That’s how you deliver a clean hit. Not launched at his head, no extending arms wherever or even a cross check. Just a clean body blow to an opponent who wasn’t looking.
The only person that launched into that was eichel lmao
Lmao
@idk man what do you mean lmao, he’s entirely correct
First clean hit Tkachuk ever threw
@Joe don't fault the guy he just doesn't know
I am not a Tkachuk fan in any way, but that was a clean hit.
If anything, this should be a reminder to every hockey player of what can happen when you skate through the middle with your head down. BOOM !!!!
Yeah those types of hits are why players get it drilled into them early on to keep your head up.
It's not because his head was down, it's because he toe-picked and lost his footing.
Watch it again in slo-mo.
Reminds me of the old Scott Steven's hits.
Ong I got hit hard asf playing travel doing the same thing one day in Arkansas
If you're not a Katchuk fanboy then why do you care?
A clean hit so hard the refs instinctively thought it was dirty.
Charging, easily
@Thrusterman 🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Wasn’t a penalty
@Thrustermanimagine thinking ramming into someone in open ice whose carrying the puck is charging. You might wanna reread the rules
I've always loved the way tkachuk plays. I wish he were on my team. I wouldn't be surprised if his brother has a cup run in a few years either. Skilled big guys who are willing to grind and use the body are an absolute must to make it far in the playoffs.
I applaud you, one of the few that actually understand the way hockey is suppose to be played! A breath of fresh air.
@Todd Heywood thanks Todd. I think a lot of the idiotic comments are from vgk fans who don't know what they're talking about. They're lucky to have such success this quickly.
@Ian O'Malley lol so true, I’m a Sabres fan, so I know all about that! But in our case, not having success 😂
@Todd Heywood Was chicken $hit Tkachuk playing the way hockey is supposed to be played after game 4?
@Clark807 omg! If you had him on your team you would love the way he plays, do I like it when he plays like Lemieux (Claude). I don’t like play that crosses the line, but I would give just about anything to have a guy who plays with heart, and 100% each shift, that also happens to put up 100 points a season. Also, he isn’t chicken s$&@ because he would drop the gloves with anyone.
Never thought I'd say it as an Oilers fan, but Tkachuk has become one of my favourite players during this playoff run. Guy's a beast.
me too as a Leafs fan. I honestly thought Carolina would sweep them. Boy was I wrong. Even if FLA doesn't win this cup, I still think Tkachuk should win MVP. And I couldn't stand him for the last few years. Good hit man and great playoff series for an individual player. Always will be a fan of him now!
Me too as an Oiler/Habs fan !
I hated him before but when you see him interviewed he’s the most likeable guy. Modest and soft spoken.
Dang, that hit was one of the hardest this year! Sending good vibes to Eichel, hoping he's as okay as one can be after taking such a brutal hit. Stay strong, man! 💪🏒
Oh don’t worry about eichel, one big toot with the nose candy and he’ll be alllllright!
Clean hit by Matthew Tkachuk just trying to get momentum for his team making huge hits!
You couldn’t be more correct
He will get his and I can't wait, he is the only reason I am cheering for the Knights. I hate players like him always have always will. I have watched hockey for over 50 years and dirt is dirt. He takes a predatory run and you call it clean, entent matters and so does history. You can see the shoulder is injured and that was his intent. Some people do not have a moral compass his dad was known to be a cheap shot as well. But he did not turtle everytime he was asked to pay the price for his actions.
@Dennis Schultz You've been watching 50 years, and think that was a dirty hit? That sounds like a lie to me bud. If you've been watching hockey for 50 years you'd know hits like that happened literally all the time by clean players from the 80's through the early 00's until the NHL started getting soft. That was a clean hit shoulder to shoulder, and maybe Jack should keep his head up. I don't like dirty players, but if you're gonna sit there and say you've been watching hockey for that long and call this a dirty hit then I'm gonna call you a liar and say I'm the pope.
@Dennis Schultz Right. I understand if players happen to be there and make a hit but this guy's objective is always to instigate and injure others.
@Dennis Schultz Doesn't the axe swinging Lumber Jack Pietrangelo play for the Knights?
Such a good clean hit in The Stanley Cup Final, and yet everybody still jumps in. If there is ever a time this should be expected it's right now.
Tkachuk is a remnant of prior 2010 hockey, plays a hard game and an excellent player, like Marchand everyone hates him but secretly theyd buy his jersey if he joined their team.
Totally agree but marchand does not level guys like this. Due to his size he's more of a rat whereas tkachuk does the ratty stuff while also laying people out due to his size. To be a gifted player plus size and not use it is common now. I think of a guy like Auston Matthews. If he were to be half as physical as tkachuk it would really help that team go farther.
Don't compare Tkachuk with a rat like marchand.
Clean hit. One of the hardest hits I've seen in awhile.
Too bad for Eichel not seeing Tkachuk. Keep your head up.
Not a Tkachuk fan at all, but this is a clean hit. And I think it is what's missing from the game these days. The sh*t show that ensues is the reason it barely exists anymore - clean hits don't need to cause a fight. Take your lumps, keep your head up at all times. Learn from your mistake.
That's a fair hit. It's tough to avoid a hit when a guy is coming off the bench and shows up out of nowhere.
One of the hardest hits of the year. I hope Eichel is as ok as you can be after getting hit like that.
Hardest hit of the year??? Relax there
Biggest hit of the year? Trouba would send Matt right into retirement.
Man had neck surgery a couple years back, fk hope he good
Eichel lunged forward, probably an AC joint
As a die hard Buffalo fan it was great to see Eichel get hit clean like that, but honestly seeing him get up, my respect for him went up a lot.
Eichel had the puck, no elbows, no extension, no head contact, no liftoff, no knee on knee contact... God damn, this hit might have the highest clean-to-hard hit ratio ever recorded!
more massive hits like this, it does not feel like the playoffs without the physical part
Even Eichel said in the post-game that it’s a physical game and people get hit. It’s just how it is.
100% clean hit.
Eichel was falling forward before being hit, the momentum of him leaning forward was what made the hit look worse from Tkachuk's standpoint. As soon as you put your head down like that you're leaving yourself vulnerable
They should all forget about the puck and watch for the hits
Seem like he kinda lost his balance when he saw Tkachuk 1 feet away from him full speed lol.
Even then the contact is shoulder to shoulder.
Honestly, to me it looked like eichel almost tried to bail out at the last second.
Perfectly executed, clean open ice hit. I’m glad Eichel is alright though. Seeing him get injured again would be really sad.
What a beauty of a hit. So clean. Wish Eichel a fast recovery.
Gonna be so satisfying watching these clowns continue to lose.
He came back in the game and got another point in the blowout victory.
Did he get a penalty?
Eichel's facial expressions lookin like Marv from Home Alone getting a paint can to the face 😂
I say props to Eichel for getting up right after. What a hit
What a clean open ice hit!
so clean he almost beheaded him
He dove into the hit lol keep your head up players
@cui oil progress 4vrlook again there absolutely zero head contact
@cui oil progress 4vr You are soft. Hockey is not for soft people.
@cui oil progress 4vr it’s 100% clean. Stop trying to take contact out of hockey
Absolute beauty of a hit. Clean as can be.
Yeah if you are smoking crack then yes lolll absolutely charging more than 3 strides
@colton gillis Every hit I have seen the panthers do in the entire playoffs has been charging. It's just not a real rule apparently
Taking 4 full strides at someone isnt a clean hit. As a 30 year Blues fan, youtube comments are proof that people are complete idiots. It should be a charging call most definitely.
The charging is nowhere near visible via the replay given by Sportsnet, relax.
Clean hit. Jack should know if your head is up, you eyes should be too.
I was hit like that in football. Kicked off, looked at ball. Smash to left sdr. 48 years later sdr still hurts today. It never healed
Great open ice hit, well done, shoulder to shoulder and he had puck
This really takes some of the luster off of Florida’s amazing underdog run. As much as I want them to win, I think a one-game suspension would be fair.
good solid hit...playoff hockey,love it
Considering Jack and his history with his neck I was pretty happy to see him get up. I'm sure his surgeon feels pretty good about how the disc held up.
That was as clean as you could get. Eichel fell forward right as the hit took place.
In slow motion, he saw Tkachuk coming at the last second and only had time to turn his head. Looked like a shoulder injury. That could of been much worse had he not turned his head though imo.
He fell right before the hit not sure why. That's the definition of a defenseless player. Not tkachuks fault in that case just a strange play.
he seem to toe pick himself . Clean hit . Glad hes hockey could have been REALLY bad.
He took too many strides so clearly tried to make it more dangerous than just gliding into a clean hit
I think he saw him last millisecond and just tried to avoid it the best he could, not loosing his balance
Dude, never one to jump to Chucky's defense, but that was 100% a clean hit. Even with Eichel falling it was all shoulder on shoulder. I could see Eichel getting a bit of whiplash, but no way is that an unclean hit.
Agreed It just caught Eichel by surprise
I’m the same, I don’t particularly like either of those players but that as a clean check and once again an NHL official on a power trip decided to impose his own rules.
Yeah I can’t stand the guy, but you’re absolutely right
The contact was clean but charging should have been called. The refs blew it on that one.
How did the knights not get penalized here for jumping Tkachuk after a clean hit? The NHL bias is showing HARD these past few games, Gary doing whatever it takes to get the Knights a cup...brutal.
Cry more. Zebras get it wrong both ways. It happens.
Literally doesn't matter what the refs call unless they suspend him for the series. Tkachuk knows he will get jumped for rocking their most skilled player. Think big picture like tkachuk did there. Eichel is now taking second looks on the ice and other skilled less physical players on the knights are too. As influential as calls can be refs don't make the determination on who wins.
@Ryan Maxwelll yeah yeah 🥴 “cRy mOrE” you goofs are everywhere
VGK fan here to say it was a good clean hit 🐀 and I’m glad to see Eichel back in the 3rd.
Love that. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap
Good hit. Eichel fine. Has an assist a few mins later
VGK fan too and yes I agreed it was, I'm glad Jackie is fine!
Eichel was searching for his head on the ice after the hit. He got blasted 💥
oh cool, we were just waiting for your assessment of the situation
Cleanest hit I've seen him throw
Pick your head up kid
I broke my collar bone from a hit like that. Eichel must be in serious pain.
Thinking same thing, especially by how he left the ice… been there too. I had dislocated shoulder though lol
Guessing it was mild separation and he got some pain meds or shot considering he was back.
Maybe he learns to keep his head up in the future
That hit was so hard that everyone needed a good hug afterwards.
This is just part of what makes playoff hockey the greatest sport on earth...
That hit was so big all the players had to hug it out after because of the trauma 😂
Incredibly hard...yet clean open ice hit
And I saw an interview with Eichel after the game... even he said it was a clean hit. 👍
Really good hit, lucky Eichel saw him just at the last second so he could turn his head a brace himself abit.
Up 4-0 with 2 minutes to go, what in the world was Eichel thinking?
It felt like going to work Monday morning during the game. Then it suddenly felt like 5pm on a Friday heading into a long weekend after seeing the hit.
Hockey is the only sport ive ever played that could pretty much defied physics at any given time. I've not only seen but been involved in hits where a MUCH bigger player who has momentum, speed and the angle on what(at the time)is an unsuspecting player end up being the one on the ice suffering the grunt of the hit while the other player skates away pretty much untouched.
m1v1 = m2v2
That's why I love this game. The randomness and really how beautiful it can look. My theory on this however is a players skating skill. As fans we don't pay much attention to a players skating abilities. I would say with all else being equal the guy who is an all around better skater will tend to win battles which you and I seem surprised by as we're not on the ice and are watching from TV angles.
Clean hit. No questions asked
Chuck is the king of all hockey right now. Period..no matter who your team is. Doin it all. Go chucky. Love from Buffalo 😊
Best Hit of 2023 Playoffs!! Clean as it comes!
Clean hit! "Don't skate through the neutral zone with your head down"-Eric Lindros
It wasn't that he tripped. Try and pay attention
@D B he didn’t trip, he knew his world was about to get rocked so he tried avoiding the hit last second.
Can't wait the arms race of physicality after these playoffs. Time to get back to good ol' hockey.
What in the hell was tkachuk ejected for? That was clean as hell.
beautiful clean hit. Keep your head up kids!
Great hit, nothing wrong with ole time hockey like that!
As much as I might hate Tkachuk, that's a legal hit. More importantly, good to see Eichel skate off right away and later come back. Obviously hurting in the immediate aftermath, but not dazed or anything. Just good, thick-body hockey that leaves no one injured.
Tkachuk is by no means a clean player, but that was a clean hit.
Didn’t barbashev get a misconduct?
@Nic E that should have been the only call for retaliation.
@anonymous well Tka got a 10 because After he got removed from the pile he JUMPED pietrangelo and hit him in the face ... That why he got a 10.
Scott Stevens would be proud of that hit. He made hits like this into an art form...
The contact was clean, but charging should have been called. It was blatantly obvious.
Absolutely clean, and he saw it coming. But I’m sure it hurt!
Great hit by Tkachuk!!!!
Great hit. Luckily Eichel is ok and his team got the win. What a hit though, beauty.
Обалденный хит! 🔥
More clean than other hits these playoffs.
Eichel comes back and sets up a beauty. Eichel doing what it takes to win.
Tkachuk’s been wildin lately. This is great
Deadly hit 👌🏾
I’m not a violent person, but it makes me feel good to see Eichel get his bell rung, especially by Chucky 💪🏼
Keep your head up Eichel. Tkachuk absolutely trucked him.
Eichel nervously fell right into it too haha damn good hit
Biggest open ice hit I've seen in a while. Clean.
Clean hit .. Eichel had his head up and just tripped.
Goes to show the toughness of Eichel being back in the third, and still making an impact. Tkachuk lines him up and skates from center ice trying to make a statement. Most he skated all game. Can’t be mad at him but the intentions were clear.
Knights in 4
👏👏👏👏👏😤💯 HUGE HIT. WHY WAS HE THROWN OUT??
Hard hit, but clean, keep your head on a swivel Jack.
Clean as a clean hit can be, and I hate both teams but man I'd love Tkachuk on my team for sure.
Huge hit, completely clean
Did he get a penalty?
Thats a clean hit. Keep your head up and you wont get hit like that.
Florida needed this wake-up call. Bring on game 3!!
Definitely a clean hit. Eichel was fair game.
Jack got spooked out at the last second, that’s why his leg bend backwards…..didn’t lose his balance.. least he came back to the game.
He toe picked right before he got nailed
I love those hits. We need more of them.
On you next
nah we dont need more of them. thats how brain damage happens. the way it is now is good, every once in awhile theres a good one and it has the shock factor
On you next . Come to riverside park and get it.
@Mr. Brenman21 i mean i don't watch hockey exactly because of that reason, and most people in north america don't watch it either, which is why it's the least popular sport of all of the big 4 leagues.
That half second where he braced himself before the impact may be the reason he doesn’t have a career ending injury.
Head on a swivel. Clean hit. Vegas should have had some calls against them.
Tkachuk is a Warrior !!!
That's a beauty shot right there, all the proper physicality of hockey. Eichel should know better.
Almost as good as Subban's hit on Marchand. Perfect timing
Except Subbans hit was not with the intention to injure Marchand. Tkachuk hit was predatory knowing of Eichel’s serious neck injury past. This hit could have paralyzed Eichel. It’s fine to hit Eichel but high impact hits like this is not worth it considering you could put another human being in a chair for the rest of his life.
@Paul Belamour Then retire from* the sport. nothing wrong here, carry on.
@Paul Belamouris this you're first year watching hockey? 😂
Subban's was an all time hit and it was beautiful too. Any kronwallian hit always catches my eye and besides being deadly they look great. I wouldn't put this one in the same arena aesthetically but it was a hell of a message sending hit.
@Paul Belamour Eichel plays hard too. He knows the risks. A clean hit on open ice is a thing of beauty.
What a hit. That's as clean as they come
Wait a second, what did he get a penalty for?
Now that’s a nice clean hit shoulder to shoulder
One of his few clean plays of the game. By the end of this series he is going to seriously injure someone with his otherwise dirty play.
He's probably gonna do just that in game 3 let's get the ejection hattrick
Good clean hit, few hits already these playoffs where someone comes in with a full head of steam into a play where someone isn’t expecting a hit that fast. Game is getting so fast!
Not a fan of Tkachuk but that was a clean hit. The pads are too damn hard on the outside. They're like armour now. Instant concussions and shoulder damage.
Clean and perfect hit. Nothing nefarious there.
The only thing nefarious was Eichel's lack of awareness and no internal clock... "if you fly straight and level for mor than 30 seconds Jerry will have you for lunch" (in hockey it's more like 3 seconds)
useless hit with intent of injuring in a 120% certain loss......idiots like hits like that and idiots delivers hits like that.
@mikescorpio13 It's a big hit to get your team going... No loss is guaranteed and 0-4 with a whole period left has tons of time for a comeback
@mikescorpio13 his team is down big and needs a spark. Eichel was a dumbass skating that long near a blue line with the puck with his head down. It's Eichel's fault lol. Go watch 10U if you don't like hits
Мэтью красавчик не сдаётся хоть и по счету проигрывает лучший игрок всего сезона
Oof - that is the absolute worst time to toe pick, good thing he didn’t slam into that head first 😅
CLEAN HIT ! BOYS BEING BOYS
Nice clean hit. Assumed it would be dirty at first considering the score.
Guy got ROCKED. Best part is, was an absolute CLEAN hit.
Not sure I agree with you that Tkachuck's 4 full accelerating strides going into the hit (seen at 1:18) is considered "CLEAN", but agreed he got rocked.
Clean hit. That was enjoyable to watch for many Buffalo fans
why does buffalo fans not like Eichel
@Tomoe He was quite bad on the Sabres, mostly due to organisational failures.
@Tomoe He was cancer in the locker room. All he did was whine. The best thing Buffalo did was get rid of him. They missed the playoffs by 2 points to Florida. When he was in Buffalo, there was no team chemistry, now they are playing like a team that should make the playoffs next season with the talent they now have.
Many Buffalo fans are rooting for Eichel.
@Clarence Korabek At least he somewhat succeededd elsewhere.
Just heard of this hit. Looks clean as can be. Was there a penalty called? It appears the ref was giving him a game misconduct.
Eichel just looked in a weird position. Happy he is OK especially with the disk surgery
clean hit. didnt leave his feet just put a great shot on him, the other guy is the one who lowered his shoulder in that manner causing the injury
Freak stumble, a hockey hit, Eichel is tough and hungry. That's old style hockey.
We need a few more comments saying this was a clean hit
