Imagine you're a phone, waiting to be unboxed, expecting to see your eventual owner, and what interesting things he will do, and then when you come out, you see this guy.
Yeah yeah. I get the infatuation with things. People give them attributes of living beings. Thankfully, not the phone, nor car or anything can feel anything.
You'll know that technology is evolving when Jerry says "There are scratches at a level 7, with deeper grooves at a level 8" when scratch testing a flagship phone.
Well tbh would it make that much of a difference? For these videos and on paper sure, but in real usage? Long ago scratches were a pretty big concern. But putting Gorilla Glass on phones basically fixed that. With a perfectly clean screen holding it in the perfect position I can make out 2 super tiny scratches after 4 years. And I'm not super careful trying to prevent that stuff. No screen protector. My old Oneplus One has a slightly larger scratch but even that is only visible when searching for it from pretty weird angles.
Great video as always, Zack! I have a question for you. The nothing phone (1) is currently only certified to work with European networks. Seeing as you love interesting hardware, would you be willing to import and use a nothing phone (1) if it means sacrificing some cellular connectivity capabilities with it? What would your point of compromise be with uniqueness vs. functionality?
Zach, it would be really nice to see some smartwatches being tested, especially ones with a Sapphire glass, it's always nice to see things that don't scratch at level 6
a durability test/ tear down on the 'reMarkable' tablets would make an interesting video. They claim to be the world's thinnest tablet, but also have some pretty cool tech inside.
Great test as usual, but considering the issues users are getting with this phone, I would really love to see you testing it on humidity and dust conditions, and checking the dead pixels after a few weeks of use. If you kept your model, specially after this test, your feedback would be very interesting!
Hey Zack, the exclamation mark shows the battery percentage when the phone is laid down flat on display. You have to bump the phone slightly and then the indicator will show. It doesn't work while you're holding it.
@Alex the battery led usage is probably in the instructions he didn't read for a phone he was unfamiliar with. Like realistically it was most likely user error rather than hardware or software errors
@GAMING YT do you play on pc? If so the leds used in many pc builds are completely useless unlike the ones on the phone. For those that are hard of hearing it can flash for notification and calls and often people don't want to have to turn their phone on in order to check percentage. Literally every single led on that phone as a use.
Hey Zack you should keep on doing unique phones like this one. You should also check out the most popular budget phones from companies like Google and Samsung which are the pixel 6a and galaxy a53 since most people tend to buy those rather than 1k dollar flagships.
i have to admit that even though i have seen many of jerry's videos it still saddens me when he tries his level best to break them in half! having a mobile phone is no longer a luxury and so trying your best to break them is what has made this channel so popular.
This reminds me of all my Nokia phones that I had that each looks very different from the others unlike todays phone looks and feels the same. I looks the same with the other phones but seems different with the see through back and all its depth and shapes under the glass and the lights. Even the flips and folding looks similar with the slab phones all looks the same to but this Nothing seems seems to break the mold and pattern than the flips and folding.
@Forefather Of Mankind The Founder basically admitted that he is aware this phone isn't nearly as good as other phones out there, but this was their first phone on the market and it was literally just to get their name out there and if it sells well then the next model will be much better. You can find him saying that if you search for the video where someone has him review the iphone 14 pro.
@Devwardhan Kothari how? selling point for carl pei oneplus was flagship performanc on a budget. nothing phone is just a budget phone with led gimmick. People will eventually be tired of this and move on.
Jerry always writes down the hardness scale on the sticker from 1-10, but never scatches until 10 - I would love to see him scratch a display with all levels up to 10 one day just to see how much damage it does 😃 Am I the only one? 😃
I'm glad to hear your phone is also 3 years old. I still enjoy my pixel 3 and new phones just aren't impressive enough to upgrade and lose my normal fingerprint reader and dual speakers
just got one today, and very happy so far.. replaced my Oneplus Nord (good riddance to that POS, screen came loose a while back which I got fixed (common issue), then screen cracked internally after a small drop yesterday.. had bluetooth signal issues as well). fingers crossed this is a better phone.. better than nothing? for sure. ;)
Hi, please perform a durability test on the Oneplus 10T as well. I feel the durability test is done best by you, as that is how it really should be done!!
Sweet, I asked for it last week and now here it is. I wonder if this works for other stuff. I would like to have world peace! or alternatively I would take 500 bucks for a new phone 🤪
Zack, you forgot to do the scratch test on the back of the phone. It'll be interesting to know how the back of the phone holds up to scratches as it isn't a gorilla glass.
I still remember the first time, nokia also used the side light and followed the ring tone like this too. But I don't care because I like the shape of the cellphone, whatever they say. The important thing is that I like the cellphone.
First time watching this, do D bag screen protectors and cases always go out of their way to copy better companies or is it just when it is a small company trying to do new things?
Hey Zack or anyone on this thread, Have any of you had this Import working in the US? All the chatter and company disclaimers lead me to believe it will work on T-Mobile but they are not allowed to say that yet and perhaps requires a software update to be fully compliant. I want to order one but need someone to please confirm it will operate on T-Mobile here in the US. Thank you and keep up the great Videos.
@Nick Fosley I acknowledge it was an honest mistake and just simply pointed it out. Politely in fact, I didn't "hate". I don't see what the bad vibes are regarding that. If I didn't post what I posted, pretty sure someone else would've.
@Tj Javier Don't be "that" guy, we get it, the original poster thought Zack came up with the name, honest mistake. There's no need to point them out, just let them live.
I say this channel is very informative, one will be cautious buying in future by knowing what kind of good quality part company used, and one will be satisfied buying good phone and using it.
I've got the phone for one week now and using it as a daily driver. I'm very happy with it and I have nothing bad to say about it. You can't compare it to iPhone or other top tier brands but that's should be clear
Also plan(ned) to keep my note 10+ for longer. The screen broke 2 days ago, very small area but slowly growing possibly because of pressure and this heat. Any suggestions? Keep it til its done, sell online, trade in with Samsung to upgrade to maybe the next "note." it'll be 1k if a trade in to get the S22 Ultra(newest note). Any other (cheaper) phones to get?
Next step: phones with ambilight, so that they may actually look translucent? It can be very low power, low resolution behind grey frosted glass. And it will create a compelling illusion. It could even channel the selfie cam for that extra dimension.
@O Micron A pessimistic view but each to their own, I enjoy the bold controversial design they exhibit, It's reminiscent of the days of outlandish design when the likes of Nokia had to push the boat out as phone features had plateaued and it made little to no difference who you went with, it really helps to stand above the endless sprawl of bland, dreary grey slabs we have on offer at this price point.. hence why i chose this over a "pants down" contract, besides if you can recommend another worthy contender as stylish as this for the same premium, let me know.. 🫰🏽
Oh my, that bend test didn't break the phone but it was nerve-wracking 100%. Glad I can now consider buying it, I really only waited for your durability test to confirm it's solid.
Finally! Great to see the Nothing Phone 1 being durability tested nicely on your end. Can't wait for the teardown part. I hope to see any of the 2022 Galaxy A phones being tested by you as well. Curious to see how a Galaxy A13 will survive lol.
Hey Zack, I was wondering if you'd be willing to do a durability test on the Samsung A53 5G, it released earlier this year, I have one myself and find it to be a pretty good phone.
Definitely looks like an interesting phone, might look into getting whatever phone they inevitably end up releasing in the US if it stacks up to this one
MKBHD showcased that loading thingy. You probably have to turn it on first, but you have to bump or wiggle the phone around when it's charging and laying on the display.
Zach I think you ought to use both the feature update if the Phone 1 plus use is panel to demonstrate the severity of damage a level 9 or 10 would do to a phone. I'd luv to assist ya with a script for the segment if you're interested. Just a fun idea for u. Cheers, Ryan
I really appreciate the red blinking light when you're recording video. This Nothing phone looks like a phone that I see myself buying if it has flagship specs (because I buy a phone every 4 years and sell my old phone secondhand, because that's even better than recycling)
The whole phone for its price and specs looks far better than most midrangers of other brands and competitors. There arent amny phones better for that price level and those for are are usualy filled with heacy bloatware. So nothing to give it a try and it can really be your best friend to buy. I definitely like it.
Imagine you're a phone, waiting to be unboxed, expecting to see your eventual owner, and what interesting things he will do, and then when you come out, you see this guy.
He is gonna cut me open
A nightmare for a phone 😂 jerry is the nightmare on elm street for smart phones. The horror!
UNSUBSCRIBING TO THIS BIAS ASSHOLE SPECIALLY THAT BEND TEST.. LOL NO ACTUAL MEASURE OF STRENGTH BEING EXERTED
Yeah yeah. I get the infatuation with things. People give them attributes of living beings. Thankfully, not the phone, nor car or anything can feel anything.
💀
Watching this durability test on my Nothing Phone feels very weird 😅
Is it worth it? I'm looking to upgrade from my old s7 edge
*I lost it at 'something'* 😂
*But definitely a great idea for phone covers!*
Jerry was afraid of nothing, so he found Nothing and killed it
Can water enter the phone through the antenna line after the bending?
You'll know that technology is evolving when Jerry says "There are scratches at a level 7, with deeper grooves at a level 8" when scratch testing a flagship phone.
fun fact: a grain of sand in your pocket is more able to scratch your phone than your keys
@Kiina yup scratches are a minor concern now. The thing we need is crack resistant glass.
If you noticed from all of Zack’s durability tests the level 6 is getting more and more thinner. We are getting there just have to be patient.
Check out the actual sapphire displays (not the iPhone that one's worse than glass)
The amount of times I’ve heard this man say “We see scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7” is honestly insane
Glass is glass
I mean, it pretty much always is glass. It just shows when a product is super shitty and went for an alternative material for the screen
I also own note 10+ and not impressed by new phones :)
I love how dbrand lets you pull their sponsored screen protector out of the box and immediately shatter it. A+ content 😁
As always JerryScratchEverything😂
Imagine this a guy as courier delivery guy
Great video as always, Zack!
I have a question for you. The nothing phone (1) is currently only certified to work with European networks. Seeing as you love interesting hardware, would you be willing to import and use a nothing phone (1) if it means sacrificing some cellular connectivity capabilities with it? What would your point of compromise be with uniqueness vs. functionality?
Zach, it would be really nice to see some smartwatches being tested, especially ones with a Sapphire glass, it's always nice to see things that don't scratch at level 6
also these do not have deeper grooves at level 7
That's what I'm waiting for... and also the teardown... But, must wait for that.
I'm totally impressed by the elasticity of the protective glass before it brakes !!!!! 😮😮😮
a durability test/ tear down on the 'reMarkable' tablets would make an interesting video. They claim to be the world's thinnest tablet, but also have some pretty cool tech inside.
NOTHING hurts me more than seeing Zack wreck an aesthetically pleasing phone. 😉😂
For the exclamation point to show the charging level, you've got to activate the feature in the settings
Thanks for today's video, Jerry! Let's say that your effort that you put into this video sure was 'something'
Bend test became an integral part of QC checklist for phone manufacturers after Jerry started making these videos!
Great test as usual, but considering the issues users are getting with this phone, I would really love to see you testing it on humidity and dust conditions, and checking the dead pixels after a few weeks of use. If you kept your model, specially after this test, your feedback would be very interesting!
To show the battery on the back while charging, you have to turn on the option in the settings
Hey Zack, the exclamation mark shows the battery percentage when the phone is laid down flat on display. You have to bump the phone slightly and then the indicator will show. It doesn't work while you're holding it.
@Senbono gyaku Yes more than likely. I was making a sarcastic joke, based on the fact this phone is “inspired” by iPhone design (Antenna gate).
@Alex the battery led usage is probably in the instructions he didn't read for a phone he was unfamiliar with. Like realistically it was most likely user error rather than hardware or software errors
“You’re holding it wrong” 😜
@GAMING YT do you play on pc? If so the leds used in many pc builds are completely useless unlike the ones on the phone. For those that are hard of hearing it can flash for notification and calls and often people don't want to have to turn their phone on in order to check percentage. Literally every single led on that phone as a use.
That's dumb
Oh yes, damaged friction lines. I had a lot of trouble with even the capacitive sensors, nothing beats face id in my opinion.
I would love to see you testing the claimed IP ratings of the phones
Hi Jerry in this case I think a scratch test of the back would be quite interesting as well. Anyway, great review :)
Jerry's review always genuine ,awesome...👍
Hey Zack you should keep on doing unique phones like this one. You should also check out the most popular budget phones from companies like Google and Samsung which are the pixel 6a and galaxy a53 since most people tend to buy those rather than 1k dollar flagships.
i have to admit that even though i have seen many of jerry's videos it still saddens me when he tries his level best to break them in half! having a mobile phone is no longer a luxury and so trying your best to break them is what has made this channel so popular.
I am so excited for the teardown to this phone 🤩
This reminds me of all my Nokia phones that I had that each looks very different from the others unlike todays phone looks and feels the same. Even the flips and folding looks similar with the slab phones all looks the same to but this Nothing seems seems to break the mold and pattern than the flips and folding.
A midrange Nothing has a stronger structure than the flagship OnePlus 10 Pro really shows us how OnePlus has settled after Pei left
Not really. The One Plus Nord 2T is much more rigid because of the camera
@Devwardhan Kothari how? selling point for carl pei oneplus was flagship performanc on a budget. nothing phone is just a budget phone with led gimmick. People will eventually be tired of this and move on.
Well i guess good thing I'm still rocking my OnePlus 5T then..
@Fyn Kozari SD gen 2+
The only down side is why they have to make it look like an iPhone….
Absolutely love your videos Jerry. When you get to scraping the frame, I cringe 😬. It's like scratching in a chalkboard
Optical fingerprint works pretty well on my s21. My fingerprint is pretty worn as I work in the trades
I really want to buy a "something" skin for my Mi 11, but i guess Xiaomi isn't in DBrand's bucket list 😅
Jerry always writes down the hardness scale on the sticker from 1-10, but never scatches until 10 - I would love to see him scratch a display with all levels up to 10 one day just to see how much damage it does 😃 Am I the only one? 😃
I'd love to see him absolutely destroy and iPhone 13 Pro and then give it away for kicks and giggles 😂
He has done it before. 10 basically cracks the glass
@BarbarianKingGamer no one cares it’s funny
He's done a level 8 and 9 scratch in one video, it was the one where he talks about hiw a machine can get rid of scratches from a screen
@BarbarianKingGamer He sometimes refers to himself as Jerry in his videos.

Sweet, I asked for it last week and now here it is.
I wonder if this works for other stuff.
I would like to have world peace! or alternatively I would take 500 bucks for a new phone 🤪
Hopefully functional design would take off from this.. 🤞🙏
Zack, you forgot to do the scratch test on the back of the phone. It'll be interesting to know how the back of the phone holds up to scratches as it isn't a gorilla glass.
I will always be stuck between loving and hating these videos seeing really cool phones I want being ruined on video lol
I still remember the first time, nokia also used the side light and followed the ring tone like this too. But I don't care because I like the shape of the cellphone, whatever they say. The important thing is that I like the cellphone.
This video is a pun overload like nothing else. Great review as always
If dbrand made the Something grip case for OnePlus 8 Pro, I would buy it, but it's not yet available for that phone unfortunately
First time watching this, do D bag screen protectors and cases always go out of their way to copy better companies or is it just when it is a small company trying to do new things?
1:55 iPhone after : ladies and Gentlemen Now the new iphone comes with a beatboxing feature
[SOLD SEPARATELY!]
Don't know but the Note 10 Plus just feels perfect even though it is outdated.... Proud owner.. ❤️
2:23 it looks like the exclamation mark lights up partially for a second before flashing and lighting up fully.
Nothing amazing yet your review is bringing something looking forward to purchase
The "Something" skin. hahahah. Sometimes its as if Jerry is running Dbrand's Marketing and Creativity Department. So creative.
oh look. a rich family who probably makes vidoes all about their toys self promoting. what's new.
Copying/stealing the design from the "Nothing (1)" is the *OPPOSITE* of being creative 🤦♂.
Bello
@Nick Fosley I acknowledge it was an honest mistake and just simply pointed it out. Politely in fact, I didn't "hate". I don't see what the bad vibes are regarding that. If I didn't post what I posted, pretty sure someone else would've.

I'd love to see this phone with a Snapdragon 888
This video is funny, yet informative too! 😂🙌
I say this channel is very informative, one will be cautious buying in future by knowing what kind of good quality part company used, and one will be satisfied buying good phone and using it.
That nothing something part was hilarious. D-brand doesn't take themselves seriously lol
"In a world of boring rectangles, nothing is here to save us"
Best quote I've ever heard
Edit: thanks for the likes!
@Araiguma Alice Kiruno that's why nothing is here to save us😢
cringe edit, go back to reddit
Nothing is still a boring rectangle
Nothing starts with n and ends with g
I was really hoping that they were going to come out with something actully different like the LG Wing.
The phone looks nice on the back only. And I have a note 10+ and I still love it better than the new phones
I would have bought this if it had removable storage and a headphone jack.
Hint: the strange noise made while bending the phone, is the battery adhesive flexing
I think you find the most resistant phone at bending test 🤣💪
So excited to see this one taken apart! Bet it’s going to be particularly interesting this time
@Coolguy69 no hes a fake
Whait a u real xavier
I've got the phone for one week now and using it as a daily driver. I'm very happy with it and I have nothing bad to say about it. You can't compare it to iPhone or other top tier brands but that's should be clear
@Andrew Farrugia copied what? Copied comment? Wouldn’t doubt it, MrWhooseTheBoss had several duplicate comments under his video
Copied make
Jerry: That's a beautiful looking phone right there.
Still Jerry: Let's tear it apart!!!
i love the aesthetics of this phone
That's a really cool sim toolkit you've got. Any link to where can i find it? Or did you make it yourself somehow?
The light going along with the sound and certain light strips lighting up is pretty awesome.
The longevity of those lights is worrisome.
@Edvardas N its still pretty awesome, in the world where other phones has literality no notification light
For a one time party trick sure. Then you never look at the back of the phone again
Jerry: "Trying fingerprints on new phone."
Also his fingers: "My time has come"
Also plan(ned) to keep my note 10+ for longer.
It could even channel the selfie cam for that extra dimension.
i would really want this phone as a upgrade from my A22 5g
I think the charging led animation works if you leave the phone screen-down when charging, and you shake it a bit left right 😉
Cool
@O Micron A pessimistic view but each to their own, I enjoy the bold controversial design they exhibit, It's reminiscent of the days of outlandish design when the likes of Nokia had to push the boat out as phone features had plateaued and it made little to no difference who you went with, it really helps to stand above the endless sprawl of bland, dreary grey slabs we have on offer at this price point.. hence why i chose this over a "pants down" contract, besides if you can recommend another worthy contender as stylish as this for the same premium, let me know.. 🫰🏽
People worship over cheap phone with few cheap leds
Just like we shake the dick after we pee? Correct?
I just tap the indicator or run your finger up it, that works 😉
So many good jokes here- Way to make reviews entertaining 😹
Oh my, that bend test didn't break the phone but it was nerve-wracking 100%. Glad I can now consider buying it, I really only waited for your durability test to confirm it's solid.
The smoothest unboxing 🙌🏻 would like this vid twice if I could !
You should have done drop test for checking led lights durability.
Finally! Great to see the Nothing Phone 1 being durability tested nicely on your end. Can't wait for the teardown part. I hope to see any of the 2022 Galaxy A phones being tested by you as well. Curious to see how a Galaxy A13 will survive lol.
Can't believe adults in 2022 are excited about a phone with dancing LEDs in it.
We are indeed living in a tiktok/reels era.
It's one of the phones that students hate the most. 😂
This is what I was eagerly waiting for.. 💯
I can't see him doing a durability test on a car with these scratch tests and such. 🤣
Hey Zack, I was wondering if you'd be willing to do a durability test on the Samsung A53 5G, it released earlier this year, I have one myself and find it to be a pretty good phone.
I was expecting this review 🥳🥳🥳 Thanks jerry 😌
Definitely looks like an interesting phone, might look into getting whatever phone they inevitably end up releasing in the US if it stacks up to this one
Nice video. Nothing phone 1 is a good midrange mobile. Nice build quality and durability.
Its heartbreaking to see the phone you wanna buy getting ripped.
Hey Zack, It would be really nice to see Vivo x80 pro testing. Thanks
That first scrape down the metal side was PAINFUL 😖 EEK!
This video is lowkey comedy, I had so much fun
My Nothing Phone will come next week, happy to see that's pretty resistant
MKBHD showcased that loading thingy. You probably have to turn it on first, but you have to bump or wiggle the phone around when it's charging and laying on the display.
Zach I think you ought to use both the feature update if the Phone 1 plus use is panel to demonstrate the severity of damage a level 9 or 10 would do to a phone. I'd luv to assist ya with a script for the segment if you're interested. Just a fun idea for u.
Cheers,
Ryan
After watching so many phone teardown videos, nothing is big deal.
I really appreciate the red blinking light when you're recording video.
This Nothing phone looks like a phone that I see myself buying if it has flagship specs (because I buy a phone every 4 years and sell my old phone secondhand, because that's even better than recycling)
Zack and jerry the name of a original man as always best video with wordings❤️
Led diode inspired sim ejectr tool.....i loved it🥰
I would like to ask, what about the phone's after you test them like you sell them or keep Aside ?
That phone is so cool, wow.
I am so glad the transparent aesthetic is coming back.
We should respect technology in our Hand..🙏🏻💯💯
The whole phone for its price and specs looks far better than most midrangers of other brands and competitors.
There arent amny phones better for that price level and those for are are usualy filled with heacy bloatware.
So nothing to give it a try and it can really be your best friend to buy.
I definitely like it.
