This was a pleasant surprise! I am finding more and more cool things about this sequel. It definitely isn't "DLC." This game really is above BotW in almost every way.
For me its a dlc, but a darn worthy one.

Tears of the Kingdom has already become my favourite video game in the entire universe. I know am looking way too far ahead lol but for the next Zelda game I would love for them to make it online multiplayer for a story driven game with dungeons, npcs. It would be so much fun being able to solve puzzles together with your friend Jibsoda who lives in France while you live in Mexico. Just imagine. Gaming is about being able to bring people together and what better way than an multiplayer 2D/3D mainline Zelda game. (No hack and slash, party or brawler.)
I love totk as well but Nintendo has always been notoriously bad with online stuff. I mean you can’t even form a party and chat with friends on the switch. It’s incredibly lacking. So I am incredibly doubtful the next Zelda will have any online…
Okay, this raid mechanic is so damn cool!
9:00 one thing that I started wondering since they showed the fusing system was, do we have to open the menu every single time we want to do elemental arrows or can we just spam like in botw. But now I’m seeing that this system is designed for you to used a little of everything unlike breath of the wild. You use a blue topaz for ice and then switch to your fire breathing shield and so on. And the creativity is insane
Once you fuse an arrow, the menu will stay on that item, so you dont have to keep finding and selecting the item over and over.
You can also sort the menu by most used items for easy access.
@MattH123 I know but it's still annoying that you can't just quick select the item. Having to pause the game each time takes people out of the flow

These were fun ideas for quests hopefully they expand upon them in future games because these were part of quests I believe
NPCs seem to attack too slowly. They take like 10 seconds to attack and enemies attack much faster than them.

Well the blood moon system is back and I got to encounter some silver enemies.

Tears of the Kingdom is so overwhelming with content. But so many repeating busywork tasks that feel like chores. Which are hard to ignore for someone like me, i feel guilty skipping things. I love the caves and the depths. But a lot of the game feels like the same formula of breath of the wild. I liked Botw a lot. But I thought the sequel would be a bit more different feel
Its a sequel so its suppose to feel familiar. Its a huge risk for Nintendo to make big changes to a formula that proved to be a massive hit. Those who love Botw will love Totk even more but those who liked or disliked botw may find totk more of the same.
The spring shield is literally the height glitch in BOTW!

This was literally my issue with botw, I don't care for post apocalyptic settings (love botw though don't get me wrong lol) but it's kinda baffling to me to see the select few who have said they prefer the "vibes" of botw over totk. What were those vibes loneliness and impending doom? 🤨

With tears of the kingdom link has had more time to build relationships with the people of hyrule. In breath of the wild everything was new to him and even after he regained his memories, everyone he knew were long dead. So it makes sense story wise.

I'm probably no longer part of Nintendo target age group, but as as someone who's played ALL of the Zelda games, I'd like to give some honest, generalized feedback, hoping that part of the wider team sees this post here. To start out, personally graphics are NOT important to me and there's a lot to like about TotK in terms of design. However, Zelda has always been about it's story through progressive character development and powerful, emotion eliciting music. Not how you can abuse the physics engine to sling across the map, or sidestep a puzzle, and not side quests. Both BotW and TotK feel akin to taking a great book, ripping out all of the pages, and encouraging you rearrange them in any order you like while being reminded at the end of each new section, repeatedly, that there was (at one point) a central plot. The series has replaced one extreme (too linear) with another.
Despite a linear game being generally viewed as unfavorable by the wider community, there are other open world games (Skyrim and Horizon: Zero Dawn as examples) that found ways of letting you explore without also giving you the freedom to rearrange segments of the story however you like. TotK could have made an open world where certain smaller areas just couldn't be reached or accessed without first completing a part of the story. This would have allowed for a central plot to be unravelled slowly while still giving you the freedom to do side quests, obtain new gear, and maybe goof around a bit. The antagonist of the story doesn't have to be revealed until the player is truly invested in the game world. Also, because of the decentralized nature of this game's story, and maybe due in part to translation, there's a lot of dialogue that is noticeably duplicated between each of the four main quests.
Despite all of the above remarks, I want to thank the Zelda team for their continued hard work and look forward to another entry in the series.

I'm on the fence with the fuse ability. It looks kinda ridiculous just to have a item just hanging off of your shield or sword. I thought they would actually redesign the weapon or shield but it just looks silly with lizarfos tail just at the end of a sword.
Some of them make more sense than others, like fusing Amber to a sword, especially a shorter one.
Nintendo wanted to create, a LABO like game element in TOTK.

Some look cool, depends on what you use, enemy horns with a stick or a sword actually look cool, but fusing overworld objects looks pretty ridiculous
Some items when fused to a weapon completely change the appearance of that weapon so don't worry, it ain't all that 1+1=11
Some of the monster horns seem to completely replace your swords blades resulting in weapons that are actually shorter than what you had before
So I just tried this, and it’s a lot more complicated than it seems 😂 it’s still fun but maybe I have to accumulate a crap ton of hearts frst
🤔Can I have sales pitch to the Zonai? 😊 Does The Zonai have better digital storage within the purdah pad like remembering what weapons that you ever had, to schematics of reusing zonai weapons and storing other non-zonai weapons? I never understood on why the map of the minus button is on the ZL toggle, so I thought I might have something a bit better than just a map of hyrule also can there be a zonai chest storage to reuse or put weapons away I keep finding good weapons in the video game tho I don’t want to give up good rare weapons that I don’t think can be recovered or brought back Also Does The Zonai have a build your own shrine and play other people’s Zonai shrine online? To give awards of their choosing Or is that asking the Zonai for too much?

It is better, botw is made for 2 console wii u and switch, wii u held botw back by a lot. Meanwhile totk is full switch game in mind
I got TOTK but I'm trying to finish BOTW first. I don't see myself revisiting BOTW anytime soon once I complete my playthrough. Constant rain everytime I want to climb something. Steep difficulty curve early game and I'm not feeling the weapon durability. TOTK looks way more fun

If Nintendo make a new console my idea
My original idea was have a dock that enhances the switch to have extra GPU power from the dock to boast speed and power (Asus ally have now done this with a proprietary cable).
Nintendo release a hand held and a home console which can be purchased together or desperately depending on your budget.
The hand held can stream with the latest WiFi band width and handle games at switch graphics or higher. Contain a 1080p screen once paired with home console (similar to wiiu). 800p will be standard native mode stand alone mode. There will also be a ethernet connection for portable console dock to stream to other rooms
The console will have 32gb ram, AMD 64 bit processor architecture and RX 7900 cable of Full HDR, RAY tracing and upto 170hz and variable refresh rate @4k & 1440p, with m.2 upgrade memory. An additional WiFi connection. Bluetooth upto 4x audio devices. Latest HDMI 2.1.
Principals:
GameCube, Wii remote and wiiu pad compatible.
Software developer:
Microsoft
Real Engine 4
And all back catalogue games purchased on switch available from day one.
Smash brothers to get an all stars remake with all versions having online feature
Super mario kart to get an all stars edition for all versions to be online plus single screen for snes version with upto 8x players

Zelda botw will revert to it's previous build where frame rate drop to too much context will now be available with additional HDR and variable frame rate

Interpredict interpolation sounds like a CPU heavy configuration; However the use of Gaussian (heavy or light precision) & spline interpolation, both temporal & resizing...

Switch 2 will most certainly not fail as long as the games are good which has always been the number 1 reason to own any nintendo console. It’s not the hardware itself, it’s the amazing games you can play. It’s the same reason why there’s basically no reason to own an Xbox bc you can playing 99% of the worthwhile Xbox games on PC with better hardware and performance. The #1 reason why a switch 2 maybe would be AS big as switch 1 is bc of things like steam deck. Being able to play straight up pc games portable is huge and obviously they realized how amazing of a concept the switch is and valve straight up copied the switch to a T haha. Borderline copyright infringement. I doubt Nintendo just does a “switch2” with bigger screen and processor. They will msot likely have some cool innovation on it that makes it unique and continues to separate them from the rest. But when they release Mario odyssey 2 and Metroid prime 4 as launch titles it’s gonna sell liek hot cakes brother. The next Nintendo console will not fail almost no matter what they do as long as they continue to put out ground breaking games… also Nintendo has built up a massive insane amount of good will with its consumer base I find it VERY unlikely the next Nintendo console flops unless they just totally do soemthing whacky and crazy tht nobody wants. Now this isn’t out of the realm of possibility (we’ve seen it before) but overall they’ve got more hits than misses so let’s sick back and see. The launch titles are most important and it’s probably going to be Metroid 4 and a new 3D Mario. Then they’ll probably throw in a Zelda remaster. Ppl are clamoring for TP and windwaker remake/remaster so they throw tht into the mix too they’ll do just fine.

@Joe Ah damn, my copy arriving later today. I still don't understand how Nintendo is content with releasing games that run at 30fps, 60 should be the minimum for consoles across the board. But if its 30 they should at least be ensuring its a stable 30, not 30 with frequent major dips. In 2023 it's so poor.

They are running it on a old handheld basically. I don't get how they squeezed this giant marvel of a game into the switch. But yeah, it sucks that 30 fps isn't locked. Hopefully a patch will sort.

I had to give up on the game because the shrines are practically impossible to complete so there's no way to level up. I cannot unlock certain towers either because the regions are either too hot or too cold and I cannot climb certain areas to even reach the towers to begin with
It's impossible to obtain majora's mask because the developers just had to make it about a lynel fight in order to do so this time instead of just placing it in a chest somewhere like they did in BOTW..
