@Alejandro Pérez Well Mclaren itself had quite a bit of trouble getting those nissan engines reliable. And those are modified nissan race engines. To think Tavarish can improve on that is ridiculous. With enough money and time i suppose you can but Mclaren struggled for years. Makes for entertaining content that's for sure.

  • Rd
    Rd 2 months ago +1

I'd suggest looking at the top of all the pistons to see if they have signs of detonation. There's a good chance that with a poor tune or poor quality fuel, you were running within the power limits of the rods but had a detonation or a series of detonations bad enough to lead to that damage. If that's the case, even with forged internals, you could potentially melt a valve or crack a ring land down the road

The lesson here is that a finely tuned thoroughbred engine is designed to be as light as it can be and just strong enough for the power it achieves, you cannot just wack to huge turbo's on it like it's some cast iron American boat anchor and floor it. Here endeth the lesson ;) great content though and look forward to watching the rebuild.

I know it is not your style or way of doing things on your channel. But either Sheepy or Gintani can help you with both all the right parts and knowledge to build a over the top reliable 600-700hp engine for the car. It sure deserves the best of the best with all it has been through and with everything you have achieved with it 😊

Plot twist. Tavarish bought the DDE 720 GTR for the engine/turbos/peripherals.

Freddie, I really appreciate your attitude on this whole debacle. A lot of people would be crying and whining, "Oh, poor me, my car is ruined." Instead you smile, make the plans, maybe tighten your belt a little bit, and begin the reconstruction. It puts me in mind of something my mother-in-law once said: "A problem that can be fixed with money isn't a real problem."

Surprised that the engine had less than 100 HP headroom. Impressive engineering for an engine to be designed to be just enough to survive reliably.

That intro is heartbreaking, walking out and seeing the oil trail must have sucked. 😅

Definitely hurts to see the extent of the damage! Sadly won't see the McLaren for awhile but looking forward to what's next :)
