Darth Vader in Rogue One is my favorite, goosebumps every time
U know it!!
Same!
I wish people stop shitting on that movie just because its a disney production.
Indeed!
@dn30001 in my opinion it’s the best Star Wars movie released to date
The Rogue One scene was instantly legendary the minute Vader ignited his lightsaber
Even just hearing the sirens and his breathing coming from dark then the fear in the rebels once the lightsaber is lit, if you're gonna have fan service then that's the way to do it
And we all knew like they did they were already dead it was crazy but showed just how menacing and powerful he is that he can just cut through them like a lv 100 player mowing down npcs lol
fun fact about the end of that scene being that there is no wind or air in space vaders cape is probably being moved by vader via the force
That part is just epic!!!!
@Wolfpack Really, that was the whole problem I had with the scene. There was no competition in mowing down nameless cannon fodder rebels.
Luke’s scene in the Mandalorian truly showed off great power, because the dark droids were actually very menacing. Vader’s scene was more like a bully taking your lunch money. Not impressed.
I am surprised that they did not list Obi-wan and Anakin on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith. This marked as on of the best lightsaber battles, and the it looks like Anakin has the upper hand, but Obi-wan beats him. They were fighting without being held back, and over lava.
Anakin *as a 10 yo padawan*: Impossible. NO ONE can beat me at 'The Floor is lava.'
Mace: Obi-wan? What is it?
Obi-wan: I sense a tremor in the Force. As if Anakin will one day get bitten in the ass for saying that.
technically speaking it did at least get an honorable mention when the narrator of the video mentioned Obi-Wan repeating history by dismembering Anakin in Revenge of The Sith.
I thought the same 😢
This is beast mode listing. Because of the high ground, Obi-Wan didn't need the beast mode. 😋
One thing I like about the Ahsoka vs Maul fight is that the person who did the motion capture for Maul is Ray Park, the original actor for Maul.
Came here to drop this nugget. Thanks for doing it already.
I think that's what made the fight more beautiful. Getting OG Maul (Ray Park) to reprise his stuntman skills and deliver such an exceptional display. Man still got it after all those years :)
Maul is like Ray Park and Sam Witwer's lovechild
Luke in the Mandalorian will always be my favorite. I tear up every....single....time!
The power of the force, I love that scene
Same!
Vader in the Profundity was freaking awesome! It's so claustrophobic, and you can almost taste the terror from the Rebels.
Luke Skywalker showing up in the Mandalorian is just plain EPIC. (Luke is my favorite character of all time)
I agree. Those are definitely my #1 and #2 from this list.
I definitely agree. Luke is my favorite character and I truly believe he is the true hero of Star Wars
Same
The RotJ scene with Luke being so aggressive to Vader is by far the best on the list. The fighting, music, and emotions just blending so well every second of it
The ONE thing about that scene looking at it now, Vader looks like he took a “cinematic dive” in the end
I agree. Was waiting for it the whole time. I think they got 1 & 2 spot on in order. Luke in the Mandalorian & Duel of the Fates could've possibly got bumped up to 3 & 4. All in all it was a good list.
Darth Vader in Rogue One is one of my favourites. The rage, the hall, the smoke, the red lightsaber, the intensity, etc. That moment gave me goosebumps when he turn on his lightsaber.
Even just hearing the sirens and his breathing coming from the end of the dark hallway, that's how you do fan service
To me, it seemed too easy. The generic rebels offered no contest.
Luke’s scene in the Mandalorian, by contrast, was against formidable, menacing droids, and saved his friends’ lives.
I think the clone wars episode where Dooku fights both Anakin and Obi-wan Whilst exploiting their weaknesses was a great scene. Also the time he fights Ventress and two night sisters whilst blind was probably one of the coldest moments ever
And Dooku is mentioned to be one of the beste lightsaber fighters there was and no mention of him what a waste
“I do not need my eyes to see you, Jedi…”
@Saerial1 Agreed. His curved lightsaber handle is actually what allowed him to be such a feared duelist. And then when he fights Anakin and Obi-Wan in RotS, it is even more amazing that he does so much. What with him almost taking out Anakin and unintentionally destroying all of palpatines plans. That is why Anakin was told to kill Dooku, or at least is my headcanon.
I think the scene when Kenobi fought both Maul and Savage in a tight hallway alone in the Episode where Maul attacked the pirates should have been mentioned. It was too good
Honorable mention has to be Vader stopping that ship from taking off in the Kenobi series. We have seen other characters do this in Star Wars but it appears to take everything they have. Vader so casually walks up and does it with one hand and just starts tearing it apart. I loved this scene!
Say what you want about The Tragedy, watching Boba go beast mode on those stormtroopers was a thing of beauty. His line about aiming for the other one is also great.
One scene that I feel should’ve been on this list, or at least an honorable mention is Sabine’s catharsis from “Star Wars Rebels.” In Season 3, when Sabine finds the infamous Darksaber, which later gets handed down to Bo-Katan, she’s hesitant to learn how to wield it due to her painful family history but reluctantly agrees. But facing her demons very nearly destroys her friendship with Kanan, and at her breaking point, when she’s had enough of him “goading her on” to fight back and face her demons, when she finally does, she fights back with full force, letting out all her pent-up rage and grief in a very heartbreaking way so much so that she manages not only to get the upper hand over Kanan, but it even looked like for a moment that she was going to let out her rage at him in a “lethal finishing move way,” until she finally composed herself. If that’s not a beast mode moment, I don’t know what is!!!
I fully agree that this scene should have been at least mentioned. Too many badass scenes from rebels were missing. One of my favorites is in the Series Finale where Ezra tells Jai to send the signal to the frequency for summoning the purgill and keeps Thrawn in place. The amount of self sacrifice that he shows in that moment is awe inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time because it is a parallel between Kanan and Ezra. By that I mean when Kanan sacrifices himself when the Fuel Depot is shot.
How is the fight between Yoda and Dooku not on this list? It showed how much of a badass duelist Yoda really was.
Until season 2 of the Mandalorian, the Vader Profoundity scene was easily the most epic beast mode scene, but nothing can rival the ending of the Mandalorian. What added to its epicness was the genuine aura of mystique. It was easily one of the best kept secrets and Im happy that I wasnt spoiled on it.
the mandalorian, when luke showed up and just decimated all those dark troopers to get to mando and grogu. is very closely tied to the goosebumps i got when we all saw yoda use his lightaber in the clone wars the first time. seeing what he was capable of not just with the force but with the lightsaber doin all those flips and stuff was excellent.
The surprise appearance of Luke in The Mandalorian is just about the coolest thing I've seen in 40 years. Loved it.
Yoda’s light saber fights are some of my favorite in the prequels. I’d love to see Grogu go full yoda at some point whether it be with a light saber or just the force or other weapons. And I hope Din and others who care for him are there to witness it.
Most of these scenes are quite a treat, but Luke’s triumph over Vader is a personal favorite of mine. The lighting, Mark Hamill’s expressions and David Prowse’s body language, the PHENOMENAL music and the sheer intensity of each strike all made it in my view a masterpiece.
Here's an honorable mention: the Sail Barge scene in Return of the Jedi. This is the first time Luke is seen with his green lightsaber, and he shows why he shouldn't be underestimated like Jabba did.
The moment with Vader at the end of Rogue One is absolutely terrifying.
As a child, Darth Vader was my go-to nightmare. If I had seen that scene then, I'd probably still be afraid of sleep.
I think the duel between Obi Wan vs Savage and Maul should definitely be considered a beast mode moment for good ol Ben. That scene had me hyped and it’s probably the only time we saw obi wan duel wield 😱
Agreed. Another worthy mention is Pre Vizla decimating the hutts minions with the darksaber during his and Mauls search for crime allies
Luke in the Mandalorian is always gonna be 1 for me. Cuz not only was it badass, it was a phenomenal reveal
the ashoka and maul fight was one of the best choreographed fights ive ever seen, it was two opponents who were masters at completely different lightsabers styles and each were able to match the other 1-1 in each strike and counter-strike, just absolute perfection from them both, and especially from ashoka who had been out of fighting with lightsabers for a while then
Even though I knew Anakin would turn to the Dark Side eventually, seeing him kill all those Tusken Raiders was horrifying the first time I saw it
The duel between Obi-Wan and Maul is just so awesome.
Duel of The Fates also just made that scene so perfect
Anakin was so beast mode, he lost both his legs and hair.
And arms. A bald seared quadrapalegic.
And lost his friend and wife
And still defeated many
Krell's betrayal should've been on the list. I'd place it in the top 5
Agreed
I agree with most of this list, but the vader/ashoka fight from rebels is by far my favorite fight in all of star wars. The music, the intensity, the dialogue. God it always raises the hair on my arms
Honestly, one of my favorite moments where a Star Wars character goes beastmode is when Ahsoka is defending herself from all of the clones on the Venator directly after Order 66 happens. It wasn't until one of the shorter series (I think it was Visions but I could be wrong) where we find out the only reason that she was able to survive that whole encounter is because of all the training that Anakin put her through with the members of the 501st. She stood in the center of a circle that members of the 501st made with them all having their blasters set to stun. Then they would all fire at random times and this was to make it so that Ahsoka was able to sense the actions of other living beings by using the force. I might be wrong with this quote, but Anakin also told her "If you can anticipate when Jesse and the boys are going to fire, you can beat any droid." This training alone is what helped Ahsoka to survive Order 66. It wasn't some luck that she had. It was because of this training. In the animated short series where we find out this info, the episode we find the info from has Rex behind her at the end on the Venator ship. It is a heartbreaking moment where Rex quietly says to Ahsoka: "Let's hope all that training paid off." Honestly, it is one of my favorite moments in the entirety of the Star Wars Universe.
Luke's battle with Vader in The Empire Strikes Back will always be my favorite. "No, it's impossible!"
Luke showing up in the mandalorion was the greatest for me. After all the years he has returned to us. The man straight up shredded the empire's greatest weapon at the time as if they were training droids.
The Obi-Wan series had its critics, but that final scene with Obi-Wan and Vader talking following that duel was some of the best Star Wars content ever. If you watched the Clone Wars, that one scene hit home so much harder...
Also, Vader/Anakin technically only ever won ONCE in the 4 duels we see them in. Obi-Wan was a beast up against Sith Lords.
Star Wars will be one of my favorite media franchises forever. A lot of Star Wars characters and scenes are badass and also has a great lore / story.
We always knew Darth Vader was badass but his display in Rouge One shows exactly how badass and why he is the Dark Lord!
#19!! Best depiction of rage I have ever seen in media hands down period bar none!!!
You can literally see it building in his face pushing forth the tears and once she dies everyone dies.
Such an amazing actor
Darth Sidious lightning-ing ships out of the sky is pretty beast mode - probably the strongest display of the Force in the whole saga!
All of these entries are my all time favorites, but if I had to just narrow one down, its the moment where Grogu is rescued by Luke kriffing Skywalker.
Seeing the son of the chosen one is goosebumps worthy, every time.
The saddest part of Revenge of the Sith is how all the kids come out of hiding when they see it’s Anakin, only to face Darth Vader.
The Armorer knocking out like 7 Storm Troopers with just a hammer and tongs should’ve been somewhere on this list… or at least an honorable mention on the list.
The rogue one scene is the best, but how did Vader clowning on Reva without even drawing his lightsaber not make the list? Or him easily stopping a ship taking off? Those scenes were raw madness!
I thought you were going to choose Rey vs Sidious for number one, so I was pleasantly surprised to see Luke defeating Vader instead.
Number 1 has always been my favorite. If you look at the emotions playing across Luke's face before he gets himself under control, he's ready to kill Vader and take pleasure in doing it. So yeah, beast mode.
When Obi-Wan and Maul had their fight on Tattooine is my favorite. Maul is full of rage and Obi-Wan is calm and has the “You should not do this look” on his face. Yes the fight is short but it is a devastating move Obi-Wan pulled off and its probably how a real lightsaber fight would go, since a single swipe is pretty much lethal. Also, I loved when Vader took Luke’s hand, because he was toying with Luke and the wound was almost as if to say “You never stood a chance”, but the way he also bent Luke’s forearm like that was really cool too.
I love how whenever Rey vs Kylo is brought up. WatchMojo keeps trying to come up with a reason as to why the inexperienced scavenger beats the wounded, yet powerful dark side user
Honestly, same. Like, if you look at all the statistics and whatnot, Rey was extremely outclassed in that fight. She only won it because of sheer dumb luck. She had literally no skill in using a lightsaber even though her quarterstaff was a good way to get the basics down. The lightsaber was something else entirely though and she shouldn't have had as much mastery as she did without any proper training. When it comes to the actors for the sequel trilogy, I give them the credit they deserve for the acting they did. But the sequel trilogy is written in a really shitty way.
How is commander thorn vs basically the entire separatist army on scippio not on this list, what an awesome chilling scene
The fact that not only did ewan mcgregor and Haden Christianson reprise their roles but James earl Jones provided the voice too with this rematch from Mustafar made this the best!!!! I even loved how even still he beat Vader but couldn't kill him show how obi wan still cares for him and in the series like the ending of clone wars we see under all that hate and anger there was still good in him
Wasn’t really JEJ tho on the Kenobi show. He’s credited but it’s a new voice tech called respeecher. It’s pretty sick
Luke freaking out on Vader in ROTJ was so epic! I am glad it was choosen as number one!
Expecting when Vader pulled down the decoy ship in Kenobi was a spectacular show of strength but the way he savagely ripped the ship apart in his anger to finally find Kenobi was the most beautiful destruction I've seen in live action. Was then followed by the easiest defeat of the 3rd sister, Reva. Then stabbing her for the 2nd time in the stomach who seemingly is immune from sabers in her gut.
Also, watching Pong Krell do anything with light sabers in clone wars is almost as masterful as watching Mace Windu. They on that elite level with Sheev and Yoda who display the most perfectly efficient movements during fights. It's crazy to watch how efficient every single movement they do is. It's a shame we did not get to see more of Krell or Windu fight in the animated series.
Mace Windu vs Palpatine was a good enough fight for Mace to be on the list especially since the same Palpatine gave Darth Maul and Savage Oppress so much trouble.
If we're talking going 'Beast Mode'... It's hard not to go with Sidious v Maul & Opress, seeing a prequel-era version of the Emperor pulling out two lightsabers only to slash them both into the ground while launching himself between two Sith Lords... laughing out loud the entire time... I mean c'mon now!
The most chilling part of it all was that Palpatine looked like he was hardly trying!
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader killing the Separatist leader in ROTS should've gotten a spot or honorable mention. Still, I love that Luke's, Maul's, and Vader's hallway scenes got 4th, 3rd, and 2nd spots respectively.
You left out one truly important moment in the "kenobi" series. The moment Darth Vader stops a ship mid-air, proceeds drag it to the ground and rip it to pieces with the force.
I know this is a movie/tv show channel, but I still secretly hoped I would see some of the gaming moments as well. Series like Force Unleashed would provide some insane "beast mode" content.
Anytime you hear Jedi Fury playing in the background you know beast mode as been achieved
No, Vader's fiercest appearance is in Fallen Order. Hands down the best Vader scene I've seen him in and it's immersive. YOU are the one running for dear life. The game doesn't even fool you into thinking you can fight him.
Vader in Rogue One is goated. Maybe not beast mode but when he defeats the sister in Obi Wan with out drawing his saber using only the force is also cold blooded
Palpatine attacking the Resistance fleet in Rise of Skywalker was epic!
I can't believe you left out the scene at the beginning of The Rise of Skywalker where Kylo Ren, trying to get the wayfinder, literally _plows_ through enemies like they were mannequins, the scene made all the more epic and kickass by being "drowned" in the red-colored haze and mist of Kylo's lightsaber.
And let's not forget the scene in The Last Jedi where Kylo and Rey literally decimate Snoke's guards either.
I'd say that Maul vs Pre Visla is beast like. A powerful duel to the death for the darksaber and the rule of Mandalore hangs in the balance.
Honestly Starkiller at the end of TFU 2 was the scariest protagonist ever...
Originally, That was to be Lukes name. Luke Starkiller.
When I saw Vader's rampage from Rogue One in SECOUND place... And had already seen Maul and Luke's similar rampage trough the corridors of spaceships, I was beginning to worry.
What could POSSIBLY take the first place spot with THESE powerful contestant in second, third and fourth? My mind immediately began to race, and a VERY worried idea popped up in my mind... They can't possibly mean like... When Rey defeats Palpatine, can they? Only WatchMojo would think the finale of episode 9 would be the hail marry of all of Star Wars...
So I was worried, waiting for the worst... And... No. In fact, LUKE'S rampage that defeated Vader in Episode 6 is what takes the first place position! And BOY I couldn't be happier!
Of course! It all makes sense! WatchMojo WOULD think the finale of Star Wars would be the hail marry, but it was the Finale of the Original trilogy!!!
YES! This is great stuff!
I am sorta surprised that they didn't do Leia killing Jabba the Hutt. She is usually so calm, but that moment was cool.
But also Never mess with a Skywalker in a hallway. It will never end well for you.
I think Grievous eliminating the Night sisters was pretty Bad ass
Moments in the EMPIRE days, will always have the most boss feelings...
You can't beat the classics~
You shouldve had an honorable mentions section. There were still so many moments you could've picked:
Obi Wan vs Maul and Savage (The Clone Wars)
Dooku vs Anakin and Obi Wan (the Clone Wars)
Pong Krell's betrayal (TCW)
Sabine Wielding the Darksaber vs. Kanan (Rebels)
Master Ima-Gun Di and Captain Keeli vs battle droids (TCW)
That time R2-D2 fought off bounty hunters and beasts when Anakin and Mace Windu were trapped in a crashed Venator ship to escape back to Coruscant etc.
I'm really surprised we didn't see Vader vs. The Third Sister from The Obi-Wan Kenobi series. That fight was incredible, too
Incredibly one sided, he didn't even pull out his saber he was just dodging her swings and using the force before disarming her breaking her saber and half and almost killing her with it, not to mention he sensed it coming because he remembered her as a youngling from the temple during order 66
@Jason-js7ul yeah true, but it showed just how powerful he was with the force and because he held a ship in place with the force as well.
The top 2 are Vader’s destruction of the Rebels in Rogue One and the truly epic fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin in Ep. III…period!
Watchmojo: *puts the hallway scene in second*
Me: “How DARE you!?”
Watchmojo: *puts Darth Vader’s defeat in first*
Me: “oh, nevermind”
The duel between Obi-Wan and Vader in the Kenobi series was totally brilliant!!?
The duel on Mustafar is missing on this list, and arguably also when Sabine goes ham on Kanan with the darksaber
Ahsoka arriving on Mandalor not being on this list is criminal.
Finn and Phasma's battle was badass!
REBELS getting the recognition it deserves is amazing. My favorite content in all of Star Wars right there.😁
Maul’s “hallway” scene!! Amazing
Seeing Luke is awesome :D Beautiful :D I think second is the best. Vader is bloodthirsty, full of anger, hatred, merciless. Anakin is gone. He's gone. This is Vader is full force. First is epic too. Especially when Vader throws Sidious in reactor shaft. Pretty good choices :)
When Luke goes to rescue grogu is my favorite beast mode moment. 🐐
Vader's entry in Jedi Fallen Order videogame was also iconic
Finn vs Phasma fight should have kept the deleted footage. Finn exposing Phasma to her Stormtrooper reinforcements by reminding her that when he held the gun to her head that she dropped Starkiller Base's shield, causing her to turn on her own reinforcements, was a perfect middle finger to someone who is described in the wider lore as an opportunist.
Great choices .. but was I the only one expecting Andor's escape somewhere along the way? Or the people of Ferrix? Pure wide-eyed tingles!
Anakin wasn’t scripted to kill younglings. The actor just started hitting them. George just caught him. It’s actually quite funny.
Fun Fact: Finn is confirmed to be Force Sensitive. If he had enough time to train, he would be able to use the force like Rey and maybe became a Jedi.
Would have made for a far better story, but ruin (rian) Johnson decided to ruin everything
@TheKisj the Last Trilogy is just an mess to begin with the force awakens was the best one and even then that was ish to me.
@RulerOfAll0 yeah, it was for me too, that's why i held off watching tlj, and boy am i glad i never saw that mess
@TheKisj me neither that’s why the hype doesn’t cover the actual movie
Vader in Rogue 1 and thes time Din went through a compound killing storm troopers to rescue Grogu are some of my favorites. Oh also Obi Wan annihilating Vader in that final Kenobi battle. Though Rebels has some amazing moments too. That I have nothing left to fear line is powerful. Wait why is Rei so high? Boba wrecking shop with a gaffi stick should be in that place.
Her saying I am no jedi gives me chills
My favorite is when Anakin defeats the son and daughter to free Ahsoka and Obi-Wan. That scene goes soooo hard
Season 3 episode 15 of the clone wars
I understand it's only cannon fights but damn, grievous(debut) vs jedi in the original clone wars should get a mention.
I REALLY can't believe I'm about to say this, but Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was THE Most Powerful Star Wars character of Them All, who Completely Went Full On Beast Mode!
The #1 entry really is awesome. And it's mostly due to the music.
It is truly something else.
The more emotion the better the fight.
One of my favorite badass scene in « Star Wars » is Rey vs. Kylo Ren on the Death Star in the Episode IX
Super cool idea for a list and good job with the picks. I may have just switched 3 and 4.
To be honest maul went so easy on Asoka he disarmed her 3x he just wanted her to be in his side not kill her
Boba doesn’t need the suit. It just improves his efficiency
How do you now put down the slaughter of the Separtists in Revenge of the Sith? That was an absolutely insane scene but a real good one.
Darth vader in rogue one gives me goosebumps everytime I see that scene
Sidious vs Maul and Oppress was easily the best duel....and Sidious was just toying with them
Pretty sure that Ashoka vs both inquisitors should have been on this list, they literally had no chance against her and she switches their own saber off!!
this is so well written… great compilation
I think Leia killing Jabba The Hutt should've made the list or at least been an honorable mention! Number was a cool choice, but not sure it was beast mode worthy!
