He was more scared of the build up and atmosphere than the actual monster. It was funny watching him play because he was like tense as hell then the fetus showed up and all of a sudden he was totally fine lol.
“Resident Evil doesn’t have the best plots” yeah but like Resident Evil 5 is the tale of Chris Redfield wanting to punch everything so it’s basically a masterpiece
@zeb Re4 is about Leon saving the president's daughter from spanish illuminatis whoose leaders are generic hooded dude and a 10 year old dressed as Napoleon. And it has spiky aliens and Matrix laser scenes. In other words, you totally should play it
I think he was more of a fit in RE7 where it was more of a focused horror experience, having a scared "what the hell is going on?!" guy served the atmosphere for that game. Now that they went back to more of an action-horror experience, having a "what the hell is going on?!" guy doesn't fit as well.
1. He gets cut on barbed wire 2. He gets bit and loses a major part of his left hand including two fingers 3. He gets stabbed through and strung up by the hands 4. He has to rip his hands through the the hooks to escape 5. A bug pops out his hand when Cassandra(?) forces him down to the basement 6. Dimitrescu slices his right hand off 7. He can get stabbed in the hands of you take too long to find Angie but it’s probably not canon 8. He can get acid on his hand if you’re hit from Moreau’s acid attack. I think there’s even an animation that focuses on it but like the Angie fight it’s probably not canon 9. He starts to calcify of course starting from the hands as they crumble Probably some other instances I’m missing but but didn’t get to see. So definitely at least 7 that are canon in RE8 alone
I love the parts where he eggs the villains on to try and hurt him, especially when Heisenberg tries to threaten him with throwing him down into some dungeon. Ethan is just like "Okay, go ahead" and let's go, I wanted more of that cocky-ness
Also when the hugely intimidating super vampire lady announces she’s going to hunt him and he’s like “eh do ur worst” lol that’s just badass. Ethan became one of the greats, probably not Leon, Chris, and Jill level but he’s up there.
Yeah. It was taking me out of the game while i was playing it but after that "if you know you know". It made my jaw drop. Now when i replay this with that in mind. i think it wouldn't take me out as much as it did in the first one.
@Solidus golidus Vague Spoilers - The scene your are referencing is weird because what the game treated as a reveal, was what I had already assumed as head canon in RE7 and the first fight with Tall Vampire Lady basically reconfirmed it long before the game told you out right
deadass i started resident evil 4 this weekend and literally the first large combat section i encountered i spent murmuring “tallahassee shuffle, tallahassee shuffle” to myself while a small mob of villagers chased me in circles around a house
The Tallahasssee Shuffle complaint is actually so heartbreaking cause Lady D actually does shove other enemies aside if they get in her way so why couldn't that be the case with the player and inanimate objects too? In fact it would've been hilarious if she pulled a Jack and blamed you for the death of her daughter AND for forcing her to break her furniture to get to you.
Ethan has got to be one the most polarising protagonists in the series. It seems that people either dislike him or love him, with very little in-between
he's basically another leon, a fresh faced nobody with no real notable skills whosurvives a hellish nightmare, and comes out stronger and more confident in his skills
I love him because he says the dumbest stuff and I like a brief laugh in a horror game. The way he delivered 'why does everybody keep dying on me?' Was terrible and I loved it.
I mean he gave a 6/10 to RE3 remake, but he was clearly disappointed with it, while here he actually enjoyed a lot this RE8 and yet he just gave a 7/10, I’m a little bit confused
It kinda makes sense. His hands are basically the only parts of his body that you see, so hurting them is the only way to show how the enviroment is fucking him up
[SPOILERS FOR THE GAME] If you ask me the most satisfying part of the game was playing as Chris. You begin the game with a tiny ass handgun that takes like 7 bullets to kill an enemy, but you end up by playing as a trained soldier mowing down enemies with his rifle.
For me that is ironically the worst part and I hated it. The only good aspect to it was reading the papers near the end because at least it provided insight on the characters.
@Coletrain Hetrick I just think that it’s a good contrast from the beginning of the game. It’s definitely not the best part, but it’s just the most satisfying to me
@Coletrain Hetrick It was weird how early in the game, and in the advertising, they call so much attention to the Umbrella symbol being related to the village somehow ... but then the actual explanation that Mother Miranda was the inspiration for Ozwell E Spencer is tucked away in a document and you don't get to see Chris really take in in a significant way how full circle this mission has taken him
Describing the enemies as "just a little too stupid" is a good summary. I assumed Lady D was going to be reminiscent of Mr. X, but you really illustrated why I didn't find her that intimidating. She had about a dozen opportunities to lock up Ethan, but he just keeps getting away because of her incompetency.
The best parts were the ones in the boss fight. Dragon Lady D:"I'm gonna devour your flesh, I'm gonna destroy you, dieeee!11!!" -grasps Ethan, and instead of actually trying to devour him, she throws him on the conveniently placed rooftop, then proceeds to fly around cackling for no reason
I also think a big reason why Mr X was so threatening is because he didn’t talk and all you could hear were footsteps. In this game the bosses don’t really scare you because you constantly hear them talking before they appear and when they do show up you either B line it to the outside courtyard or to the Duke’s room. It kinda sucks because I never actually got killed let alone threatened by Lady D and the bug ladies
Yeah, they went for the RE4 style boss personalities, where they bantered back and were more intelligent than the monsters of the past, which leads to arguably the games contention point for some: It wants to be both RE7 and RE4 at the same time, and it ultimately works for the most part but there are points where it doesn’t.
@Charleston O'Bryant the re4 bosses weren’t really like that though? Maybe Krauser, but I don’t remember Mendez or even Salazar being that talkative during their boss fights.
To the Mr. X part, you can literally run right up to him at that animation and run past him before he can do a damn thing. The Racoon City Rumba if you will.
You can watch every quickie Marcus does on a game with the sound off, just look at how much he's leaning forward in his chair in the bottom left to tell if the game is good or not
This is just personal preference but Ethan is my favourite protagonist purely because of how relatable he is. Sure some dialogue’s stale but he reacts in ways I would, terrified but sometimes fed up of it all
The way he doesn't so really sling one-liners so much as call the boss an asshole and tell it to fuck off is SUPER relatable. Many times in the game I would say something, and then Ethan would, which is always fun. Plus Ethan is a total wife-guy, which I find hilarious and a kind of nice departure from the other RE protags.
I agree with this more for the Ethan of RE7, where he was basically just a dude trying to get out of a crazy house. In this game he takes more of a action hero personality by virtue of his actions, and I feel that it doesn’t work as well for him.
@Extreme Toast I wouldn't call it an action hero, I mean he seems like hes just tired of everyone's shit, he even pointed out how hes in a similar situation as the bakers house I find him relatable because of that
As a writer, I love coming to this channel for inspiration! The genuine and authentic nature of your reviews helps me so much with improving the quality of my storytelling and analysis of troupes. Like most amateur writers, I still have a long way to go, but the Cosmonaut channel has helped me so much in being a better artist. Thanks Marcus! Can't wait for the next one. Also, I'm obsessed with reviews of this game. Lol.
Can I just say, god damn you are good at articulating exactly what I was feeling about something without knowing how to say it. This was a good one. It felt almost too easy to manipulate the AI in this game to the point where it breaks immersion constantly.
You have such great insight when it comes to pretty much everything. I'd love to see more game reviews, if that's something you're interested in. Or even just gameplay.
From what little I have seen of this game, Ethan is such an absolute omega-brainlet I can't even. Dude could count his braincells on one hand if he could actually count that high.
1:09 that was my exact reaction to that line, I was sharing my screen with a friend and both of us had been quiet for awhile, then Ethan says that and we both start laughing so hard that I had to pause for a minute or so, and when that line is immediately followed with “wait there’s more” we just got totally pulled out of the experience
I actually loved the factory because it was the first time since like, the opening where my ammo stockpile was getting precarious. As a result, every encounter was a tense game of resource management demanding near-perfect accuracy to hit those soldat weakpoints. Plus I liked climbing the factory and calling Duke up to every new level via the cargo elevator, really cool having your savepoint and merchant be a mobile base that you can bring through the level with you.
I had the same reaction to the game, in the beginning I felt like it was more of a walking horror sim (except for the great Resi 4 throwback in the village) and cutscenes, but once the game gets going it feels like a video game
The factory area was my least favorite in my first run, now after like 8+ runs. I love the factory. The ambient sound design sounds straight out of RE4, the enemies are easily more menacing than the Lycan’s. It also feels like a from software area, as the game throws enemies at you in surprising ways.
So I was just on Netflix and I saw a clip of Jesse Eisenberg during the Tallahassee Shuffle to some zombies to get inside a car he thought was locked. I died of laughter. *I love you Cosmie!*
Watching someone's stream of their first playthrough was my first introduction to the games and I quite enjoyed it. I look forward to playing it and earlier installments
The Tallahassee Shuffle is sadly so common in games (especially AAA games) because the chase segments usually *require* you to play that way. Now i want to think of name for the dance move where you take turns sharply to get enemy AI stuck on a corner 🤔
Honestly I loved the story in this game, im all up for plot twists and craziness, I know not all of the old school resi fans are but remember RE has always been crazy 🤣
I bet the special enemies (vampire women ect) have lacking AI due to there being a lot of them. Mr X and Nemesis were the only pursuer enemies in their respective games so probably had more time put into their pathing. Wonder if it’ll get patched.
I get what your saying about the Tallahassee shuffle. Still, I enjoy a good chase so it didn’t bother me too much. Also, the claws dimitrescu has do massive damage so that might’ve been a factor for me.
I'm playing Village as my first RE game, actually. I'm playing on standard, and I like that it feels like I have just enough ammo that I can make it out if I plan enough, but can still run out if I find myself getting reckless.
Gotta say this video was a welcome surprise. Love this game so far. Also Marcus if you're a Demon Slayer fan I'd love to hear your opinion on the film. Just saw it and I loved (almost) every moment.
I think the 1st hour is cut scene heavy. But I found trying to survive the first horde of Lycans to be thrilling...but maybe playing on Hard Core did that for me
One of your complains disapears if you play in a different language (as i played in ptbr). Ethan does not talk like that or even says 'why's everyone dying ON ME?'. They've changed the dialog so it fits way better. Same happens with the amount of 'what the hell'
You can actually hide in the cabinets during the weird freaky baby fetus sections, there big enough for you to stand in and the creature sniffs you out and leaves, very similar to outlast
It’s really easy to tell your affinity for the RE franchise in this video, even though I haven’t actually played any of the games myself you can always tell when someone is a fan of a franchise just by the way they go about discussing things about it
I think while the "Tallahassee Shuffle" is /effective/ it didn't ever feel like I was encouraged to play in that way. Even for boss fights, the quicker, and often easier strategy was weaving, dodging and blocking their blows, and it created a far more engaging combat loop than what you described. I don't think I used that Tallahassee Shuffle once in my original playthrough
A remedy to the Tallahassee Shuffle; RE7's Father. The father would see you across a table, and proceed to break the table to chase you. You in the hallway? He breaks the wall down. I know those kinds of things are baked in and not super dynamic, but it escalated the fight/escape situation. I think boss fights that would slowly but surely remove your safety would help increase the tension. Kinda like the Heisenberg fight when he destroys the debris you hide behind. Being sorta vague here for anyone who hasn't seen the fight.
I think RE7 had a better setting for it too, a house with very tight hallways and rooms. I was really disappointed with Lady Tall Vampire, as every time she showed up in game she felt more like a mindless computer program than an actual threat.
I actually loved the end, aka the factory levels. I fucking stockpiled my first run man, over 60 shotgun shells without crafting any at that point. It felt so good to actually unload some of that
Oops it looks like we forgot to include footage at 5:13. Sorry!
Your forgiven!
@Cody Barlik I agree, you've been cancelled
That’s it #nomorevarietyhourimdone
@Br 1 can’t believe he made us trust him aswell
2010: Why the hell are girls simping over a fictitious vampire?
2021: 😳
It looks like the tables have turned!
@KingRyan 1995 I’m taking the second option in a heartbeat
OH!
i really need to apologize to all the twilight simps...
Marcus: "This section of the game actually had me scared"
Also Marcus calmly being chased by a giant evil fetus: "See ya later kiddo."
hes not very good at editing
He was more scared of the build up and atmosphere than the actual monster. It was funny watching him play because he was like tense as hell then the fetus showed up and all of a sudden he was totally fine lol.
I never knew Dababy was from Alabama.
@Super Sceptile ik but hes still not very good at editing
I was playing the game at midnight so the fetus part scared me so much that I turned the game off. So weird seeing him so relaxed lmao.
“Resident Evil doesn’t have the best plots” yeah but like Resident Evil 5 is the tale of Chris Redfield wanting to punch everything so it’s basically a masterpiece
Pünch röck!
I'm not really familliar with the RE franchise but.... Doesn't Leon save the president's daughter in RE4?
These plots are awesome lol
@zeb Re4 is about Leon saving the president's daughter from spanish illuminatis whoose leaders are generic hooded dude and a 10 year old dressed as Napoleon. And it has spiky aliens and Matrix laser scenes. In other words, you totally should play it
@zeb Preach! The campy ass plots are a huge part of what makes Resident Evil great
Look at this guy, his pfp is lightish red
The Duke referencing the RE4 merchant and Heisenberg calling Chris "that boulder punching asshole" honestly made the game for me
Absolutely loved that part lmao
Ethan is more of a Silent Hill protagonist than a Resident Evil protagonist to me
True.
I think he was more of a fit in RE7 where it was more of a focused horror experience, having a scared "what the hell is going on?!" guy served the atmosphere for that game. Now that they went back to more of an action-horror experience, having a "what the hell is going on?!" guy doesn't fit as well.
Holy shit you said it perfectly
Surprised they didn't just make him James Sunderland, he's close enough with his outfit.
@Scott Roxford they have a model of his face and he looks like a young james!
We need a montage for how many times ethans hand gets hurt
B
it will be half the game's length
Every injury with Mr. blue sky playing
His left hand though
1. He gets cut on barbed wire
2. He gets bit and loses a major part of his left hand including two fingers
3. He gets stabbed through and strung up by the hands
4. He has to rip his hands through the the hooks to escape
5. A bug pops out his hand when Cassandra(?) forces him down to the basement
6. Dimitrescu slices his right hand off
7. He can get stabbed in the hands of you take too long to find Angie but it’s probably not canon
8. He can get acid on his hand if you’re hit from Moreau’s acid attack. I think there’s even an animation that focuses on it but like the Angie fight it’s probably not canon
9. He starts to calcify of course starting from the hands as they crumble
Probably some other instances I’m missing but but didn’t get to see. So definitely at least 7 that are canon in RE8 alone

Also when the hugely intimidating super vampire lady announces she’s going to hunt him and he’s like “eh do ur worst” lol that’s just badass. Ethan became one of the greats, probably not Leon, Chris, and Jill level but he’s up there.
I loved that moment, “ill take my chances” god so good
@LOPES HICK that line was delivered so badly tho
@LUIGIII 11/10 lines in the RE franchise are poorly delivered lol, its kinda iconic at this point.
@LOPES HICK nah dont talk about the homie Leon like that (even tho i know its kinda true)
The number of grievous injuries that Ethan just shakes off in this game is hilarious
Yeah. It was taking me out of the game while i was playing it but after that "if you know you know". It made my jaw drop. Now when i replay this with that in mind. i think it wouldn't take me out as much as it did in the first one.
@Solidus golidus Vague Spoilers - The scene your are referencing is weird because what the game treated as a reveal, was what I had already assumed as head canon in RE7 and the first fight with Tall Vampire Lady basically reconfirmed it long before the game told you out right
I wonder if that means something in the story *cough*
After that ending, he is oficialy the Deadpool of the RE universe
AH SHIT, MY HAND FELL OFF. Good thing I always carry a bottle of glue, otherwise I'd be fucked
I hope you understand that “The Tallahassee Shuffle” is going to become a permanent part of my vocabulary when playing games from now on.
Me when saying the Fast and Furious is anime
@flame shiki I thought this was a widely accepted fact
Some one even added it to urban dictionary the day this video came out
deadass i started resident evil 4 this weekend and literally the first large combat section i encountered i spent murmuring “tallahassee shuffle, tallahassee shuffle” to myself while a small mob of villagers chased me in circles around a house
Same here 😭
The Tallahasssee Shuffle complaint is actually so heartbreaking cause Lady D actually does shove other enemies aside if they get in her way so why couldn't that be the case with the player and inanimate objects too? In fact it would've been hilarious if she pulled a Jack and blamed you for the death of her daughter AND for forcing her to break her furniture to get to you.
Ethan has got to be one the most polarising protagonists in the series. It seems that people either dislike him or love him, with very little in-between
Eh I'm meh about him. They don't give him enough of a personality but what we got is fine as well
Thats what im saying, his story nearly brought me to tears but there also other people that don't seem to care lol
@Joshua Fleming same
he's basically another leon, a fresh faced nobody with no real notable skills whosurvives a hellish nightmare, and comes out stronger and more confident in his skills
I love him because he says the dumbest stuff and I like a brief laugh in a horror game. The way he delivered 'why does everybody keep dying on me?' Was terrible and I loved it.
At this point I can’t tell if it’s actually a 7/10 or if he’s just relapsing back to his old comfort score 😂
I mean he gave a 6/10 to RE3 remake, but he was clearly disappointed with it, while here he actually enjoyed a lot this RE8 and yet he just gave a 7/10, I’m a little bit confused
@John SALTFRESH why do you have to take it do seriously lol?
@Kinxyo I was making an observation that’s all, don’t think there is any problem
Number scores are silly so I don’t really pay attention to them as much as the actual content of the video.
@Waffle McMulligan is fun to play around with the number scores tho
Marcus missed one portion : Ethan's hand always getting f*cked up over and over again. Capcom really hates Ethan's hands first in RE7 and now in RE8
They’re hard to animate lol
Haha I know! I was thinking that, it's almost fetishistic at this point. Good thing there's plenty of magic juice lying around to fix them
@Arthur Durham the juice aint magic ethan is still infected with the mutamycete from 7 so he has a healing factor
@R. Graves Nah son, magic juice
It kinda makes sense. His hands are basically the only parts of his body that you see, so hurting them is the only way to show how the enviroment is fucking him up
[SPOILERS FOR THE GAME]
If you ask me the most satisfying part of the game was playing as Chris. You begin the game with a tiny ass handgun that takes like 7 bullets to kill an enemy, but you end up by playing as a trained soldier mowing down enemies with his rifle.
Yeah. It felt so great just obliterating enemies when just before that just a handful of lycans would have been terrifying
For me that is ironically the worst part and I hated it. The only good aspect to it was reading the papers near the end because at least it provided insight on the characters.
@Coletrain Hetrick I just think that it’s a good contrast from the beginning of the game. It’s definitely not the best part, but it’s just the most satisfying to me
@Coletrain Hetrick It was weird how early in the game, and in the advertising, they call so much attention to the Umbrella symbol being related to the village somehow ... but then the actual explanation that Mother Miranda was the inspiration for Ozwell E Spencer is tucked away in a document and you don't get to see Chris really take in in a significant way how full circle this mission has taken him
Yea. That was some badass shit
Dragon Lady D:"I'm gonna devour your flesh, I'm gonna destroy you, dieeee!11!!"
-grasps Ethan, and instead of actually trying to devour him, she throws him on the conveniently placed rooftop, then proceeds to fly around cackling for no reason
Seeing Marcus actually enjoy something is a nice change of pace.
“Still better than Aquaman”
Bring back the Snyderverse
*slow clap*
Hahaha foni
Resident Evil 9 60's Aquaman is a must
I thought Vinny Chase was a great aquaman
I always feel like Marcus doesn't like fps shooters but he seems really comfortable and really good at them.
I too, indulge in the first person shooter shooter genre
FPS games were designed with Mouse and Keyboard in mind, what may look like good gameplay is just a result of the control scheme doing it's job.
I don't like First Person FPS either
@Scott Roxford fact of life
I got the exact opposite opinion watching this video.
This game slaps harder than my drunk dad.
This game slaps harder than I do to my gf cheeks
You should write that down incase of plagiarism
Fuck dude. Oh God that was hilarious.
:(
The "hell" montage killed me. RE8 might have the best story in the franchise, imo. The reveal in the latter half of the game was awesome.
Which one
@Zach Morgan Probably the mold one
really? I liked 7's story a lot better, I thought the 8 twist was kinda weak
marcus are you okay? you’ve been uploading a lot recently.
@a kid in a white van elevation of topic in that comment and your comment is dangerously high
He’s not allowed to leave and all he is allowed to do is make videos
You complaining?
@Flame keep up the work💀
I also think a big reason why Mr X was so threatening is because he didn’t talk and all you could hear were footsteps. In this game the bosses don’t really scare you because you constantly hear them talking before they appear and when they do show up you either B line it to the outside courtyard or to the Duke’s room. It kinda sucks because I never actually got killed let alone threatened by Lady D and the bug ladies

@Charleston O'Bryant the re4 bosses weren’t really like that though? Maybe Krauser, but I don’t remember Mendez or even Salazar being that talkative during their boss fights.
you clearly haven't played re7.
If you ever encounter a person you really don’t like, do the Tallahassee shuffle, it will always work to avoid that person
Nobody:
Marcus: “you know what this calls for. The good ol Tallahassee shuffle”
Girlfriend: "We need to talk."
Me: *Tallahassee shuffles away*
If only I could Tallahassee Shuffle all the taxes sent to me away. That'd make life easier.
I thought he reference Tallahassee from Zombieland at the first time he mentioned Tallahassee
As a Tallahassee native I can confirm the accuracy of this move.
wdym nobody:?
Right after he realizes that he gives everything a 7/10 he goes right back to giving the game a 7/10
To the Mr. X part, you can literally run right up to him at that animation and run past him before he can do a damn thing. The Racoon City Rumba if you will.
Ngl just realized the cosmonaut quickie voice bit at the beginning is actually just Marcus’ voice
who mark?
@liam Nope didn’t notice the auto correct lmao thank you
Oh my God it is
Wait what?
Yeah if you go to his Castlevania video you can hear him yell it for the first time lol
You can watch every quickie Marcus does on a game with the sound off, just look at how much he's leaning forward in his chair in the bottom left to tell if the game is good or not
Looked like he was bored lol
This is just personal preference but Ethan is my favourite protagonist purely because of how relatable he is. Sure some dialogue’s stale but he reacts in ways I would, terrified but sometimes fed up of it all
The way he doesn't so really sling one-liners so much as call the boss an asshole and tell it to fuck off is SUPER relatable. I agree with this more for the Ethan of RE7, where he was basically just a dude trying to get out of a crazy house. In this game he takes more of a action hero personality by virtue of his actions, and I feel that it doesn’t work as well for him.
@Extreme Toast I wouldn't call it an action hero, I mean he seems like hes just tired of everyone's shit, he even pointed out how hes in a similar situation as the bakers house I find him relatable because of that
So if your wife get shot to death you'd say "what the hell" or be suprised by a dead body? Lol
@boogeyman bud the pbc slayer yeah considering Ethan doesnt see dead bodies all the time and I would want some answers on why some guys shot my wife
This game just looks amazing, all the varying architecture and atmosphere is so great.
These streams were so much fun. I understand they probably take much longer to do than movies and stuff but I look forward to future game reviews :)
Marcus's whole reaction to that part at 11:28 was exactly mine when I played it
You have such great insight when it comes to pretty much everything. I'd love to see more game reviews, if that's something you're interested in. Or even just gameplay.
This is becoming a Cosmonaut quickie channel
This game is a 10/10, just because of the combination puzzle jumpscare (02:28) and the entire puppet house section.
If only I could have experienced those moments in VR.
Now I kinda want to see a video of you talking about all the resident evil games you played and how you would rank them
glad i'm not the only one that laughed pretty hard at 'why is everyone dying on me?'
I don't even like Resident Evil, but I'll still watch Marcus talk about it.
Same I love Marcus's content
I loved this game so much. Favorite game so far this year.

Marcus: I usually enjoy RE dialogue
Also Marcus: only shows clips of him laughing at the dialogue
I had the same reaction to the game, in the beginning I felt like it was more of a walking horror sim (except for the great Resi 4 throwback in the village) and cutscenes, but once the game gets going it feels like a video game
i will never not hate the concept of unkillable stalker enemies.
The Ubermorph in the first Dead Space is my favorite from that archetype.
Therapist: Vampire lady isn’t real, she can’t hurt you.
Simps: That’s the problem!
The factory area was my least favorite in my first run, now after like 8+ runs. I love the factory. The ambient sound design sounds straight out of RE4, the enemies are easily more menacing than the Lycan’s. It also feels like a from software area, as the game throws enemies at you in surprising ways.

Watching someone's stream of their first playthrough was my first introduction to the games and I quite enjoyed it. I look forward to playing it and earlier installments
I loved it. Freshest RE in a while.
Not sure if an 11 minute long video counts as a quickie but I still love it!
I really like Ethan, he did seem like a normal dude. I just figured he's used to this kinda stuff since he was in the last game.
The dollhouse section is probably one of the best levels in the game
The Tallahassee Shuffle is sadly so common in games (especially AAA games) because the chase segments usually *require* you to play that way. Now i want to think of name for the dance move where you take turns sharply to get enemy AI stuck on a corner 🤔
Honestly I loved the story in this game, im all up for plot twists and craziness, I know not all of the old school resi fans are but remember RE has always been crazy 🤣
Not the best plots? Uhmmmm Chris finding a way to continue his bloodline is a masterpiece
The game is really good and I appreciate that is like a combination of RE4 and RE7, but it could probably use more RE4
You Have been extremely consistent with your uploading and I love it !!!
so many cosmonaut videos lately!! really love it man keep it up
You are one of my favorite content creators ever and I love all your videos thanks for all your work I hope you keep at it
Hearing “Cosmonaut Quickie” again fill me with so much joy
cant wait to get into this series
Marcus: when you enter the castle the game really begins
Also Marcus: the castle section is the one I have much issues overall in the game
I bet the special enemies (vampire women ect) have lacking AI due to there being a lot of them.
Mr X and Nemesis were the only pursuer enemies in their respective games so probably had more time put into their pathing.
Wonder if it’ll get patched.
I think the problem is the lack of moves that the vampires can do to you as well as no destructible terrains and items.
I get what your saying about the Tallahassee shuffle. Still, I enjoy a good chase so it didn’t bother me too much. Also, the claws dimitrescu has do massive damage so that might’ve been a factor for me.
Thank you for this video. Not many people talk about how incredibly inane the enemies in the first section are.
At least it was good to see Marcus having fun playing Resident Evil Village
I'm playing Village as my first RE game, actually. I'm playing on standard, and I like that it feels like I have just enough ammo that I can make it out if I plan enough, but can still run out if I find myself getting reckless.
Gotta say this video was a welcome surprise. Love this game so far. Also Marcus if you're a Demon Slayer fan I'd love to hear your opinion on the film. Just saw it and I loved (almost) every moment.
“See you later kiddo.” Gets me everytime 😂
We should all, as Casmonauts, make the Tallahassee Shuffle a recognized technique within the RE Village speed run community.
Ethan winters being the side character of his own video game is really funny to me ngl. hope the next RE FPS game has you fighting aliens.
“WHAT THE HELL” after his wife gets shot to fucken bits in front of him
What the hell?!
It's Tommy Wiseau levels of line delivery.
I think the 1st hour is cut scene heavy. But I found trying to survive the first horde of Lycans to be thrilling...but maybe playing on Hard Core did that for me
"oh no. Please don't catch me. That would be horrible and such a turn off"
This game looks like a version of Outlast that's not edgy, lets you fight back and it's actually good.
Much more fun and creative than outlast
Re7 is also that
Outlast is not supposed to be fun imo
Have you heard of resident evil? It’s only been out for like 25 years
@ASongForTheMostBeautifulWomanInTheWorld How is a video game not supposed to be fun? Horror is fun
I like how Ethan just puts his hand back on after it gets cut off
Ethan’s hands: gets absolutely destroyed
Some wack medicine, that apparently also heals clothes: it’s but a scratch
Marcus should do more game reviews. Maybe games that came out recently or older games that would be interesting to look at.
I'm just gonna take a random shot in the dark and guess you gave it a 7/10?
Edit: God damnit I was kidding
at this point, I’ve just learned to ignore the number part of reviews
I really think it deserves an 8
When he replays it. It'll probably go up.
7 is a good score it's not great but its good.
My golden retriever regularly defeats me using the Tallahassee Shuffle™
It’s really easy to tell your affinity for the RE franchise in this video, even though I haven’t actually played any of the games myself you can always tell when someone is a fan of a franchise just by the way they go about discussing things about it
I think while the "Tallahassee Shuffle" is /effective/ it didn't ever feel like I was encouraged to play in that way. Even for boss fights, the quicker, and often easier strategy was weaving, dodging and blocking their blows, and it created a far more engaging combat loop than what you described. I don't think I used that Tallahassee Shuffle once in my original playthrough
Wow, this was a really quick turn around. Good job, am proud.
I love the RE4 Merchant. He would always have a heartwarming welcome to hit you off before getting spammed by a lot of enemies. Also rpg
Very surprised Marcus didnt say anything on how Ethan is pretty much invincible
Probably because the game tells you why.
He is.
Also I guess because it's part of the spoiler.
It makes sense for the story
I agree with pretty much everything you said. This game is fantastic!
Resident Evil 4 and 7 made sweet sweet love and gave birth to one of the best experiences in RE history.
It's impressive how many weapons this game throw at you.
In the escape room section there's also cupboards you can hide in, which is what I think you're supposed to do to hide from that monster.
Finished it twice and now starting again
Back in the village again
In the village
I'm back in the village again
Wow, this video was really well thought out. I also really enjoyed the game but thought it felt a little too underwhelming with some of the enemies.
I actually loved the end, aka the factory levels. I fucking stockpiled my first run man, over 60 shotgun shells without crafting any at that point. It felt so good to actually unload some of that
Marcus actually nailed down my feelings for this game, well done! Villains feel stupid and Ethan has dumb dialogues, but it['s an overall "fun" game.
