In The TOMORROW WAR, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). This movie was way better than it had any right to be. Movie has a lot of heart to it- loved it
@tomek SOZANnone of those are plot holes. They state that the time travel device was a prototype that they were lucky even worked. The time travel technology they were using went back exactly 30 years to the past and 30 years to the future. If the time travelers from the future spent n days in the past, then they could only return to the future of 30 years +n days from their original arrival date. Given the limitation of the time travel device, they used the untrained civilians to stall the aliens while they captured the queen to produced the toxin. The plan all along was to create the toxin and send it back in time so that humans in the past could be prepared for the extinction event. There was never a chance in hell that even with the time travel they could ever hope to defeat the invaders.

I really cried in some scenes of this movie ... I don't want to spoil too much, but for example when he hugs everyone back it's really touching especially for those who know how it feels to find someone you loved, far away, after some time and after a lot of experience done. It reminded me of many scenes in my life and I hope one day to have my second chance.
I really enjoyed it. Good film.
I guess some people didn't like the movie. I liked it, actually, it was entertaining and it did answer at least some important questions that you'd wonder; example: why don't they just travel to when it started? does changing the past change the future's timeline? where were they the whole time, and how long did it take for 'em to take over the planet?
I don't think it was set up for a sequel; however, they can still make a spin-off of sorts, to show when the creatures first started taking over.
I recommend this movie.
I assume that they timejump into a parallel timeline, so changing that past doesn't change their own future. That's why they can draft people without destroying their own future.
The movie made an emphasis on how it isn’t a paradox. No extra timeline. Just the present time and 30 years later.
Yeah it was pretty good so far the only movie from this year that didn't make me wanna tear my eyes out.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to just warn the past about the coming war so they can have 30 years of prep time?
This is the kind of Time Travel where the future branches keep living their fates regarding of the corrections in the past, so they would be condemned to death anyway.

To the people who haven't seen the movie and ask about the time questions, they explained this in the movie really well since I just saw it, Time is held together with the 1 machine to go back like an anchor in a stream. There is less than 500k humans left fighting and only people who can go back into time that won't mess with time are those that die within a certain amount of years. They only had one machine barely built together with rubber band and used tech to scan the planet to find the aliens but couldn't find them so they think the aliens landed during a certain time period. The rest you'll have to watch the movie for.

Just finished watching it, and I have to say it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's about 2 hours and 11 minutes, but, it's worth your time. Very very recommending it.
This movie just made America the only country that exist to defend the world.
it wasnt america tho, the government had pretty much fallen, it was some research grousps, and a small part of the military fighting off of bases in the ocean
Still a cool thing though. Better than diversity saving the galaxy like in Star Wars.

You know, the character Chris Pratt played in this movie might as well be the same character that he played in Jurassic World. The names and families maybe different, but the person is pretty much identical.
Like the guy that played the falcon said: superhero movies made being a superstar and actor irrelevant they no longer are known for being a good actor they are known as superhero and are given roles based on how good of a character the hero is.
The Rock is the mentor.

I also loved this movie...with lots of symbols and allegory.
There was the lying politician, a senseless strategy sending masses into a suicide mission, almost bullet-proof aliens, a side-tracking development and so on. Despite this I liked it...it was crazy with the hysterical, semi-intelligent and powerful aliens, it would be cool to see a fight between them and the xenomorphs, lol.

Watched it!! It’s awesome fun. Yes CGI isn’t perfect but who cares. The questions you have about time travel are all pretty well explained, I was satisfied enough that it didn’t matter. Action is great!! Go watch it!!

I liked the movie, Infact the touch of family emotions really increased the level of this sci-fi. The scenes were amazing. However, there are just too many lucky occurrences that kind of kills the tension.
Never thought I’d say this about a Chris Pratt movie… but it is outstanding. I mean yeah, he plays the same character he does in every film. Jurassic Star Lord.
But the film itself is just bananas lol. Excellent creature design, good plot and story, good characters. There are some curious narrative choices that don’t makes sense in the final act, but whatever. It’s all for the sake of good fun.
And this movie was wicked fun 👌

The creature design was beautiful and one of my favorite things about the movie.

@Ryan macharika ah whatever, until two days after I made my original comment they had Yvonne ( I'm not even gonna try with her surname) listed as " commander Vicki Winslow" on imdb and Wikipedia. Then magically the characters name changed to confirm it was the daughter. Probably because they realised how badly they telegraphed what they intended to be a twist. You don't believe that, go read the comments on the original trailer that called it just like I did and she was only in THAT trailer for one scene.

Amazon finally made a movie with some depth of character and story. It has decent CG, but it's not the focus. It's an action flick, a story of survival, a story of redemption, and a story of second chances!!! You gotta see this one.... Finally a good independent film. Such a relief after the poor showing of Without Remorse!!

You know what would be really cool in a film where the world is being attacked. Seeing it happening in multiple countries. You could have a few characters the film follows all in different places fighting the same thing but in different ways with differerent tactics and terrain etc. And it means that the main characters aren't even safe which makes it more realistic, grounded, tense and unpredictable

@Muhammad Arif Billah Then tell me. Why could they go back in time and change the timeline (by going back and enlisting tens of thousands of people), but not prepare that timeline for a future war?
It just does not make sense. They have already changed the past by going there and recruiting people, so why not change it even more?
But nah, everything ends up just the way I say they should have done it from the beginning... But saving 500.000 people is apparently more important than saving 9 billion people.
