The outfit is so bland and he’s so roided out now I feel crazy reading people hype this redesign up when he looks like a generic martial artist now. He’s lost his edge and sense of style

I grew up bunking school and playing Tekken 3 on PS1 at game parlours with Hwoarang as my first and main. Now I am over 30 years of age and saw the guy in Tekken 8 with awesome moves.
Nostalgia..............pure emotion.
Hwoarang is cool because everything about his design matched with his personality. It’s not just his biker theme outfit that displays his delinquent side, it’s also his taekwondo dobok. He has an interesting personality, Hwoarang lives for the thrill and doesn’t let any rules stop him from doing what he thinks is fun. Despite what his rough personality would suggest, Hwoarang has an honorable side. He respects his master Baek and prefers to have a fair fight with his opponents. He rejects any form of supernatural power so he can rely on his own fighting skills. While Hwoarang is a jerk most of the time, he’s actually a fairly decent guy when you get to know him. His rivalry with Jin is interesting due to how it developed throughout the series. It evolved from a bitter rivalry to a friendly one. Jin and Hwoarang are now basically just the friends who prefer to beat each other up rather than hug. No matter how much they fight, they have each other’s back. It’s a typical example of vitriolic best buds. Hwoarang was even willing to sacrifice his eye for Jin in T7 even if it was just an temporary injury and he didn't lost the eye for real, it shows how Hwoarang was more moral than Jin at that particular point. Lastly but not least, I consider Hwoarang to be one of Tekken's strongest designs. I personally think that he’s the best representation of TKD in a fighting game. Hwoarang is awesome and I can’t imagine the franchise without him. 🤷🏻♂️☯️👌✌️

Loved Jin's interaction with Hwoarang, he finally acknowledge and respect him as a fellow fighter
I noticed Jin growth in his trailer he said "Strength isn't everything" where as before in games like t6 he would say "Strength is everything" nice callback to how much he's grown looking forward to there interactions
Jin came to not be this obsessed with his vengeance over the Mishima family, and realized some people were around him in some ways.
Hwoarang is one of them, with that Rival Frennemy relationship, so he definitely want to acknowledge it.
(also the Anime made them both more friendly rivals so no doubt they capitalizing on that)
Finally? They were rivals from the start when they were both introduced in Tekken 3

I have the hugest smile on my face, not because he’s my main or anything, but because he’s come along way. I remember his Tekken 3 design and being a kid. We grow up with these characters and they are like apart of us.
Hwoarang used to be my go-to as a kid. I remember being so into him being such a specialist in leg attacks. And I still don't know how to spell his name without checking. Ha! Feels so nostalgic to see these characters.

Happy to finally see Hwoarang's reveal trailer. He's my favorite Tekken character of all time. I used to give even the best Tekken 3 players a run for their money in the arcade days with him.

They removed Rage Drives in Tekken 8. The Heat Smash is the closest mechanic to Rage Drives we'll get.

Never played much of him, but always been a fan. He looks fantastic. Like the mix of his old dojo uniform mixed in with his biker ascetic, and his moves look smooth. Now that we got Mr. Kick, can we please get Mr. Punch? I am waiting for Steve Fox to drop.

I started my fighting games journey with tekken 6. I remember seeing his back story and when he was defeated by devil jin in tekken 5, and its so good to look at him defeat Jin
the finishing move reminds me of those taekwodo performances. the ones with no fights but just breaking planks in the most spectacular way possible. I think that's a good inspiration.
I like how Hwoarang and Jin seemed to have switched roles in their intro, Jin is more eager to fight and Hwoarang is just laid back about it lol. Cool detail.
The throwbacks to the Tekken anime events are real, first it was Kazuya and Jun's, now Jin and Hwoarang's.
Those baek type of animations look weird, but I guess they always did.

My favourite character to play as. I'm not particularly good with him at all, but I've liked his fighting playstyle since his intro to Tekken.

They did him so much more justice can’t lie he was already amazing but they really added some extra icing to the cake
Really liking Hwoarang's new design for Tekken 8, much better than Tekken 7. However, I feel like his rage art could've been more epic I.e. like launching his motorbike into the opponent similar to when he did it to Jin in the Tekken 6 E3 2006 Trailer.

After seeing the breakdown of street fighter 6 on digital foundry on how little difference between the last generation and current generation of the game as a long standing sf player this looks actually current generation. The pop in, the detail dropping assets, the pee poor roster on launch, I think it's time to go back to tekken. I've not been into tekken since street fighter 3 ( so a long time) but think I need to give this a good look. Looks solid and so so detailed.

I've Been Playing as Hwoarang Main Ever Since I Know Tekken, the reason why i main him back then because i was practicing Taekwondo and it feels cool to me playing as hwoarang especially when i do a move that i've been practicing in real life, In Tekken 6 I've mastered all of his combos and moves, but then tekken 7 comes after i havent touched Tekken for a year or 2 im back at being dumb and newbie at using Hwoarang, Especially with all those changes and new Moves, i keep losing using hwoarang, that's why at some point i stop playing him and use Bryan, Leroy and Lars, but with this new Hwoarang ? Im Definitely gonna comeback to him and try to master all his moves and combos this time

Idk, I don't think I see anything new other than a few, but the animations have definitely been polished up a lot
@Alternate Accounts there's a lot of same moves but I noticed a few new combo enders. Then there's also the new default hit effect which resemble hawk talon marks like his nick name Blood Talon, which I'm on the fence about because it's not like Hwo has clawed boots/shoes or anything.

1:11 this scene just confirmed you could technically link rage arts and heat smashes in one combo if you use wall breaks or even balcony breaks to continue the combo

His design seems to be a mixture of his previous iterations. The Tekken 4 look stands out the most to me. I'm feeling it.
He also seems to borrow Baek's look from Tekken 2 with that Tae Kwon Do gi for his top. Really shows how much he respects his master.

I have been studying martial arts on and off the last decade. I just started doing Taekwondo and I love it. I'm definitely gonna play Hwoarang and Leroy in Tekken 8. As well as Kazuya, Jin, Steve and Law because I have studied Karate, Chinese Kempo, Shaolin Kung Fu, Boxing and Wing Chun in the past. IRL Martial Artists Rise Up!
Love how each and every returning character is coming back stronger, more advanced, and matured. 8th title in the series and still growing phenomenally. All game genres can learn from this

@Kenpachi I think some things were inspired by Tekken that Street Fighter 6 were taking notes of, and vice versa like Virtua Fighter, Guilty Gear, Dead Or Alive, ect. But yeah, it'd be great if fighting games could add more inspired things from other fighting games, to see if it works or not for that genre. I agree.

I see they’ve incorporated Kim from KOF’s moves in Tekken 8, I’d love to see him fight at these finals and not just as a side character always.
I love how 'Rang finally looks like he got some age on him without becoming overly cliché or sacrificing any of the cool factor.

Across the series, decades have passed and characters have changed and even died. Each Tekken 8 character reveal trailer we've gotten has contained details that indicate ways in which characters have grown.

I can't believe I didn't realize this sooner. Anyone else notice that Hwoarang now out ranks his master, Baek?!! Look closely at his belt. If I'm not lying, I counted 9 white stripes which means that he ranks 9th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. Whilst Baek had 6 the last time he in the game. Could this kid really have outgrown his master in such a short period of time
