    Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOC...
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

@SebSk - Understood, and agreed. I'm in the market for a wet suit (having always 'borrowed' one before). Any suggestions as to brand?

    • SebSk
      SebSk Month ago

If you're surfing you don't even need drysuits during winter, wetsuits are enough :D Done it myself, no gloves. As long as you're active, the water that gets into your suit will act as a warm(ed up) layer. I'm Norwegian though (and half Finnish) idk if that has anything to say :p
Winter surfing in Norway can be fantastic. Just be careful and know what you're doing...

I literally have tears in my eyes because this is something I've always wanted to do! I have loved orcas since I was a kid, researched everything I could about it, would have studied to be an oceanographer but my grades were not great in biology. This is absolutely incredible footage! Look up Aquatic Adventures where you can swim with whale sharks in Isla Mujeres and humpback whales and their babies in the Silver Banks of the Dominican Republic. So jealous right now but so happy to have been able to watch this experience!

Also, it needs to be mentioned that your video editor is doing her job SO WELL! The clip choices with the audio clips were placed perfectly! Great job Brooke (I think that's your name). There was a major change in video quality when Kara and Nate hired a dedicated video editor and that should notngo unnoticed. Not that Kara wasn't doing a great job but it's evident that making videos is an art form for you Brooke!

Beautiful footage of orcas. Glad they didn’t treat you like food and both human and animal maintained a healthy respect for one another. Being around wildlife without fences is life altering for sure. And we backed out slowly as soon as we had an opportunity.

In Canada its illegal to get this close to humpbacks or orcas as endangered species .... what an incredible opportunity, but definitely have mixed feelings about it. It's interesting how different countries have different rules. Also the markings on the centre back of the orcas is completely different than Pacific Northwest orcas which is fascinating! It’s so weird and cool to see people experience something that is just totally ordinary for us locals. It honestly opens our eyes and makes us realize how awesome it really is. 💙👏🏼 (Not that we normally go swimming with orcas… But we’ve seen them every year and never really thought about it).

Kara your excitement is always so wonderful to watch. I love that neither of you seem tobe anything excepted joyful about new experiences no matter how many you manage to experience. Of course you only share highlight for the most part. Boy what amazing highlights.
I have been fortunate enough to have swum with wild dolphins, experience humpback coming right up to the small cruise ship ,seen and heard whales calling while in a submerged boat. So I can only imagine how much higher your experience of swimming with all the orchestra must have been. Thanks.
