Messi’s Mexico goal was the best moment of the tournament. It saved them
And being gifted 4 penalties in tournament helps to
Cry 😢😂
@Mess iisapigcry more 😅
@Mess iisapig And only one call (saudi Arabia) was questionable. The rest are pens whether you like it or not 👍
Why do you think penalties are called? Maybe because the defenses can’t keep up and either commit sloppy falls or intentional falls. But you wouldn’t know that. Since you know nothing about football.
That Alvarez goal felt like a FIFA 2008 goal.
That $ht was poetry
Those corrupt refs felt like 2002 wc
@Stan Smith 🤣🤣🤣
Which refs? The ones that didn’t call the handball or arm contact (penalty ) Against Croatia today? Those have to be the same ref you’re talking about??? lmaooooo
Nobody on Croatia wanted to press circle! ⭕
@Stan Smithclear pen
There are no more words to describe Messi. Simply the GOAT. We may never see anyone like him ever again.
We will never
Stop it man overhyped
Ronaldo:. 👀😢
Who’s knows. They said the same about Maradona and then we had Messi
Argentina haven’t conceded more then 2 shots on target against their goal in any game.
Saudi Arabia: 2
Mexico: 1
Poland: 0
Australia: 1
Netherlands: 2
Croatia: 2
I have to disagree with Shaka when he said the defining moment of the world cup for Messi was the assist against the Netherlands. When his country needed him most. When his country had their back against the wall in a game with lots of aggression and nerves. He delivers against Mexico. That goal relieved all the tension in the game the explosion in the celebration. The goal that sent shivers down the spine of many relieving them of all the built-up stress. That set the tone for Argentina at this world cup. He showed that he can be Argentina's magic man. VIVA LE MESSI. LONG LIVE THE GOAT. 🐐👑
Yep. That was the defining moment, 25 minutes away from being knocked out of the world cup and there were so many jitters and Argentina looked nowhere near convincing and then that happened. Blew the roof of the stadium.
The Mexico Game was the defining momento
Yes it’s was Mexico ! Even Aimar got emotional . Even messi .
Agreed. That shot only had 0.02xg as well. Messi basically created the goal out of nothing at a time Argentina needed it the most.
Absolutely right about that. The frustration the pressure the fear of defeat he just erased all that with his brilliance 🔥🙌
That assist in the Netherlands game by Messi was simply magnificent
The assist for the 3rd goal today was also stunning. Vintage Messi
That that assist is the move of the world cup for me. He took out no less than 6 players with that pass.
Absolutely one of the greatest passes ever. Vision snd awareness was incredible. I actually think he used peripheral vision and not knowing the player was there like Frank said. All the greatest players have ridiculous peripheral vision
As a Croatian I can be nothing but proud of Croatia for a nation that small to get 2nd in 2018 and possibly 3rd this year !!! I hope messi actually gets the job done this time and it’s not 2014 all over again
They knew what Messi went through
Croatia has become everyone’s second favourite team in international football. They play with no fear. They’re no longer a small country in football. I hope they continue on this path and hopefully win the Euros and World Cup in the future.
Fantastic team mate with a country not even half the population of my city.
Fifa are busy ensuring he “ gets the job done “ don’t worry
How Argentinean I can say Croatia is one of the big selection for various minutes when Croatia yesterday take the control of the ball I observe similar game how here in Argentina clubs so that mean really there is the way! Good selection good players and the most important good persons my respect for Croatians!
So happy Alvarez is getting much deserved plaudits. As a City fan, we’re so blessed to have him and I hope Pep can figure out a way to utilize him more as it must be hard living in Haaland’s shadow. Much love for Messi, Alvarez & Argentina!💙💙💙 1 more game to go!!!
Honestly if he doesn't get more playing time he should leave, would be a starter at most top teams
@Mar r I do fear that could happen which is why I hope Pep does something to incorporate him more.
@Mar r pep prefers him over anyother striker. he will soon be getting more time than haaland
@chaitanya dasa cee why cant they both play sametime
I hope he leaves City because he doesn’t deserve to be a bench player. Go to Chelsea or something because they need a striker. Or go to Bayern because let’s be honest, Choupo-Moting isn’t exactly that great a player
Surprised that the work rate of Alvarez isn’t being highlighted more. He has been everywhere for Argentina this tournament 👏🏼
Seriously he is moving like crazy glad his been starting this tournament he is the difference maker for them just hope we get to see Di Maria enter that triple threat and it can be raps
Definitely
Messi is always just lackadaisically just kind of walking around... Until he isn’t. He’s not the teams engine. He’s the magic man.
I said it before and I say again.
Lionel Messi is the greatest player I have seen. The greatest playmaker, the greatest dribbler and he sent the entire Croatian defense to kindergarten. Messi Alvarez duo will destroy anyone they face in the final.
Alvarez's pressing is fun to watch. Prime Suarez like. The team as a whole is feisty as heck.... don't let the stats fool you.
🤣🤣 so great when the refs are helping you with those goal numbers
Stats not fooling me and you might have some anti Messi agenda. Alvarez was great with pressing and he was clinical but Messi assisted him twice. Messi is the backbone of this team and if you disagree then you need help
@Stacy L yeah the ref dribbled and assisted Alvarez🤣🤣🤣
@Stacy L Stacy, stick to watching the Kardashians and don't talk about football
the entire Argentine fans in the stadium applauded Modric as he was leaving. Much respect to that legend from Argentina.🇦🇷❤️🇭🇷
When I saw the lineup of Arg, I was relieved. Scaloni knew Croatia was a midfield powerhouse, and to counter it the only way is to overload the midfield so the supply to attack gets cut. Also even after 2 goal lead they kept attacking. This shows mature management from Scaloni.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment

There's something about Alvarez's second goal that nobody mentioned. As he's coming to the goal area, one of his teammates makes a diagonal right-to-left screen sprint across the area and drags one of the centerbacks with him, who thinks he might get the pass. That opens the space for Julián to charge through, take the rebound on the defender with his chest and volley it past the keeper. Reminded me a lot of what Kempes and Luque used to do in 78'. Smart can opener.
I was thinking the same, he deserves a good credit for that solo run goal!
I just thought the same it was kempes again, but a small kempes agaisnt giant defenders... crazy.
Yup. That was Molina. That was very important.
Talkfcb mentioned it.
It's a textbook off-ball movement tho. Not to take away from the movement, but most smart players will do the same thing; it's just that it was especially useful here.
Messi and Alvarez were astounding! But Argentina’s defense was great as well! Tagliafico had an amazing game, and Otamendi, Romero and Martinez great as always!
But the ref against netherlands and the ref today were both mvps for making it easy for argentina
@Stan Smith The worst part is I know you don’t believe that yourself. I know you can tell yourself that the ref helped Argentina when they won 3-0. You know you’re lying. Just stop.
@TiroDeEsquina.... This guy is everywhere....spreading toxicity...
@meedun raj last i heard that he has a crush on Ronaldo and he has posted Ronaldo's posters everywhere in his room.
@Stan Smith Sure Jan
The Messi defining moment of this World Cup was the goal against Mexico. That goal was so important
Sadly, none of the haters can't name their hero/idol doing or acheiving such. 6 International finals by one player in his life span. No other player have done it for his country, win or lose. GOAT.
Context matters copa America used to be every 3-4 years but in recent years it became a yearly thing because of money. So it's not that impressive
@chav inho 77 still 2 World Cup finals for Messi vs 0 World final for Penaldo 🤣
lmao you know what you doing
@chav inho 77 so you are saying if Copa was or will be in 2022/2023/24/25 etc etc Messi can’t win that 😂. What about This WC. I knw for you Euro is more great,competitive and challenging tournaments than World Cup. Logic 😂😂😂
@chav inho 77 it was actually every two years and they have changed it to every four recently but there has been the special 100 year Copa America.
Don't they know Messi just walks and scans the field and picks good moments? 😂😂😂 He's been doing this for years now. He doesn't even need to run. It's incredible to watch him just walking and scanning
for pppl who thinks messi is lazy or arrogant when spotting him walking alot. he is 35 and reads the game and opponents for his and teams benefit. he use his form, skills and experience perfect for a competition like a WC to not get injured or do mistakes. it's very calculated and with an immense pressure. Now he is in a final again and close to his life long missing achievement. total tactical perfection from messi this WC. he really deserves this throphy.
The late Kobe Bryant spoke about this as well. Rather than playing less minutes when you get old, great players need to learn how to conserve their energy on the court/pitch.
Mbappe also desrves his second trophy as well.
And the haters also missed that he did a lot of effective defending on Argentina's right wing.
It's just called picking spots and resting on the pitch
Its his play style since the start , what a great vision he has
Messi at 35 still undeniably the best player in the world, which I’ve always said even when this man had his first season at psg, I never doubt my goat Cus I know what he can and will do when he’s in the mood. It’s never been a contest with that other guy besides goals accolades and stats, but as a player no one is on this man’s level. He even has the other true goat Ronaldinho coming to watch and support him. The man still controls pace of game, is the best dribbler on the field, the best passer, best set piece, clutch scorer. First touch and football IQ, stop comparing anyone to Messi, once he’s won the World Cup it’s over for you punks😂, even without wc he’s been to two wc finals, he still the goat.
Croatia just lacked some good attackers. Their midfield controlled the game but the attackers kept losing the ball and left the defense exposed.
This has been their problem coming into this WC. They’ve come this far bcuz of great defense and the best midfield.
Coratia looked unmotivated after the ref didn't give them the corner before the pk and then gifted argentina the pk. That's when they realized the ref wasn't gonna let argentina loose
@Stacy L So you're saying the decided to toss the semi-final and WC title all together because ref didn't give them a corner? Lol
Well said my friend. A solid striker would have shown how close this game really was.
@Stacy L it was a clear pk unless you’re Stevie wonder himself
I am happy for Julian Alvarez. I think he deserves much appreciation and best support, what a player!! Wow, he just makes those attacking runs so good. Lautaro is still a good striker no doubt, but this guy has some charm.
Edited: 500+ likes 😳 Thanks for the love people.
I'm happy for the ref. He's getting a fat paycheck for that gift
@Stan Smith cry some more
@Stan Smith oh oh...😂😂😂😂someone's hurt😂😂😂
@Stan Smith😭😭😭
alvarez is clear of lautaro alvarez showed that he is a world class striker and that he is aguero's successor all the big clubs are going to want to buy him from city now as he doesnt play cause of haaland
I know Messi gets all the attention, But the Alvarez goal was a Gem, reminds of Thomas kempis goal
Croatia had 61% possession of the ball but Argentina won 3-0. As a longtime Barça & Lionel Messi fan, i don't care how they get it done as long as they win the final I'll be ecstatic. Lionel Messi was already the G.O.A.T. but winning the FIFA WC would be the icing on the cake of his career. Vamos Albiceleste🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Fifa will ensure it happens don’t fret .
@Nick Chemist cry more
@Nick Chemist why didn't fifa ensure it in 2014?
Having more procession doesn't mean they played better. Argentina played for a counter attack 80% of the time. They scored two of their goals by doing it.
Position is like spending your energy without reward, football is all about toutilize chances and deliver the results
The way Messi saves his energy for those 'moments' now he's 35, is as impressive as the actual moments themselves. Clever.
as much I'm happy for messi but what modric is doing at 37yo is something out of this world
modric is literally the Croatian Messi......he carried them on his back
I agree , and people are saying Ronaldo is old so that's why he can't carry his team but you see Modric on the same age as Ronaldo and he carried his team to the semi-finals
He’s a legend for sure.
@Akritas Digenisagreed
Modric needed a proper striker, real shame they had to go out 3 nil.
@Akritas Digenis he also carried Ronaldo in Madrid before that, and helped him winning those UCL titles. Ronaldo was badly exposed the moment he left Madrid thinking he was their "Messi".
Pep Guardiola better be playing Alvarez alongside Haaland!! Those two up at top would be lethal!! His performance in the World Cup has shown he can be the difference maker!!
As a united fan I’m really hoping he doesn’t find a way to make that duo work that would be too dangerous
@TheRealLast Jedi Lol
@TheRealLast Jedi Kinda hard to work I think Alvarez plays as a Forward which is same goes for Halaand so you meaan Guardiola changes his tactics to 2 Forwards? hmmm not sure but if it works that 's dope
Arsenal will sign to liberate him out of Haaland's shadow
Can't play 442 against good teams.
Messi going toe to toe with a defender much taller and heavier than him shows how actually strong he is.
It LOOKED easy. What it actually was, is a thorough shutting down of Croatia's play. They simply had no way through. To put this down to Messi's enduring brilliance or Alvarez's luck is to not understand team work.
Croatia are slow. They made messi look like 2009 messi. Look at all his fans getting giddy
Take it with a grain of salt. People in the UK understand a lot about the game they gave us, but nothing about the midfield. They actually think it has borders..
@Larry K cry me a river
Crotia had no way through on anyone. They don't know how to create opportunities that result in shots on goal. Pass allmday and possess all day, but if you don't shhot on goal , you lose.
The only reason we’re talking about if it’s a penalty is because it’s Argentina and people just don’t want Messi to lift all the trophies at the World Cup. Right now he’s in contention for the golden boot, the golden ball, and the World Cup trophy itself. That’s a clear penalty, it doesn’t matter if it was “intentional.” If I slide tackle and try to clear the ball but miss it and hit the opponent, it’s a penalty. Why are we subjecting ourselves to this?
they will even die from heart attack when messi win it,he will win it mark my words
He will, I dreamt last week we beat France in the finals 2-1 and won the World Cup,I woke up saying to myself and was wondering if it was a vision, it will happen, I believe it will
Maybe people Woodbridge hate if they were legit but penalties and if Argentina has class . They are thugs trying to steal
Trophy like 1978. Fifa is 🐐
Yea when Argentina won the game against Netherlands and I saw the blue and white celebrating I had dejavue of them winning the cup. I agree they are winning. Plus they haven’t even used Dimaria yet and I’m pretty sure lautaro has his confidence back after getting the winning penalty against Netherlands. France only have mbappe and a mediocre giroud
Exactly! Steve also gave the same example. Imagine the same situation happening outside the Box. It’s a clear foul.
I think the only reason that foul raised doubts about its legitimacy was because it was a poor finishing touch by Alvarez. One gets carried away when u consider it. And that’s the reason some pundits find it hard to accept it as a foul.
Messi has a poker face game style...He is calm but effective...
He knows fifa is on his side($$$)
@HaircutsOfExcelence fifa was on cr7 but you know how it went
Usually. Ever since Diego passed, Messi has been getting really emotional and combative, and that's been the difference. He looks like he GAFs these last two years.
@HaircutsOfExcelence i know right! He must have paid FIFA to let Gvardiol run past him!!!!
@HaircutsOfExcelence hahaha shutup
That goal against Mexico was his best moment cause people had lost 99% of belief at that point and he changed that...
the best part is messi steps up each and every game. it's like he's getting better and better which is scary
Croatian here...still not sure if that was penalty which practically turned the game...but that doesn't justify the fact we had no shots on the target for full 70 minutes. That alone doesn't qualify us to advance to the final and so, I must congratulate Argentina. And Messi...I hope he wins the cup, but wether he succeeds in that or not it won't change my mind that he's the best footballer I have ever seen...by far.
Penalty was never easy.... It is a mind game⚽ Lionel Messi executed perfectly against the Croats.....
I think Croatia started making more and more mistakes because they were deflated as their game plan was probably to either go 1-0 or go 0-0 the entire 90 and then go from there because Argentina would then be very frustrated. Going down 1-0 from a penalty due to a foul on your keeper, the player who was keeping you in all the knockout matches, was probably the worst way to concede.
Appreciate scaloni for flooding the mid and making Croatia uncomfortable. They kept pressing even after 90
It was a relief to see that Scaloni learned from his mistakes from the last two matches - playing park the bus after a two goal lead. He did gave me a start when he substituted Lisandro in and I thought here we go once more for the heart attack but they kept their offence going and that meant that the game was going to be finished in a clean manner.
@Naazahs he subbed in dybala and that’s what I knew he learned from his mistakes as well, he’s a smart coach who adapts each game
Messi holding his hamstring and walking around is mind games 😂😂, if you follow his around aimlessly after a minute or two on the field it would be ridiculous so often times the defenders forget about him and then Messi moment the next , The Goat
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment

Messi is too unpredictable right now. He has been more active 2nd half of matches , probably conserving energy due to his age and he knows he can do more damage to a fatigued opponent
Messi and Alvarez have great chemistry
Alvarez has proved that he can finish plays off and not choke them like Higuaín and Martinez 😭
Messi, Alvarez and the Ref 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@Stan Smith poor guy cry more
@happy_boy own that fraud
@happy_boy own
Penalty for me without question. And a yellow card as well. Good call from ref. Ref could have easily gave a handball for the Croatian defender cheekingly sticking his arm out even though he doesn't actually stick his arm out to block the ball. That was one of the most suttle things I've seen a player do and yet know what he was doing when his arm ever so slightly went towards the ball. I wouldn't have had a problem with a handball being called their
I wouldn't have given a yellow with the penalty kick. Keeper has the right of way and no damage was done to Julien. Easy spot kick call, though.
@A snark there was no play made for the ball by the keeper. Just because the goalkeeper had a spot doesn’t give him the excuse of clashing the player when there is a % chance that the ball is on target and the player can still take the shot. Totally a penalty.
@A snark Good thing you’re not the ref in that game then, you’re not qualified for it
Correct that was a handball when I saw it I laughed they tried cheeky stuff the keeper wasn't as lucky lol.
I share stevie’s views on messi’s penalty taking ability but he has upped his game this world cup, even his miss was a great save by Sczney
Thank you Messi didn't miss the penalty it was a very good save. Miss is when you kick the ball into the crowd or hit the post.
It was 100% a penalty. That’s a foul anywhere else on the pitch, and therefore a penalty. Perfection from Messi too. Also why does that graphic at 21:10 leave out the Finalissima, in which Messi got two assists?
It's not even controversial. People it seems just like to argue everything.
Stevie's right about the penalty. It was a "reverse" body check. Alvarez was already moving at speed and the goalie deliberately blocked him.
Shaka is dreading having no option other than call Messi the goat 🤣
It's so obvious that he doesn't like Messi and Argentina
@zola1282 he never have...He is a pro-Ronaldo
Shaka will never say that! He will say Messi needs to win more than 3 (i.e. more than Pele) to be considered the Goat!!
@Bruva There are better football experts in the mental asylums than Shaka
Can we talk about how good Argentina's defending has become. They lose the ball and recover it and everybody is running
Messi hasn't scored a free kick yet. 😂 He owes us that
and a hattrick.
It's only been mostly penalties 🤣 and one of them he missed
So you haters have nothing to do
@HaircutsOfExcelence and garbage Ronaldo only score a 1 penalty goal
Would love to see that
If this recap was gonna end without anyone mentioning that Gvardiol off all the defenders in the WC was supposed to be the one to be able to stop Lionel Messi.......I'd pop something. The best defender in the tournament and doing everything right in that moment, AND IT STILL WASN'T ENOUGH. Actual stuff of legends.
Julian Alvarez has had 18 months of otherworldly brilliance. I can’t wait to see him smash a goal in the final! 🕷 🤟
It’s nice that Messi has someone who he can rely on to finish what he set ups but the whole Argentine team was doing bits they’ve been coming clutch in many ways and deserve more credit
Brasil never tried those deep individual runs like Argentina did. I think that had some influence on the result
Scaloni masterclass
Well, when Messi is in the team and scores a spectacular goal, spotlight shifts to him but that Alvarez goal was equally good. Yes that first ricochet was lucky but the second one i felt was due to his quick feet and splendid movement in the box from molena which created the required space. Often players of Argentina don't get the due credit in this tournament the way they have maximised the current Messi version.
its sad to see grown men call Messi’s incredible passing as just pure luck. First against, netherlands. Now, against croatia….Messi’s been doing it all tournament, the players havent been converting those opportunities efficiently
The best thing Argentina did in this game is they didn't sit back after getting the goal advantage. They kept pressing higher up the pitch and which prevented croatia firing crosses into the box.
Messi’s moment was the Mexico goal for me
That was a pressure moment - 25mins from being knocked out
Yes!
Well they never realise the fact that coratia did not look good because Argentina did not allow them to do so!!..
Some defensive work was at the top level as well. And then the magic as usual from the magic man.!!
Finally someone gets it.
Yes ! Argentina is really solid defensively
Absolutely those tackles meant Croatia restart their game from behind again and again.
Good point! Ppl don’t seem to understand that Argentina works so well as a team in the midfield and defence area.
They really crowd the dangerous areas at the back at crucial times which nullifies the risk.
Once Argentina got really set in the match and established their flow, the defence, intersections and tackles and ball retrievals were just perfect.
Messi is a master at counting strides, Stevie! That is why he is able to pass that way, with or without looking. That is not a stroke of luck! That is masterful!
That penalty was simply a 50-50 call. Yes, the goalie "almost" kept his position, but you actually can see some application of force and a bit modification in position towards Alv at the end. Was close indeed, but isn't a ridiculous decision tbh.
Man Alvarez is so underrated, its not just about his goals or his finishing abilities. But his positioning is so good. He is always in the good position.
He’s a crack ! A youngster as well !
@Priscila Luquez yes
It was a clear penalty in any league. It was a clean 3 - 0. The difference in this game was that Argentina read Croatia game mode.
Argentina allowed Croatia possess the ball in the midfield ( see Croatia ball possession it was far more than Argentina ) but Argentina put a great defense and took advantage of its stickers.
Looking at Shaka, feels like he has come to attend a funeral… very painful for him to see Messi win!!!
😅😅😅😅
Ikr😂😂😂
Exactly!! 😂😂😂😂
The same man who predicted Argentina as winners and then changed to brazil! 😂
It was like this Croatia and the one that played against Brazil were completely different teams... You can argue about the penalty, but as a team I think you must prepare for a situation like this and they had no response to it... There were trailing against Japan and Brazil too and here they would have had more time to come back in the game than in the previous 2 games, but they couldn't. The second goal was a big deffending mistake, and the third one was a Messi masterclass.
Basically Croatia used the same tactic as they used against Brazil it worked back then cause Brazil is slow on final third they hold the ball longer than usual that gave Croatia time to regroup and defend if they quick with the feet they could have scored more than 4 goals against Croatia. Croatia always vulnerable against Counter attack their Midfield is the only positive thing in that squad it was even showed by Neymar when passed three defense including the Keeper to score goal shows how weak they are in defense when facing that kind of situation. Scaloni really did his homework and Argentina punish them with quick play in final third.
It was a penalty. The keeper wanted to block Alvarez to avoid being dribbled. You can tell by looking at the second goal, the keeper didn't seek contact.
Exactly. If goalie didn’t make contact Álvarez could have run around goalie and scored. 100% a penalty.
100%
The keeper moved forward to block the shot, and I repeat, SHOT from Alvarez, making all parts his body big, upper and lower. And when Alvarez mishits it, he moves toward the ball after it's going to be played by Croatian defenders and hits the keeper. Its not a pen for me, but the more important bit is that it's in no way clear cut, and VAR should've been involved.
@Fr8st timing was really poor from the keeper, blocking a rival player on the box is a penalty.
@Fr8st it’s a basic rule, if the keeper didn’t touch the ball then it’s a penalty
Magic number is 1. It's time to complete this mission!!!! Let's go Argentina!!!! Fuerza Argentina!!!!🇦🇷🏆🇦🇷🏆🇦🇷🏆
There is a big difference between how Messi fanboys and Argentine football fans are viewing this world cup campaign.
The whole Argentine side deserves credit. Messi obviously stands out but the defence, midfield and strikers all have done so well and shown so much resilience.
And no team can progress deep in a knockout tournament without some luck. Argentina have had that as well.
Some of the best Argentine young players this time. From the Goalie up to the forwards 🙌
5 penalties in 6 games would say it’s a little more than luck . Corruption
@Nick Chemist please cry more ☺️
If not, then at least try to sound reasonable.
@Nick Chemist then you’re simply delusional
The 2nd goal of Alvarez is the repeat of the 1st one in which he missed. Magnificent 👏
That one is different
Messi have brought many of us joy . Young and Old,even those who hate him he give them something to talk about.
We All know that he is special and is truly deserve something special for all that he have given us . from the bottom of my heart I just want to say thank you Messi.
What’s Frank on about? That was a clear penalty, yes the goalkeeper wasn’t intentionally trying to make contact with Alvarez, but that’s football. He prevented a goal scoring opportunity, which Alvarez could’ve scored if he wasn’t tackled.
Lmao, clear penalty... Messi fan but that wasn't even a foul not to talk of a penalty
Definitely intentional because he sticks his leg out more and longer. He just tried to play it off
@Abraham James please watch the replay again
@P Hman don’t even listen to that dude lmao
@Cristian Alexander nope not a clearl penalty. Alvarez ran into HIM. And the gk sticking his leg out isn't what "fouled" Alvarez. Learn the rules
This is the end of Leo doesn’t show in big games. They needed him and he showed up. I’m. I Messi fan but i admit he played well in a big game.
MacAllister has surprised me in this World Cup. I think a big team may come in for him. Aspects of his positional play was Messi like.
its crazy as we have seen these runs on the flanks so many times from the maestro.
he might even win the best player, top scorer and leading in assist, i mean that will be insane
Lautaro hugging Alvarez after his performance was the highlight for me 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I think why the goal is so perfect is that, no one thought the last goal was a threat, so the Df didn't tackle outside the box. He basically teased them and dragged it to the box. That's genius
I'm the biggest Messi fan, but today the MVP was Alvarez. Won the first pen, created the second goal out of thin air and scored it, scored the third. Clear MOM performance for me. Messi was good, but not better than how he was vs Ned.
Idk man I would that too but Messi scored the pen and assisted beautifully for the third. Alvarez did really good though staying composed on that second goal. Great players the lot of em
🇵🇾
Well done Leo Messi and Argentina.
As a Ronaldo Fan.
Messi for that 3rd assist, was pure class.
Took me back to the Messi of 2012, were he was unplayable, gliding past defenders with such ease . 91 goals in a calender year. Absolute monster of a player.
There simply hasn't been any player like him before . He deserves this world cup trophy and deserves one more Balon d'Or.
He is the Greatest of all time, without any doubts.
No one would believe you're a Ronaldo fan. 😂
@Olise Jay why is that?
@Andre JayC because penaldo fans love their lord to the core , they would leave their girl if penaldo ever decided he wants to be with a man🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Landya Pandu sounds very stressful & taxing, those types of Fans must work extra hard to look the other way , when another player does something notable and deserves the credit.
You aint a Ronaldo fan. You are only saying that to get likes and push the Messi agenda
3rd goal was crucial as it killed the game.
What killed the game was Croatia having no quality opportunities, even when Argentina bunkered so they could rest.
The defining moment was his goal in the second match. They lost the first but they recovered.
Messi to the final, story book ending if he wins it
Kinda embarrassing to win a wc knowing the Fifa helped you lol
@Stan Smith how'd fifa help him
@Stan Smithsalty
@Stan Smith🧂🧂🧂😊
@Stan Smith cry more 😭
Those tow passes were for ages to come! This man is underrated. He is an alien!
Shaka and frank really didn’t want Argentina going through 😂
Because Argentina is getting all the calls and yet they are crying about the refs all the time. How De Paul and Paredes have gotten away with so many fouls without any yellow card is ridiculous.
@davinnicode cry more🤪🤪🤪😂😂😂😂
Cry more 🤣 Argentine cheaters proud of being gifted penalties end game . Fifa is true 🐐
@Mess iisapig all this tears won’t stop Messi winning it
Alvarez put in a MOTM performance, today. Deserves a lot more credit.
Croatia felt like Spain, just passed the ball from side to side with no danger for the opposition
Feel sad for Modric an end of such a great player international career master of ball but happy for magician man Messi
Argentina will not going to lose, after they went through 4 years ago. The whole needs to get behind Argentina to suceed. And Messi is a smart worker, why would he run at his age ? He save his energy when he needed.
Trust me, the refs will do anything in their power to make sure argentina won't lose lol
@Stan Smith Already making excuses lol
@Stan Smith As they should. We don't need frog eaters to win 2 times in a row.
Exaclty all these delusional
Fans so blind to see how bought thjs trophy is . Messi will get to play Morocco thrn get a penalty
@Mess iisapig I love that scenario.
Messi was just being efficient with his running and chances as Alejandro says, brilliant.
You can tell it pains Shaka seeing Argentina in the final
I been praising Alvarez since before City signed him. I hoped Real would’ve got him think he would’ve done well with Vinicius and Rodrygo but that’s another topic. This Argentina team is going to win.
Edit:Messi played yet again but gosh he’s not the only player on the field lmao these guys can be frustrating
Indeed, same when people forget that Maradona had a great teammates around him as well when he won the WC. People just remember the star. Argentina as a whole are playing as a unit which has not been seen recently in recent years. Great performances from all players across the board.
Competing with a decade younger players and still dominating: Messi. GOAT 🐐
Shaka is a pure stand up comedian 😂
I know Alvarez is special even at City .. He don't even get many playing time but his Output numbers are amazing
That third where Messi handled gvardiol one on one reminded me of prime him , didn't look he is 35 😶.
I really thought it was not a penalty, thanks for the explanation. I am now convinced it was a 100% penalty.
Ask van Gaal how to defend Messi🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The difference in their defence is that they had not been coming up against the counter. They are great when they are defending behind the ball
EL MEJOR JUGADOR DEL MUNDO NO DEBATE POSSIBLE 🐐🐐🐐
El mejor jugador de partido: el arbitro
I agree my friends
@Stacy L you:😭😭
When you realize that Alvarez plays behind Haaland and Mahrez at City.
That might change going into the 2nd half of season, haaland is big and the thing that will allow Alvarez to succeed at city is he plays really similar to aguero, I’m not too worried about him tbh, he’ll show his talent whenever he gets the chance
Lionel Messi, the best player in mankind history
Delusional
@Mess iisapig You're delusional if you disagree.
@Mess iisapig cry more 😢
@Abdullah Khan notice his id name. He is a hater
@Johno909 he is a hater. Look at his id name.
From loosing to Saudi Arabia to the final.... reminds me the last year's Madrid's UCL run
I think Frank would think the other way if France had gotten the penalty.
💯
Problem is that was Argentina fourth penalty more than anyone . They are being helped but no one say anything because it’s messi
I was actually watching the analysis from former referee. No way that's a penalty. This ref Orsato is 20m behind the ball at the moment and from his perspective it looks like a penalty because he is way behind in line with Alvarez and Livakovic. He should be at that moment from the side watching the action then he would se what Shaka and Frank are explaining. Alvarez flicked the ball to the side and ran into Livakovic. So if anything it should be foul from Alvarez. What nobody is talking about ref had a Achilles surgery and was actually slow to position himself in every critical situation. Not to mention that he didn't see that it should be a corner for Croatia prior to the play that translated into a dubious penalty.
What I don't understand why VAR didn't signal him to at least watch the situation in slow motion. Then he would have whole different perspective. But we saw on this tournament even with VAR still getting the wrong decision. For example Scezny penalty.
I think it's ludicrous what the refs are calling on this tournament and this was the defining moment that changed the whole momentum of the game in Argentina favor.
Why do we have all this technology in football today if we don't use it properly.
Ludicrous
@Mess iisapig how are they helped boy.Only one that wasn’t a penalty and that’s vs Poland. Argentina made it to the final by playing their hearts out and beating team by team. Everyone crying “rigged” but I guess Saudi Arabia and Netherlands were “rigged” games lmao. Argentina suffered this World Cup if it was rigged they would be breezing and beating everyone 5-0
@Mess iisapig France had 4 penalties in 2018. All mouths shut. Why? Because it’s not Messi
