Episode interviews after the show, you can see clearly, it's Dumb and Dumber part 2. And the writing of the series already reflects it. They've already broken the internal logic of the world they're trying to set up in four major ways in just two episodes. It feels like bad soap opera writing where no one cares about logical consistency or a believable world, only about manufacturing the next big twist reveal. OMG the king decided to marry Alicent... off screen... OMG Corlys traveled to meet Daemon... off screen... but we're telling you now so we can have a big soap opera "reveal" moment. Wow great writing. And the Daemon actor is just doing a less expressive rendition of Ramsay Bolton from Game of Thrones. It doesn't feel like a character it just feels like monotone villain line reading.
Aemma and the C section… I couldn‘t hold back my tears. In the book emotions were missing but the show absolutely did it. Daemon is my favorite character and Matt Smith did amazing in portraying him ❤️
@shockthemonkey16 well, everyone have their own opinions, i wouldn’t forget my partner for choosing a baby over me. especially if it was never mentioned before (the possibility) ( sorry my bad english)
Milly as Rhaenyra, her screen presence is astonishing to me. I love this character already and I’m interested to see how Emma D’Arcy continues in later episodes. And King Viserys is really being set up as a tragic character. His scene with Alicent was extremely well done. So much emotion and so little dialog.
Matt Smith's choices in how he portrays Daemon are spot-on. That moment of utter tenderness during the funeral shows that he is more than just the menace Otto Hightower would convince everyone he is. I also love that the prophecy ties everything together and makes Rhaenyra's motives more than just ambition.
I don't like the prophecy BS because I worry they will use it as motivation for Rhaenyras actions throughout the show. Or retroactively change why Aegon conquered the realm. Instead of making it some existential threat, let it be natural human ambitions.
I feel like Viserys is Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon combined. He's a character most people are going to love despite his flaws but he will only appear in Season 1. Also, I think he should trust Daemon instead of Otto. Daemon might be a troublemaker but at least he has no hidden motive, Otto looks pretty suspicious to me.
@Amanda The King didn't act from malicious or evil motives, he made a desperate attempt to save his son when it became clear his wife was going to die anyway. And was heartbroken afterwards. As a king who needs an heir it was the logical decision to make and not a crime, in his society and world at least. So I really doubt this is something that will be avenged or that someone would even consider that it should be avenged.
Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in. If that first episode is a sign of things to come then bravo. HBO has another masterpiece it can add to its long list of amazing shows.
@TestTubeGamer that’s one of my main problems with the show. The dialogue lacked focus on a specific character desire or character desires. The editor wouldn’t cut the meat out of the material to focus on specific character reactions to dialogue. Even Viserys seemed very flat when presented with certain details and conflicts. I wasn’t sold at all on the progression of character emotions as there was no emotional traction from scene to scene.
@VonJay you aren’t alone. There was glaring quality issues throughout the entire episode. People acting like this is already one of the greatest shows are deluded. I didn’t outright hate the show but it reeked of the later seasons of GoT not the earlier seasons. The motivations of the characters are not shown or explained through dialogue they are just exclaimed. For me there is a distinct lack of characterization or unique touch to the performances. When Tywin was introduced I didn’t see an actor on stage I saw the character and he demanded respect in every scene he was in. Even the toilet scene when he dies he still tried to command his son and called his gf a whore.
Perfect first episode to introduce the story leading to the Dance of Dragons. Milly, Paddy, and Matt all nailed their parts as Targaryens while Rhys clearly established himself as a great conspiring figure in his own game of thrones while involving Alicent
@Brendon Smith Yes he's already sus to me... The fact we don't hear of them or the Valerian family in the original #GoT says to me they don't make it out of this dance of dragons
I think everybody agrees that this episode, this first episode was pure absolutely gold in every way, if they put this amount of hype on this episode, omg I can't imagine the end of this season, amazing job...
Some of the writing was weak BUT they got the spirit. I liked how many flags they showed compared to the original show. We see the flags for main and sub houses like house cole, dondarion, valeryon, Hightower. I got hope for this series
I hope they mention how Viserys, despite seeming so amiable and even pliable sometiems, was Balerion the Black Dread's last rider- and that he claimed the ancient beast for himself when he was a child. To be clear, Balerion was so large he could swallow mammoths whole. Viserys did NOT lack for nerve.
@K M T I LOVED that about Viserys: He understood the city had a crime problem and tolerated Daemon's actions that one time because the Gold Cloaks needed to assert their dominance.
@Joshua Adams That doesn't count as a rider. She had no real control over him and was basically just clinging onto his back helplessly. So yeah he did have some exercise maybe but since then it had been half a century since he flew or had a rider.
This was a good episode to set the tone and bring old/new fans into the story. It shows specific key parts that makes everyone understand the situation and what this story will eventually lead towards. Interested in seeing how this goes and I cannot wait. My prediction is we don't see the older Rhaenerya, Alicent, and the newfound brothers of Rhaenerya until perhaps later on (6 to 10). Believe that the end of this season will end off towards the main part of this series which I feel could very well be expanded towards 3 more seasons.
I think it will be much sooner. There is about 25 years from episode one to when the civil war even begins so they will have to advance and compress the timeline. They already have done it. Notice during the council of Jaehaerys to determine succession that Aemma was already pregnant but this didn't happen until 4 years after the council.
I was worried they were going to keep going back and forth in time every episode, that would have been awful. I love that they're going chronologically. And I think season 1 will end with the first significant death to kick off the dance. You know... *that* one.
I love the small details in this show that add so much to the storytelling. For example when Rhaenyra has to use her dragon Syrax to light the pyre, Syrax hesitates and groans as if he doesn't want to which illustrates the emotional connection they have to their dragons and the dragons complexity
Loved this show!!!! I WAS ACTUALLY SURPRISED!!! I’m already addicted!!! This showrunner is OBVIOUSLY BETTER THAN D&D!! He obviously cares about the story and the fans!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! Ready for next week already!’
@Shanos Ummesteros I wouldn't put that on George. He's not on D&D time. He's on his own time. You can't rush good story telling. As we all witnessed from Dumb and Dumber.
@Prashant It probably feels off because this isn't a mimic of GoT. It's an adaptation of the dance of the dragons which just happens to be set in the same universe. The show feels like GoT in parts, but is its own show also.
Aemma’s death is so painful to watch, it really gave me that emotion so powerful i was crying up to the end. The secret of the kings passed by aegon was so great too!!
My grandmother died at 21 while having my mother the same way Aemma dies: during labour and having a C section. I always think how scared should have been back then. Poor her. She was just a child.
I've been reading Fire & Blood recently, and while the prophecy itself is fine (it is hinted at plenty of times that Aegon had these dreams, along with plenty of other Targaryens), I do have a problem with it being Rhaenyra's driving force. I feel like in the book it is quite clear she does just want power; she wants what she believes is hers, by right. The only parallel I can think of is Stannis: he wanted to claim his birthright, while also believing himself to be a prophesised hero. However, Stannis' camp loudly proclaims that he is "Azor Ahai", while Rhaenyra keeps the secret close, apparently. Why would she hold such a vital secret close to her chest? Maybe because in the end she does only care about power. It just strikes me as a little strange. The rest of the episode was great, the proper portrayal of the colour and vibrancy of the time is demonstrated very well. In the books it is stated clearly and often that these people love colour, and colour always surrounds them. I loved how the tourney was juxtaposed with the birthing, really hammering home how different the world is for men and for women. Matt Smith and Paddy Considine steal the show, but Rhys Ifans is very convincing as Otto Hightower as well. Much like with Game of Thrones, the casting is on-point. I hope the series continues in form after such a strong start.
@l4nd3r I agree. But my joke Is about the series. In the books it makes sense and it's been hinted before. But in the show Is stupid since we know nothing of that shit happened
@Martin Genero It's doubtful that the books were going the 'last a generation' darkness either way. It also could be that Aegon dreams was of the past, instead of the future (which also plays in the Azor Ahai reincarnation and such).
Lmao my roommate went ballistic with rage when we watched that scene. You're telling me the legend of the night king, a creature that CAN'T EVEN BE KILLED BY DRAGONS, and was created THOUSANDS of years ago, came to the head of the House of the Dragon thousands of years after the Night King's creation, and now Rhaenyra is getting as a gift the knife that (SPOILER) ARYA is going to use to kill him. Why do the Targaryens have anything to do with this when their reign began millennia after the Night King's creation? How did Littlefinger end up with that knife? Why did Sam and Aegon coincidentally come up with the same name for the same events? The answer is go fuck yourself. It's like they're trying to foreshadow that the long night is going to have something to do with the Targaryens when we already know that the only involvement they had with it was to give the night king his own Dragon.
Aegon: "Targaryen dreams are not like the dreams of others. Our dreams come to pass. I dreamt of a long-night that would last a generation--actually, no, it only last like a couple days and only affected Winterfell. That winter it turns out only lasts like a couple months also, making it the shortest winter in history. But many people die...maybe? I'm not sure. All the lords have plot armor and I thought the dothraki died but they were all magically back again in my dream. Anyway, a little girl shanks the bad guy and then Westeros becomes a Democracy. I guess the dream wasn't that bad after all".
What a brilliant start of a season. Great performances, pacing, music, cinematography and script. I can’t wait for more!! Let’s get ready for SundayHOD 🤩
This episode is a great start, I love how detailed this all is, including little things like adding that the king, is king of the Rhoynar aswell, overall I think you guys doing great telling the story!
Just wow! Knocked it out of the park with the first episode! Everything was flawlessly executed and everything great about GRRM's world were put on full display! I especially like the attention to detail when it comes to the house banners and the extravagant armor designs! It was almost a game in itself spotting houses you know from not only the previous show, but also the books themselves! So much looking forward to seeing more!
The dream was clearer than a memory. Our son was born wearing Aegon’s iron crown. And I heard the sound of thundering hooves, splintering shields, and ringing swords. And I placed our son upon the Iron Throne as the bells of Grand Sept tolled, and all the dragons roared as one.
Aemma and the C section… I couldn‘t hold back my tears. In the book emotions were missing but the show absolutely did it. Daemon is my favorite character and Matt Smith did amazing in portraying him
I loved this episode. What a way to start this series! It amazes me how many thoughts and decisions were made in only 60 minutes. I'm glad to see strong writing back in the GOT universe!
The first episode of HOTD is just WOW. Some reviews DARED to say that it doesn't have that "hook" that the original series did... THEY ARE WRONG. I AM HOOKED.
Amazing work, really enjoyed the first episode. I love the direction they took with aemmas death I think it added emotion that was needed and I wasn't expecting it. The character development has been given a great start, I feel I can already somewhat understand some of the characters. Already in love with daemon. Gold star guys x
Simply amazing and awesome. Hated season 8, but episode one was amazing and a great re introduction to what game of thrones season 7 and 8 should’ve been. I’m sure this story will deliver and respect the source material, unlike Amazon’s garbage and disgrace to Tolkien.
Milly Alcock was a phenomenal Rhaenyra casting. I’m curious to see what she thought in certain scenes in the opening like for example 1. The interaction where Ser Harrold calls her dragon a golden beast or the resulting conversation with Alicent Hightower where Alicent wants to stay grounded despite the fact that her friend loves being up in the air on a dragon. 2. Seeing Ser Cristina Cole after he beat her uncle. 3 at the very end when she had to cremate her mother and brother
i was jumping from one character or actor to the other, thinking they killed it, and then realised how balanced this episode was in terms of introducing every important character, and them getting just the right time and focus on story.
I haven't seen all of GOT, I've only watched a few episodes of the first season but was reluctant to finish it at the time, because of how it ended but I have to say, this episode certainly has one of the best openings of any fantasy series and is definitely up there with some of the top tv shows in this age. Can't wait for the upcoming episodes.
Fantastic first episode. I love the symbolism with the tourney and the birthing scene. It was so visceral. And I kind of really love Daemon. Matt smith did a fantastic job by really layering Daemon and showing the complexities of his personality. Paddy did a great job with Viserys too. You can tell he is under so much strain and yet he keeps it together for everyone else's sake. Amazing performances.
Thank you so much for giving us a glimpse inside this episode. The episode blew my mind. I'm not GOT book reader but I love the shows and having this explained helps a lot. 👍
The void which got created from the absence of GOT is now filled. There are mentions of Daenerys Targaryen. We all still miss her. Rhaenyra reminds us of young Daenerys . They started with the episode with the house of dragon theme and ended it with the GOT theme. It was so soothing and promising at the same time.
I think also it was clever how they displayed the edgy relationship between Daemon & Hightower and how it continued from the small council to the Tourney. Even how Alicent gave Daemon the wreath was like icing on a cake for viewers and a nail in the coffin for Otto.
Wonderful episode. The first 15 minutes worried me (too much emotional exposition), but then Daemon appeared - and the poetic writing from early Thrones came back! What a wonderfully conflicting character. Loved the overt sexism too. A Dance of Dragons really is all about sexism. The Throne spurned Viserys and he will pay the price!
¡Impresionante episodio! ¡Una obra de arte! La forma cómo dejó instalado el tablero presentando a los personajes y los potenciales conflictos que se vienen... ¡es cómo ver a un maestro jugando ajedrez! ¡Felicitaciones!
I was so disappointed with the last season of G.O.T. that I was set to not watch this show. Saw the trailer and was impressed. So I watched the episode and was blown away. The child birth seen did me in. Couldn't hold back the tears. The whole episode was amazing. I can only hope that the rest of this season is like this. Thank you. I also loved that you kept the breaking down of the episode for those of us who haven't read the books. Helps explain a lot.
Great first episode. I was a little sad when the king told his daughter about the prophecy of the white walkers etc when we know that it's actually not a big deal at all. They march to winter fell and get destroyed by a single young woman who manages to speak up on the night King. Its super easy, barely an inconvenience.
After hearing that jon snow will have a spin-off sequel in the form of a season 9 this will only make me happyer. If the show prison break has managed to come up with a new season after so many years, the best series of all time can do this too to get a redemption arc.
The mix of subtlety and on the nose gratuity in the birthing scene felt like peak Game of Thrones. It makes me happy that episode one was as good as it was.
Absolutely amazing opening. This is true Game of Thrones! This the dark fantasy we loved and cared for. A masterpiece with just few minor, below average, insignificant things. I was afraid AF going forward but it just made it all the sweeter to say. WE'RE BACK!
Love how Deamon is both bad and sympatethic like real humans. Been looking forward to this show for so long and was afraid of being let down - but it seems like it has the potential to bee even better than GoT!
The C section scene! I found that so difficult to watch! It was so well done and incredible! The raw pain and fear! Matts portrayal of Daemon is so far brilliant! The pyre scene showing that he does care about his family. Brilliant choice!
The birth scene kind of shocked me to the core...even if I knew what to expect...the reenacting of the scene was so shocking, I almost felt the pain... Also, Daemon butchering the criminals on the walls of KL was brutal and amazing !! First episode slayed, but I honestly expected that!
I expected my main takeaway from the pilot of a show about dragon riding royals to be... Well, DRAGONS. Instead I'm over here in the existential trap of thinking about how childbirth in the middle ages was fucking brutal. You know a scene was hauntingly good when it stays with you for the remainder of your day. Absolutely a great start to this series. I also appreciate they stepped up the dialogue quality - it's just miles above what later GoT seasons got comfortable shoving down our throats. No more bad poosies and overmodernized, oversimplified speech. Good to be treated with some level of respect as an audience again.
Episode 1 exceeded my expectations!! I've watched it 2x already. The creators of this new series is doing very well so far. Excited for what's to come. Thank you!!
im not gonna lie i had heavy heavy doubts about this show and i was never fond of the targaryens in the first place but they honestly nailed the pilot and i'm so excited to see what comes next
I couldn't tell by the trailers which, if any, of the characters I would end up liking but I'm pleasantly surprised by the young Rhaenyra. Wish they could have used her moving forward in time.
I ended up reading the books after going up to season 3 of GoT. And have done so for World of ice and fire, fire and blood AND the dunk and egg novellas too. Its quite fun being 'in the know' at the start this time. I look forward to seeing the speculation from those that have not read Fire and Blood, and shall try to keep them in mind when posting comments here in the weeks and years to come
i love the confrontation between Viseris and Damon in the end it is a great example of George "the human heart in conflict against it self" Viseris who knew the precedent set by his grandfather forgot it the moment of grief and anger for his brother drunk behavior and for this he will doom the realm and his house and dragons.
I hoped Ryan Condal would make something great after seeing his Sci Fi show Colony. It had it's dumb moments, but the characters were all solid and it seems he's carried over that quality to HOTD which has me excited.
Imma be real, I had SUPER LOW expectations for this series. I’m very impressed from the first episode. If the first episode is any indicator for the rest of the series I’d say they found a team that can faithfully adapt George RR martins work. If only they’d reboot the original series starting back to season 5 beginning.
Aemma and the C section… I couldn‘t hold back my tears. In the book emotions were missing but the show absolutely did it. Daemon is my favorite character and Matt Smith did amazing in portraying him
Rhaenyra was so strong at funeral. You can hear her trying to pull herself together because she sees her father is unable to do anything so she takes a breath and utters a courageous Dracarys.
I feel putting direct violence in the melee part of the tourney is a mistake. It gives a false impression as the melees are supposed to not be fights to the death. It also undercuts the violence of the jousting between ser Criston and Prince Daemon, when Daemon decides to continue the struggle and uses his Valyrian steel sword. In tourney most commonly they used blunted practice weapons. When Daemon draws live steel that shows how reckless he is being. Now we assume this is a normal thing.
@Pinkypunks32 The showrunners are absolutely free to do whatever they want with it. I just think the point of the fight between Daemon and Criston was to show how volatile and irresponsible Daemon is by not only using live steel, when normal tourney weapons are supposed to be blunted, but Valyrian steel, which can cut through both weapons and armor made from regular steel. But even with blunted weapons tourneys are dangerous. Blunt force trauma can come in both jousting and melee, and you saw what happened to that Hightower knight when he fell off his horse. I suspect he was seriously injured at least, if not crippled or maimed.
I honestly thought one wouldnt come alive in a melee/jousting cause in GOT there's always one dead after these scenes hahaha I was actually surprised some are alive in the tourney😂
What I think is that Otto is pretty much a combo of Littlefinger and Varys, he is that great ambition portrayed so far but also in his own sense cares about the realm. I might me wrong but that is what this seems like. Also Daemon's attitude and charisma is pretty much like Jaimie's
I absolutely loved the first episode. I do have some nitpicking though as it was weird to see not one but two northern houses have knights in armor present at the tourney. I mean don't get me wrong the armor designs were cool its just that Northerners didn't really joust or go to tourneys with House Manderly being the exception. They could maybe have replaced either the Stark or Bolton knight with a Manderly. Other than that everything about this episode was epic and it put me right back into the feels of Season 4 Game of Thrones.
While northerners dont have knights, it's not so uncommon. For example, the Manderlys in the books were originally from the reach. They fled persecution thousands of years ago and found refuge in the north, where the Starks gave them land and raised them up as lords. But though they adopted Northern customs, they still keep to the seven and the traditions of knighthpod. Also, you have a lot of northern houses also marrying into southern houses and intermingling traditions. So it's not so weird.
@UNO Roeslan No it wasn't uncommon for northerners to become knights. You had people like Ser Rodrik Cassel who served House Stark. Like I said I was just nitpicking. The armor and the tourney was epic. The killing afterwards was a bit excessive though. Knights would continue to fight in melee on foot after unhorsing an opponent but usually it would be with blunted weapons and they'd giver their opponents chance to yield. I guess part of the violence was to illustrate how hungry all these knights are for a war.
It's probably the northern houses hired tourney knights to represent their houses just to participate dat event... They may not even care bout who's winning or be the highlight of the event. Just to participate for the king's favour Plus, it could be beneficial for said tourney knights to raise their family name within the realm if they would be the top champion of the tourney events. or am I just overthinking bout some non-existent details
Amazing re entry into the world Really looking forward to seeing everything play out You know is good when the nerd channels aren't saying anything about it lol
The Song of Ice and Fire finally takes the Targaryens from ambitious and overly powerful outsiders to rightful monarchs of the world they claim to rule. Not a birthright, but a burden of duty. "Protector of the Realm" is a title Aegon l chose very carefully.
This first episode feels very short or is it just me? Also I'd love to watch more dialogues and character building. So far I have this nagging sense that the characters are being told to me rather than shown. I hope that doesn't continue on the upcoming episodes, fingers crossed. The action and the dragons are great but what makes GoT the legendary show that it was was the political intrigue and beautifully built complex characters. I hope this show doesn't miss on that mark.
You get a much better perspective of the enormity of harrenhall from that one scene at the start compared to the original show. And the tourney scene is much more fitting of a royal event than the hands tourney from got that only had 20-30 spectators. These guys have really put the work in to make a much more faithful adaptation.
@SuddenImpulse030 for 6 seasons. Seasons 7 and 8 had some great moments despite the stupidly unnecessary hate. Graphics wers better, acting and music quality stayed the same. Storywise it's a different story but everyone likes to overlook the good parts.
I definitely think HBO sat back and reflected on the response to the later seasons of GOT. They have decided to put fans in charge of the writing now as well as having GRRM back on as a producer. All good choices in my opinion and gives me hope for this show.
Fantastic first episode!! The intro gave me goosebumps, as did the references to the Song of Ice and Fire. Not to mention Ramin's tunes. THANK YOU for using the proper music and not doing a Star Wars on us. Can't wait for the rest!

It's not too much to say it's the best opening episode of any series I have seen this year.
@Joakim Jonsson I don't know if I'm your God, but okay.
Omg really??
I was really scared for a short moment that the princess's little maid was sent to the king to sleep with him or that the creepy uncle wanted something from her... the actress is so young, sweet, pretty and pure i REALLY hope they spare her in the series or i will stop watching even the opening was quite solid (even i am still not a fan of the brothel scenes...)
@Mason Hahahahahaha 😂 that’s hilarious.
Daemon is my favorite character and Matt Smith did amazing in portraying him ❤️
@DrDisInfect 😷 You can look on my channel for all episodes of house of the dragon, S1 e1 has been uploaded
@shockthemonkey16 well, everyone have their own opinions, i wouldn’t forget my partner for choosing a baby over me. especially if it was never mentioned before (the possibility) ( sorry my bad english)
@DrDisInfect 😷 omg you’re so cool and edgy here’s a medal 🏅
My only complaint is that I could not stop seeing Dr Who. One of the genius elements of GOT is that none of the actors were stars of any kind.

I would like to point out that Emma D'Arcy actually IS in the first episode - Emma is the narrator of the first scene.
So, you are saying that Milly will not be playing Rhaenyra throughout the show? I am hoping so. I cannot stand to look at her. Too monkey looking.
@Ellie oh she totally does! I was like “she kinda looks like someone but idk who”
Ya she’s like an older Hunter
@Ellie I thought the same!
Emma D'arcy looks like Hunter Schafer from Euphoria.
The prophecy was by far the dumbest thing about the episode. It adds nothing at all to the story.
@Chris G clip-share.net/video/1Phh5AS3uMY/video.html video from years ago where George said he saw what was coming.
I disagree tbh. He didnt do anything special, he was just... Standing
I see a whole ton of Emmys' coming his way
I don't like the prophecy BS because I worry they will use it as motivation for Rhaenyras actions throughout the show.
Otto is Littlefringer from wish :D
Yeah I mean the Hightowers, be it male or female, are the biggest schemers in the whole realm, also in a song of ice and fire
This is the reason his daughter came out on twitter and said she wasn’t the true villain. Otto is the villain.
@Drago Spinx Bro that just him subtly hinting at what he might do and he recognizes the same ambition in Otto that's why he doesn't like him
@Amanda The King didn't act from malicious or evil motives, he made a desperate attempt to save his son when it became clear his wife was going to die anyway. And was heartbroken afterwards. As a king who needs an heir it was the logical decision to make and not a crime, in his society and world at least. So I really doubt this is something that will be avenged or that someone would even consider that it should be avenged.
Well done Ryan and Miguel and everyone else involved. You honored GRRM work but still made it your own. I really loved Paddy’s performance.
Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in. If that first episode is a sign of things to come then bravo. HBO has another masterpiece it can add to its long list of amazing shows.
@vega21 frfr, I have MY problems with how the OG show ended like most, but dammit let it go already 🤷🏿♂️🙄
@TheUltimateNewPlayer let it go. This is different. D &D aren't involved lol
@Chindim Goodanproppa did I hurt your Internet feelings?
Perfect first episode to introduce the story leading to the Dance of Dragons. Milly, Paddy, and Matt all nailed their parts as Targaryens while Rhys clearly established himself as a great conspiring figure in his own game of thrones while involving Alicent
@Brendon Smith Yes he's already sus to me...
The fact we don't hear of them or the Valerian family in the original #GoT says to me they don't make it out of this dance of dragons
@Ramon Carneiro Otto Hightower’s actor
Who is Rhys?
clip-share.net/video/1HQDfGu1-tA/video.html
I think everybody agrees that this episode, this first episode was pure absolutely gold in every way, if they put this amount of hype on this episode, omg I can't imagine the end of this season, amazing job...
You'll see, at the end there will be a big reveal. You all think that it'll go a certain a way, but it wont... It's going to be very interesting
Some of the writing was weak BUT they got the spirit. I liked how many flags they showed compared to the original show. We see the flags for main and sub houses like house cole, dondarion, valeryon, Hightower. I got hope for this series
Great to be back! Hats off guys, can’t wait for the rest of the eps.
it waS great
The episode was very beautiful, thank you hbo for the legendary series
clip-share.net/video/1HQDfGu1-tA/video.html
same it was great
It was probably the most information packed, event filled, visually great, greatly acted pilot episode, I ever saw.
hbo supremacy
I hope they mention how Viserys, despite seeming so amiable and even pliable sometiems, was Balerion the Black Dread's last rider- and that he claimed the ancient beast for himself when he was a child. To be clear, Balerion was so large he could swallow mammoths whole. Viserys did NOT lack for nerve.
@K M T I LOVED that about Viserys: He understood the city had a crime problem and tolerated Daemon's actions that one time because the Gold Cloaks needed to assert their dominance.
Balerion was also big enough to cast his shadow over entire towns.
@Joshua Adams That happened decades prior and he returned injured
@Joshua Adams That doesn't count as a rider. She had no real control over him and was basically just clinging onto his back helplessly. So yeah he did have some exercise maybe but since then it had been half a century since he flew or had a rider.
Maegor rode Balerion and he was the worst king we know of.
You know... *that* one.
I think they'll so that. Not like other shows with stupid timelines, which is reassuring
The birth scene was amazing, better than I expected. To put it as a battleground also, gives respect to women who give birth. Very important
@Andrew Laxton Perhaps they could - I never said they couldn't. This show's book isn't written half as well as the first 3 from ASoIaF though.
@Shanos Ummesteros this show is based on a book too. So, why should we think D&D couldn’t do a good job with this either?
@milodudeful that was just a rumor
Honestly what a great start and episode. The summary, the character introductions, the dragons everything was perfect.
Aemma’s death is so painful to watch, it really gave me that emotion so powerful i was crying up to the end. The secret of the kings passed by aegon was so great too!!
first episode was stunning, one of the best openings to a series EVER.
Viserys talking about Aegon's dream "The Song of Ice and Fire" gave me chills.
Then I remember Episode 6 of the Last Season of Game of Thrones.
@Colby Sullivan Yeah my bad.
WHAT AN EPISODE. Miguel and the entire team, you are amazing.
Such a well-written line. I hope they bring it back as prophesy is fulfilled. Down the line.
Mental. It hooked me big time. Tragedy, conflict, romance, violence, it had everything.
Amazing work, really enjoyed the first episode. I love the direction they took with aemmas death I think it added emotion that was needed and I wasn't expecting it. The character development has been given a great start, I feel I can already somewhat understand some of the characters. Already in love with daemon. Gold star guys x
clip-share.net/video/1HQDfGu1-tA/video.html
Everyone, you did a fantastic job with this first episode! I missed this world so much, so thank you all for creating this show!
i was jumping from one character or actor to the other, thinking they killed it, and then realised how balanced this episode was in terms of introducing every important character, and them getting just the right time and focus on story.
This first episode was amazing! I was hopeful for it to be good, but this was so much more. I love it, can't wait to see the rest!
Loved it. Can wait to see where the story goes.
It was so soothing and promising at the same time.
miguel was on the ball with cutting the tourney the way he did, amazing editing and i loved every moment
Muito bom esse início de série, parabéns a equipe dos criadores da série!!!
was truly pleasantly surprised! the cgi could do way better but everything else was quite what you should expect! keep it up!
I think also it was clever how they displayed the edgy relationship between Daemon & Hightower and how it continued from the small council to the Tourney. Even how Alicent gave Daemon the wreath was like icing on a cake for viewers and a nail in the coffin for Otto.
Really got the feeling of when Galadriel speaks about the kings in the first Lord Of The Rings, really impressed with the first episode!
I loved it! So far I’m really loving where this is going. I hope it continues to impress!
WE'RE BACK!
Great work! Love to see how everything comes together!
clip-share.net/video/1HQDfGu1-tA/video.html
Love how Deamon is both bad and sympatethic like real humans. Been looking forward to this show for so long and was afraid of being let down - but it seems like it has the potential to bee even better than GoT!
CHEERS TO MATT SMITH"S RETURN TO DOING SERIOUS ROLES NOW! The man delivered his part of Daemon
The C section scene! I found that so difficult to watch! It was so well done and incredible! The raw pain and fear! Matts portrayal of Daemon is so far brilliant! The pyre scene showing that he does care about his family. Brilliant choice!
Absolutely amazing set up to the rest of the season I can't wait for more
The birth scene kind of shocked me to the core...even if I knew what to expect...the reenacting of the scene was so shocking, I almost felt the pain...
Bravo what a great episode, hope they continue this quality of writing in next episodes....really like it all...we need to expand this universe....
This first episode was suprisingely great, kudos to the team behind it. 🐉🔥Cannot wait for rest of the season. 👍👍👍
Wish they could have used her moving forward in time.
amazing episode. totally 100% full gas into old school game of thrones palace intrigue. real people real choices. love it.
Daemon is my favorite character and Matt Smith did amazing in portraying him
Why did you copy someone elses comment? I am just curious.
Loved the episode tonight! Well done! The Dragons are the Nukes of that era…
And imagine the weapons hoarded by just a single country and only they know howto wield them
clip-share.net/video/1HQDfGu1-tA/video.html
Just to participate for the king's favour
Plus, it could be beneficial for said tourney knights to raise their family name within the realm if they would be the top champion of the tourney events.
or am I just overthinking bout some non-existent details
So pleased with the positive feedback 🥰 so well deserved
Amazing re entry into the world
Really looking forward to seeing everything play out
You know is good when the nerd channels aren't saying anything about it lol
What a great start. I really feel like I'm back in Westeros, exactly as it was (but earlier, of course).
@Carly Crays It was fucking magnificent.
The best part was just being in the palace and feeling like you came home.
I’m happy to say the first episode was good. Let’s hope they can maintain this level of quality for 9 more episodes and we are back in business lol.
The Song of Ice and Fire finally takes the Targaryens from ambitious and overly powerful outsiders to rightful monarchs of the world they claim to rule. Not a birthright, but a burden of duty. "Protector of the Realm" is a title Aegon l chose very carefully.
The secret of the song of fire and ice passed from king to its heir gave me goosebumps ! Didn't expect that !
Man just one episode and bang-on-the-spot screenplay, cast, VFX, background, pace
and the mighty Iron throne was mesmerizing.
Really enjoyed this episode. I can't wait for the next one
Tremendous start, this could reach GoT levels of hype, just you wait.
@The Hoopman ….. because of GRRM, you know nothing Hoopman
@pratyS we agree to disagree
@Unknown Warrior nah Only GoT 1-4 is 10/10, 5 is 9/10 you could start seeing some of the cracks, 6 Id say 8/10, rest is 5/10
This series is going to be huge, don't care what anyone says.
"just when I thought I was out .. they pulled me back in"
Incredible episode.
You guys nailed it. Great job HBO! 👏🏽
I love being able to watch a new Inside the Episode without having to stand D&D and their incompetence. GOT is back
Fantastic first episode!! The intro gave me goosebumps, as did the references to the Song of Ice and Fire. Not to mention Ramin's tunes. THANK YOU for using the proper music and not doing a Star Wars on us. Can't wait for the rest!
I am satisfied with the first episode that was so well done.
Fantastic. Political, intriguing, characters are well realised. That's all we wanted.
I found the epsiode very interesting every sequence holds you to watch it. Very well directed , but i hope they do not disappoint like S8
Rhaenyra ordering the cremation instead of Viserys really revealed a lot about the characters without tons of lofty dialogue.
