  • By the time Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. President Joe Biden in June 2021 for a summit in Geneva, Switzerland, the two men already had a long and contentious history. Watch an excerpt from “Putin and the Presidents.”
This journalism is made possible by viewers like you. Support your local PBS station here: www.pbs.org/donate.
Drawing on in-depth conversations with insiders from five U.S. presidential administrations, former U.S. intelligence leaders, diplomats, Russian politicians, authors and journalists, “Putin and the Presidents” reveals how the miscalculations and missteps of multiple American presidents over two decades paved the way for Putin’s attack on Ukraine - and offers unique insight into the relationship between Putin and Biden.
“They're children of the Cold War and they see each other and their countries through the Cold War,” Peter Baker of The New York Times says of the two men in the above excerpt from “Putin and the Presidents.” “Biden saw Putin for what he is: a KGB revanchist who wants to remake the Russian empire.”

@Christopher Toledo I disagree I believe in ardent action, like that which America and German are doing in their coalition of sending tanks for support which is creating a resistance front. We must make decisions because we are acting on the world stage, changing ourselves and the world around us. Any sense of apathy towards our brothers and sisters and any deviation to work on our own “immigrant issues” is insipid. There is an ever so self evident sense of urgency in the air. This anticipation for action shouldn’t draw us into a depressant mode of consciousness even if it seems in vain!

Pbs your coverage about Ukraine Crisis , however impressive they might appear, still displays a very biased and unfair analysis in the spirit of the clarity and objectivity.
It remains imperative to explore opinions from both sides of the conflict.
There is a history to this conflict, filled with broken promises and betrayals of trust and agreements.
This war is highly regrettable and unfortunately avoidable by all sides involved.

Just as America cannot change its own constitution, it is impossible for Russia to change the constitution of the Soviet Union. Therefore, the previous constitution will remain in place and Russia will have to bear the full cost of making war-torn Ukraine livable again.

I'm from Russia. I understand that we are enemies at the level of genetics...
After all, Putin has been talking about NATO for 20 years... he said that all NATO equipment was moving...
would the US really like it if Wagner instructors showed up in Mexico?

      Are you really my enemy?
I don’t know you, but you are a fellow traveler on this little blue planet of ours.
I don’t know what city you live in, but I value your right to live there without fear of attack.
As far as Ukraine is concerned…if you like your neighbor’s roses, you are more likely to get some if you ask your neighbor nicely. If you break down their fence and destroy the rose bush yanking off the flowers, your neighbor will never forget your behavior. They will make friends with the other neighbors who are polite.

LOL as if Mexico would entertain Wagner Group in the first place! The Cartels would eat your mercenaries alive before the U.S. could say anything.

Im so sick of Biden. He just made immigration easier with the laws passing at the end of the year, fast tracking green cards, loosening requirements. People applying for green cards through marriage, aren't even required to have an interview with immigration. Our national security is heartbreaking to people who have fought for America in the military. The number one task of a government is to provide national security.
How are we paying taxpayer dollars to secure a country's boarder but we are just going to allow ours to be as porious as Swiss cheese?
    Our obligation is to America

    • Bixby Snyder

You know without immigration, the US would have a declining birth rate right? Legal immigration is great for an economy. And as I doubt you're native American, I can't understand your hatred of legal immigration 🤷‍♂️

Frontline, you have joined the mainstream. You should be embarrassed, calling this journalism.
Please produce programming that is as accurate and non biased as possible.
The media saturation in this country is what’s creating all this tension.
Tell the story just the way it is and please be better journalist.

    • Anthony Cook

My feeling here is that 'Mike' is really Mikhail. I say that because the Russian language has no articles (i.e. no 'a', 'an' or 'the'), which is why when Russian people speak English, they often produce phrases like "please be better journalist", without the 'a'.
Also, in Russian writing, there are different rules about how to organise paragraphs. And we can see 'Mike' has paragraphed his message quite strangely here, going to a new line after each sentence. He's also forgotten to leave a free line between the paras, as most English-speakers do.
So there you go, 'Mike'. A free language lesson 🙂
(And sorry if English really is your first language - but hey, if so, I've saved you from having to sign up to Grammarly and get ripped off by those sharks ;-) )

@sshender I’ve watched him several times this last month-both old videos and ones newly uploaded on his channel. I have no reason to doubt him and the stuff his says sounds pretty accurate , but he does seem overconfident and talks in absolutes which I don’t like. Otherwise he’s quite entertaining and does seem to call out when he’s wrong
