I don't approve of comment rating requests and I think it's the typical corporate cultural decline for any company of micromanagement until it kills you. My grandpa was a mechanic in the airforce and he had conversations with engineers about how some designs are impossible to service as long as 50 or 60 years ago. Either way, calling it a wire is just as incorrect as calling it a chain. Rope or Sling would both be much more appropriate. If you're going to go through the trouble of correcting someone, do it correctly.

Yes, it IS legal to own an AUTOMATIC rifle (aka a “machine gun” or continuous fire). It's just that you have to pay through the nose due to the law ... the Law of Supply & Demand. Well, that plus the $200 (USD) tax stamp.
No “license” needed to purchase a SEMI-AUTOMATIC firearm (small arms or rifles), as a license connotes asking the govt for “permission” to whats enshrined in the 2nd Amendment as the RTKBA.
We do, however, need permission/license to drive a vehicle, as driving is a privilege, and not a right.

@gareth kalum well like I said, I think they launched an actual car but didn't get the air time needed for some of those shots, thus the theory that they launched an inflatable as well just to make it look good.

The obvious answer for the switch is because it's hard to aim a trebuchet. It's easy to pull a crane over the top of a target.

@Nate KK7 ••-• ••• -•-• watching again - yaknow, I think they did both. The shots where the car is REALLY flying has to be an inflatable. But other shots with the cam on the car, one of the launches itself, I think those used a real car. The wheels turning and shocks reaction seem authentic. The drop at the end, yet another real car, definitely crane though because straight down. But - that REALLY wide shot where it's SUPER high and FLYING - I don't think that could be a real car, that treb couldn't launch it that far, which also helps explain why the final shot is a crane drop.

@Erik Knepfler it’s not that hard to launch a car with a trebuchet although it was most likely stripped of virtually all the interior nonvisible parts to make it lighter. It’s been done on more than one occasion.
