I expected Katlyn to add the poop spray as a scent without Evan knowing 🤣

After watching this a second time with my sister, I have some thoughts for BIG Candle mark 2.
1) there is specialized glue for candle wicks that won't melt when you pour the wax in. It keeps them from floating up when you pour the wax in.
2) it may be actually easier to hand place the wicks, but use a jig to mark where to place each one with colored powder. This is commonly used to marking sewing pattern edges.
3) different candle wicks have different melt radiuses, so you could make a super wide candle by spacing out the wicks more and utilizing their melt radiuses.
4) definitely make it poop scented.

When I was a teenager, my friend and I thought it would be a great idea to go outside and light 100 tealight candles all at once. The wax fused together and created a flame that burned a hole in the shadecloth of the patio. Thanks for reminding me of the folly of my youth hahahaha

I love that Evan thought putting the bag on a high shelf because "you're too short" would stop you 😂 he should know by now that short people are 10x more squirrely than average people, and we can and will climb anything necessary to get what we want!

I just love how Katelyn became a cat in this one and really wanted to take the poop spray out of the trashcan and Evan had to human her and be like " NOOO" 😂

They essentially made an oil drum and were surprised that it got hot 😅😅 brilliant

as a candle maker myself, i am scared and mesmarized at the same time.. excited to hear you're planning to create a version 2 with a more functional one. would recommend spacing each wick about 2-3 inches apart. cant wait

I would love to see you guys make a dipped and carved candle. Those things are gorgeous and you guys could get so creative.

10:53 to 12:36 was the absolute hardest I have laughed in YEARS. I was CRYING. I couldn't BREATHE. I feel like I've done a full ab workout or something. ohh, laughing that hard hurt so much. I managed to calm down a little and then Katelyn revealed that she knew the whereabouts of the spray and Evan's incredulous "YOU'VE KNOWN ?!!?!?" had me rolling on the floor all over again. You're realistic about them, and show how to solve them, as someone who is just getting into crafting and my own 3d printing/resin/laminating projects not only do you inspire me, but seeing you go through so many of your own problems helps me not give up. Not sure if I am the only one to notice. But the metal container was advertised as galvanized. Which means that there is a chance that the smoke was due to burning the zinc. Hope you both are okay.

Out of all of your videos, this one made me the most nervous. There have been cases of candles exploding due to the outside heating faster than the inside. This is a lot bigger and way hotter than those.

I've been having a rough week, and just wanted to thank y'all for making me laugh so hard I cried with the poop spray shenanigans.

If you're planning a second iteration, it will be immensely easier to place actual candles instead of individual wicks. Space them as desired and optionally fill the void with additional wax.

Hi! I’m a chandler (candle maker) and I can explain what happened when the wicks “disappeared”. It’s not actually the wax that’s on fire! The wax is evaporating rapidly, and what’s fueling the candle at that point is actually the fragrance! The fragrance blends are often oil, alcohol, and other flammable materials. It looks like your fire actually burned the wicks faster than the wax could melt at the start & that’s why they disappeared. Love a good campfire candle though!

Seeing this candle trajectory, I bet it's only a matter of time until Evan and Katelyn experiments with making a fire tornado with box fans.

The candle moved on from being a wick candle to an oil fire. You can do this with a single tealight candle too, though it is a very bad idea. My partner had a black burnt circle on his desk from where this happened once 🙈

Be very careful with boiling wax fires, they pretty much the same as an oil fire, so don't use water to extinguish it. With your lid you had the right idea. But you always should have an fire extinguisher handy that is suitable for oil fires. And monitor it until its cooled down, because such an fire can reignite pretty fast.

Whilst you were searching for a container, I was staring at the PC thinking you need to make replacement panels out of resin or velvet, or even the mood paint on the PC case, those would look so cool, and once you have a mould you can make loads of different panels for it, with loads of different ideas. Also a Joob front panel so its just Joob lit up by LED's

Make version 2.0. I gotta see it!
Also, my suggestion for next time is to make it so that you skip the wood insert on the bottom and use about 10 to 20 1/4th inch wide pure cotton rope made from butchers twine that has been pre soaked in wax beforehand. I also recommend making the outer container out of a metal that ( when heated) has been verified not to give people metal fume fever. ( because safty is a good thing! )

You should try using a cake pan they come in massive sizes for wedding cakes and would be the same proportions as a tea light

For the next one, how about two layers of laser cut guiding thingys? One that could get glued or even bolted down and stay at the bottom holding the wicks and one that gets pulled up to hold them straight.
And if i remember correctly it’s primarily the wax in gas form that is burning on candles 🕯️🙂

You legit made this 100x harder than it needed to be. Hang the wicks, pour the wax. You know, like they've been doing for centuries.

this was such a great video. The editing is always on point but it just really had me laughing for the entire video, the rave montages, the mystery of the poop spray being solved, the sneaky retrieval from the trash bag... not to mention the fear of the final result and relief that nothing bad happened!!

You know, maybe it would be easier to make an 1,000 wick candle if you got some wax sheets and rolled them around each wick until you had 1,000 pencil thin candles and then just grouped them all together in a mold and poured in wax to fill in the gaps ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Might be too expensive or time consuming though

This is going to be fun. I saw the thumbnail and immediately thought this was going to be fun.
I was at a church and they did a little service one evening where everybody lit a candle and put it in a 3 x 5 box filled with sand. We just about set off the smoke alarms with probably 20 candles.

If you want to make a reusable version, instead of a lot of small wicks it's also possible to just make a thick cardboard tube all around the outside - like a stick candle, but bigger. I bought one of those off a small business locally and gave it to my dad as a gift and they use it in the summer at night in the garden for ambience. Can be refilled with all those wax scraps from your other candles, though of course the candle won't last forever. As you said, the entire surface of the wax is burning at the end so a) you can't just blow it out and b) that liquid wax is very, very dangerous. My dad picked the candle up once and the wax flowed over his hands, he basically burned the skin off (hospital treated it quite well and luckily it healed nicely, but it was a serious injury!). Not sure what is required to make the cardboard wick on the outside so wouldn't recommend it to laypeople without further research but you guys could pull it off. Plus it's possible to decorate the outside with colour/patterns!

This reminded me of how at the end of a medieval camping thing we did every year, we would melt all the left over partial candles into a giant one. We usually could use it as a campfire on the last night with the size.😂
After a while the wax surface just caught fire no matter the amount of wicks.
