If you suspect that you or a loved one has been the victim of fraud, you can call or visit the National Elder Fraud hotline (stopelderfraud.ovc.ojp.gov/) at 833-372-8311 and report it to the FTC by visiting the agency’s website (reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/) or calling 877-382-4357.

Exactly. When I’ve had to make tax payments, they always send me a form and I call them and they will actually call me back when I’m next in line and I know that they are legit. They even tell you the return phone number they are going to use and how it is stamped on your caller ID. The IRS will never initiate a call with you. And they will not ask for gift cards to pay a tax debt.
Don't expect the government to ever do things the easy way
Also, no one's SSN gets suspended no matter how much crime they commit.
People on Death Row still have their SSN!
Only people in Witness Protection get a new one.

I know I'm late, but it's great to see Mark falling in with the anti-scammer crowd. It's a fantastic cause and it really lets Mark turn his brilliance into a boon to humanity. Well, it always was, but this is a step up.
I watched this ages ago and thought it was wild.
Today I learned that my grandmother was a victim to one of these scams and lost 9.5 grand.
Please share this with the older people in your lives, I wish I had.
I 100% agree. My elderly neighbor lost $27k - her entire life's savings - to a scammer.
The actual fact that you did this is amazing, and i know this was like a year ago nut its just mind blowing!

As someone who used to work in financial crime prevention, thank you for doing this. People that take advantage of trusting and lonely elderly people make me furious. Thank you for serving them the divine retribution that I never could.
I got teary eyed and so upset listening to the elderly people sound so confused and frightened.
Literally got me close to tears with how awesome this all is.

My buddy's mom came close to getting nailed by a scammer. The only thing that saved her was that he had stashed her car key because the family was worried about her driving. When she couldn't find her key she called him to ask if he knew where it was and he put a stop to the deal.

My 72 year mother was robbed by guys like this…. I am so glad that you are going after them.
I share every one of these videos as much as possible. My own boss lost $3500 once while at work to these scumbags of the Earth. I love seeing justice dealt swiftly and appreciate everyone who does their part in this and I, too will continue the fight on my end until all scammers are eradicated from existence. DID YOU WATCH THE VIDEO? I don't think they were connected to him. That Crystal girl and her partner were just sending mail there, but they weren't connected to the air bnb itself, which is why they seemed to be trying to intercept it. He wasn't a supervisor because he would have had to record himself opening the box, and he wasn't lower than the "mules" because he opened the box. It could've been anybody with an air bnb that was being used. He was a victim after thorough and successful detective work, hence he was compensated. Besides, Mark seemed sure enough to say he was innocent in his video, so I'd rather believe him.
Why did Gary open a package that was sent to one of his Airbnb guests?

Huge respect!! We engineers were usually invisible in people's daily life, but this is a textbook example of how people can get helped through engineering mindset.

I vaguely knew about such scams but had no idea how they actually worked.
In addition to India, China has such scammers operating big time, more so operating out of places around Asia, too.
Again, I had little idea just how this was even possible.
