@Triwieke Wina The movies you've never seen you don't know for sure if it's something you'd would have enjoyed or not. But when it comes to musicals there's a good chance that if we like the music we might enjoy the movie...at least some parts of it.
Though when I think about it...I watched 'Dear Evan Hansen'. I enjoyed the music and the actors but I didn't like the movie. 🤔 The plot just annoyed me too much. So...maybe you did make a point.
Anyway, I enjoyed this Cinderella movie and I'm fine with some others not liking it.

This is so forced, why call it Cinderella when this a whole new character with a different personality and way of thinking. You the base of the original Cinderella and formed it into something that doesn’t even relate to the original story anymore, changed the characters, why would you remove and replace key characters in the story, and the message is so forced out. “Be yourself” or “you don’t need a man”. I get it, the message isn’t a bad one but it’s so forced, doesn’t feel right at all, implying so much feminist ideals into a story that kids would read or watch, might as well make this a new princess and not related to Cinderella at all.

@hsd287 Well even in the movies I mentioned they did a great job of portraying strong women without making it the focus and focused on the storytelling. This movie feels liek a message towards fenale empowerment and because of that the storytelling has been forgotten about entirely.
First of all not all movies have to stress on female empowerment like we already know about women and power there's no need to throw that same thing in each and every movie 😅
I would rather like ensemble movies where there is focus on characters of all genders and types and show their abilities without bringing up gender or categories always

When people used to ask me what I would like to be when I was older I would always reply saying; 'I want to be a dressmaker who lives in the dirtiest part of the house, that I'm living in, possible!' Finding the love of my life is not as important as making a dress for a 93 year old granny who would probably get it ripped in no time! I only went out to have a break from measuring some frilly rag! I got the fairy godmother to get me a magnificent dress to wear and just leave and never come back and make sure the prince didnt notice me! I would hate to leave my back breaking posture in my basement!*

I feel like not enough people know that Disney doesn’t actually *own* Cinderella (or any of the princesses, except Elsa and Anna) so literally *anybody* can make a Cinderella movie, a Little Mermaid movie, a Snow White movie if they wanted to. And they could make it *however they want* exactly how Disney did. (If you know the *real* Cinderella story, you’re a well cultured legend)

So true. Only the things specifically made for the Disney animated film cannot be taken. Notice how in all of the other versions, the stepmother and stepsisters have different names instead of being called Mr. Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella. It's because they have no name in the original folklore tale, so any names besides the ones Disney gave them are a fair game.
But cinderella spefically is european folktale. There are many varients of the same story but they are called different. I bet if someone would adapt the story of Ye Xian(Chinese fairy tale that is similar to the European Cinderella story) that most people wouldn’t say that she could be anyone. Most people would say that she should be chinese.

this is the first time watching the trailer, a few weeks ago my sister mentioned this cinderella movie and Camilla Cabello was the cinderella, and I was like "whaaat?" Camilla is amazing btw, but I just can't imagine her being cinderella.

@Brandon Spain its a little more complex than, no one owns stories but I get what your saying, if your interested i like to point out that many storys disney told like Cinderella or little mermaid come from grimms tales and were the intellectual property of the Grimm brothers but anyone's able to adapt them because when an author dies and the patent runs out anyone can use them I only learned that because last year (im a senior now) my class read a ya novel inspired by the great Gatsby and turns out thats possible cause of an expired patent

This movie is really good breakin some of the stereotypes of the movie cinderella and if the did some changes according to modern society and thinking nothing's wrong in it , i think its good tht they got something differently out from a old fairytale ....
