That’s how you deliver a clean hit. Not launched at his head, no extending arms wherever or even a cross check. Just a clean body blow to an opponent who wasn’t looking.

I've always loved the way tkachuk plays. I wish he were on my team. I wouldn't be surprised if his brother has a cup run in a few years either. Skilled big guys who are willing to grind and use the body are an absolute must to make it far in the playoffs.

@Clark807 omg! If you had him on your team you would love the way he plays, do I like it when he plays like Lemieux (Claude). I don’t like play that crosses the line, but I would give just about anything to have a guy who plays with heart, and 100% each shift, that also happens to put up 100 points a season. Also, he isn’t chicken s$&@ because he would drop the gloves with anyone.

He will get his and I can't wait, he is the only reason I am cheering for the Knights. I hate players like him always have always will. I have watched hockey for over 50 years and dirt is dirt. He takes a predatory run and you call it clean, entent matters and so does history. You can see the shoulder is injured and that was his intent. Some people do not have a moral compass his dad was known to be a cheap shot as well. But he did not turtle everytime he was asked to pay the price for his actions.

    • Souless Shadow
Souless Shadow 3 months ago +69

@Dennis Schultz You've been watching 50 years, and think that was a dirty hit? That sounds like a lie to me bud. If you've been watching hockey for 50 years you'd know hits like that happened literally all the time by clean players from the 80's through the early 00's until the NHL started getting soft. That was a clean hit shoulder to shoulder, and maybe Jack should keep his head up. I don't like dirty players, but if you're gonna sit there and say you've been watching hockey for that long and call this a dirty hit then I'm gonna call you a liar and say I'm the pope.

Tkachuk is a remnant of prior 2010 hockey, plays a hard game and an excellent player, like Marchand everyone hates him but secretly theyd buy his jersey if he joined their team.

    • Ian O'Malley
      Ian O'Malley 3 months ago +1

Totally agree but marchand does not level guys like this. Due to his size he's more of a rat whereas tkachuk does the ratty stuff while also laying people out due to his size. To be a gifted player plus size and not use it is common now. I think of a guy like Auston Matthews. If he were to be half as physical as tkachuk it would really help that team go farther.

Not a Tkachuk fan at all, but this is a clean hit. And I think it is what's missing from the game these days. The sh*t show that ensues is the reason it barely exists anymore - clean hits don't need to cause a fight. Take your lumps, keep your head up at all times. Learn from your mistake.

Literally doesn't matter what the refs call unless they suspend him for the series. Tkachuk knows he will get jumped for rocking their most skilled player. Think big picture like tkachuk did there. Eichel is now taking second looks on the ice and other skilled less physical players on the knights are too. As influential as calls can be refs don't make the determination on who wins.

Hockey is the only sport ive ever played that could pretty much defied physics at any given time. I've not only seen but been involved in hits where a MUCH bigger player who has momentum, speed and the angle on what(at the time)is an unsuspecting player end up being the one on the ice suffering the grunt of the hit while the other player skates away pretty much untouched.

That's why I love this game. The randomness and really how beautiful it can look. My theory on this however is a players skating skill. As fans we don't pay much attention to a players skating abilities. I would say with all else being equal the guy who is an all around better skater will tend to win battles which you and I seem surprised by as we're not on the ice and are watching from TV angles.

Clean hit .. Eichel had his head up and just tripped.

  • MindDiet

Goes to show the toughness of Eichel being back in the third, and still making an impact. Tkachuk lines him up and skates from center ice trying to make a statement. Most he skated all game. Can’t be mad at him but the intentions were clear.

@Mr. Brenman21 i mean i don't watch hockey exactly because of that reason, and most people in north america don't watch it either, which is why it's the least popular sport of all of the big 4 leagues.

Almost as good as Subban's hit on Marchand. Perfect timing

    • Paul Belamour
      Paul Belamour 3 months ago

Except Subbans hit was not with the intention to injure Marchand. Tkachuk hit was predatory knowing of Eichel’s serious neck injury past. This hit could have paralyzed Eichel. It’s fine to hit Eichel but high impact hits like this is not worth it considering you could put another human being in a chair for the rest of his life.

Subban's was an all time hit and it was beautiful too. Any kronwallian hit always catches my eye and besides being deadly they look great. I wouldn't put this one in the same arena aesthetically but it was a hell of a message sending hit.

Not a fan of Tkachuk but that was a clean hit. The pads are too damn hard on the outside. They're like armour now. Instant concussions and shoulder damage.

Clean and perfect hit. Nothing nefarious there.

    • hossahunter22
      hossahunter22 3 months ago

The only thing nefarious was Eichel's lack of awareness and no internal clock... "if you fly straight and level for mor than 30 seconds Jerry will have you for lunch" (in hockey it's more like 3 seconds)

      hossahunter22 3 months ago +1

@mikescorpio13 his team is down big and needs a spark. Eichel was a dumbass skating that long near a blue line with the puck with his head down. It's Eichel's fault lol. Go watch 10U if you don't like hits

@Tomoe He was quite bad on the Sabres, mostly due to organisational failures.

    • Clarence Korabek
Clarence Korabek 3 months ago +1

@Tomoe He was cancer in the locker room. All he did was whine. The best thing Buffalo did was get rid of him. They missed the playoffs by 2 points to Florida. When he was in Buffalo, there was no team chemistry, now they are playing like a team that should make the playoffs next season with the talent they now have.
