Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Salzburg on Saturday, protesting against new nationwide restrictions on unvaccinated citizens.

Participants could be seen marching through the streets, holding signs accusing Austrian politicians of making threats and blackmailing people.

On Monday, the government announced the shift from the 3G rule of vaccinated, recovered, or PCR-tested to 2G measures with a transition period for unvaccinated people to get vaccinated.

Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said that proof of the first vaccination in addition to a negative PCR test will be accepted as a 2G entry method in some venues until early December.

On Sunday, Austria ordered a nationwide lockdown for those who are not fully vaccinated.

The country has under 65 percent of its population fully vaccinated, one of the lowest inoculation figures in Western Europe.
